...To the February exercise thread! We're trying to make exercise a habit, give ourselves some accountability, and get healthier in the process!
In this thread, we're setting the number of MINUTES we want to exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Early in the month (or before it starts) set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away.
We're also tracking how many minutes we have exercised as a group! In 2006 we came close to 200,000 minutes. I'd love to see us surpass that goal this year.
To start, please first post your goals and then add your minutes (for yourself and the group) and get some support and accountability!
If you want to join us during the month -- GREAT! Just let us know how many minutes you want to exercise in what's left of the month!
Finally, if you're new to this, pay attention to how to add your minutes to the group... people get confused if they can't easily see our new total. I recommend showing the previous total, then your minutes, then the new total (which should be the sum of the other 2 numbers). For example, if the group had done 500 minutes already and you did 30, here's what you would do:
Group total ~ 500 + 30 = 530 minutes
Let's continue to make 2007 great by more moving and shaking!!
Woohoo! Put me down for 400 minutes in February.I've reached (and passed) my January goal of 300,so I know I can do 400 easily in February! Can't wait to get started.I'll probably squeeze in another work-out in January but I'm already pumped for next month.
Good Job Iwannalooseit on reaching your goal! I have reached mine for two months in a row and it feels so great doesn't it. We can do this gang.
Okay. For my third month I have decided to put my goal up to 750. December was 100, January was 300 both of them were met and passed so, I need to up it a bunch. 750 for February it is! Good luck all and lets keep moving.
I'm going to err on the side of caution again. I HATE it when I set a goal and don't meet it-it makes me feel like a loser-in a BAD way, so I'm going to be conservative and up my time by only 100 minutes.
Well after feeling cr*ppy for ages & getting ill I WILL DO 1,500 minutes!!!!! SO THERE!!lol! At least in February!!!!! I'll be 42 VERY soon, I don't want to be in a wheelchair EVER, so IT HAS TO BE DONE before I get too old & infirm!!!!

Terri -- Thanks for mentioning it's a shorter month -- I forgot to say so in the opening!
I think I'm going to set 1400 minutes. That's 50 minutes/day, which is higher than my other goals, but I think I can get there next month. I have time to fit it in... unless I get sick or injured!!
Oh, my, have I slacked in January! I think I'm only around 300 for the month! (Sis got a new job and that interrupted our/my routine.) I also need to set a schedule. 30 minutes beginning within 90 minutes of rising, MTThF, and thus I'll adjust the goal down to 480.
OK. This month I'm going with a new tactic. Instead of minutes, I'm going with times. I'm going to exercise 20 times. I'll just add my minutes in as I do them, but regardless of minutes, I'm going to exercise on 20 days out of 28.
Yay, more new people!!! It's great you're getting started and I'm pleased to see people setting goals, whatever they are. The important thing, for me, is making the commitment! It really gets me moving when I realize I'm falling behind on my exercise goals, because I have made the commitment...
And Valerie, that could be a great idea! Good for you for trying something different.
Okie dokie here I am with my target for this month. As I have actually dropped the amount of exercise I am doing, giving myself a break on the weekends so that if I hit a plateau I have those days to exercise on and hope it will make a difference. So my target for February is 1200 minutes.
