Hi Freda, Isabella, Jess, Judy, Zoe, Bobbi, Kim, Carol, Karen, Institches, Deena, and anyone I missed..
First WELCOME Deena!
Our Northeast blizzard is over. Had a nice snowy weekend. My DD & SIL got me out several times for snow-walking and restaurant-eating. Unfortunately, I didn't do enough walking to offset the eating.
Today I'm back on program (at least until Thursday). Got a strange call from my gyn Dr. - he wants to see me before Jan 1. Either something is wrong with me or he needs more 2009 income. I've got an appointment for this afternoon - I'll let you know.
This year is turning out to be a "cook & book" Christmas for my DD & SIL. Just about everything I got them relates to cooking or is a book. Didn't realize this until I started wrapping.
Good Morning, All...
Thanks, Bobbi.... I do that regularly, and the computer is new, so I don't think that's the problem. Since we had the few days of not being able to log on to this site, it's been S O S L O W to post the posts! Patience is a virtue of mine (!), so I don't mind waiting... and waiting... and waiting.
Have you noticed how easy it is to just tumble off the wagon? I was sitting here last night, after I got home from the party in the mountains, stuffing brownies into my mouth, totally mindlessly... and I thought, "what the **** are you DOING???????" I think I haven't learned a thing all this time!! It's been too hard and too long a struggle to let it go by the wayside like this. I AM BACK ON PROGRAM. TODAY. NOW.
Have a lovely day and welcome to all the new ones!!
In reading back through several days of posts, I'm reading a recurring theme of deprivation: "I didn't let myself have...", "I couldn't have", "I wanted but wouldn't let myself".... etc. I don't believe this is a good thing! Deprivation makes you WANT things more; a conscious choice to want to eat in a healthy way is so much better than not allowing yourself something. Hey, just a thought!

I feel have noticed the SAME! Sometimes we sabotage our WOE with what rolls off our tongue. Remember!!! Our tongue is the MOST powerful muscle and tool our body has - use it wisely!

I've seen the "Wave" on TV, why don't you like it????
I hope you find something like what you had....mine doesn't have handles, but I do have cords for working out the upper part of my body - kinda stabilizes me at the same time....
The 'Wave' sucks! Don't even think about buying it. It's stupid, I took it back this morning. I went over to Dunham's sporting good store and purchased the stepper I looked at yesterday, no handles to hang on to but has the elastic cords for upper body workouts. It was the only one they had and no box or instructions. The sales lady is going to have the company send me the warranty and instructions. They quoted me $39.99 yesterday, the manager waited on me and she gave it to me for $29.97. Two year warranty on this one, very nice with the step counter, calorie counter, time etc. One problem I had with it was the resistence, too hard on my knee and I don't know how to adjust it. So until I get the instructions, I'm going to spend 15 minutes on it daily to keep up with my challenge. It takes between 12 and 14 minutes to do 1000 steps on my old broken one. Now I really have to get going in the kitchen. Hubby said we needed to get into town to get this refund/new stepper done this morning because we're to get 3 more inches of snow. Ha, that's nothing compared to what your girls out East got. Stay warm!

I'm a total newbie here... except that I remember visiting when I was dieting back in 2003. I don't know if I ever posted anything way back then.
Anyhow, thanks to the kind person who mentioned this support group when I posted my intro.
I'm Linda, age 57, and very confused about how to put a ticker in my signature. I did manage to visit tickerfactory.com and get one. I couldn't figure out how to get them for this site... so I will just tell you, I'm 5'8, 240lbs, with a goal of 160lbs... and I'd appreciate signature modification instructions.
My diet is to count calories and exercise a lot, and stay hydrated. It worked in 2003, and I expect it will work even better now because I got rid of some medications that were keeping me fat.
Hi, Linda, welcome! This is a great group, and you'll like it here!
You have to be a member for a certain number of days (20, I think) with a certain number of posts before you can get a ticker. Just be patient. In the meantime, you'll get a lot of good support and ideas from this group.
I've lost weight with the help of online friends before... that was in 2003 and I got my support online at AOL which I'm no longer part of. I'm so happy to be at this message board. I'm sure you'll be seeing lots of me.
Thanks for being here!!!

Linda Happy to have you with us. It's a good group of girls.
I'm new too. Thought chatting with others with the same end result in mind would be good for me to stay focused on my goal.
Want to tell everyone I lost 1.5 pounds this morning! Yippee!! So that's 15 lbs in 6 weeks. It's like a miracle to me since I tried so many other ways and nothing worked.
It's sure nice to be able to get in pants I couldn't this past summer. But it's the blouses that I'm really hoping to get back into with a little more weight loss. It's the spare tire around the middle that needs a reduction. That's my problem area. It's one day at a time for me.
I had a busy day today, Things that just had to be done, so I kept my feet moving. I can rest a little more tomorrow. I paint on wood and I'm painting 4 wood snow globe ornaments for our grand daughters. Hope to finished them tomorrow. Just wasn't enough time today. But I did fit in 45 minutes of a good work out of water aerobics. I tried to speed it up today.
Well, better read a little on the other threads and see what's happening.
Good Morning! We're snowed in again and looks like more snow on Friday when we're suppose to be at two different family Chistmas parties. I'd hate to keep all the goodies I baked for ourselves, I need to get rid of it. Happy birthday Kim and welcome 1Bthinkagain, seems like I remember that title, do you have a shorter name we can call you? I'm going out to help shovel snow, catch ya all later.
Welcome Tobethinagain! So glad you will be joining us.
Happy Birthday Kim!
Easy day today - a little straightening up & a couple more presents to wrap.
My big task is putting together new electric cat litter box. Eye doctor was adamant about me not changing cat litter for 6 weeks after each eye surgery. I told him that with 2 cats, that was NOT going to happen. He suggested an electic box where litter gets caught in some kind of cartridge. OK, I got the thing - now I need to put it together & then, the cats need to use it. I'll keep you posted.
Gyn doctor just wanted to examine me following the last ultra-sound. Everything feels OK to him. Don't need to see him again until April.
Lynn, good news about the doctor. I was worried for you! Good luck with the electric cat box, first with the assembly and then with the task of acclimating two recalcitrant cats! My boy said "naw, I don't THINK so!"...
Had a job offer yesterday. Unfortunately, it's very physical, and my 61 year old body just cannot DO it. I was sad, because I really need a job. I'm not going graciously into the dark night.
More last minute "stuff" to do today, so I'd better get busy. Bobbi, will your neighbors get your baked goodies if you can't get to the Christmas parties? I wouldn't dare have them around. My won't power is lacking.
Carol...Was it one particular medication that was affecting your weight? And how did the doctor react when you mentioned it?
Hi Deena, sorry for not getting back sooner. I lost where you were since I'm on three threads.
It wasn't any medication that was making me gain. It was because when she took me off my estrogen because of cysts on the ovaries, it started me into menopause. I had a hysterectomy when I was 36 but they left the ovaries. I'm going to a GYN to see how that is coming along. Dr thought the estrogen might make the cysts grow and maybe turn to cancer.
Dr just said to get in some more walking in and watch what I ate. She knew I was doing WW at the time and eating healthy.
But the weight I was gaining was all around the mid section. I had to start buying XLg blouses just to fit the middle. I've always worn Lg but they were getting to tight to wear and I looked horrible. When I lost 40 lbs on the LC and reached 139 I could wear medium, but that changed when I slowly starting eating "the old way" again.
I think it's great that you've done so much searching on your own. I did the same thing about the hot flashes. It's been 1 1/2 years and I still have them but have to say they are getting better. Ya have to keep a sense of humor about them, or you'll go nuts! Still change my blouses all day long. Start out with long sleeves, mid day switch to tanks, and when the sun goes down, I'm back to long sleeves again. It will be nice to wear one blouse the whole day again. LOL
I've lost 15 pounds of the 25 that I gained, so have a few more pounds to go to reach goal. I don't expect these to come off quite as quickly, but I'm focused and it will come off. I feel great not eating carbs most nights, but am able to have them once in a while. That keeps me a happy camper!
