Hi,
Lynn - In response to you question about what employer does. They have a healthy living web site we can go to and sign up and get points for taking part in various opportunities. They have a daily healthy tip they email us, you get points for exercise time, reading a book (more points is is has to do with healthy living or life style) reading articles they send you, taking part in a quite smoking class or weight loss class and a bunch of other things. They you can turn your points into gift cards for a wide range businesses up to $250 per year. They also have a cafeteria area that's open to the public and serves breakfast and lunch items on the main floor of the building and if we show our id badges and choose a healthy choice menu item we get a 35% discount. There is a gym in the building and we can join for I think it's $10 or we can sign up with 24 hr Fitness for no sign up fee just $24.00 a month to use any facility. I'm sure there is more that I've forgotten or haven't discovered yet. Hope I can catch up with everyone this weekend. Haven't even thought about what we're doing for Easter. Hope my in-laws aren't coming for the weekend. To tired to clean. Em |
Anyway . . . Good Morning . . . :grouphug:
Hope everyone has a great Good Friday lined up. Nothing new on the horizon around here -- actually, I'm not feeling all that great today; suffering some 'problems' with the second round of penicillin for the silly tooth I think -- so guess it will be another indoor day of Gazelling and Wii Bowling for me. At least the freezing rain has stopped and today is only supposed to be giving us a little snow. They've revised the long-term forecast to include some sun for Sunday . . . we shall see . . . :crossed: See you later . . . |
Good Morning!! :grouphug:
Quick flyby this morning just to wish everyone :easter3::bunny2: Hope you all have a glorious Easter weekend. |
Quick pop-in to say hello! Still working on the Good Friday service for tonight, so I can't stay. Here's to everyone staying POP through Easter. Don't let those chocolate bunnies have the final say ;)

Hi Everyone,
Em, that company sounds GREAT! Tomorrow I'm going to work on my mid-term. Hopefully, I'll get it done early and have time to hang out here a while. Take care, Lynn |
hi y'all...just got home. Fanny is dragging. Clocked 3 1/2 miles. That doesn't account for the weird screw ups and mental quirks. Is it a full moon? People were sweet but absolutely crazy....haven't eaten since breakfast. Tell you later about wild game......karen3

Heading in to do DDR for my exercise
Popping in to say hello! Going to do Dance Dance Revolution "workout" for my exercise. DH just went out to the barn, so the whole house to myself...and the Wii is rarely free...Have a great weekend everyone!Bethz

Karen - great job! :D
Beth - it really is a new world when us "mature" folk have to fight for time with the electronic "games". I'm thinking I need to get the stand-alone DDR one of these days. However, my Zumba DVDS came - so they are on my list for tomorrow's workout :D Hope you all have a wonderful and BLESSED Easter! Laurie |
Say "YAY" . . . it's Satur"DAY" . . . :yay: . . . Of course, for those of us who are retired, it hardly makes any difference at all.
Looks like we've got a big bunch of 'nothing special' weather-wise today and that is quite fine with me -- although a touch of sunshine would be nice. I may head out to the stores in a little while, but other than that 'nothing special' in my personal plans either. Have a great day, and I'll see you all a little later . . . |
Happy Easter Weekend everyone!!!
I am terribly sorry I haven't visited much lately. I have a new "morning routine" that doesn't leave much "fun" computer time. I am trying to exercise each morning alternating fluidity and callenetics and it's taking time away from visiting, but it's the only real time I have during the day to get the exercise in. And it IS working...yahoo. My tummy is finally starting to tighten up along with everything else. Even with all the weight loss, my tummy still wanted to poke out (I thought with 3 c-sections and a hysterectomy that I was just doomed) but low and behold, exercise was the trick!!! We are having a very low key weekend. Went to N.O. yesterday to get a new rose bush, eat oysters and hit Whole Foods and today we are just puttering in the gardens and tomorrow both my boys will be here for the day and for dinner. My youngest son's girlfriend (for some reason) ordered dyed ducklings for her little brothers and sisters and we ended up with one...along with a chick that the company packed in instead of "packing peanuts". They are both just adorable. The chick was supposed to go to someone at my son's church, but the chick and duckling just adore each other, so now he has to go buy a "replacement chick" to give away. They are both in a big box in my guest room to keep them away from the dogs. I never thought I'd have a teal blue duck in my house! He is really cute though and has a tuft of feather sticking out the top of his head like a little mohawk. He seems to have a hard time walking (like he's drunk) so my son decided to keep him to take care of him. joy. His name is Rupert and we named the chick Astrid. After the dogs get used to them, I guess they will go in the back yard. |
mornin'y'all....Hard to tell what kind a day here yet. The sea fog is thick. Go 2 miles East of here and it is probably bright sun shine. I want,no I need an Easter Flower....always have had an Easter flower....but the planter that I got for Halloween with sun coleus is now about 5'X 5' full and takes up big chunk of front porch. The pointsetta is still hanging in full bloom. Am so tired of the alazas(they've been blooming since Nov). Impatients don't do well here they kinda boil and die with the heat.
Em...what a wonderful program your company offers! Linda....come on down we'll warm your toes here in Fl. Watched the Brit doctor on TLC last night. Says can help you loss weight in 4weeks. Sounded like a hype but he really had some good points. 1st 4 rules are: if hungry eat, only eat until full, eat slowly by putting down folk between each bite(20 chews), and stop and listen to stomach if full. Recommends eating once a week with eyes closed. You eat much less if you can't see how much is on your plate. I read last week that when you go out to dinner get a doggie bag immediately and take half of meal off your plate at start. Gotta try that. Speed eating has always been my speciality! Gotta get moving....take care of yourself, eat heathy and hugs...karen3 |
Good Morning! I got on those dreaded scales this morning and I found that I did lose the 3 pound that I gained when I was back in MO. YAY!! Which just puts my ticker over by one pound that it was before I left. Was pretty happy and surprised to see that! I hope that this next week I am able to keep eating right and also get in lots more exercise!! I'd love to lose a lot more weight before we sell the house and move back to MO.
I have had trouble with my computer the last few days... I wasn't able to send out email and when I called MSN for tech support they helped SO MUCH that I couldn't do anything!! I finally got frustrated whith what they did, hung up the phone and "Unfixed all they had fixed" and then fixed it myself! I can't believe they weren't able to uninstall and reinstall MSN!! Oh well, It is fixed now and I feel so much better. I hope everyone has a HAPPY EASTER and I will try to catch up soon. |
Hi Everyone,
2 things - 1) I posted a thread titled, "A NON-Challenge Thread." I started thinking about why so few folks are joining in the monthly Challenge threads (after Bobbi's post), and put some ideas in the Non-Challenge thread post. Please take a look & let me know what you think. 2) I'm reading a new book that might be of interest to everyone. It's titled, "Ultra-Metabolism" and written by Dr. Mark Hyman. Seems to be based on a LOT of research & is very interesting. Still working on my mid-term - check back later, Lynn |
Karen3 - oh, you are killing me! Tired of your azaleas? I can't WAIT until my push is uncovered, let alone blooming  I'm so tired of snow!
Lynn - the book sounds interesting. I wonder if Audible has it. I will check later today. Karen31 - congrats on the 3 lbs. Traveling is hard! Hope one of the nibbles on the house bites soon! Cat - way to go with the morning exercise routine! I agree - I have to get it in before work too. I save cardio for after work though - I can't get my body moving that fast before 6 a.m. Linda - we got your sunshine :D I'll try to send some your direction. Even though it is barely above freezing, the sun makes it so much more bearable. I did the first Zumba video today. First learned all of the steps (of which there are many) and then went through the basic workout. Quite fun! I'm very glad that I have a couple "latin" aerobic dance videos already so some of the steps were familiar. I'm not one that picks up dance steps quickly. I am looking forward to trying it again sometime this week. It got my heart rate up quickly, so it will work for cardio :D Off to finish the PowerPoint for the Easter service tomorrow. Then laundry, and cleaning, and bills and ... (typical Saturday for me) |
Hi y'all...wow finally clicked the right things and got picture right size. Wrote a long note to you all and when I posted up popped hugh picture of Dash and me. Deleted and trying again.
Cat...OMG I forgot about pastel chicks and ducklings. Ahhhhh, a teal duck. Lynn...I signed up for your new challenge, but got thinking(that's always a mistake) how do I post my South Beach diet. I charted it today and looked up calories. Surprised me....had only had 1055 after dinner and went back had some pita bread that brought it up to 1410 which is dead on. Guess I listened to my body. take care of yourself, eat heathy and hugs.....karen3 |
