Yeah, you're definitely weird, gailr42. I think I'll send my rodents over to your house since you like hearing them! I got up yesterday at 3:15 a.m. to catch a 6 a.m. flight to Denver, and now the *&#@^$)*@^% gnawing rodents have awakened me at 3 a.m. here in Florida. I'm just about at my wits' end.

My partner said she thought the electronic repellent device was working... all I can say is, she must be going deaf.

After sleeping a lot yesterday, I'm finally beginning to feel alive again. Good thing, too since I must get out and about to do some grocery shopping at least. It's going to be a wonderfully cool and sunny day, so after I clean the litter pans and have a shower, I'm outta here.

See you later . . .

Good Morning all, Another lovely day here in Michigan. Brisk morning and sunny afternoons.

Linda, Glad that you are back and feeling better. Traveling is fun but exhausting! Take advantage of these beautiful days and get out there and play.

Laurie, Yeah, i've noticed that too, that i'm much bolder about asking for what i want. . I even take my own salad dressing to restaurants sometimes. Embarasses my DH but I know a lot of restaurants don't have diet dressing, or not the kind I like.

Jay, still not happy with the rodent problem. Hope you find something that works. I'm with you. I hate the little things running around. Mickey Mouse is cute, the rest of them, NOT!!

Make it a good day, Freda

Jay - sorry that the rodents are still a problem We certainly have had our share of mouse issues until we got our current cat. She is a Godsend! Glad you made it home safe and sound - and we really missed you!

Linda - glad you are feeling better, and we are sending WONDERFUL weather your way!

Freda - Agreed - right now - fall in MI is GLORIOUS! Today was perfect! I am loving that I can still ride my scooter to work and for errands! I know that winter is way too close and I am not taking our fantastic fall for granted. We had another fire outside tonight. Beautiful, clear sky, light wind and the smell of fall in the air - well - and a nice bottle of wine - life is GOOD!

Hope you all are having a great week! Miss our MIAs!
Happy hump day to all tomorrow!

Hey folks,

I'm hoping I get some sleep tonight. I'll use my earplugs. Tomorrow a pest company is coming to evaluate the problem. It's probably rats.

My cat would take care of it, but he can't get to them. They are in the walls and the floor--haven't made their way into the living space, thank goodness.

I just hate this and it's driving me crazy.

The repellent device does seem to keep them out of the walls more--but it's the gnawing under the floor now... At night and in the wee hours. But I'm done with the repellent device. It works for some, but not in this case. There aren't wires through the floor. I called the number for customer support--the man told me that he knows one guy who ran an extension cord all under his house to carry the repellent field. I said, "I am not going to be doing that." He said, "I didn't think so."

Sorry to be so one-topic, but there you have it.

I think it's time to take my Geritol and head for the earplugs.

Geritol? Are ya gonna listen to Paul Harvey, too?

It seems to me that around here, people always have good luck with the pest control companies. Some people even subscribe to service every three months, or what ever seems to work. Also, the various pest problems seem to be somewhat seasonal. This, too, shall pass.

gailr42, Yes, Geritol. I have a low-grade anemia, and Geritol turns out to be just the thing. Plus it has B-vitamins and has been around for a long time, and no prescription needed.

About pests: This company has a big "exclusion" strategy that costs $500 minimum and involves wrapping the bottom of the foundation with wire, among other things. This house has not needed that in 28 years, why should it need it now? What I do need is the critters removed and the hole sealed up. So I'll have some questions about things for sure.

I don't believe in paying companies to come out and spray poison all over everything every 3 months, so that won't be happening here.

We'll see what the man says. We'll see what kinds of traps his company uses. I won't have anything put outside that could hurt rabbits, squirrels, or cats.

I'll be heading for the gym later today...

Oh meowee! Sorry to hear you have a cold. Grrrr... Take vitamin C?

The pest removal man just came and went. $850 to get rid of the rats. And yes, we will need the wire-mesh exclusion barrier, if for no other reason than that's the only way they can guarantee that they catch the rats under our house and not other wildlife. And, the earliest they can start is Oct. 1.

Well, now I am definitely going to the gym. Need to work off some irritation, etc.

Yikes! I am sure you can think of lots of other ways to spend all that money. I agree about not spraying poison all over the place. I personally feel that I can live with a few bugs, but I know that not everyone feels that way.

The cats brought in a bat the other day. I got it away from them, but it died. It was actually quite a pretty little thing with shiny fur and little bitty teeth. It's wings looked like soft leather. I know, I know....I am crazy.

Linda - hope you are feeling better soon!

Jay - RATS! Oh, my! My bats are sounding better all the time!!!! This is your year for expensive home issues - ugh! I would need to work off some stress too!

The weather here is glorious, so I gotta get out before it gets dark and get some yard work done. The dog "fertilizer" needs to be raked and the weeds are gonna block my windows soon

Good morning! Sort of... Sleeping with earplugs is the only way until Oct. 1 when they can treat our house for the rats.

I gained a couple of pounds on vacation at my sister's, although it's hard to know how since eating is not a priority in that house! I mentioned this before--those folks definitely eat to live and not the other way around. But, we did have some fabulous dinners out, so that's probably it. I'm pulling in the reins again.

I did go to the gym yesterday and had a really good upper body workout. I can't use heavy weights because of a shoulder problem, but I did lots of reps. I also reacquainted myself with the situp machine.

It's finally starting to get cooler here! Yay! My morning walk was wonderful.

How are you all doing with "weighty things"?

I'm struggling with exercise right now. I am doing my morning routine faithfully, but the busy fall schedule has me down to walking only a couple times per week

On a good note, the wine-n-dine-n-hiking mini vacation seemed to have no ill-effect on the scale. My weight was up for two days, then right back down to 126.2. I'm sure the salt in the restaurant food and all the beer were responsible for the spike.

I think we have finally found a combination (brew pubs AND hiking) that balances out

Work was a BEAR today, but the weather is glorious. Gotta get out and enjoy that sunshine. Sounds like next week will be very, very chilly here
