Ok. Well if it's alright with everyone (since my girlfriend "UrthWurm" invited me to the challenge) I would like to join in on the group and share my daily progress in exercise and diet with you.

My goals are simple:
Eat no more than 1,600 calories a day (in organic/all natural food as much as possible.)

Do 30 minutes of walking 5 days a week at least.

Do 100 sit-ups, 100 bicep curls (or more) and 100 squats everyday.

Rest on Saturday.

PS: I will so be Biggest A$$ Kicker of the week. lol.

I started today off pretty well, but managed to mess myself up by falling asleep in the afternoon for about 2 or 3 hours! I therefore had a very late lunch, & right around the time I might be getting hungry enough for a snack, came inside from the snow to see my mom & step dad making "breakfast" for dinner. Pancakes, bacon-- YUM! Lycan & I are trying to stay on a pretty strict Whole food diet, eating organic where we can afford. The only compromise we're making for non-organic foods are ones that don't have a ton of additives, or don't include high fructose corn syrup, MSG, riboflavin, partially hydrogenated soybean, etc. So we looked at the food, a little cold & wet from the outside world & largely craving some warm tasty goodness! We tried to tell ourselves that we could have our own breakfast for dinner: make some frenchtoast using organic bread, walk a few miles to the store for turkey bacon & organic hot coco (WANT IT BAD), but then they offered it to us. Hey, you guys hungry? Oh yes we frickin' are! Needless to say we sat down & ate that food, riboflavin, high fructose corn syrup, & all! I even ate the bacon, even though we've decided to stop eating pork! I feel a little guilty but I'm trying to get over it. I know that I can't always eat the way I want, but it kills me knowing I chose to eat it! Missed my mid-day snack, so my calories were a bit lower than usual today. I'll do better tomorrow though! :halffull: No more little indulgences. I completed all my goals for today, except one! I'm way too exhausted to start, let alone complete, the Hip Hop Abs dvd. That, I'm afraid, is one goal I'll have to let slip away, & make sure not to miss tomorrow! But anyways, it's getting a little late here, so I better head off to bed. I hope the rest of you had productive, goal-reaching days as well! & I hope to hear from you tomorrow.

Welcome to the thread Lycan!

Awesome job Urthwurm (and I love the way you set up your list of things you accomplished!) Naps usually throw my day for a loop too. Don't beat yourself up too much over the pancakes and syrup: There's always tomorrow (well, today...haha you know what I mean).

How are the others out there doing?

Friday, Dec 19th:
So far, so good when it comes to daily calories. I'm only at 1135, So that still leaves about 100 for a snack later on. Woo hoo! :)

I haven't exercised yet though.

Quiet Ballerina 12-20-2008 02:27 PM

...How did we manage to lose everyone else? :(

I realize it's only been a day or so, and some people don't check in on weekends. So hopefully some will come back.

Hope Friday went well for you Lycan and Urthwurm!

:( I didn't exercise Friday though.

UrthWurm 12-21-2008 01:47 AM

I have no idea, but I'm shocked to see the others haven't checked back in yet!

Friday was also a bust for me.
I didn't reach any of my goals except a walk, but only a 15 minute one since it's so dang cold here! We have like 6-8 inches of snow right now, & it's supposed to keep on snowing all through December!! I haven't seen this much snow since I was 12! The roads are just covered, you can't even see where the road ends & sidewalks begin.

Anyways, yesterday was a bit of a bad day. Basically instead small portions 5-6 times throughout the day, I ended up reverting to 3 large meals. I found it made me feel rather sick & more lethargic. Needless to say, I'm trying desperately not to make that mistake again. Lycan & I were faced with the issue of where to work out (for such things as HHA vids) since the garage which we recently cleaned has hence been filled up with more crud. Honestly, there's too much stuff to even re-organize out there! So I was looking at the space we have & considering how we could work out in our room. I wanted to just prop the bed up against the wall so we could put the dvd in our computer & have the space to do it, but Lycan said that it would be too dangerous with the bed frame sticking out. So, we went to work trying to take this thing apart (turns out it had to be unscrewed & then it folded up). By the time we got done, we were too exhausted to work out! I fell asleep around 1 or 2 & slept over 12 hours! I just feel gross now. =[

I sympathize Ballerina, but we just got to get out there & do it! No more excuses or letting obstacles get in the way! I set out to do this, & I really need to hold myself to it; You do as well. Just tell yourself you'll do better tomorrow, & make time for the exercises you have planned. Don't let missed opportunities of today blind you to the possibilities of tomorrow!

Lycan 12-21-2008 04:29 AM

I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday...I was bad. =( !!! I didn't count my calories or work out but I ate well in organics and had a nice salad.

Saturday December 20:
Calorie Intake: 1,215

Exercise: None
(I did walk around running back movies at blockbuster for 5 hours though?
Does that count for a walk?) Anyways tomorrow I don't work, and the room is set up for exercise so I'm ready to go.

I woke up rather late since I slept for 12 hours, & then had to go to work pretty much right away. Because of this I didn't have a lot of time to workout Saturday; I had to go to sleep pretty recently after I got home so I could wake up for work today! Oh joy, working in the morning.. Well I did get 100 crunches done & 100 bicep curls, but my walk was pretty much a bust as well. I did walk around Blockbuster putting back movies & stood kind of uselessly at the front counter for a bit-- can that count as a walk? I'm just saying it does. ;P I actually ended up eating okay yesterday, but realized when I was ready to go to sleep that I was about 200 calories shy of 1200c/day-- & I think I've heard people say you should eat at least 1200? So anyways, I did probably the strangest thing I've ever done in the history of my eating habits: I licked a Tablespoon full of peanut butter, drank a glass of milk, & called it 1200 Calories. Yeah, I've never found myself ready to head to bed, suddenly thinking: Oh no! I haven't eaten enough today! I better go lick a tablespoon of peanut butter, that will make everything better. But anyways, besides being a bit strange, it was a pretty good day. Oh, but those ritz I ate were non-organic, probably full of additives (they were in our Christmas stockings at work, I couldn't help myself). Overall, not a bad turnout. I still wish I could have gotten more done though. How about you, Quiet Ballerina? How did you do Saturday?

Quiet Ballerina 12-22-2008 12:17 AM

Saturday, December 20th
Saturday was good for me calories wise. I had a day off from work, so I got to sleep in and then run some errands that I needed to do. I wound up not going to the gym as planned, but I did get in some exercise at home instead. Wish I had gotten to do more though. :(

Sunday, December 21st
I had dinner plans with a friend, but I knew what I was going to eat ahead of time so I planned for it all day. :) We had a nice time, so that was a fun treat for me.

Also got in some non-traditional exercise (partially at work, playing around with the kids when they were all hyper and such -I'm a nanny- and partially after dinner with my friend when we walked around a mall for at least an hour. lol) I don't know if just walking around a mall is really "exercise" but it's a lot better than sitting on my booty at the computer all evening.

Sorry y'all don't have the space to exercise! What a bummer. :(

It was probably a good call to eat that extra little bit of calories urthwurm.
Not to sound like a mom or anything...but you don't seem to be getting many fruits and veggies? Do you not like them?

How was Saturday and Sunday for you Lycan?

Lycan 12-22-2008 06:45 AM

Whoops...I said Friday in my last post, I meant Saturday. Any who...

Sunday December 21:
Calorie Intake: 1,292

Exercise:
25 crunches
(No walk: to frickin' cold outside. Burr.)
I cleaned up more of the room, lifting heavy objects and running around.

Ok, so does anyone else notice I'm having trouble with the exercise portion of this new lifestyle? Yeah, I'm usually excited to do exercise and have no problem with it; things just seem to be occupying my time more than they should, and then all of a sudden I'm really tired and the day is gone.

I would ask "what do I do?" But I know what I need to do, I just can't seem to do it for some reason? Help???

I'm often caught up on the computer doing designs for my website or doing things to promote it; what can I say it's like a second job, I can ignore it. I just can't ignore myself either. How do I balance the scales, and make myself stick to it?

Quiet Ballerina 12-22-2008 08:41 AM

oh! forgot to mention: I only ate half of my dinner, brought the rest home. But I'm not eating it today, I'll let someone else have it

Lycan: why don't you set a timer by your computer? Every 30 minutes when the timer goes off, do 10 minutes of exercise?

misspiggy408 12-22-2008 07:05 PM

My stats are almost the same ... Is it too late to join you ladies?

Quiet Ballerina 12-22-2008 11:24 PM

Not too late at all! Sadly, most of the people that showed interest initially haven't come back to visit.

misspiggy408 12-23-2008 12:31 PM

Monday December 22ND:

Breakfast:

2 cups mixed fruits: apple slices, pineapple slices, grapes and melon. (About 2-3 WW points)
2 cups tea with 1 packet splenda per cup

Lunch:

Subway's oven roasted chicken breast on wheat w/ veggies and mustard only. (6 WW points)
1 bag Light Lays potato chips made with olestra (I believe they are only 75 cals/bag w/no fat, but i just heard that they are BAD for you, so that's the last time I will be eating those :( )
1 unsweetend ice tea

Dinner:

2 ranchero chicken soft tacos, fresco style (no cheese/sour cream, only 3 WW points/ea)
1 side salad, no dressing
1 diet sierra mist

I NEVER usually eat out this much, but i didn't grocery shop last week LOL But I finally shopped last nite :)

EXERCISE:

- 10 minutes stretching
- 40 minutes on treadmill. Went 3.75 miles and burned 500+ cals (according to treadmill)
- X-mas shopping from 5pm until 8:30pm *I know this isn't really an exercise, but I was on my feet whole time! heehee *

Oh, and I had 2 bite sized reese's peanut butter cups (the little christmas ones) But working out gave me 5-6 extra WW points to eat during the day, so I think I'm good. Plus, chasing after my little is a workout too!

Quiet Ballerina 12-23-2008 02:48 PM

Urthwurm: I had such a ditz moment! I didn't do HHA on Sunday. I didn't realize it until yesterday that I had missed our HHA day.

Monday, December 22nd
I surprised myself by sticking to my calorie range...ate out a lot yesterday but still chose wisely. Yay! (And I MUST give myself kudos for passing up on this delicious looking dessert that someone at the table ordered for everyone to share. I really really wanted a bite, but I didn't have any.

These next couple of days are going to be rough (my birthday is tomorrow, then Christmas....eek).

I have a bone to pick with my scale though. Saturday and Sunday morning I weighed 155.2, but when I got on the scale Monday morning I was back to 157.2! (I guess it was just a normal fluctuation.)

So far today I'm doing good on calories. I have plenty left over for an afternoon snack and for dinner.

misspiggy: Welcome to the thread! Congratulations on your loss so far! that's awesome!!
