Faye, what a great way to get it all out once and for all and not have to deal with the still-living people's hurt feelings, etc. I might have said this before, but Dr. Phil's book has some great help even if you don't do his food plan. He really makes you sit back and take a look at what is causing you to overeat and how to remedy it. You might be able to get it at the library and I think it is out in paper now as well. Having already lost so much weight, you certainly know how to do it, but resolving the other issues will mean you will keep it off.

I'm thinking I need to buy a lottery ticked - $16 million and I might be able to retire before I die.

Hello All!
Just stopped in for a sec.....dirty house awaiteth.......but had to tell you what happened at work today. A lady I work with was telling me about her DH ....he never exercised, smoked like a chimney, ate all the wrong things, and had a heart attack last fall (he's ok now). It really shook her up, as they are only in their mid-40's....then she turned to me and said, with tears in her eyes, "I really wish you would take better care of yourself'" A simple statement, but her sincerity rattled me right down to my toes. I don't think we realize how we impact other peoples' lives. It has given me a new boost.....not only knowing how much people care, but also that I don't want to put anyone thru the worry and stress that she has gone thru.

Have a wonderful evening, ladies

Unhappy

Hi, ladies...where are you hiding? Have all the plans to lose weight flown out the window with the advent of summer? Have you all reached your goal? I need to know you are still around or find another group.

Susan: Here I am! I know it seems like this once busy group is pooping out doesn't it? Maybe it is just summer has made everyone busier. I know I am trying to get a lot done in the house and then running my own thread takes a lot of time too.

I am really really struggling you guys. I was talking to dh last night and I seem to really be hungry a lot and I am consuming the correct calories, I am getting in water and exercise everyday. I am wondering if it is hormonal because it seems really really out of whack. I have gained weight, about 15 lbs and it is kind of depressing to be struggling like this though I really try and keep a good attitude about it and I am committed NOT to go back to where I was. I guess I will just have to fool with things and see if I can get a handle on what is going on.

I guess we are going to take a trip to Indiana for July 4th weekend. I would like to be somewhere I can see fireworks and not have to deal with huge crowds like they are here. DH gets Monday as a paid holiday and is just going to take another day and a half off. Wish I could see the Cubs play but their games are completely sold out for the whole year!

Hope all is going well with everyone and don't worry about me. I will figure this thing out!

Hey There! I'm here too. I've been reading, but not much time or news to post.
I did finally do a weigh/measure at Curves the other day. They showed a 7 inch loss and 7 pounds. I weighed in 8.5 less the week before....before Mother's Day. But, I'm confindent I will get it back down....and down, down, down!
Things are still nuts here. Sports mania for the boys among other activities. I'd pull my hair out, except I pay too much to have it colored.
And, I'm not sure if everyone was here when I first talked about my Dad. He has lung cancer. Things aren't going very good and that's really zapped me. On top of that, DH has been back/forth to the doc. Finally went to a specialist. Could have a clogged artery, or lupus, or raynauds disease. We will find out more next week when they are done running tests on the gallon of blood they drained out of him.

Faye, I hope you can find your groove. Getting back in the pool should help.

Well, I have to get to work. Gotta feed the masses. Today they are having fried cheese sticks with marinara. Give me Strength!

Wink

Faye, some suggestions that may (or may not) help with the hunger. This is what I've found with the help of my Dietician.

Spread your food out in 3 meals and 2 or 3 snacks each day. This keeps you blood sugar levels more even. Don't eat lightly during the day in order to snack in the evening because that can actually make you overeat at night. Add more protein and be sure to have a little protein or fat with every meal or snack. This can be as simple as having a cube of cheese with fruit for a snack or an apple and 4 walnut halves. It doesn't have to be much but it satisfies longer. Artificial sweeteners can also actually make you hungry. I try to only use Splenda (made from sugar) now. Having lost 200 pounds, I've been where you are and know how scary it can actually be to gain a few pounds - you think it'll all come back. If you haven't had your thyroid checked recently, you might want to get that done. I know you plan your meals very carefully. If you insurance covers it, you might want to consult a nutritionist and have her help you tweek things. She'll know how to get the foods in you like and still let you lose at a steady pace.

My problem is still exercise. I started walking again and my hip went beserk so I'm back doing my chair aerobics tape for awhile again. It seems about once every six to eight weeks I just get fed up with the whole thing of watching what I eat and spend a week eating everything in sight and then have to repent and cut back.

Well, I guessed I freaked out for nothing. I weighed myself today and am down 5 lbs for the week. I was probably retaining water.

Susan: Thanks for the ideas. I do eat 3 meals and at least 2 snacks. I have one between breakfast and lunch and one before dinner. I don't eat after dinner because I know I will go way overboard. I have been traveling a lot and you know you don't eat well when away from home and that is probably part of the problem too. Good luck with exercise. (as for cheese, I like the little things of string cheese which are lower in fat)

Tig: Our prayers are with your family and hope your dad can be released from his pain. I AM VERY anxious to get back to water aerobics. I get a really good all over workout and I love it.

Well, I need to get some exercise in even though I painted walls for an hour today with a roller so my body got a pretty good workout from it!

Hi All!
Great to have the weekend here, isn't it! I have a baby shower to go to tomorrow....the first in a few years......will be kinda nice to get out and do a 'girl thing' for a change.

Faye.....congrats for getting back on track. You are one determined lady, and I really admire you

Tig....you really have your hands full with your Dad and DH.....prayers go out to your and your family.

Quilter.....read with interest your tips on eating. Eating lightly during the day may cause you to overeat at night? That's me, all right! One of my greatest battles is the snackies that hit around 8pm.............now I will have a little more at lunch.....or a midafternoon snack.

Have had a good week, despite the aforemention snackie problem.....been exercising more.....gardening and pulling weeds...and lost 2 pounds! I had set a goal to lose 10 lbs by vacation (June 21)...got 5 weeks to go and I just may make it!

Have a great weekend ladies!

Hello group. Well, we have been remiss and it hasn't been much of a group lately has it?

I finished all the painting and wallpapering in the dining room and it looks gorgeous. I am going to steamclean the carpets today and put everything back then take some pictures of it. It turned out even better than I hoped it would.

I feel so much better since I seem to be losing weight again. I think I am having a time of it hormonally and it is causing all the other junk. Today is weigh in so I will let you know what my weeks total is.

Hope you all are doing well and enjoying the end of spring. We are in the upper 80's all week so it is going to be a hot one here.

I still get WW magazine and there is an interesting article in there on eating to be full. Shows meals that have the same number of points and one is a whole lot more food than the other. All points (calories) are not created equal. I like lots of food. Picture Perfect Weightloss is another good one to look through if you want to get a lot of food for few calories.

We in the 80's as well - went from cool to hot...and already needing rain.

Went out for a walk and almost melted it is so hot and humid out. I am NOT going to complain because the hotter the warmer the pool will get when it is open.

I finished everything and the room looks beautiful. It is the prettiest one we have done yet. I am enclosing a couple pics.

I weighed in and lost 9 lbs total since last Monday so I am sure I was retaining water big time. I also feel so much more in control of hunger and whatever. It is totally weird to be ravenous one day and on program with no problem the next!

Hello all!

Whew.....sure am glad this day is over! I had an incredibly busy weekend.....baby shower, grocery shopping, picked up plants at the nursery (which the 3 grandkids helped me plant on Sunday.....my, but we did have fun!) and kids came for dinner on Sunday........in addition to the laundry, housecleaning and other chores that I seem to always leave to the weekend! It was probably more activity than I have had in months.....probably good for me, but it did leave me tuckered (all the more reason to lose weight......I just don't have the energy level that I used to).

Faye.....the dining room looks great! You sure are getting a lot of remodeling done....you aren't planning to move, are you?

Speaking of moving.....anyone hear from Dyan? She should be up to her forward flange in packing boxes about now!

Quilter.....thanks for all the tips on eating. I like to think I am pretty up on all the food pyramids and nutrition stuff.....but sometimes a practical hint from someone who has been there is a lot of help.

Well....gotta go......have got to get a little low impact aerobics in!

MRS: Heaven's NO! Don't laugh, but we bought this condo 2 1/2 years ago and it is our first home. With dh being in the military it seemed stupid to buy a house and then struggle to sell it every three years so we always rented. When he got out, his income didn't improve and we just couldn't swing it until we moved here. The fact is, the condo had been empty and used for storage like a warehouse for 2 years so it was in pretty poor shape and we got a good price for it so we are just having a good time doing it figuring it will probably be the only home we ever own so we should make it as nice as possible.

Hope all you absentees are ok!

Faye, I love what you've done with your dining room. It looks so bright and cheery. Glad to hear the scale has decided to cooperate. I knew you had this weight loss thing down.

Finally cooled off to the 70's so it's very pleasant today.
