March Exercise: Make it a Habit!!
Welcome! ...To the March exercise thread! We're trying to make exercise a habit and give ourselves some accountability! In this thread, we're setting the number of MINUTES we want to exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or housework! We're also tracking how many minutes we have exercised as a group! Please first post your goals and then add your minutes (for yourself and the group) and get some support and accountability! If you want to join us during the month -- GREAT! Just let us know how many minutes you want to exercise in what's left of the month! |
For February, I made a goal of 300 minutes, and made it all the way to 600 minutes. I think for March, I'm still going to go a bit low (don't wanna discourage myself), and go with 500 minutes. :) If I can outdo myself in March again, I'll just keep upping it until it's about the right amount. :)
|
Well, as some of you know, I got a little carried away with exercising in February, so I'm going to lower my personal goal for March. I planned on a minimum of 70 to 76 mins a day in Feb, but I've been told to stick to more the 50/60 min mark. I'm averaging that out, so alternating those two times.
If my math is correct, that would make my new target... ummm... 16 (days) x 50 = 800 and 15 x 60 = 900 Oh... that actually makes quite a nice, even amount. So, my personal goal for March is 1700 minutes. I may go over now and then, if hubby and I do a walk, but I will hopefully be much more controlled this month. I look forward to seeing everyone else's goals. People have been doing such a good job on the Feb thread that we should have some good goals set here. Well done Kayley on adding so much to your previous goal. I think you are being VERY sensible setting it at a reasonable amount. Then you will just be thrilled if you are over, but you won't have the pressure on to do too much... like some of us were doing.:^: Take care all, Zelma |
I think I will have some spare time on my hands so I am aiming to be walking my own dog whilst I am not at work, so I am aiming for two times a day and a total of 500 minutes during March.
|
Looks like people are doing well setting goals already. Like Kayley and Zelma, I want to be reasonable. My goal in February (from my convoluted scheme) worked out to 25 mins/day. I think that I will have a quieter end of March to catch up if I fall behind, so I am thinking of upping that to 30 minutes/day, which works out to.. yikes: 930 mins!! Hmmm... that just sounds like a lot somehow.
Okay, new plan: 800 minutes. I'd rather have success with fewer minutes (but still see myself increasing), than fail with a higher number. And this is a little higher... Beyond that, I hope to workout on the treadmill at least 3 days/week and do weight/strength training at least 2 days a week, and back exercises 3/week... What about everyone else! |
I think I am going to end up with 935 minutes for February and March is 2 days longer, but I don't want to get too ahead of myself. So I will set my March goal at 900 minutes. Also for March I need to start adding more strength training in, so I bought myself some weights this weekend. My plan is to try and add 10 minutes or so in the morning, working a different muscle group every day.

Tracey reporting for duty.
Everytime I would see these kinds of threads before I would stay away from them. I exercised regularly but eventually it stopped. Maybe participating in this and having the accountability will help me stay on track. So my goal for March is 900 minutes. I actually would like to surpass that but since it's been a while since I've exercised I'll start lower than what I'd like to do. I've got to get my body used to exercising again. |
I will do 900 minutes as well and my mom who is visiting from the north woods will do 1800 in the Month of March. Boy oh boy I guess I might as well bite the bullet.
|
Wow, all these 900 minute people! You're making me feel guilty for setting my goal at 800!! Nonetheless, I know we are all different and in different places, so I am just going to leave mine there!
Welcome to the returners AND the newcomers! |
Don't feel like you are under Wyllen - I've decided to join in and set a 600 minute goal. That's 20 minutes a day. As I currently do ZERO - I expect that will be a decent first-time goal. No reason for me to set more and not do it...I may actually accomplish the 600 minutes.
|
I'm usually so sporadic with my exercise. I am going to set my first goal at 500 minutes. I'm such a procrastinator that this would be quite an accomplishment :-)
:carrot: |
welcome, Lilion and Heather! We are really having fun with this thread and accountability. I am actually happy with my 800 minutes... so far I am increasing every month, and expect that I WILL be at 900 minutes (or more) in the future.
|
I think I'm going to start with a low-ish goal and hope I do better. I'm aiming for 600 minutes in March. That's only gym time and excludes walks with the dog.
Good luck to everyone! |
Hey guys!
I am up for another month! February was 800 mins.... I guess I will try to up that to 1000. If I can acheive that, I think that it is a number that I would like to stay at. I kinda fizzled once I reached my goal so I want to set something a little higher to keep me motivated. Brenda  |
Hi All,
Well I don't think I stuck to what I said I would do last month, what with the my exercise space being taken up by the mattress while Daren made the units in the bedroom, to the kids being off school. But this month I don't think I have anything that will stand in my way. SO, I will do 30 minutes of Salsasize every day for definite. I will do some walking too, but think I will add that as an extra as I am never sure when I will walk or how far I will walk. My personal goal will be 600 minutes a month. Hugs, Ammi :grouphug: |
OK. I joined the thread last month with a low goal thinking I'd start off with a success - well that didn't work :nono: . So let me start fresh yet again. I finally bought the WATP cd and will do that when I don't feel like going to the gym. I also plan to try some of FitTV's All Star Workouts.
So, for March I will commit to 540 minutes. |
OK. So I didn't make goal in December. Or January. Or February. And I'm in a low spot exercise-wise... blame it on TOM, too much time on the truck, distraction of the new puppy, WAY too cold whereever it was that I was... So THIS month I'm gonna set one I can make. 200 minutes. There it is. I can blow this one out of the water! At least I'll have a month that I can make goal!!!
There it is. 200 minutes. And I'll try not to disappear again this month. At least I have my new power cord, so my computer is usable again. |
I posted this on the main page, but I figured I might as well post it here as well, since this is the "official" page. I'm upping my March goal to 700 minutes (from 500 minutes), because dang it, I wanna fit in my size 20 bondage pants for the concert on April 1st!!!!!! :D
|
Well this is my second month and I failed miserably to make my goal for feb. But all I can do is try harder this month. So for March my goals are:
* Cardio 30-45 mins 5x a week=600-900 * Weights/Yoga 30 mins 3x a week=360 So I am going to set my total mins working out for March to be 1100 mins. |
I didn't make it all the way to goal of 500 minutes for Febuary...unless I exercise for 2 hours today ;) Even though I didn't meet my goal last month, I am going to up a little to 600 minutes for March and see how I do. I've picked up a bunch of workout videos at thrift shops this past week to try out. Plus I really think I'm going to join Curves- they have the special were they wave the membership signup if you bring in a bag of groceries to donate for food pantries. I knew I could afford the monthly fee, but that sign up fee was preventing me from joining, so this is perfect (for anyone else who's interested, I think it the special goes through March 11th).
|
I met and exceeded my goal in February (my first goal) somehow. I managed to do over 800 minutes last month so I am going to make 800 minutes my goal this month. I hope it works!
Good Luck EVERYONE!! |
OK... I'll start the ball rolling for March minutes.
I did 25 mins on the treadmill this morning and 25 mins on the exercise bike this afternoon. Personal Goal... 1700 - 50 = 1650 Group Total... 0 + 50 = 50 :carrot: Hope you all have a great start to your March minutes.:carrot: Take care, Zelma |
I'm not able to exercise at the moment because of an operation I had on Monday but tomorrow or Friday I will start, 800 minutes AND THIS TIME I WILL DO or exceed it!!!!!!:drill:
xxsharon:grouphug: |
Okay! March has started!!! :D Today, I did 25 minutes of "Crunch: Cardio Dance Blast", and then 5 minutes of floor work...weights, and crunches. So that's 30 minutes to start me off with! :)
50+30=80 minutes! :) |
Yay the March total has begun. I did 30 minutes Salsasize even though the kids were off school, a snow day, so YAY me, lol.
Group Total = 80 + 30 = 110 Bye for today, Ammi :grouphug: |
45 mins on my Gazelle
Group Total=110+45=155 Personal total 45mins |
My goal for the month is 500 minutes.
Today, I did.. absolutely nothing. Such a great start :P |
I started the month with 5 minutes on the elliptical and 40 minutes on the treadmill, making my total 45 minutes.
Group total - 155 + 45 = 200 |
25 mins on treadmill, 25 mins on bike and 15 mins of resistance training.
Personal Goal... 1650 - 65 = 1585 Group Total... 200 + 65 = 265 :carrot: We'll make it again everyone! Little steps...:carrot: Take care, Zelma |
Hello all!
Well March 1 is done - I did 30 minutes of walking and 6 minutes on the elpitical. 36 minutes! personal goal - 600 minutes - 36 = 564 to go! Group total = 301! :D |
Hi,
Need to add 30 mins of salsasize, so... Group Total = 301 + 30 = 331 Bye for today, Hugs, Ammi :grouphug: |
Hey All~~
I'm here to join the March thread. :D I didn't make my February goal, but I'm still going to set my March goal for 1200 minutes. That's 60 minutes a day for at least 5 days each week. I've set myself a VERY aggressive goal of being down at least 50 lbs. by May 1st. I didn't work out yesterday, but I worked on my feet for 8 hours. I'm not counting it in, but I wasn't just a slug either and I want you all to know that. :) Today I did 90 minutes at the gym--60 on the treadmill and 30 on the weight machines. So the new group total is: 90 + 331 = 421 :bravo: Not bad at all for only day 2. :carrot: |
Hey there guys
finally started back to exercising....1000-15 minutes =985 left to go 300+ total ~ 421+15= 436 minutes going to try to get more time in tonight but may not as I have some other stuff that I am trying to get finished up Brenda  |
I'm on a break from my cardio for the night, as my legs are still sore. But today, Susan and I were out shopping for like SEVEN HOURS. And a good portion of 5 hours was walking. We probably walked about 8 miles. Not going to count it towards my total or the group total, but it was good exercise!! And it lasted most of the day! lol
|
Okay, well I take that back. I felt lazy, even though my legs were sore...so I did the warmup of the workout 3 times through, which came to 10 minutes. It was fairly low impact, so I just did that. Hopefully, I'll be feeling better by tomorrow. But 10 mins is better than nothing, right?
436+10=446 |
Kayley - 10 minutes is definitely better than nothing!
Since I stayed home because of the snow I had to cancel with my personal trainer for tonight. :( So, I decided to do some extra at home. First I tried a new DVD I got from Netflix - Tahitian Cardio. It was OK, but I just don't have that kind of hip control. However, it was fairly low impact and generally do-able, but trying to coordinate the whole thing made it so I didn't feel like I really got my heart rate elevated. That was 30 minutes. Second, I did a strength training video with Susan Powter – remember her? I picked it up from Amazon Marketplace about a week ago. I remembered really liking the fact that she was always talking about good form and modifying. It is a good video - again do-able, but it was definitely challenging. That was 45 minutes. That makes my personal total 120 minutes. The group total is now 446 + 75 = 521 |
Another 36 minute day for me. Sooooo.....
Personal goal - 600 - 72 = 528 to go! 300+ total is now: 521 + 36 = 557 |
Nothing on the first - stayed in bed all day
35 minutes today - 30 weight machines and 5 elliptical so 800 - 35 = 765 557 + 35 = 592 and counting |
Kept to plan again today. 25 mins on treadmill and 25 mins on bike.
Personal Goal... 1585 - 50 = 1535 Group Total... 592 + 60 = 652 :carrot: Hope we all get moving over the weekend.:carrot: Take care, Zelma |
You guys are doing great, but I'm not! I've had the flu all week and haven't yet done any exercise. I know I can make this up (esp as things calm down for me a lot the middle of the month), but I can't help but feel like a slug! Send me your positive vibes!!
