Is it Friday yet? 7 more days of school. I feel like the little engine. I think I can, I think I can....
Oldest son's track is over Thursday. Youngest son made All Stars for soccer so that season gets to drag on and overlap with his baseball even longer. Tomorrow is DH appointment with the specialist. Hopefully they've figured out what is wrong with him and we can deal with it.
As for me, I've been sticking to Curves, but eating has gotten a bit out of control the last week. I'm gonna blame being overly busy and stress.

Faye, your room looks great. Wish we could finish a project at my house. We like to drag it out and make it really painful.

Quilter & MsRD, Howdy Chickies!

Jello, wondering how the new job is going?

Cafe, Semo, Dyan, Huntress, DNW, Tiffany....and the list goes on. Come back girls! We miss you!

Hey ladies! I am wasting time waiting for my tub to "cook" with cleaning stuff in it so I can clean house today. It is hot and humid here and I have yet to get outside so I am vacillating between getting on exercise clothes and getting outside and starting to clean house. I get exercise just lugging my big ole vacuum up and down the stairs along with laundry, trash etc. I should have buns of steel instead of buns of blubber, but oh well, those years have past never to return!

Susan: Weird, but since my complaining about gaining the weight, I have taken off a total of 12 lbs as of this morning. I don't see how the poor women who have to take meds like insulin, steroids etc don't just give it up. I know I got discouraged for the first time last week and a half when this all occurred because I felt like I couldn't control it and you know how up I am by all of this most of the time. Even when I am not doing well, I take it with a grain of salt and know I can improve, but this seemed so out of my control. One thing I do consistently to make sure I do not slide backwards is exercise. I know I can keep control of things as long as I make that part of my day everyday or at least during the week. That doesn't count all the stuff I do. I have guilt feelings about sitting down so I am up and doing something most of the time.

I don't know where all you ladies have taken off to, but sure hope you come back. The 3-4 of us still posting are going to get bored telling each other the same stories over and over.

Have a great day ladies, I am off to Comet/Tilex world!

Anybody there? Faye - I congratulate you and do the hap[y dance - 12 pounds is great. I know you can do this. We all get discouraged when the darn scale doesn't cooperate with out efforts. It's been so warm here we are opening the pool in our development Saturday - 2 weeks early but the water is already warm. I'm going to see if swimming or water aerobics agrees with the old hip.

WOOHOO! I AM ON VACATION!

Well.....ok.....so it is only two days off BUT, I am not at work! I am hoping a couple mental health days are all I need to get my perspective back again.
And, while I am on the subject, how come vacation days go faster than regular at-work days? Does someone fast-forward the clock when I'm not looking?.....no fair!

Not going away for this vacation.....staying home and getting some stuff done. I have a list that would keep 3 people busy for a month ....everything from getting a new drivers license (do they really expect me to tell the truth about my weight?) to getting the gardens in shape (it would help if it would quit raining......or maybe I should just plant lilypads?) to a major house-cleaning sprint (at least, I should vacuum up the 10,000 dead ladybugs that moved in over the winter). With any luck, I won't have TIME to eat.......

Faye......great news on getting the scales working again! Perserverance always wins out

Tig.....school is almost out HOORAY......hmmm, are you sure this is what you want?

Susan....Swimming is great exericse! Or just treading water, for that matter. Guess my goal is to look presentable enough in a swimsuit to go to the local pool......my last suit was orange and I bore a striking resemblance to the Great Pumpkin
Well.....back to the rest and relaxation.......

I am beginning to feel like I live in a ghost town and no one told me they all left!!! Where is everybody anymore?

Susan: Water aerobics is THE BEST! I am so ready for the pool. I can do an hour in the pool and the time just seems to fly by and I think because you are in the water, you aren't all sweaty and miserable, but come back in tired and relaxed, at least I do.

Mrs: Honey, I NEVER EVER worry about me and being in a suit. People can stare, whisper, whatever they want, because I don't care. If I want to swim, I am going to swim. My suit this year is bright orange, red and black tropical and I love it (for one thing it is a size smaller than last year!) I got the kind that fastens over the back so the straps are not falling off all the time sort of like the olympic swimmers wear. Walmart, less than $30!

We are working around the deck today putting out the marble chips so I will be sweating off the weight. It is supposed to be in low 90's today!

Have a great weeked everybody!

Hi! Saturday. Time to Breath....maybe. DH at work and oldest son is golfing. Youngest is suppose to be cleaning his bedroom before his friend arrives to spend the night. Like we don't have enough to do during the week, I let them make plans on the weekend. *doh* We might take the crew to see Shrek 2 this evening and then out to supper at Hacienda. *danger*

All this talk about pools really make me want to take a swim!
Even though I've been stress eating, the scale still went down a pound! Gotta give credit to Curves!
I absoultely HATE wearing a bathingsuit in public. I usually try to find ones with a skirt to help hide my cottagecheese. bla.
Gotta get busy, the house is a MESS!
*hugs*

Tig: I don't care a fig for Hacienda's food, but I absolutely LOVE their salsa/ chip dip whatever you want to call it. I always buy containers and take it home when I am up there. I tried to get them to give me the recipe, explaining that I used to live there but lived here now, but of course they wouldn't. The dopey owner said, "You can come and enjoy it while you are up here catching a Notre Dame game." I sent him an e-mail back, "Are you kidding? My husband despises Notre Dame. No thanks, we will just go without." Hope you had fun. Which one did you go to, the mall, or the one in Mishawaka? I am sure I told you, but my son is the showroom manager for Wholesale Spa Network there on Grape road next to Outback and my new dil, Alicia is a pharmacist for Meijers (she is a floater) so if you are ever in one of those places and you see either of them, tell them their mom said HI! Actually, we are coming up your way for the weekend of the 4th and I can't wait. We are going to Das Essenhaus on Saturday night and to see the Silver Hawks on Sunday night (just so I have some place to see fireworks. They always put on a great fireworks show after the game)

Everyone have a great weekend!

Hello, ladies, another hot week on tap here. Had horrific tunder and lightening storms Saturday and Sunday. One of our darn skylights leaked and we can't figure out which one - three are in a row close together. I guess the guy we called to fix it will figure it out. It is not pleasant to get up for breakfast and find the tablecloth and everything on the table soaking wet.

Faye, our pool opens Saturday and I'll be there as many nights as I can make it. We have adults only from 7-8 PM and there are not too many who use it regularly. Maybe I can find a buddy there to exercise with me.

Spent yesterday going through stuff in my sewing room - and finding fabric I didn't even remember having and 4 pair of drapes that we had never hung and I don't even remember getting. (They went up last night.) Just goes to show there is too much disposable income for some stuff.

I'm so looking forward to a 3-day weekend. Don't have any big plans, but something will turn up.

Susan: They usually send out a flyer to announce the pool is opening and haven't yet so I am wondering when they are going to get it open. I sure am anxious to get out and swim each day.

My sister's sil had bypass surgery a year ago and has been sick including mental illness since then. She formed lesions on her brain which caused the mental illness and she is now in the hospital trying to build up her strength for an operation. Seems there is a hole in the tube running from her stomach to where they attached the intestine and it has been dumping digested food and bile into her blood stream this whole time. She also has a huge mass on her intestine they think is filled with infectious bile from the problem. I know people are desperate, but I still think this surgery is way too risky. My sister was telling me today she has a friend who had it done and her mother and she was successful and her mom died. Since you still MUST learn to control how you eat and how you look at food, I think the old fashioned methods are still the best. Maybe not the fastest, but surely safer. I saw an article in last week's People I think it was where people had the operation and are not fat again. Like I told my sister, it is not an operation like a vasectomy that can be reversed if things go wrong.

Well, I guess I should find something to do.

Howdy!
Faye, I know where that Spa place is...never been there though.
Hacienda Salsa and Chips, love them! Ate too many of them I'm sure. Also had too much to drink and have felt terrible for two days.

I want a pool! I don't think I'll be swimming in our pond this year. The men creatures have added fish and turtles. But I guess ya never now, heat can do strange things to ones judgement.

This is the last week of school. I should be around more often when it's finished.

Dear Ladies:

I'm still alive and doing much better...went through the widow's blahs for most of the winter and Spring but things are turning around now and I have many more good days than bad. In other words life goes on and so do I. I have given up on the nursing thing since my back was also acting up this winter. I have investigated a Master's program in Psychology, which I can attend part-time and just about the time I am ready for retirement from the corporate world I believe I will be able to hang out a shingle and can get licensed to be a certifed therapist. I am figuring on part-time 2-3 days a week should do me fine in my old age. Also found out that my job will likely pay for my Masters with any luck...things are looking up and I think Bob is watching out for me...

You all sound like you've been busy too. I am back at OA and also started with a personal trainer this past week...a gift to myself for the summer. I also am journaling my food again and I have managed to break 250 finally.

Much love and an overdue
Carol

Oh, my gosh, it's so good to hear from you DNW. I think of you often and wonder how you are doing. Congratulations on breaking the 250 barrier. Sounds like you have a plan for your life and that is good too. I'm sure Bob is looking out for you.

Faye, I was listening to Dr. Dean Adell over the weekend and he has some interesting facts about bypass surgery. There has been a huge study done and it only adds a little over 5 years to your life expectancy if you have the surgery and then maintain a lower weight...not worth the complications that can happen. I have a friend who had it done, lost over 200 pounds and has gained it all back and then some. Still no cureall for obesity...darn!

We've had thunderstorms every night this week and last weekend and it's supposed to keep up all through early next week. Once the storm passes, it gets hotter than blazes. Set a record yesterday and we are averaging 15 degrees above normal so I'm afraid July and August will be unbearable if it keeps up.

Have one of my quilting bees tonight so I'm going to try one of the new Salads at Burger King (50% off coupon).

Hello All!

DNW - great to hear from you again.....and good news breaking 250! It sounds like you have a great plan for the future. You go girl!

Quilter. - We have been having severe thunderstorms here too. All the rivers have flooded (they are supposed to crest tonite), dams are full open, and they are predicting more rain over the weekend. We have a creek on our property, which has flooded into the backyard.....great blue herons wade thru the yard now, catching small fish and frogs. Just another adventure.....

Faye - hope your SIL is getting stronger and ready for a healthy future. There just is no quick fix to losing weight......we just have to keep slogging along....less food....more exercise......we will succeed!

Quilter - have you tried the new salads at Arby's? They have a "Marthas Vineyard Salad" that is awesome......salad greens with apples and dried cherries.....really really good

I brought home a stack of stuff from work ....to be done before morning......can't figure out if there aren't enuf hours in the day or if I am just moving slower in my old age?
Later!

Just wanted to let you know what is happening. I slipped and fell in a restaurant tues evening and was in the hospital until Thur night. I have a personal injury attorney so can't talk much about it, but wanted you to know why I haven't been posting.

I am able to use both hands a little more, but one arm is injured and the other one the emt put my line in wrong and all my meds flooded under the skin instead of through the vein so it has been really swollen and bruised and very very sore so it also has been hard to use and still is. I go to my reg dr on Tues and then on to the others.

I am depressed because I can't exercise, fix proper meals and such and am determined not to gain weight back but it is pretty difficult. I hope to convince the dr to let me get in the pool with Jack's help.

take care and I will check in as I can

Faye

Hello All!

Faye...... so sorry to hear of your accident! It is always so frustrating to be physically limited...but don't let it get you down! A few days of R&R and you should be back on the treadmill!

We had the kidlets and subkidlets down for a picnic today.....grilled burgers and hot dogs, with potato salad and calico beans and fresh carrot sticks, celery sticks, and sliced cukes. Chocolate cake for dessert .....and yes, I did indulge, and, thankfully, it is all gone so it will not awaken me in the middle of the night.....:lol

We put the veggie garden in yesterday.....tomatoes, cukes, acorn squash, zucchini, cabbage, watermelon, onions, cantaloupe, green beans, sweet corn and pumpkins. DH also bought some raspberry plants and about 4 dozen strawberry plants; so that pretty well filled up the garden spot. Needless to say, I am pretty seized up...but quite satisfied with the work we accomplished yesterday.

I will probably work in the flowerbeds tomorrow.....a lot of weed-pulling to be done. There is always stuff to transplant and we need some annuals to fill in the empty spaces. Better take my vitamins now!
