misspiggy: they have 3 different versions. The Original, the supermarket one and the one for kids. (I don't have the one for kids, but so far I like the other two)
If you are looking to buy them, I'd definitely try to get them on sale or on ebay. I like them and I think they're good books to have...but in bookstores they're $20. I like that it compares foods for you. (Did you know you can save 200 calories and almost 20 grams of fat by choosing the Big Mac over the Whopper with cheese?) Crazy. lol Even though I'm trying to avoid fast food right now. I like that it compares the food in other ways too (Did you know that drinking one arizona kiwi strawberry 23.5 oz can is the equivalent in sugars to eating 7 bowls of froot loops?) I made out a grocery list based on some of it's suggestions....now I just need to get my booty to the store! :) I think there's a link somewhere on the board that says what all the abbreviations stand for. Not sure where it is. Feel free to ask though....it took me forever to figure out what some people were talking about between the DH and DD and DS and SIL..... :dizzy: |

misspiggy: I always weigh myself in the mornings personally. I do weigh less in the mornings than at other points during the day. (Actually, today I was 154.6 which made me happy But it's not Monday so my ticker is staying where it is). I can't help it...I like to weigh myself in the mornings as part of my routine. I have committed to only updating my ticker on Mondays though.
Urthwurm: I'm with misspiggy. It was a special occasion. As long as you don't let yourself have too many special occasions, you'll be ok. Tuesday, Jan. 6th Breakfast 2 slices white wheat toast 110 cal Morning snack *small* piece of cookie cake 145 cal Lunch medium skinny muscle punch smoothie 396 cal (I want to add a little blurb here: I usually use daily plate for my calorie tracking if I forget what the packaging said. Well, according to smoothie king's site, a medium skinny muscle punch is 396. on the daily plate, someone put that it had 420 calories.) Afternoon Snack veggie chips 140 cal Dinner 1 slice honey wheat bread 60 cal cucumber slices 5 cal 1 serving FF cream cheese 30 cal 6 crackers 120 cal 3 carrots 50 cal 100 calorie yogurt 100 cal 1 small banana 60 cal 1/2 serving cranberry juice 65 Evening Snack Total Calories 1281 Exercise 35 minutes belly dancing (did the full program when they aired one again) 50 bicep curls |
QuietBallerina: I already changed my ticker! LOL Guess I jumped the gun on that one! I think I should also commit to moving it once a week. I think I was just too excited about me being down to 154 again, especially after my 4 lb weight gain recently ... and congrats on 154.6, THAT'S AWESOME!

misspiggy: it's completely up to you when you change your ticker. I just know that my weight changes sometimes...and I don't want to make my ticker go to the left. :(
I'm sure you're thrilled with your loss. Congratulations on it! :) Tonight I'm going to write out my "mini-goals" rewards list. I'll probably post it here to share with y'all. It's just going to be a list of little things I'm going to give myself as a way of saying "good job" when I lose the weight. ~~~~~ I flip on fitTV sometimes to see if they have any fun exercise segments. just now they had one on called "shimmy" and it was belly dancing. I only did it for 5 minutes at first (just missed the show) but a different one came on later and I did it. Whew! rough. But kind of fun. :) |
How are we doing today ladies? I was *so* tired this morning. Had trouble dragging myself out of bed. I wanted to get a coffee, but I didn't know what I could pick from the menu to make a smart calorie choice...so I had to just go without. I might get one this afternoon though.
Wednesday, January 7th Breakfast skipped :( Morning snack string cheese 80 cal Lunch 1 serving pasta 200 cal partial serving sauce 40 cal 1 serving green beans 20 cal 1 coke 140 cal Afternoon snack small nonfat caramel macchiato 170 cal Dinner 1 alternative pita 110 cal 1 serving turkey 50 cal 1 serving hummus 50 cal 1 serving baby romaine lettuce 15 cal 1/2 serving cranberry juice 60 cal (i mix with water, half and half) Evening snack 2 servings of reduced fat triscuits (14 crackers total) 240 cal 1 serving laughing cow garlic & herb cheese 35 cal Total Calories: 1210 Exercise 30 min walk pushing double stroller 20 min elliptical |
QuietBallerina: Get a coffee girl! If your going to Starbucks try their tall, skinny vanilla latte. It's yummy and low in cals. If you don't want anything fancy then get a straight coffee and put your own low cal creamer/sweetener in it. I know on WW, a cup of straight black coffee is only 1 point, so I'm assuming it's very low in cals. Do you drink tea? I used to be a coffee drinker, and then I started drinking tea while I was prego and now i'm hooked. Plus with tea, you don't have to worry about adding any kind of creamer, just sweetener, and it gives you a "boost" just like coffee :D
Tuesday January 6th: Daily points allowance: 23 Breakfast: 2 cups mixed fruit - 2 points Lunch: 1 cup chicken noodle soup - 2 points 1 cup cucumber - 0 points Dinner: Lean Cuisine pasta - 6 points Snacks I ate after dinner: about 2 servings tortilla chips - 6 points 1 SUPER THIN slice of salami - 3 points (it's actually less) 2 cubes low fat swiss cheese - 1 point 3 small mexican cookies - 3 points EXERCISE: run, 3.15 miles (interval) + 4 points Total points used: 19 |
Haha I know I know....I actually did get one (so glad Target has a Starbucks in their store) when I went to run some of my errands. I got a small nonfat caramel macchiato. Not too bad at 170 calories.
Now I'm feeling quite energized. I ran errands at Target, then went to the grocery store, came home to unload stuff, swiffered my bathroom floor, and I'm going to eat some dinner soon so that it can digest a little before I work out tonight. When I was grocery shopping I made up a list of stuff based on suggestions from eat this, not that and I found quite a few of the items. One thing I was super excited about is the "alternative pita" and the "alternative bagel" (both made by western bagel). They're pretty close to actual pita and bagel size, and they're only 110 calories. (I looked at their other nutritional content and everything seems low...both have great fiber counts I think...8g and 7g is good, right? Sodium might be the only thing that's a bit high.) I'm actually going to have one of the pitas for dinner, so I hope they taste good! haha Oh! and Target had a bunch of their workout DVDs on sale for $13, so I picked up a Tae Bo DVD to add to my collection. |
I LOVE Tae Bo!! I haven't done it in a long time though. I'm a target junky, but it never dawned on me to look at their workout videos. Next time I go i'm going to see what they have. Hopefully it will be on sale too! LOL Let me know how the pitas are!
|
Any time I'm in Target I swing by the exercise section to see if they have the DVDs on sale. I am a total junkie too though...haha
I haven't done Tae Bo since high school....so I have a feeling it's gonna be tough to do. I'd rather hit the gym tonight first though. Just waiting until a little later because it isn't normally as crowded then. The pita was good! I really feel nice and full after eating it (not stuffed like I feel sick, but not still hungry either). It was a little dry (pita bread normally is though I think), but I think I might try putting a little salad dressing in it next time. |
urthwurm: How are you feeling lately? Hope you're doing better. Have we lost Lycan? :(
misspiggy: The only tea I drink is usually the flavored (and caffeine free) teas that celestial seasonings makes. I don't think I have any with caffeine. Coffee always seems to give me a bigger boost though. I don't think I've ever said this before in my life: I wish it was Monday (here's why....) I am absolutely giddy! I got on the scale this morning and it said 153.8!! I couldn't believe it, so I got off the scale and then got back on. Still said the same thing. :carrot: Thursday, January 8th Breakfast 1 alternative bagel 110 cal 1 serving FF cream cheese 30 cal Morning Snack baby carrots 30 cal string cheese 80 cal Lunch baby carrots 30 cal baby romaine lettuce 15 cal raw broccoli 25 cal balsamic vinegarette 70 cal string cheese 80 cal Afternoon Snack small Angel Food smoothie 354 cal (oops. Forgot to ask them to make it skinny) Dinner 1 serving almonds 160 cal 1 serving triscuits 120 cal 1 serving laughing cow 35 Evening Snack chocolate (I forgot how many calories though...I'll say 200?) Total Calories: 1339 Exercise 30 min walk pushing a double stroller |
QuietBallerina: You're right, coffee does give a better boost! I used to be a starbucks JUNKIE - triple shot lattes - it was THAT bad!! Oh, and congrats on your loss! Your shrinking :carrot:
Weds January 7th: DAILY POINTS ALLOWANCE: 23 Breakfast: Kashi granola bar - 3 points (it's actually on the border line 2/3pts) lUNCH: Lean Cuisine Panini - 7 points Dinner: Cup and a half of chicken pasta - 7 points Ok so i broke down and had a few beers last night :( (rough day at work) But that's no excuse. I am so disappointed in myself! It's like calories I wasted  Beers: 10 points (wow) EXERCISE:run 3.15 miles, intervals +4 points TOTAL POINTS USED: all 23 of them! I am doing good today and don't plan on having a day like yesterday! PROMISE! But they are having a bday lunch here @ work today, and they ordered PIZZA! You know I can't pass up pizza, so instead i'm leaving and going to workout the same time of the luncheon. This way, I can pass it up for sure! Wish me luck! |
