How CUTE! I LOVE the somersault!

I loved the video Cat---- I just love watching all the cute animals they have. Now I've got addicted to Escape to Chimp Eden! Crazy!

Thank you all for the nice comments about the pictures. But since I'm only 4'11" all my weight is in my mid section! Still have plenty to lose! But I appreciate the nice comments anyway.

I keep forgetting about that show on TLC about "I Can Make You Thin" I really wanted to watch it. Do they have any of the shows on the internet anywhere that you can watch the ones you missed? I want to see if I can find it.

Well, guess I'd better get busy. Just finished supper.... Lean Cuisine and a salad. Just didn't feel like cooking anything tonight. Take care everyone and I'll catch you later.

Lynn and Karen...TLC has been running reruns over and over....k3

Love the video :) Cat!

Another crazy busy day - it is great to take a vacation, but how come it is always preceded by a week of 12 hour days?

OK, nuf complaining! I DID get my Zumba Cardio Party video done tonight - and there is a reason that everyone in it is 20 something. Everyone over 50 died during the workout ;)
Seriously, it was my most challenging workout yet :D I AM gonna get to goal one of these days!

I loved the swimming ducky too. My last full day of work!!! They had a BIG FAT cake for me yesterday and I enjoyed much of it. Took an extra cake home and put it in the freezer for a summer party later this year.

My TOPs pals gave me two free passes to the local YMCA so nect week I plan to check it out. I will hopefully start swimming regularly again and my take some morning classes. I'm psyched!

Thanks for the welcomes!

Thanks for the warm welcome from everyone! The video of the duck is sooooo cute! What fun!

Meowee you are right it is 2.2 pounds in the kg, guess I was just rounding down cause at this point it's just a looooong way to go! But I am starting with baby steps. You ask what program I am doing. I am just simply eating healthy, counting calories, and consciously putting times of exercize in my day. No special program -- health is big for me at this point.

If anyone has anything that has especially worked for them especially in upping metabolism, would love to hear about it -- seems like mine is grinding to a halt:(

I was excited to see they were importing the special K 90 cal bars here at the grocery store the other day -- it's a nice mid day low cal snack.

Hope you all have a great day, mine is just winding down...

Hello (Lou?) & WELCOME to the Golden Girls.

About upping metabolism - if you're stalled, it's probably because you've lowered your calories too much. Holding onto fat and eating into muscle (being stalled) is generally your body's attempt to stave off starvation.

To up your metabolism - first, you need to establish your BMI
http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-ca...edict-equation

When you've figured out how many calories/day you would need to maintain your current weight, you need to eat that amount for a few weeks. In the meantime, start to increase your weight-lifting exercise. The key is to build more muscle & get your metabolism going faster without decreasing your calories.

As the muscle builds, your metabolism will increase and you can gradually reduce your calories - not by too much - to start losing again.

Hi Lyn,

CONGRATULATIONS & Welcome to the world of the previously employed!

Haven't posted in over a week so it took me a couple of hours to catch up on the posts.

I made it through the holiday without a weight gain. The main reason I did was that I had the stomach flu for five days and couldn't even stand the sight of real food until Monday. Terrible way to lose weight though.

Welcome to the new GGs and I wish you all great success in your endeavors.

That video was too funny Cat. Did the little guy ever get the hang of it?

Well, since I can't ride my bike outside yet (10" of new snow last week), I have started using the exercise bike to get some miles in. Not the same but I think if I can find some good videos on the travel channel I can pretend I'm riding through some lush European valleys.:ebike:

Congratulations on your retirement Lyn! I just recently retired (again) and after three weeks am really loving it. The first two I still got up at 5:30 thinking I needed to be at work. :^:

Quickie lunchtime

Sorry about that song Karen3 :( hope you were able to replace it in your head with something more enjoyable.

Ahh, Lyn, you lucky lady of leisure! Unless the Publishers Clearing House van shows up at my door, I'm probably looking at another 20 years - my 401K seems to be shrinking instead of growing :p Oh well, lucky for me I like my job.

Heavy sigh Lynn - I checked out that bmi calculator site - then just had to go and do the body fat thing :fr: that was really TMI but sure keeps me motivated for the day.

:grouphug: to all

Hi gang . . . I've had a really weird day.

As you know, I'm a Diabetic . . . when I got up this morning my sugar level was a little high (probably stressing over my dentist appointment at 11:00 for a root canal). Anyway, I decided to delay eating breakfast for a bit and then (believe it or not) I totally forgot until I was pulling into the parking lot at the dentist's office and felt those nasty symptoms of a hypoglycemic event (dangerously low blood sugar) coming on. I immediately took some glucose tablets but was still staggering a little when I walked into the exam room. Anyway the dentist freaked out and decided to reschedule -- probably a good thing. I mean who needs a nervous dentist playing in your mouth with very sharp instruments. Also a bad thing, of course, because now I have to wait until April 8 to get this blinking root canal done.

Other than that SSDD . . . the sun is shining, but it's cold . . . LouLou and I did our normal Thursday mall-crawl and I'm ashamed to say that I definitely overdid it at lunch today. That's what happens when you skip meals -- you get over-hungry and then all H--- breaks loose. We went to Swiss Chalet and I even had dessert. Oh well, tomorrow is another day, thank goodness.

Sorry that I don't have time for more chatting right now . . . but I'm really running behind with my 3FC rounds . . . see you later . . . :grouphug:

Good evening Y'all....Have been doing my typical rush around Thursday. Cooking meals for DH since it will be late when I get home every day after the tournament. But now am so tired probably won't play well tomorrow. Gesh we'll see.

Fitday is driving me into fits. Started focusing on vitamins. Now there is absolutely no way in H*** I am drinking 4 glasses of milk and if I lay out in the Fl sun for my Vit D I'll get fried and have to see a dermalogist. Folic acid is another if I ate that much oily fish a day I'd have cat breath! Vit K and E were almost as bad. Seems that all the raw carrots aren't as good for me as cooked one??? YES I had nutrition in my nursing program, but they even changed the food groups........Decided to eat what I see as healthy and just fool around with the levels.

Lyn...welcome to the best years of your life. When we finally retired both us kept saying why did we wait. You'll be busy.

Linda...it must be the moon doing weird things to diabetics!

Freda...12 hr days are a killer. Gives you long days off but you keeps trying to catch up. 10 hr days were a littler better. Stay OP....

Well there is the most beautiful sunset...I'm taking my cocktail(ice water) and sitting out on the lania...Take care of yourself, eat heathy and hugs...karen3

Just a quick flyby to say hello. I will be back on the 5th. If I get a chance, I will post while we are visiting Mom. But with the computer in her bedroom, a dial-up connection, and my step-father so ill, it is doubtful that I will have an opportunity to get online.

You are in my thoughts! I hope you have a wonderful POP week :)

And Karen & Lyn - I'm doing dry runs for retirement now. Each year I ask for an extra week off instead of a raise. I'm liking spending more and more time away from work. It looks good on me! Before I took this job, I volunteered 30 hours a week. I have no doubts that I will stay busy when I retire. Which, I'm hoping will be in about 4 1/2 years :D

KJD 03-28-2008 12:36 AM

Hi, everyone.

May I join your group? I'm still 66 (until July) and have been retired since 2002. This is my second try going from morbidly obese to normal. (Last time, I only got to overweight!)

I have a problem. Last time I lost, I reached the point where my buttocks, especially the left one, hurt while walking. PT to strengthen my core seemed to fix that. This time, it is pain in my right leg, obviously coming from my lower back and, so the PT guy suggested today, my right hip. I went for an hour's walk on Tuesday -- really felt great. Wednesday, the leg ached slightly all day. Tried to walk in the afternoon, but it hurt when going uphill, so I returned home. Today, I've been limping the whole day. This puts a big crimp in any attempt to exercise. [I've got The New Rules of LIfting for Women and want to "look like a goddess"! Hard to do when I cannot do anything in the book - and not much out of it. :( ]
