Jenny In the US, food manufacturers are allowed to subtract calories from fiber from the total calorie count. In Canada, they have to list those as regular calories. Have you heard of hungry girl? She wrote about in one of her articles.
It has to do with the fact that fiber calories aren't absorbed by the body the way "regular" calories are.

Jess- Thats what I was thinking...It doesnt make sense that in the US they are lying to us about how many calories something has... Just like resturants... calorie counts on things are never right...just like I have no clue how many calories my potatoes I ate tonight have.... GRRR

Jenny- I would rather over estimate my calories than under... if two boxes said different things I'd go with the higher just to be sure

I cant wait for mac and cheese!!!

I'm also kind of a bum...there has been so many things going on every weekend... mostly drinking adventures and I just dont feel like going out and drinking and eating with people... I like my freaking box
Saturday I'm going to see an 80's cover band in Baltimore... I need to dress up... however I dont even have clothes that fit for my everyday life let alone clothes that are proper 80's attire..ugh...plus plans cut back on the studying time...and I've been trying to be really good about studying... just a little bit more than 2 months til I finally take my test...

EDIT- BFF is giving me crap about saying I dont want to drink on her birthday... shouldnt I get to control that?

I also found out that my brother moved his wedding date and I will be on the other side of the country... kinda bummed about it

Thanks for welcome!

Feral, I'm 5'2, so a bit shorter than you.

Just to give an example of what I eat in a day:

breakfast: banana and water
lunch: Healthy choice meal, snack size Milky Way, water
afternoon snack: 1/4 cup almonds, 1/3 cup dried apricots
dinner: Chicken tacos- two medium whole wheat tortillas, light sour cream mixed with a dash of ranch seasoning, diced chicken breast, 1/4 cup 2% cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato

This ended me at about 1500 calories.

(I have to make my way through my not-so-good for me foods right now because I refuse to throw them out and waste, so I'm sprinkling them in as I go until I can fill my kitchen with all healthy options).

I've already planned for tomorrow and it has me with about 200 calories below 1500 to make room for an evening snack at school (I teach and have a meeting until about 7 tomorrow night).

Haley - What? That sucks about the wedding :C And tell your BFF that you'll be DD, and that if you don't want to drink then it's up to you! You can still all go out and have fun!

I went out for ice cream with my sister and friends after dinner and then we came back to my house and had a dance party It was a blast because we haven't had one in aaaaages and I worked up a good sweat/burn while bustin' a move lol! Now I'm pumped to get up and go spinning tomorrow!

Hm, that makes sense about that fiber thing. Your body doesn't absorb fiber at all, which is why you need to stay hydrated to push the fiber out or you get some major constipation (which in itself cracks me up. I'm like a 2 year old).

Haley - Tell your BFF that you'll be there for her bday and y'all will have a blast. Most of my friends understand when I tell them I'm on my healthy sobriety pledge and they're all uber supportive because they know how hard I've worked. Maybe your BFF doesn't see how hard it is and how much work you've put in to get where you are, so just tell her She'll understand.

Oh yeah, do you like spinach dip? Because I made that tonight. It was awesome, though I could taste the fat-freeness of the cream cheese. But still pretty good.

Mary - I TOTALLY FORGOT TO TELL YOU. I LOVE THE HAIR.

Jess72 - Blegh, FF cream cheese tastes the worst. BUT I've discovered that the 1/3 FF one isn't so bad. I'd rather put a pinch of fat in and have it taste better than have the FF one. Do you have a recipe for this spinach dip? Cause I love me some spinach dip. Spinach, mmmm Also, thank you!!! I can't wait to play with my extensions, too - there will definitely be picture spam when I have them ready to show off lol!

Mary - The FF cream cheese isn't THAT bad if there's like something strong to mask it (and usually I don't use enough to really really taste it). Will link you to recipe soon! It's really, REALLY easy. Yeah, if you don't like the FF I'd use the reduced fat one cause I mean, a lot of it is cream cheese and so you'd for sure be able to taste the fat-freeness haha.

I get a bubble bath tonight for running 4 miles. Score. Ok, off to run Have a good night ladies!

I'm with Mary - a little fat goes a long way.

Jess, I tried that Better'N Peanut Butter. Um it's not. It actually kind of made me gag a little . I'm actually kind of pi$$Ed that I bought a whole jar. I'll take my regular peanut butter any day and deal with the calories.

Haley - that's ridiculous! You don't have to drink to have a good time! She should just be happy that you're going.

Okay it's too early - hopefully I can sleep on the plane.

My mini-woosh has continued today, sending me to 223.5, which means I met my -20lbs mini-goal! Yay!

Stella - have a good flight!

Jess - Thanks chica

Stella - Aww sorry about your PB :C I like some of the reduced fat brands, which usually have about 10 calories less than reg. PB. Sun Butter (sunflower seeds instead of peanuts) is ok too. But I usually just take my PB full fat. Where are you jetting off to today?

Aliquot - GO YOU!!!

I'm up. I'm not as pumped as I was last night, but that's probably due to the fact that I was up late doing my homework annnnd then I had to get up to pee a few times (yeaaaahhh huge water bottle right before bed - so not the best idea lol) and on top of that I didn't sleep well because I was having bad dreams all night.

BUT I am down another 0.5lbs today, hooray :3 No more peeking on the scale until April 1 lol. I am awake and I am going spinning!

See ya later ladies!

Good Morning Lovelies!!!!

SAM - CONGRATS!!!! That is AWESOME! I still have yet to make it to 20.... I keep teetering around and it's so close yet so far. LOL Wasn't your goal for June? I'm sure you can knock off another 10 by then!!!!

Mary - I want a dance party. I usually have those by myself.

Haley - I'm in the same boat. I know I'm going to get a bunch of $hit next week for the BFF's BF's bar crawl. I'm planning on playing DD so that I can NOT drink. And yes, it should be your choice, but it's never so easy when you have everyone fussing about you NOT drinking like its a big deal. People pretty much suck. I do much better in my box.

Jess - get that recipe up!!!!! Sounds soooo yummy!

Jazz Jess - let us know how the 5K goes! That's so exciting!!!! There was a lady at the chiro the other day that was talking about a marathon she just ran. She had to be in her 40s. She was in great shape for sure....I wanna be like that when I'm in my 40s. ****, I wanna be like that now!!!!

Stella - for your craptastic morning. I hate the airport super early, mostly because I'm usually wearing my grumpy pants.

-----------------
I'm going to the gym this afternoon and I'm really excited. Well, mostly excited. I'm ready to get back into a routine and eat healthy and feel better and not icky and bloated due to bad foods.

Although, I am debating going by the shoe place directly after work or whether I'm going to do that this weekend. I kind of want some awesome shoes for my first day of working out, but at the same time I don't want to get to the gym with the rush. I guess I'll see how the day goes.

Breakfast today is yogurt with a few almost thrown in. Lunch is chicken salad and green beans.

I think dinner may be lentil soup. I can eat that for a few days and it's supposed to get cold again tomorrow. Depends on if I feel like cooking it or not when I get home.

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!!

Chele - Your body produces vitamin D naturally through exposure to the sunlight, but if you live in the northern part of the US/Canada, the amount of sunlight that reaches you during the winter/early spring isn't strong enough to trigger vitamin D production. I've never been tested, but I take a vitamin D supplement during the winter and it seems to help minimize some of the SAD sypmtoms I get during winters here.

Jenny/Jess - Dude, I'm totally pissed about the calories vs. fiber calories thing. Seems misleading for those of us who want to be informed about what we're eating!

Stella - Safe travels!

Mary - Adorable hair cut!!!! And yay for dance parties - I need to have more of those!

Ali - Congrats on the loss - good for you!

Jazz Jess - Good luck on the 5K! I'm not sure when my first one of the season will be, but I'm definitely not ready for it now...

Feral - Lentil soup sounds soooo good right now Have fun at the gym!

Oh my gosh, I am so sore this morning! I did a hard run in the morning yesterday since I'm trying to get back into training for the triathlon this summer, and then I went to two hours of dance class last night. No one else showed up for the contemporary class, so it was basically a private lesson for me, which makes it way more intense than a normal class. This morning on the way to work, I was cataloging everything that hurts, and I think my ankles are about the only things that are doing alright right now Oh well, yay for extra strength pain killers!

But the big news today is that it sounds like this whole "us buying a house tomorrow" thing might actually happen. We hit a little snag with the appraisal where the FHA inspector wouldn't sign off on it on Monday because there weren't any railings on the open staircase, but fortunately, the seller still had the railings, so she ran back, put them up and the inspector went back yesterday and signed off on everything. Our paperwork is in final underwriting today and then they're going to call me with the amount of money I have to bring to closing. Crazy to think that this might all happen - that by tomorrow at 5pm, we'll be homeowners!

But I suppose that means I better get some work done - there's no way I'm going to be focused tomorrow!
