Greetings chickies!

Catherine, I'm prolly talking to a wall when I tell you not to be too hard on yourself about your term paper grade. You are too much like me to listen. I know I did the same thing when my grandmother died while I was getting my masters degree and I have no head injury problems to attribute it to. BTW, it was the only B I received for a class and it was my primary concentration (immunology). *sigh* I received my Masters in microbiology in 1988, but I still vividly remember the incident. Red dirt music.. I love it! Sounds like the name of a great bluegrass band. BTW, I looked up some bluegrass band names and some were very clever.

Hugs Brandnew! I'm glad you are posting daily I'm going to try to do better too.

I'm off to vote too!

Luv,
Ratkity

Hello everyone. I have been posting mainly in calorie counters as well as anything in the general chatter lol, but i have been snooping at the 300 threads a lot lately and it looks like a great place to be.
A short background on me.. Im 44.. weigh over 300, and so tired of it. My ultimate goal is to be down to about 180, but im setting much smaller ones on the way.
I am american but i live in england right now with my wonderful hubby (who is thin and can eat what he wants, but i love him anyway lol). i look forward to getting to know you all and i hope its okay i just kinda jumped in here

Went to vote early this morning. They are saying we are having an extremely high turn out so far today. I dont care for the paper ballots that have to be filled in and then feed into the machine. I like the reg machines better!!
I had yesterday off from kids and today just have one so my routine is OFF!! Food has been good today so far...
hugs to all

Good Morning all,

I had to be at work today at 4:30 and worked until 9ish. I went straight to vote after that.

Jayme: Welcome! I'm so happy that you are here. Congrats on your baby coming.

Rat: My most favorite person to listen to play guitar is Willie Nelson. I just get so relaxed when I hear him play. So much so as a matter of fact that I have his album, "Red Headed Stranger" in my stereo all the time in my room and often play it when I can't sleep.

Bernice: I can't wait to see the picture. Sounds like you are still very busy.

Catherine: My parents used to go to Banff once in a while when they lived up here. I hope that next year Joel and I can drive up there to see all the wild roaming elk in the streets that they told me about. lol. Have fun.

Brandnewme: I love you new avatar. You are such a doll. Great job drinking all the water! Work is going well. We are expected to do 650 movies per hour and I am always pretty much at 747 per hour every day so they like me. lol. When I got to work this morning the movies weren't there yet from the post office and I was so proud of myself because while everyone else was sitting at the break table having donuts and coffee, I walked around and around the inside of the building. It is a huge warehouse. They ladies eating coffee and donuts were making fun of me but, who cares, I am doing it for me and my health.

Well, I am thinking about going to get my nails done. I didn't do it for my last reward at weight loss and I am considering doing it now. I'm not sure if I want fake nails though because it makes it harder to do things with. Okay, I just talked myself out of it. lol.

Blessings all,
Annie

Hello Everyone,

First, thanks for the support, PM's and prayers. This weekend was hard but thanks to the support I get here, my RT local friends, and the benefits of the last 2 months of taking care of myself really contributed to me making it through.

Secondly, I'd like some advice from those of you who work out at home, especially. I want to add strength training to my routines. Upper body and abs are a piece of cake - between the weights, resistance band, and stability ball, I have an unlimited set of exercises I can make more challenging as I move along. The problem is lower body. Due to knee and ankle problems and the fact that I weight over 300#, I can only do a limited number of lunges. I don't have access to a gym, so there go the machines I've used in the past. I was hoping that the various videos out there would help but the ones I've seen are mostly things I cannot do - too much strain on the knees and ankles (jumping, any number of variations on lunges, etc.). So, in short, I'm looking for good lower body strength training exercises I can do from home that are also low impact. What do you all do?

Carol & dgramie, I look forward to getting to know you all as well! This group of ladies is great and it feels good to go through this journey knowing you have support. When I went to workout this morning, I said, okay, don't forget to post and let the ladies know! LOL! It would be nice if we could have a group event yearly so we could actually meet one another, take pictures, and just share encouragment with each other. Of course, we would go out and celebrate all of our accomplishments, but we'd be good

I'm glad to hear that everyone is getting up and going out to excersise their right to vote! It is a priviledge that a lot of people don't have.

Today, I went to the gym and got in 55 min on the treadmill including the cool down; and 20 minutes on the weights. Today was legs! My butt was burning today! LOL! But, it's a good burn

Brandnewme- I usually make chicken veggie with a little brown rice thrown in. I use low sodium broth and tomato sauce for the broth. I throw in cut up veggies, adding up all the calories of everything as I go. At the end, I weigh my soup and have a "By the ounce" Soup. Usually around 14 - 16 calories per ounce. I only use the breast meat since that is lower and I absolutely love meat. I would make a horrid vegetarian. Sometimes lentils instead of rice. I can eat it everyday and not get tired of it.

Welcome Jima and 2C.. (sorry if I missed ya earlier 2C). My one brain cell fills up and sometimes misfires. hehe.

Good news (with fingers crossed): my knee seems to be better! Still no bicycle riding and now the time change has made me only able to ride on the weekends. Alas.. all for my health, right?

Annie, you're a 747! Dat's a powerful jet plane! Sorry, random ramblings tonight as I relax at home.

Hugs to all!

Hiya Peeps - not feeling very talkative tonight - the time change is dealing me fits. I did make it to the gym tonight - it felt good to be back after a week on the road. We've experienced some work stress the last few days with reduction in force/layoffs/elimination of many positions. I am good but it is hard to watch this happen.

There is some good news - I released 2.25 pounds this week. This was a validation for me that even on the road I made some good choices. Next time I'll see if they serve veggies too!

I'm fixing Anne's Orange Pork tonight - it's in the crockpot and ready to be tended to.

Hugs to each and every one of you,
Carol

Not much time, so no personals today. Just wanted to say that I am still doing fairly well. I have some planning issues I need to work out, but I knew I'd have to tweak everything as I went anyway so it's not really a big deal. I managed to make a whole batch of chicken breasts last night (some for soup, some for salads, etc) and that helped immensely. Just gotta keep going!

Brandnewme: Try to stay positive. Don't focus on all the things you haven't or can't do, but, take the time to pat yourself on the back for the things that you have done (Zelma taught me that) Take the time you need to organize what you'd like to do, and then, just take a step and do it. We're here for ya, and we have your back!

RaKitten: No worries! It's all luv here!

GGG: Congrats on the weightloss! Any pound loss is considered a WIN!

NuevaVida: I have the Taebo lower body workout; his bootcamp version. It's a great workout; and I weight over 300lbs too. You can do it at your own pace. Also, if you buy one of the gym balls, it comes with a lower body workout sheet and that thing makes you feel the burn. Pilates for the lower body is good too!

Dogpal: Did you enjoy your nail treatment? It's good to treat ourselves as we go through these changes.

Jimaterry: Welcome!

I didn't vote today, primarily because I voted weeks ago. My absentee ballot had to go by sled dog and carrier pigeon, so I had to do it weeks ago. There were 12 people on the Florida presidential ballot. I won't tell my husband who I voted for, and it's driving him nuts. Everytime he asks, I tell him who I voted for for county sheriff or school board. He cares about politics much more than I do. The only politician I like is my baby brother.

I've decided not to go to Banff. It's just too much pressure, and I'd rather focus on my schoolwork. I know that sounds wrong on so many levels, but at least I'm allowing myself to know what I want to do, and then doing it. Acting instead of reacting. Novel concept for me.
