Welcome Debi! Glad you started posting here. Lots of fun people here and lots of support. Sounds like you're doing very well... good for you! I'm looking forward to getting to know you better! I'm not as far along as you are in the kid department. I have a 13 year old girl and an 11 year old boy. Maybe you can give advice!! ha!

Something that I learned that is really important to me. I try to "live" it every day. From Body for Life for Women by Dr. Pamela Peeke:

I will give to myself as I give to others.
I will value my health as I value the health of my loved ones.
I won't ask, "Should I or shouldn't I?" about matters of self-care.
I will just do it.
I humbly accept that I must work to be the best me I can be.
I will choose to work for myself, rather than abandon myself.
I will embrace adversity as an opportunity to test my mental and physical strength.

Ok. Off to the gym with the kiddo.

Hi girls just got back from seeing my oldest at school. We went to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings and then did some shopping.

I bought her a ticket to see Jersey Boys for her birthday. She's my actress. I told her about it and she can't go as that's the last day of their production. So I'm going to see Jersey Boys in April. Anyone here seen it? I enjoy going to the theatre. My favourite by far was Les Miserables. So good. The last part of it was so emotional I cried. I had to buy another ticket to Jersy Boys when I got home.

Hi Debi :welcome3: keep on posting.

:sunny:Hi second sunny day here in a long time! It is amazing how something so simple can make my spirit soar! I was really getting down it the dumps; it has been cloudy and cold for months. It is still very cold but as long as the sun keeps shinin' I'll be smilin' (sounds like a cheesy song lol).

I did pretty good today: small bowl of Rasin Bran for breakfast, can of Progresso Light Soup and five sml pretzles for lunch. I think I will have a large salad and some pasta for dinner.

Hope everyone is well
Cat'

Happy Presidents Day everyone. I am enjoying a do nothing day. Except I did do a couple miles on the TM and even ran one of them.
I am recovering from torn ligaments in my lower leg ... and have packed on 30 pounds in the last year!

Feels good to be back.:tread:

Diane, So, who's your team? Do you enjoy baseball on tv or going to the stands? I'm not a huge fan of pro-baseball, but give me the minors and I'm a happy camper. WI has many minor league teams, but my favorite is the LaCrosse Loggers. My DH was so surprised when I asked to go for my birthday. We did a whole baseball theme weekend away with the kids that included the game and the batting cages. It was so much fun for us all. I'm pretty sure that's what I'll want to do again this year. They happened to have fireworks right on my birthday and they included my name with a group of 14 year old birthday girls. Friends and family found that pretty hilariuos and announced to anyone who would listen.....this is one of the birthday girls and she's NOT 14!!!! Whatev, I was having a blast!!! All Stars for your son...that's awesome. We're such a small community nothing like that is even offered. If it means 2 extra weeks, maybe I'm glad it's not lol

Ward, Your children are beautiful...I told you you were actually in the 140's!!! Hang in there. The ILs will be gone before you know it...

JZ, Dance your tushy off where ever you want...thanks for the writing. Women, especially need to be reminded to care for themselves.

Hi Clyde, Chris, Rennie, Wendy

My children have been home for 5 days straight. Thursday we got another 8 inches of snow that kept them home. Fri was a scheduled day off. That led into the weekend...Sun brought us another 11, yes that's right, another 11 inches of snow. This morning the tv announced a two hour delay, but it was snowing at the time. It finally changed to "no school" and we did get another 2 inches. They probably could have gone, but we have a lake community and all the culdisacks (spelled way wrong) are narrow and steep. The wind is really whipping so we're just hanging out. Games, movies, books, picking on each other, surviving!! We all did get out Sat. Dh and oldest son did the Boy Scout Klondike challenge. 7 different snow survival challenges. My husband ended up actually having to lead our Troop. Neither he or the boys had been through the challenge before. They were totally flying blind, but ended up finishing over an hour before the other Troops and with enough points to win the thing!!!! I could've choked when they called and said they'd won. When I learned Wes had led them there winning didn't surprise me as much. My hubby is a no nonsence let's get this done kind of guy. I have total faith in him if a national disaster strikes. Growing up with an alcoholic father and marrying one the first time around, it feels awesome to know I truly believe that statement....I took the rest of the kids bowling and out to lunch on Sat with my 2 SIL and 4 children that are his mine and ours of my one SIL's. That's the last escape from home I've had except a short walk yesterday that lasted all of 15 min just so I could breathe. Ok, I'm writing a novella here...can anyone say "cabin fever" ?

You all have a terrific day!!!

Shy Moment 02-18-2008 03:06 PM

Slash
They won't think I am a good mother until they have children of their own and a ceiling that needs cleaned lol.

Just popping in to say hello. Was gone most of the weekend. I walked into the house to hear the kids ( NO they are not 4 years old lol, screaming at each other over the last banana ). I am leaving again lol.

Clydegirl 02-18-2008 03:32 PM

Hi girls, quiet day everyone home.

Lovn I'm a big baseball fan as well. Love the Cardinals. I've never been to a major league game, maybe this year.

Just got back from Michaels. Had to buy cellophane to wrap easter baskets. I volunteer 2 days a week and we made about 100 easter baskets last Thursday for the children of our shoppers. So tomorrow we will be wrapping them.

Congrats to your son and dh for winning the challenge. They must have been very happy.

catmalvo 02-18-2008 04:12 PM

Congrats Evil! :congrat:

Happy birthday to your son Ward!:woo:
I like blue frosting too!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

JaneZoe 02-18-2008 07:12 PM

Oh man. I think I'm getting sick with something. I have to take my temp twice a day and I have a low grade (99.2) fever. I'm on steroids, so sometimes that masks a higher fever. I also have a cough and a little sore throat.

I'm sure I got sick on Saturday as my daughter and I had to attend a reconciliation retreat for her first communion. There were a ton of kids there and this woman who was totally hacking the whole time.

If I have to do something like that again, I am going to wear one of my surgical masks.

I meet with my trainer on Tuesdays and Thursday, so I really hope I start feeling better because I don't want to miss any appointments. Since it's not in my chest or anything, I am still able to do some cardio. I never work out too hard anyway.

Hope y'all are doing well. We've been taking advantage of the amazing weather these past few days.

Cheers,
Debs aka JaneZ

Slashnl 02-19-2008 08:51 AM

Oh boy, hang in there Debs. That being sick stuff is for the birds!! I hope you get better soon!

Lovn: I really love college baseball the best, but I am a Rockies fan. We have a college in town and we go to their games or high school games sometimes. The big thing for our town is the Junior College World Series that is held here every year. It is just the best thing ever! There are around 10 teams that come from all over the country to play in a tournament. We buy season tickets and usually try to make it to 10 games or so. You could spend a week going to games 2-3 times per day... if you didn't work! Anyway, my favorite baseball is when my son plays, even though any free time for me goes away! Sorry to hear about your weather. I know how tiring it is! We have had a couple of good days, but they were showing us on the weather last night that we have a "series" of storms coming soon. Series???? Enough already!

Wow, Clyde! That's a lot of Easter baskets! What a great project.

Rennie: I really believe that there are times that even if life is perfect, the kids will find something to argue about. If it wasn't the last banana, it probably would have been something else. I know I always love coming home after work to that kind of chatter. NOT!

Lola: Good to see you! Post often!

Evil: Good to see you again, too! Congrats on maintaining!

Hi Chris!

Have a good day everyone!
