SkinnyBeach- As I wrote above, I count calories too.

How many calories are you guys all aiming for (taking into account that at restaurants you never know how things are cooked and it's hard to always know how much a proper serving size is)?

Oh what a long day. I had to get up extra early because I had to drive to my school from the clinic because of the air conditioning problem. I then rush around my apartment got ready for my internship and threw, frozen chicken, black beans, and canned tomatoes in the crock pot for dinner. I couldn’t take eating fast food again. The I went to the clinic worked all day got back to my apartment, my wii fit(which I can’t hook up until I get a new VCR) was knocked over by maintenance (yes I’m pissed and said they can replace it if it doesn’t work.) I argued with management, called their bosses and complained about their attitudes and the compensation and finally the A/C started working.

I went to the gym and did a new personal best 1 hour 20 minute work out. I am up to 20 minutes on the elliptical machine which is a personal best, that beats my old personal best of I did 10 minutes with a 2 minute cool down.

I just realized that I have like 600 calories prior to talking my exercise into account so I need to eat something. My first thought was ice cream but I realize that undoes everything I do so I am still debating.

Taylor – that was my opinion about the water. As for the other matter talk to your trainer and follow up with us. That is a good question, I don’t normally take my exercise into account I consider it a bonus. Sounds like you are having a good day calorie wise, as for your trainer everyone needs a little spluge once in awhile. Yes it is not the most nutritious option but 1. You could have done a lot worse and 2. It’s not like you are eating it everyday.

Tess – Sounds like the wedding planning is going really well and on your apartment note I will never rent another apartment without a washer and dryer. I hate having to go to the laundry room.

Tara – I guess it could be worse if there was a 2 year old running around, I hate said kids. It’s ok to adjust your goals based on progress you might need to give yourself more time now but later you be able to speed things up. I’m a calorie counter, I found it works best for me because nothing is not allowed.

Arts - its funny you made the gym a/c comment because I guess when the a/c was out all weekend the gym was the only place that had it because it is actually part of the hotel next door not the apartment building.

Shauna – Welcome back!!!

Skinny – as I said I’m a calorie counter and I love it. It’s the best method for me. Also I love vegetables as long as they are well prepared (aka not over cooked). They are a staple of my diet.

Hey all
I hope everyone's been doing good. I think diet wise I've been a little iffy this week/weekend. I was on Cape Cod for the weekend for a cousins grad party and my aunt happens to own a seafood and ice cream place which happened to be right in front of the house I was staying in. So I did have ice cream and chicken fingers but I tried to have small portions and it coulda been more worse. They had little meatballs at the grad that were awesome and were like tomatoe sauce but sweeter kinda like barbecue and I loved them and wish I had the recipe.

The heat is definitley killing me. We dont have air conditioning in my house and it is so hot that working out is the last thing I want to do. MY friend asked my to go walking today but it was so hot I just couldnt manage it. I am trying to go to a Zumba class tomorrow night and hopefully I'll follow through on that.

Ive been watching a marathon of the show workout today which has been interesting and Im jealous of people who can afford to do something like that and I can also see myself in some of those people.

Emcmac, I tried my frist Zumba last Saturday and I really liked it a lot. I have to figure out babysitting because Saturday morning one is the only class I can go to, but I know I'm going to try again, as it really reminded me of latin dance a lot...which is awesome because I love LD! (And it's cheaper and closer than the latin dance classes I found near here)

Okay sooooooooooooo I have a question for calorie counting folks.

So my calorie allowance (according to DailyPlate) is about 1500. That's all fine and dandy. Lets say that I burn 400 cals exercising during the day......am I supposed to eat those back?? I'm new to the counting thing, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like that would sort of negate the exercising, if you know what I mean. I just want to make sure I'm getting ENOUGH cals, as that can tend to be a problem for me. Any help on that front is greatly appreciated

I realized I actually had like 700 calories because I forgot to bring almonds to put in my yorgut for my mid morning snack, so I had a piece of string cheese, a bowl of smart start cereal and skim milk, and 1 oz gin mixed with 3 oz tonic. I know bad. I'm still 100 calories under my 1400 which is an appropriate amount with me.

The apartment is starting to cool down, it didn't helped that I used the oven/toaster oven to make lunch for tomorrow. Roasted veggies (eggplant, summer squash, onions, brocolli, califlower, and sweet potatos), morrocan roasted chick peas, and then light italian dressing on the side. I'm super exicted because everything looked great.

Now I'm just relaxing, I should be cleaning my room but don't feel like it.

guys im starting to get down. ive been back 90% on track for 2 weeks now. I weighed sun and the scale said 140!!! which is fine but it means i havent seen any improvement from paying really close attention versus eating any and everything that i wanted.

how is this possible?

granted it was a scale i have never weighed on before but STILL i honestly expected to be btween 137-135 since i was weighing between 140-138 the past few months.

ugh.

so that night i had my one binge and went off plan with 3 glasses of wine, blt, fries oh and a pint of b and j. but then back on track the next day (this is day 2 back on track).

im telling myself i owe it to continue on and then weigh on june 20th at my home scale. i can make it that long and if i dont see results by then i will probably go back to just trying to be "reasonable" and not paying so much attention.

to top it all off i am excercizing more than i have been (no serious weights though so i dodn tthink my problem is too mcuh muscle gain). i walk up hill 20 mins every am then back 20 in the afternoon after class.

i guess i just need some you can do it it will be worth it vibes! i am having some major cravings today (thanks to sundays splurge).

anyways hi everyone..

arts im not sure about daily plate but fit day takes your activity level into account to give you your calorie range. so if you said you were active that would include the 400 burned.

not sure if that helps.

remember i want a g and t. jealous! haha

cookie im not calorie counting right now but when i do i aim for between 12-1600. i like to vary it. obviously 1200 per day every day would probably be not enough but i think about 1400 is just right so it averages out.

Finally the apartment is cooled down. I actually got a little chilly last night and had to put a thin blanket on. I'm off to my internship I'll check back later.

Freddy - I know what your talking about. It's hard getting back into the swing of things, I've been maintaining for awhile and now I'm trying to kick it back into weight loss. Maybe you are retaining some water because you have chngd things up. Stick with you you'll get the weight off. I was talking with some of the guys about g and t and how they tend to get me into trouble (I can have no self control when I drink them at the bar then judgement drops). So after a tough day with the apartement I made a very small one (1 oz gin and 3 oz tonic) which means only 100 calories.

Good Morning Ladies!!

well the scale finally moved down a lb this morning and i made it to 195!! it's kinda hard for me to feel 100% happy because right now i feel like i'm losing weight that i should not have ever gained. but i guess any kind of lost is always good because it could always be a gain.

right now i'm starting to get desperate in my job search and i'm starting to search outside the state of texas. i applied to atlanta public schools in atlanta, ga and got an e-mail reply that someone will be contacting me soon. i got really excited because it was actually a personal e-mail and not a automated one from when i registered to apply online with their system. i was never really orginally interested in moving out of texas but if that is the only way that i get out of east texas then i'm going to go for it.

when i first decided that i wanted to move it seemed like no one in my family wanted to hear what i was saying and it still feels that way. i just feel like right now there is nothing that i can offer this area and there is nothing this area can offer me. i feel like i'm slowly wasting away in east texas. all my friends are getting ready to get married and are having kids if they have not already, so i don't even have anyone to hangout with anymore. i watch a lot of reality tv shows and whenever i see the city i feel like that needs to be me, i deserve to be in the city, east texas is not the place for me. somehow over the past five years, from when i started watching sex and the city, the hills and saw the movie 'the devil wears prada' it's like that made me realize that even though my major in college was not fashion i can still be FABULOUS!! i would love to move to a big city anywhere and be some major fashion moguls personal assistant and work my way up from there, i know it sounds kinda minimal but i gotta start somewhere. sorry for the rant, but thanks for listening, for those that read the WHOLE thing!

ready - i know how ya feel hun...whenever that happens to me i always kinda tell myself when step off the scale that it's bound to go down sometime...i can't be passing up all those pizza slices for nothing because i could be eating them but i'm not...just give it time and like they say you'll wake up one morning and it'll be gone!

have a great day ladies!!!

Sheesh, it's only Wednesday! I'm in desperate need of a weekend already! I'm taking Friday off because it's my birthday so if I think about it...it's like today is Thursday and tomorrow is Friday. I can deal with that.

Oh, I miss my bed so much right now. Haha.

Happy Wednesday everyone! So far so good. A bowl of oatmeal, 2 pieces of toast and a banana, oh, and one diet dr. pepper. Today is going to be a good day! I can feel it.

Bellyup--I'm ready for the weekend too. I'm tired.

Jana--good luck with trying to find your place in this world. It's hard sometimes figuring it out, but once you are there, it's worth it all.

Remember--Thanks for the welcome back!

I'm going shopping for healthy food today! I have got to be good...low calories, tasty...i can do it!!

So basically i'm looking at the 1300 calorie range. I know i have been eating well above that. Its hard for me, but i must must must be good!! That means no more mindless snacking which is where i get into trouble. A few almond M&Ms a few goldfish (which ends up being at least a serving instead of the 10 i wanted)...i have also had a binge mindset for the last 2 days and so at least i'm feeling i broke that today. So onward and upward. I want these last 2 lbs gone so i can move on down. I've been stalled for a while but at least maintaining, not gaining. I also need to work on drinking a lot more water. I drink a lot, but could stand to drink more. My life is just extra chaotic and stressful these days. I need to ease up!

So aiming to eat 3 meals a day (or 5 small depending) on the schedule...and then counting calories. That's the plan.

jana, what kind of job are you looking for, and where in east TX are you?? I'm in DFW right now. Are you a teacher??

Well I calmed down since my trainer kinda made me feel like crap.

I actually ended up eating less than my daily calories which brought me to 1,400 instead of 1,700 but I actually felt fine and woke up this morning feeling a lot less bloated so I am toying with the idea of lower my calories. However, that means I could have to be extra careful about the foods that go in my mouth but I think I am up for the challenge.

The boy and I paid bills last night and came up with next months budget. We keep all out receipts and figures out we were spending close to 250 dollars on starbucks a month! We are gonna do once a week now which will save money and calories!

I have also realized by using dailyplate I probably eat too much bread so another goal of mine is to add more veggies and fruit and eat more lean mean.

Does anyone have any breakfast ideas for nice quick yummy breakfast? I love kashi products and eat both the waffles and cereal but I am kinda get tired of it. Any suggestions?

ready I totally know what you mean. I am on day 4 of getting back on track after allowing myself to get off my plan. I think it is ok to have one meal off a week, though.

arts I asked Remember the same question the other day because I just started using thedailyplate. I don't eat my calories burned. However, if days I do work out and I have an unplanned drink or snack I don't freak out. But for me I do add the workout to the end of my day to see my net calories for fun. (I don't think these things are too good at guessing calories burned) Like yesterday, my net calories was 845 after my workout.

I hope that helps.
