Hi there . . .
Oh wow . . . a Humidex of 53C (that's 127F) . . . Oh DENISE, please do not send it here. Mighty strange year we are having.
Congratulations CHERYL . . . and I bet you've already lost more, too.
Good luck with the new scale MARSHA . . . Hope you get one that weighs lighter than the old one . Everytime I buy a new one it seems to go the other way.
Nothing much is new and different around here. It's hot; it's humid. Kittens managed to break the toilet paper roll holder It's truly amazing what goes on in the middle of the night. So I guess I get to go shopping for a new one today . . . do you think I'll be able to manage this much excitement.
Here's a little FFFF for your enjoyment this morning . . .
Why does popcorn pop? I know you cannot stand to wait another minute to find out the answer . . . so . . . here it is . . .
Popcorn is a special variety of dried corn that contains about 14% moisture. When it's heated, that mosture turns to steam creating pressure inside the kernel of about 135 pounds per square inch and the hull bursts. The starchy interior then explodes and expands to about 35 times its original size, turning the kernel inside out. If you are finding lots of unpopped kernels at the bottom of the bag, it's usually because the corn is too old and has dried out. Without adequate moisture, popcorn just does not pop.
Have a great day gang . . . see you all later . . .

Good morning all,
Hope everyone is having a great day.
I reached my first 10% goal today! It feels sooo good to have accomplished that. I know I've got a way to go but it's a start.
Have a great weekend.

Good Morning . . .
I am running a little late today. Actually I've been idling away the morning doing some crocheting. Developing a new slipper pattern. Whenever the weather gets really hot, I start to think about how cold my feet and ankles will be around February and March. Actually, I think it's just an excuse to sit still more I can rationalize anything if I try hard enough.
Hi Settie Congratulations on that 10%, chickie.
Hi Ready Know what you mean, I purposely bought a scale with a biiger platform too.
Wow . . . wouldn't it be nice to see that number. My scale does seem to be stuck on a number. It just isn't such a pretty one.
Here's a little article about Sleep Apnea that caught my eye . . . I'm pretty sure I have it . . . sometimes I snore so loudly I wake myself up.
http://www.dukediet.com/publicsite/n...?issueid=28312
Anyway, girls, I'd better get myself moving and shaking. Hope you all are having a great day. See you soon . . .

Hi gang . . .
Here's an interesting little FFFF for you today . . .
The residue from the commercial manufacture of orange juice -- discarded pulp, seeds, and peel -- are used to make other food products such as cake mixes, candies, and soft drinks. Over 100 million pounds of orange-peel/orange-seed oils are sold annually for such purposes. The residues also find their way into paints and perfumes.
Nothing new and exciting around here . . . it's still too hot and too sticky.
Hope everybody is having a great weekend whether at home or away. See you later . . .

MEOWEE: Looks like you are here all alone where has everyone gone?
This heat and humidity are about to kill me, and we just had another quick rain this morning that left another 1/2 inch, so the humidity today will be unbearable. I don't feel like doing anything when it's like this.
I'm officially another year older and another pound heavier that is not how I planned to celebrate. Guess I had better quit procrastinating and get my BIG butt in gear and get back on track with the exercising. No more of this hoping it will just go away. I guess I really am in denial about what I eat and how much I exercise. I have made me a calendar and I'm putting down everything I do as far as exercise. Am getting back to my early morning schedule and doing my weight training again. I did that so faithfully for 8 weeks, then stopped, guess what ? it doesn't work when you do that.
I'm really mad at myself today so won't boar you with it.
CHERYL: Congrats on your big loss last week. You deserve a big You are working soooo hard and it's paying off.
MARSHA: How is the new scale working? I liked that weight on the picture.
DENISE: How are things going for you? Hope you are having a good week.
HY: Are you out there? Think everyone is trying to just stay cool.
My dryer just paged me so I need to run. I will give you the answers to last weeks quiz and add some new questions tomorrow.

Donna I'm here Did you have a birthday??? I knew about your anniversary.
Yes, summer is summer here No point of complaining about the temps in PHX as it's just the way it is and will be for another good 2 months...after that then we can enjoy some nice weather.
I think your quizzes are fun - thanks for posting them!

YES, HY,I did have a birthday on Sunday, I am now 61. You know I never thought I'd ever be this old. My brother-in-law just sent me an e-mail with some information about a band that played in our area when we were in high school and one of the members was a class mate of mine. In fact some of you might have heard of him, his name is Randy Meisner and he went on to play with the Eagles and does the vocal on "Hotel California" Geeez, I hate name droppers, but hey. Anyway it made me think back to those
"good old days" and when you are 16 or 17 you just don't think about getting old, like your folks are !!!! Well now I am only 6 years younger than my mother was when she passed away. Let me tell you that hits home and I must admit I am kind of bummed out about it and I know that this
little dab of depression is making it hard for me to concentrate on my weight loss journey. I'm sorry I didn't mean to dump on you guys, but I am depressed by it and I'm not sure what to do about it. My mom died as a result of her smoking for so many years, she died of emphasema(sp?) and I have never smoked, but they say second hand smoke is worse. Ok I am going to shut up and go back to work. Hi gang . . .
Boy am I ever late getting on the computer today -- don't really know what happened -- but I've been super busy for some reason. The weather is definitely cooler around here although it is very humid. It rained quite heavily overnight and it has been threatening on and off all day today, too. However even with the high humidity, the net effect is definitely more comfortable.
Donna . . . . . . I think you are experiencing a fairly common thing. I know I kind of wanted to hold my breath the whole year I was the age at which my Dad died and I'll probably do it again when (hopefully) I hit my Mother's last age, too.
I knew the answers to last week's questions and I know #11 is Draft Card (something we never had in Canada) and two choices for #12 are Beetle and Bug (there may be even more). But I DO NOT have a clue on either part of the Red Skelton question.
Here's a little tidbit from my e:mail box this morning . . . about some popular myths connected with exercise . . . http://www.dukediet.com/publicsite/n...?issueid=28317
Have a great evening gang . . . see you tomorrow, I hope . . .

Evening Ladies...Sorry I haven't been here much, but very busy working on the house and out buildings. Finally have the house and garage done, and hubby got four of the out buildings painted this afternoon. We just have our big barn and four stall garage to scrape and paint. Oh joy!! Will be starting on them tomorrow, and hope to have them done by Thursday. Hubby goes back to work Friday afternoon. We have had four couples look at our place, and hope to have an offer soon. Hubby has a job interview tomorrow with the prison in Madras and one on the 22nd for the prison in Salem. We would love to go to Salem, I would only be 10 miles from my parents, and 60 miles from my children. Have already found a house on 1 acre of land, 2800 sq ft and 9 miles from Hubbys work, that we absolutely LOVE. I keep telling myself that everything will happen in it's own time.
Donna...A very Happy belated Anniversary and Birthday to you!!!! I hope you had a wonderful day celebrating each of these events.
Red Skelton's hobo was Freddy the Freeloader. He also ended each show by saying, "Good night and God bless".
Linda...Are your kitties keeping you on your toes? My Princess is pretty upset with me, everytime we show the house, she has to go in her carrier. she is getting real good at hiding. The little poop!!! Linda, my hubby starting using his insulin inhaler a couple of days ago. The one problem he has, is he keeps for getting to use it before meals. I think he will have to go to shots if he keeps forgetting to use the inhaler.
Settie...Congrats on reaching your 10 percent. I'm sooooooooo HAPPY for you!!!
Marsha...Hope you like your new scales. I have a talking digital scale which I love.
Hy...I see where you have been 100 plus, just make's me wilt thinking about it. Hope you are staying cool.
Well gang, I loss another .8 pounds last week and tomorrow is Weight Watchers day, so I hope I will show another loss. I have been working my tail off scraping buildings, so the scales better show something for my effort.
Well ladies, I'm off to bed after I grease hubby up with Bengay, and he does the same to me. Hugs to you all.
Cheryl
