Where is everyone?lol Well it is SO cold here, the rain has FINALLY stopped (so many places have floods, luckily we live in Derbyshire, a VERY hilly place, and we are halway up a very steep hill) but it has dropped the temps. Typically I had to go out to my creative writing class and FORGOT my gloves, it took ages to warm up, luckily this week the heating was on. My tutor Derek Fox (a published author of horror and historic novels) thinks I ought to submit one of my pieces, he thought it was very good. I didn't have the heart to tell him it only took 30-40 mins to write! lol What do I do? I'm terrified of rejection, even from a woman's magazine, but it would be a dream come true to be published, to be PAID for it would be PHENOMENAL!! If anyone wants to read it I can pm it to them, I'm not just posting it as I would get upset if someone read it & though it was cr*p.
Battle WTG, TV STAR!!!! The US financial stuff is really affecting the UK too, though it will be a while before it filters down to the average 'man on the street' it is very worrying. Why do loan/mortgage companies lend money to people who can't afford it? We only buy what we NEED, not want, I wish others did the same as it causes such suffering.xxxxxxx
Nancy, WTG on CLOSING that fridge door!!! All that dance, yoga & exercise, you must post some FULL LENGTH pics so we can see how much change YOU have caused in your body shape, BE PROUD. I always smile when I read how much you're doing, I'm so happy that you are enjoying it too.xxxxxxx ps Heath Ledger, what a terrible shame, he was so beautiful and a great actor, I almost cried, what a waste of a young, talented life.
Xena, are you still busy? How are you?xxxxxx
Valerie, so pleased the move went well, did you travel by horse box or ride/walk them? How about some pics of you ON GABE???? I will be smiling but GREEN from envy, lolxxxxxx
Kayley I thought the driving was related to the shop job, it sounds great, those kids will LOVE you. I HATE paperwork & the stupid way 'officials' change things without really letting people know! Get some sleep!!!!xxxxxx
Debbie so pleased ALL your dogs are getting better, I thought it was just TWO, lol.xxxx
HeatherDW, there HAS to be something wrong with that, I'd check out other sites, did you factor in your weight as someone 250-300+ can burn up tONS more cals than someone 120-10lbs. I hope you get your scales soon, lol but not TOO soon!!! Ammi used to get her hubby to hide the batteries so she only weighed in weekly! Though I hop on 2-3 times a week, losses spur me on, but gains, well... xxxxxxx
Annie, how are you & is this eating small amouts 'normal' for you now? I watched the same op you had be performed on tv, it was scary but the results!!!! How is work ?xxxxxx
I have to take the boys to school in a mo, so I'd better get them sorted out.
xxxxxsharon

Good morning all - boy am I tired this morning. You know how you feel when you first start being OP - kinda wired - can't sleep. That's how I was last night - not sure why but I feel it this morning. It was exciting though because the I was able to work through some new goals.

Well I had my dress pants altered - that's a new goal - to have them not be too snug - like they are this morning. I think I forgot what it is to have them touch me.

Have a great day - drink you water, move your bodies and SMILE.

Hugs,
Carol

Hello everyone! Just stopping by to say hello! I've been keeping up on your posts, but there hasn't been much going on here for me to post often.

My daughter has been dieting this time with me and she is down 15#! She has been working out like a maniac! She does eat 3 healthy meals and 2 snacks a day though! So, she is going about it the right way!

As for me - I've been working out and staying OP! I feel so much better. The weight is moving a little slower than I like.........but it is moving down. I haven't weighed 223 in a zillion years! I keep saying 4# more and I'll be in the teens again and I haven't seen that since 1999!

Nancy - I too love reading your posts! You share so much info! As far as your friend....I've been there too! She sounds like "someone" (me)I know!

Battle - You're on your way to fame girl!!!!! keep up the good work!

Hi Carol, Debbie, Ammie, Zelma, Catherine, Heather, Heatherdw, kaley and everyone else that I'm missing! Welcome to all the newbies! You'll love it here!

Good Morning!!

I am going to try to do this fast because when I tried to post yesterday this stupid computer locked up, which seems to be it's new habit!!

Debbie, Sharon, and Cyn: Doug also works nights-7pm-7am...but it's only 3 days a week unless there is OT. I am so totally OK with it because he has done this as long as we are married. It's waaay better than when we were on rotating days...5 days of 7am-3pm,then 3pm-11pm,then 11pm-7am. At least we were working the same times until I quit working 911. They finally went to steady tours a few years after I left. I think this whole thing started because Sammi was at a sleep over party and the boys were out watching some band, and Doug was at work that I had my revelation. I still have a while for "empty-nest" as Sammi is only 13 and the boys are 16(17 next month) and 18. It is just that they are growing up, don't "need" me as much, and I am feeling a little left behind. But I know it is all part of the job, and I hope I am doing it well enough. I have become a real worrier...which I never thought I would be. It has to be the hormones!!! I just don't know how my parents did this!!!

Battle: Looks like we have a real superstar on our hands!! on such a great and exciting experience!! I wish we could see it!

Catherine: I hope you are feeling better and the girls are not so painful. I remember that if even a piece of dust fell on them it would hurt. Just take it easy and I hope all goes well.

Kayley: I too thought you got the Fashion Bug job!! This one sounds much more rewarding.

Uh Oh, this stupid thing is slowing down again...I will try more again tomorrow!

Have a Great Day!

Good Morning Everyone!

Nancy--ty you are right I checked that ww pizza it actually was too many calories for too little food yet not enough calories (that make sence?) I wont buy it again.

Kimmie--I had not thought of that, the issue I am having is the aspertame is making me ill. So trying something with splenda. (not many choices)

Moosegirl--I will have to get a diet vanilla and try it.

I did very well yesterday even though it was another tough work day. I am trying to eat protein with every meal as someone suggested. This is hard because I am not a big meat eater. I was full longer and did not feel like a wild man when I got off work. I did drink 2 drpeppers but counted the points. And my lovely daughter made dinner for us last night... she made sloppy joes with 99%ff ground turkey breast and put lots of green pepper in it, on a whole wheat bun, and green beans. She was so sweet, she said I know you can eat this mommy. I would have eaten it no matter what because she had made it with so much love. I ended the day without gonig over points and felt pretty good.

Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Tina

Weight still isn't moving. Now, it could be the scale or it could be me. I had thought I was eating too many calories, but I read that you can eat *too few too*

The last 7 days, my calories broke down like this:
1634
1956
1645
1638
1858
1556
1829
1516

I weigh 332. Am I at the right place? Fitday software gives me some crazy hugh number for the amount of calories I need and I don't trust it. Maybe I should add a serving of Mono fats? (like a small serving of nuts?)

Hi everyone,

My interview went smashingly last night. Unfortunately, I got home to the tv a little too late to tape it, and missed the first part of the story. I was better this time than the other times. I'm getting better at it.

Also, I can say this here because you all understand--I looked great, maybe even pretty. After feeling like the most unattractive enormous beast for so long, it is amazing to see myself and think, hey, I don't look half bad! I shouldn't say anything about lighting and angles because you'll all yell at me, but the cameraman is very experienced and he knows exactly how to set up the scene and the lighting for the best results. It does help, I do look better than when a friend with no photography skills is taking a picture or video.

Seeing progress like this really helps me stay the course. For any of you just starting out, I came here and whined for the first 55 lbs lost because no one noticed, and I looked pretty much the same. It was discouraging. Then, all of a sudden, my appearance changed seemingly overnight, and everyone else noticed, too.

I am going out to dinner tonight and am trying not to eat too many calories during the day. It's always a tricky balance to stay full enough to keep the desperate bingy feeling at bay while saving enough calories to have a decent meal.

Have a great OP day everyone.

Battle, that's awesome!
I'm starting to feel that way now even though I just started less than a month ago. I sit here thinking "ugh... no progress, nobody can tell". I look forward to the day when I can feel the way you are now.

Way to go!

Kimmie, I didn't do any exercise to speak of for 9 months after I started it. I just couldn't get my head wrapped around it and the body just didn't want to move. You'll get to a point in your weight loss when you feel that you are ready. Just give it time.

Val, I'm so happy for you and the boys. They sound so much happier now that they are home. I don't really know the reason they were gone in the first place, or I had a memory fart, but I bet it's just nice to have them all home again. You sound like you are at peace now too. Go get some sleep!

Nancy, at least you realized what you did after you opened the fridge. And you had the good sense to close it back up. That's a great big huge NSV!!

Kayley, doesn't that just figure? Well I hope you got it all worked out.

Sharon, come on, submit your writing. It's better to know what someone thinks than to always wonder. Be brave, Sharon. Have faith in yourself!!

Jeanne, that's so wonderful that your daughter is doing so well. She's going to look like a knock out with all the exercise and eating right. Be so proud of her as I'm sure you are. It sounds like you are doing really well too. Keep up the good work!!

Donna, it's not a good feeling to not feel needed anymore. I certainly know what you mean. I also wonder how my parents made it thru raising my brother and I. Although I think they worry about us more than ever now that we are older with the way the world is going. You'll be fine. You'll figure it all out.

Tina, for staying within your points!

Heather dw, I thought Fitday and others that recommend how many calories a person my size should have, was too high. I try to keep it around 1400-1600 calories a day. I lose between 1-3 pounds a week, most of the time. I think your calorie range is good, but I'm not a nutritionist.

Battle, I told you, you were beautiful!!! Wow, I communicate with a tv star....I'm impressed. You go girl!

I don't know if I will exercise today. TOM is wreaking havoc. I'll have to see. I just don't want to stop now that I've started. Still staying OP though and drinking my water.
Everyone have a great day
Debbie

I got 2000 calories today and I hope that wasn't too many. I did get right at the sodium levels I was shooting at and was under on fat.

Fitday says that with my normal background activities and logged exercise, I burned 3,068 calories today. Supposed to go out to eat for my birthday tomorrow, so I know I'll be over but I'm hoping not too much. Will be doing a decent amount of walking too, so hopefully it will even out

Heather -- Fitday typically overestimate calories burned, and a lot of people don't pay attention to that side of the equation.

As for the "calories in" side of things... well, these are estimates too, but at over 300 pounds, I would think you can lose at a reasonable rate of 1-3 pounds a week eating an average of 2000 calories a day. But you do have to count everything you eat and drink.

But you also have to remember that weight loss isn't instantaneous or linear. There are all sorts of factors that affect your weight! So please please please give it a couple of WEEKS before you start to worry about your weight loss!!

Great job Heather dw. I agree with the other Heather that 2000 seems about right. It has worked well for me. I'm never hungry and can go about my normal life, as long as I plan and monitor. We are going to be at this for a very long time--actually we will be at this forever, so we need to take the long view. There will be ups and downs and the scale is not always going to show immediate results.

Stop obsessing about the calculators. If you eat about 2000 cals and increase your exercise, you should be fine. You can always adjust what you're doing along the way if it's not working. There is no scientific formula that can be applied to everybody. But you use the tools as a general reference, and can learn from the collective wisdom here added to your own knowledge of what works for you.

Sharon: PLEAAAAAASE submit your writing. The answer is definitely no now, isn't it, if you don't try. There is only an up side.

Not only is the US financial problems hitting you there, but the UK has its own house of cards going on. The consumer debt in the UK is extremely high. It's a little concerning to think about the domino effect that could take place in your country and around the world once conditions start to change. Not that I want to be a harbinger of doom, or anything. : )

Emilymay: if your uniform is loose, you must be losing fat (but replaced by muscle weight). Even if you can't see it on the scale, it sounds like you are making progress. I hope to see you make even more.

Debbie: Ugh. TOM. I feel lucky just to maintain the bare minimum OP when he's coming around.

GTL: Congrats on your loss!

I'm heading out to dinner. I'm a little hungrier than is good for me, so it's going to take some serious concentration at the restaurant to stay OP.

Have a great night everyone!
