I could not find AES at the stores today and I truly hate, hate, hate to shop. So, Amazon carried AES - one sale now for $39 for 24 servings - $1.65 each as compared... I also get free shipping so it's very worth it! Thanks for all the Alt product tips!
For those of you that are using other products but started with IP, what did you tell your coaches and such why you weren't purchasing their (IP) product ? I am considering trying some bars from Lindora instead of IP bars but when I record bars in my journal and they know I didn't purchase bars. I just want some opinions. After all I am paying for it , they are not.
Has anyone had any luck with the Syntrax Nectar products?
On the strength of a warm recommendation a couple of weeks ago I ordered some as a back up for when my I P packets don't get here on time. AES etc not available here. And besides, who can resist something called Twisted Cherry.
It has aspertane, also 1oo calories / ounce; 23 grams of protein, low sodium, and some potassium. It tastes quite good although it doesn't dissolve as readily as I P. Cheaper, of course. And it got here from the mainland, Boise, Idaho, faster than the fedex from Maui to Oahu, to the Big Island. Could have been a fluke.
Thanks for the feedback OnTarget & Linden - I've been eyeing them for a while.. I might have to go for it. I like the 0 carbs aspect and I think the ones I looked at online were sweetened with sucralose.
Hey all - lots of great ideas on substitues for shakes, bars, etc, but has anyone found a good substitute for the IP puffs or crisps? I've seen Lindora has some soy puffs but are they good? Or any other great products you've found?
IP would add at least a $300 expense to my budget, which is not manageable - particularly since I don't really have to pay for any of what I eat at home now (I know I'm spoiled, and I am grateful). I am finding good prices on food that is fairly identical to the nutritional makeup of IP foods at Nutmeg State Nutrition and diet direct, but I don't know the vitamin, calcium, magnesium and potassium requirements as contained in multi-vita, cal-mag, and potassium-calcium. My research indicates that I can pretty well match these as well. The help I have found through this forum has been incredible. Thank you.
I didn't see the strawberry flavor. When I do, I will try it. I really don't like the vanilla either. I have added cinnamon to it and it helped some.
Have a great week,
Tina Lou

I have used soy crisp. They come in several flavors and help satisfy that crunch need. I got them at Publix (Georgia) in the natural food section. I can only get them when I am in a larger city they arent in my local area
Also, got some of the Nectar protein mix. It is pretty good....lots of flavors and no carbs or fat, just protein.
What brand of bars do most people buy as a substitute? I have looked at Met-Rx Protein Plus bars. Just wondering...
I can't help you, since I don't buy bars, but I hate to see your question go unanswered. The truth may very well be that most people don't buy bars because they detract from weight lose. BUT, you can search the threads for "bars" and I think you'll probably get a good representation of what people are buying.
About Med-Ex? The one bar I could find full nutritional information about had, are you ready for this, 45 grams of carbohydrates. http://www.shopmetrx.com/detail/MRX+18142 YIKES!
