AUGUST???? who let it be August already?

What happened to summer? I put on my bathing suit once, mowed the grass a lot, and worn sleeveless tops, but otherwise the summer has disappeared on me!

How did July go? I'm basically right where I started- which at maintenance isn't really a bad thing. I've kept up my eating and fitness routines without a blip through working full-time and training part time (pats self on back).

Strawberries are my summer downfall- OK, that's how I've noticed summer

Have a good one,
Mel

I went into Hobby Lobby this week and they had Christmas decorations up on sale.

In July.

Needless to say time is going by very fast. I'm looking forward to fall, cooler weather for one!

Rest day for me today, had cardio planned but last night felt tired and burnt out a little so decided to have a day of rest. Going out to eat dinner tonight for a friend's birthday so will be checking out the menu online if it's available.

Happy hump day people!

Band workout was ok last night, feeling like I did a little something at least today. I've been feeling like I really have to force myslef to do much of anything these days.

I hear ya on summer flying by. Ah well, got another good few weeks, must make the best of them. I haven't even been camping yet.

Baseball game tonight at Miller Park. I will abstain from beer if it kills me.

Talking Wednesday

Vacation was great, really humid, but hey on the beach or in the boat, I could cope. DD is doing great in the sailboat, she really made progress at the summer camp sailing lessons.

Only gained two pounds, so I am glad to say I am still below, though barely, 200. Plants are still alive at the office, overall a great trip.

Got back into the workout routine right away, including yoga, I was encouraged by my Yoga Journal article about practices at home. I do have a bit of a sunburn on my tummy so I am working around that, the deadlifts this morning were painful because of that, new bathing suit and all, just have to pay better attention to the lotion application. The UBWO was pretty good, I used the ball this morning but do want to try the step on an incline to mix it up.

LYNNE - How is the yoga DVD working for you?

RABBIT - Camping in Germany? how was it? Usually when we go camping, I can keep the food under control, though no CC or Yogurt. This fall I am going to start making my own yogurt again. I am planning to really stay on track this year, we go camping the last week of August and I need to stay away from the ice cream.

PAT - I just got my exercise ball, at Target, love it too, so maybe you are the last person without one. so is everything in your kitchen in its proper place??

I got home to a voice mail for a birthday party for an old ex - turns 50 today actually but the party is on Saturday. DH is such a great guy to be going, we were all in HS together, but I think that secretly DH likes to brag, he was so quiet in HS. Anyway, may switch Saturday to be my Free Day, though given the way the wife cooks, I may not have too.

MEL - LOVE strawberries, in fact love berries - I am working on portion control.

I need to find something to add to my lunch and get some lettuce for the dinner table, it is too hot for the next few weeks to grow our own, but I plan to reseed for September, one year I had fresh lettuce in November.

Morning. It's still cool here (55) but not raining. I picked a lot of my tall flowers since, you know, delphiniums are not supposed to be horizontal.

Liza - the service tech is coming for the stove on Monday. Burners work fine, but the oven won't light (I had to argue with the call center gal who didn't get the concept that if the burners work, the gas is definitely on!) Last night was the test run for the dishwasher. DH apparently didn't have the "water in" hose tight enough as we had some leaking. He's sure that's the cause and will fix it today. After the thing had run forever, I read the manual and learned that the first time you use it does two extra rinse cycles - yikes. Seemed like it ran all night.

Mel - staying the same is good thing. I love berries too. We froze a lot of our strawberries, and now the raspberries are ready to start picking. It's a lot easier to pick raspberries though - no crawling around on the ground.

We've decided on an end of summer camping trip. We'll leave Fri before Labor Day, and I have the rest of that week off. We're going to Skagway and Haines, AK which are the northernmost road-accessible towns in SE Alaska. You do have to drive through part of the Yukon Territory of Canada to get there though, and take a ferry between the two towns to make a loop back to the road home. We figure 6-7 days on the road, with a stop at a hot springs and one night in a B&B (real bed, shower!) Should be fun. Now I just need a housesitter. It's too long to leave the cat with just someone coming by to feed her.

Food is going well. Had one bad meal on Friday, but I just climbed back on the wagon and kept going. Lost 3# last week, and hopefully a couple this week. I've never lost quickly - slow and hopefully steady is my motto.

Hi everyone,

I am feeling really good today. Had a great upperbody workout today and LBWO yesterday. I have decided to do a little less running during the week so I still have energy to build a little muscle. So far so good.

BTW I hit my goal. Cool huh? And I am still loosing which I think is good since I still have the 10 or so lbs of extra fat hanging around.

OK creepy my computer is talking to me. Its a 3fc ad. Oh well, kind of scared me a bit.

So anyhow I am kind of going 5lbs at a time. I am in no rush really. I would rather build muscle than loose fat at this point but if I can do both then this will be good.

I am excited to try the one legged deadlifts.

Hickerchick!!!
Maybe it's time to switch the goal? Your weight looks really reasonable for your height unless you have sparrow bone structure.... Building more muscle and maintaining your weight (yes, it's possible) will drop your body fat level and make you a lot smaller at the same weight.

Pat- Your trips always leave me jealous! I'd come house sit if I had air miles!

The commute to your job would be a little much, Mel.

Great job on hitting your goal, hiker!

Oh, and I have great new SHORTER haircut! Yay. I get so tired of my thin, limp, fine hair. Short with lots of layers makes it look like I have some hair anyway! Still gray though.....

I'm new to weightlifting so I'm hopping on this train, hoping to pick up some useful tidbits along the way.

I've just started this past weekend with weights, 3 days per week, light and easy total body until I get my wits about me. I do treadmill 4-6 days per week, alternating distance/speed days with steady pace/tough incline days. Then there's the miscellaneous stuff that gets thrown in willy-nilly for variety when I'm being a whiner, like videos, hula hoop, jump rope, etc.

Anyway, I love weights so far (except lunges!) and hope to find some long-lost muscles with you guys.

Hi LWL,

AUGUST ??? I cannot believe that time goes soooo quickly!!

Pat, Hiker - bravo for the great losses!!!

Pat - on loosing slowly..I could use a slow use, it's much much better than this weight creep up up up. I still have to loose the extra 5 pounds from the past month. Got a picture of the new haircut ??

Reporting on that: no excercise yesterday, but planning to do continue the shed painting today. And I'm very slowly getting into the 6 eats a day routine. Since I was in a gemstone area in my camping trip, I took 3 large and 3 small gemstone pebbles, and i switch them from one bowl to another to keep track of what i have eaten. Sofar today, I got in 1 big stone for breakfast. crude, but it keeps me from conveniently "forgetting" snacks. Next target is portion control.

Have a great day all,
Rabbit

Morning all

Hickerchick!

Nothing much to report today other than I went out for dinner last night for a friend's birthday and let's just say food porn was involved and leave it at that .

Sugar Cube - I've not done the yoga dvd yet this week, planning on another session with it this Sunday so will let you know how I do.

OH2007 - Welcome! You'll grow to like lunges once you see what they do for your butt!!

Busy day today, month end, yuck, bleargh.

Just for fun today, I played the Gilead workout, that was good for the LBWO, the lunges of all sorts were a good way to get into the routine. I still have trouble with the cardio kickboxing, just lacking the coordination but have noticed a huge improvement in that I can get through more of the routine. I plan to do some more stretching and leg work tonight after work. I think I would like to get into more of a routine of doing something in the evening, moving and not just vegging in front of the TV.

Great food day yesterday, the best part is that I never felt hungry nor did I feel stuffed. Nice to be pretty balanced like that. It is all based on planning for me and sticking to it. For lunch today, I am going to the jazz concert but taking my lunch, the noon time series is a nice way to get out of the office. Salad and grilled chicken for lunch with a kiwi for afters, I haven't been finding the organic kiwis which are supposed to be much more nutritious but I am doing what I can with what I got. Just making better choices.

Got an email this morning from the guest of honor at Saturday's BDay party, he just got a diagnosis of lung cancer, no one knows if this has crossed the party invitations or not. Saturday could be very odd.

PAT - 3 #s gone and new appliances - how fun, of course, more fun when all the burners are firing of course. Your camping trip sounds great, I guess the up side of having a dog is that the dog goes camping with us, it does cut down on where we can stay though. Some places actually restrict kids more often than the pets.

HIKER - You must be doing something right, being at goal is great. The important thing is to keep on trying a new routine to find what works well for you.

DIANE - Welcome, no one like lunges.

RABBIT - like your gemstone idea, hey, it works then it works.

Off to get some a little info before I actually start on the office work, I mean where does the time go?
