Good Morning Golden Girls'

The sun isn't out yet, but it's early, and i'm still hoping for a repeat of yesterday. I have to say, I wasn't really knocking ALL tattoo. But I do have to say I dislike the full body things. Think Cat. Do you watch that show? I never have but see the reviews. My SIl got a tattoo, very tasteful, a little flower vine around her ankel, a few years ago. She is a tacher now and a mom and says she really regrets it. Just the field she works in. She says she wishes she had gotten one that she could hide when she didn't want it to be seen.

Jan, Welcome. I look forward to getting to know you. Lots of support here. A lot of us are going through that stage of taking care of parents. At least yours is aging gracefully. Mine, not so much. She is not going to be one of those sweet little, slightly forget, old ladies.

Cindy, I think most kids go through that rebellion stage. You were a smart lady to say nothing and let her get it out of her system. Gotta tell you, if someone has an accident and needs a x-ray or test, we sometimes forget to look in their mouth for tongue piercings. Wouldn't want to go through a MRI with one!!

Georgia, Congraulations on getting through the first day! and it does get easier, I promise. Yeah, and you do find you have muscles in places you didn't realize there were muscles!

Rosie, Is that your tattoo I see in your picture? I really wasn't talking about a small, cute little chain of flowers. My friend has a trellis of flowers from her ankel to her hip. Really pretty, but she gets mad when anyone notices or comments on it. I think that is really funny, since you can't help but notice it!

Donna, I've seen a few of those ladies. Not on the autopsy table, but in a hospital bed with all the mentioned "improvements". Not always a pretty sight!

Z, now I can imagine you with a tattoo. Guess because of that free spirit of yours. How is the diet coming along? Remember, a month really isn't that long. You can do this, it's just for a short time.

Everyone have a great day,

Isabella, hope you are feeling better today.

Lynn, busy planning that wonderful trip?

Freda

Good Morning Girls!
Rosey...I see we have the same birthday I also have a tattoo, it's of red cherries on my right calf. I had it put on about 20 years ago in our Harley Davidson biker days. It still looks good and hasn't faded much, I'll have it re-inked if it ever does. It reminds me of all the blessing I have now compared to growing up. I had two older sisters that got new clothes, me? Never I had to wear their hang-me-downs. Then thanks to a big family reunion my dad purchased a new dress just for me, it was mint green with a white yoke on front and a row of red cherries across the top. Cherries just like on my calf. I had a very stressful childhood and hated my dad because he was always so mean and nasty to me. The tattoo is my friend.
Hi Jan...welcome to our girlfriends club. I love your dog Mattie, we have a hunting breed too. 'Charlie' is a beautiful English Setter who thinks he's a person. We have to spell out things so he doesn't think he gets to go in the car or jeep. He absolutely goes nuts if DH puts on his hunting coat. At night after supper he puts his big head on DH's lap and won't stop looking at him until he gets up and dishes out ice cream. Charlie gets to lick the bowl, his nightly treat.
I'm going down to tackle the laundry room this morning, we stuffed all kinds of treasures in there while we re-modeled and I still can't find things. I'm moving my stepper back down stairs today, it was handy in the bedroom but not very attractive.
Have a nice day everyone.
I just snapped these pic's of Charlie, he was sun snoozing with his hind legs straight up in the air. 2nd picture he woke up to see why I was taking his picture, not very happy.

Oh Lordie, Freda! I am the LAST person who’d ever have a tattoo!!! I have absolutely no tolerance for pain whatsoever. I DO have pierced ears, but nothing else is pierced, and trust me, nothing else is ever going to be! And I don’t know about autopsy tables (I have a low – make that no - tolerance for them, too) but I can tell you that in the spots where I, personally, am sagging, I am danged glad I don’t have any tattoos, because they’d be stretched into some very strange looking configurations if I did. Yeah. I think about youthful tattoos – especially those great big ones, and multiple, full-body ones – and can’t help but think of what they’re going to look like 20 years and <mumbledy-smush> pounds later! And as far as visible tattoos being a little troublesome from the employment standpoint, well, HELLO….they aren’t exactly prevalent among the people I work with, I can tell you that much. Now, mind you, a small personally meaningful tattoo is a horse (or butterfly or bunch of cherries) of a different color. Something like that might be nice to have. If you can tolerate somebody sticking needles into your flesh repeatedly, that is. Heck, if somebody accidentally steps on my foot, I wanna smack ‘em! And I’m going to VOLUNTARILY stand there while they poke me with needles? Um. Nuh-uh. Not me.
“Shrinking-my-booty-duty!” I LIKE that, Georgia! I think we ALL should be reporting in on that one! (OH, I am SO determined this month! I swear I am getting these danged pounds sent off into the ether, and I don’t care WHERE they go…they can huddle outside my door like cold little orphans all they please, but I will NOT waver in my determination to be rid of them, I tell you! (Oh, poor things. See, that’s how it is when one was a social worker in a previous life. Me. Sad when you feel sorry for lost and wandering pounds, eh?)
Oh, Isabella. I absolutely hate the thoughts of your being in so much pain! Please take care of yourself! Rest! Drink fluids! Eat chocolate! (Oops, scratch that last one!)
Cindy, my youngest daughter (now 32, a clinical social worker married to a high school teacher and mother of three wonderful little bittle kids) got a sun tattooed on her ankle when she was a senior in high school. It was two years before I realized that it wasn’t going to wash off. (Yeah. Dense I am, sometimes). No piercings except ears, and I’m betting she’s pretty glad about that now. Sounds like you’re handling things just right with your daughter. Keep up the good work.
Glad to hear about the exercising, Rosey. You keep it up, now, you hear? (This from someone who finds exercise only slightly more palatable than mooseturd pie ). But we want you to be strong and well-prepared for that upcoming surgery of yours!
Welcome to you, Jan. I think you’ll enjoy this crazy group (I assure you that I am far from being the only “free spirit” here!) I see that you’ve made a good amount of progress towards reaching your weight goal, and I think you’ll find lots of support and encouragement here.
Bobbi, dare I assume that your renovations are complete??? Hallelujah!!!! Pretty doggie. Love the pics.
Lynn, where you be, girl? I don’t THINK you’re snowed in anymore. Time to check in for “shrinking-your-booty-duty”!!!! (I think you may have checked into the exercise thread, but you KNOW I don’t go there!
PT, I emailed those charts to you. And I bet your butterfly is very nice. I would have one myself, maybe (we are PTs, after all…) except it would hurt, so I don’t.
Have a good and on-plan day, y’all!!!

Good Morning, Everyone,

BEAUTIFUL day here today. I got some VERY good news yesterday - my cardiologist will work with me to reduce the number of meds I am taking. Cut out one immediately & she will cut out another if I lose 10 more pounds. Now, this is REAL motivation for me.

I knew March was going to be a GOOD month.

Gotta run - off to fight with my eye doctor about new glasses. He wants me to take a pair that I cannot see out of & tells me my brain will adjust. I refuse to fight with seeing. They need to work BEFORE I walk out of there.

Check back later,

Lynn

Good Morning, All...
Lynn, go get 'em! I'll bet that eye doctor wouldn't fumble and stumble around with glasses that don't work until HIS brain adjusted!! Take a pillow and some water and have a sit-in until they fix them!

Bobbi, ARE the renovations finished? Does everything fit and work? Your puppy is too sweet... I really miss my girl, but I don't miss the mess and the hair!

PT, thanks for the forward. How was the lecture? And I LOVE your postings...

Jan, Rosey, everyone.... yo.

Be safe and warm, Everyone! I'm hanging in there!

Good afternoon, ladies. To add to the piercing/tattoo conversation, I can tell you all that if ever I was to have anything pierced it would never, ever be my tongue. I just use it too much to have it hindered in any way from working 100%.

We had 10 cm of snow last night (about 2") but it's melting as fast as it came. We have miserable drizzle now (which is good as the snow is melting, but bad because it's dreary) and everything looks dirty and mucky. DH almost took out his new snowblower this morning but decided against it as the snow was heavy and looked like it would be gone soon enough anyway.

This morning I tackled some ironing for awhile (a momentous decision and an almost extinct activity). I had a few blouses that I'd washed over the past couple of months and thought it was about time they got ironed so I could wear them again. Just the weekend I was bemoaning the fact I didn't have a white blouse to wear under a black sweater and a little green/black tweed skirt. When I went to iron the blouses I was somewhat amused to see I had 2 white blouses waiting to be dewrinkled. Glad I didn't run out and buy a new one. (In Newfoundland, I would be told, "Don't be so stunned, by!" the word "by" meaning "boy" being a generic term for anyone you might be talking to at the time. Or the word "by" could be replaced with "maid or maidy". There's your lesson in colloquialisms of Newfoundland and Labrador.)

Anyway, some of the ironing got done before I needed to sit down and rest that back of mine. Every day I'm feeling a bit better. Thanks for all your well wishes, my maids.

Welcome Jan. Love that avatar. The dog looks so content with himself.

Georgia, you don't mind if I check in for a "shrink your belly duty" do you? If my booty gets any smaller I'll cave in on the back. But my stomach.... oh, my stomach.

Lynn, hope you get glasses you can see out of. Sometimes it takes a long time to get your eyes adjusted to new lenses. You don't want to travel in a hazy daze.

Bobbi, your dog is adorable. He looks as if he was talking to you.

Have a good day to everyone--Zoe, Donna, Rosey, Freda & Cindy and Linda. Where are you, Linda?

Yeah Lynn!!! That's great news! It's what I'm working towards as well. Don't want to be on any meds.

Isabella, I'll be joining you in the shrink-my-belly duty too. And thighs plus the kimono-arms. The only body parts I can't spare on are the girls in front. Although they could do a bit better with standing at attention!

This morning started off great with the exercise, but then I got really hungry. I already used up 15 points for breakfast, and I'm still wanting to eat. Tried hot beverage and more water. Didn't make a good choice with a fiberous, filling food, so now I'm paying the price. I'm going in for some spinach in a moment - no points plus fiber.

I'm conflicted about when to do my weight training today. Usually I've been doing it in the afternoons, because it makes me sleepy by bedtime. If I do it earlier in the day, I have to nap, and I don't have time for that. But my afternoons are busy with home school wrap up and prep for the next day, driving kids to sports or music lessons, getting dinner ready, etc. And after dinner, I just want to veg in front of the TV. Okay, I'll try it this morning, while Rhyan is studying History and Language Arts, just to see what happens. I can always nap in the car in front of taekwondo.

I'm up for a quick lunch and thought I'd post pictures of our new basement bathroom. No, we're far from finished. The carpenters, plumber, cabinets maker and ceramic tiler are finished. Now we have to paint, strip off stairs carpeting and replace, etc. BUT THE BATHROOM IS FINISHED! One room done and two more to go. It's very small and has a tiny basement window in it so I painted the walls a light butter cream color to match the towels and pictures. Shopko had the shower curtain, towels, accesories to match and on sale for 40% off. I found 4 pictures that match the pattern, all with the same leaves on them.
Yesterday I found two picture frames with the same burgundy color and I scanned the two different leaves in the towel and printed them out to put in the picture frames. Worked great, what did we do without computers?
I tried to post the pic's earlier but had to resize them. I'll see if it works this time.
1. Wall cabinet I found online for $69.00 + free shipping, nice!
2. 4 leaf pics I found, hard to see the design but frames match the cabinet and mirror.
3. This is the pimpy sink we had to buy at home depot because the expensive one we had built doesn't fit It also matched the dark Mirror frame. We didn't have a good choice of color so we chose white cabinet to match white toilet. The toilet is new too because our other one wouldn't fit.
4. Ceramic tiled shower, pic doesn't show how beautiful it is, the floor is multi-colored tiles.
5. The frames I purchase yesterday and put scanned photos of towel pattern in.

Hi Again,

Ready to do personals -

Anyhoo, gone to hobble about with mom's walking cane. Have a great day.
Hi Isabella,

I hope that back gets better soon. When I jammed my knee, had to go out and buy a cane (had gotten rid of the ones I had from when my hip was bad). I am terrible about keeping stuff. As soon as I get better, I assume I’ll never need the stuff again & toss it.

At least I'm fairly sure (anybody?) that's the equivalency breakdown. I transcribed it into calories quite some time ago and I THINK that's what I used, but can't remember for sure. Someone else here must know? Anyway, I am tired of my wavering back and forth all through January and February, and now it's time to put nose to the grindstone and get it done, which is what I plan to do. Will I be hungry? Will I have cravings for stuff I can't have? Oh, you betcha! Will I give in and eat off-plan? No, no, and a thousand times, NO. The weekend was nice. DH and I went to an early matinee at the local theatre. It was my turn to pick and pickings were slim. I chose Shutter Island. Sorry I can't recommend it. We both left the theatre with an unsettled feeling. Based on a book by Dennis Lehayne. I had forgotten, don't care for his writing much. I guess Leonardo di Caprio was the draw. Personally, I have been on a Cormac McCarthy kick. Recently read The Journey, All The Pretty Horses, and currently on The Crossing.
Hi Cindy,

CONGRATULATIONS on your South Beach success!
I just finished Year of Wonders, The Dome, The Swan Thieves, The Great Gatsby, and am in the middle of Double Bind. Over the weekend, my Sister and I saw a production of Lost in Yonkers. Actually, I will these theaters would put on some new stuff. Kind of tired of all the old stuff being re-produced. I’ve been wanting to see The Young Victoria, but every time I plan to see it, it has snowed!

I didn’t have to “sit-in.” I guess they sensed my resolve. They are making up a new pair for me.

Hi Georgia,

This is SO motivational for me. I was really surprised that she agreed to work with me on this. Generally, she is ruthless about pushing the meds to get my “numbers” where she wants them.

Hi Bobbi,

The bathroom is looking GREAT!

Good Morning!
I have to grab a quick shower then out the door loaded with antiquey-thingies to take to the antique road show thats in town all week. I'll let you know if I have any hidden treasures when I get home.
Lynn...Oh yes, we were frequent bikers. We had so much fun on road trips, vacations with biker friends and good time parties. The last year I went to Sturgis, S.Dakota just about killed me. I've had a bad back for years and riding that far on a bike was torture. I'll post a pic of us on our Harley.

Good Morning, All...

First, Bobbi, the bathroom is lovely... it was worth the angst and waiting, I think!!

Sounds like everyone is hanging in there. And I think Spring is coming... I hear lots of little birdies chirping! Better replenish the feed for another couple of months.

Lynn, are you getting excited? Rosey, how are you doing? PT, hi!

Oh, brother. What a long day! And now I'm sipping my Sleepytime tea, trying to unwind sufficiently to actually go to sleep and stay that way! (I will also take a Melatonin in a few minutes). So far, so good with my calorie counting and sticking to the Wendie plan. No cravings to speak of, and a sufficiency of (good) food, so hunger isn't an issue. DH & I are now only buying free range chicken, turkey and pork - humanely raised, and fed a vegetarian diet free of hormones or antibiotics. I don't know if I mentioned it, but we watched that documentary, "Food, Inc." a couple of weeks back, and were pretty disturbed by it. We've committed to one meatless meal per week, and I suspect that we'll be completely meat-free within a year at most. Also buying all organic fruits and vegetables (we buy at local farm stands in season) and buying recycled products wherever possible and recycling at home. Things are pretty scary out there, once you take a closer look at them. Scary to think of the world that we're leaving to the grandbabies. Okay, off my soapbox, which isn't really a soapbox - just venting a bit about things that have been bothering me, I guess. AND I want to be in in better physical condition - want to really enjoy exercising the way so many of you do instead of being such a lazy slug. I don't know what happens to me in the winter...seems like I'd really rather curl up and hibernate someplace than face all the nasty weather, you know?
Okay, must get to bed shortly, but wanted to check in...your bathroom looks nice, Bobbi - oh, and I hope you discovered some valuable old antiques! Wouldn't that be so cool?
Glad to hear your back has improved some, Isabella. Ironing, eh? Hmmm. I think I remember doing that once upon a time myself, but I think it was in another life.
Oh, good, Lynn - about the glasses, I mean. Which reminds me - I'm due for an eye exam, and probably new glasses myself. I keep putting it off. Need to stop doing that. And, girl, I wouldn't have left that office until the glasses were right, either! I swear, it seems more and more like we have to fight just to get what we're entitled to in the first place. Tiresome.
Oh, shoot. Okay. I'm drooping, here. Can't write anymore. PT, are we together on this????? I think we should do a daily check in. What do you think?
Love to all the Golden Girls...we know who we are ...

Quick check-in tonight. Hope you're all doing well.

Was experiencing some wrist pain this morning so I took another Aleve in order to row. But now I'm in even more pain. The rowing has exacerbated my injured wrist and now I've got to lay off the rowing. I'm very frustrated with this! I have to wear a splint now. The doctor's calling it tendonitis, and I'm off the rower until he gives me the all clear.

I'm going to switch to the elliptical, but I can't stay on that thing for 40 minutes like the rower. My knees don't like it. I'll see what I can do. I'll have to take it slow.

Having trouble cutting points to the level WW wants me at. I've reduced my points overall each day, so perhaps eventually I'll get down to the right number.

Ella, I saw Food Inc. a few weeks ago. Previous to that we watched Supersize Me and King Corn. We've been organic for some time, and I'm glad we've now gone with free-range, grass-fed meats. For me, it was the soy allergy that made me switch. I get a reaction even when I eat organic turkey fed a vegetarian diet. They're still fed corn and soy. I had to find a source for grass-fed poultry. It's expensive, so that alone is making us cut back on eating meat.

I'm working my parents' garden this spring/summer. They've always grown organic produce and they have a large garden space. I'm getting good on the rototiller now! Hope I can get my sons to help this summer.

Okay, I need to get to bed!

Good Morning all,

We had a going away party at work yesterday and I did not do well! I ate way too much. Mostly healthy, but still. I hate potato salad and I KNOW it was not made with low fat mayo, like I make it. So today i'm feeling sluggish. Terrible how our bodies try to tell us something and we refuse to listen.

Bobbi, your bathroom looks beautiful. The end product is always worth it, it's just in the middle that we start second guessing our sanity for starting the project. And you as a biker? You'll have to post a picture, I just can't get that image.

Georgia, It's always better to start any new exercise slowely. We think we can do more than we can and the body rebells! Just take it slow and easy.

Z, I try to eat well too. I just can't stand the way the aminals raised for food are treated. I'm not vegiterian but eat meatless meals often. and try to buy food that have been raised humainly. My brother in Tenn. raises beef that is not only humainly treated by drug free. chickens too. Any one live near there? I know he raises an extra beef to sell. And the eggs are SOO much better. I bet Bobbi knows, since she had chickens too. We have a farmer who sells product near my house. We try to use local produce when available.

Lynn, My husband had that problem too. They wanted him to "give himself a chance to get used to the glasses". found out that it was the wrong prescription. Go get um!!

Donna, We're seeing signs of spring here too. Just not quickly enough.

Isabella, I iron. I actually don't mind. When my DGD was born I asked if I could iron all her little dresses! She's a big girl now (7) but I still enjoy ironing all her little cotton things. I know in these days of wrinkles it's not always popular, but I love that crisp, just iorned look. Yes, i'm old fashioned.

Karen, You and me both! I have no talent for decoating. or any thing else that I know of. I do envy people who have talent. People always say you have something, I just keep looking for mine.

Freda
