Default 300+ Just DO IT in January Exercise Thread

WELCOME!!!

to the January exercise thread! We're making exercise a habit, giving ourselves some accountability, and getting healthier in the process!

In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves (I personally will not exercise much without a goal). If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month!

In 2010 the 300+ club broke our 2009 record and exercised for over 250,000 minutes. I don't know if we'll break that record, but I do know exercise is a great way to keep on plan.

We invite you to join us!

To keep track, just add your minutes to the existing group’s minutes. If you’re new, look at what other people are doing – it’s pretty easy to figure out! To help everyone keep things straight, please note the OLD minutes and the number of NEW minutes you are adding, such as
Group total ~ 500 + 50 = 550 minutes.

My goal this month is 1200 minutes again. I have to try to lose what I gained in 2010 and this is a great way to do it.

Things are often quiet in the winter, but who's going to join me??

I would be happy to join you! i am with you on I am not going to exercise if I am not being held accountable. So with that in mind I am also going to exercise 1200 minutes this month. I will update my total as soon as I have done my exercise for the day. WOOHOOO!!!!

I just did the first exercise on the EA Sports Active for the Wii. I signed up for the 30 day challenge on there. It was pretty intense for me. A lot of squating and running. But I made it all the way through! YAY!!!!

18/1200 So far.

Group total ~ 0 + 18 = 18 (I hope I did this right...)

Im setting my goal at 1000 min for jan. If I dont post my minutes come to the threads and find me and please give me a kick in the rear. I know I cant lose weight without exercise!!

I'm going to start out pretty simple for this month so that I can get back in the swing of things. My monthly goal for minutes is going to be 930, which is just 30 minutes a day (even though today's already the 2nd).

No goal for me this month, as I want to gauge just how much I'm doing and set a goal from there. I've been logging my minutes, but not keeping track of by the month...just went by the year last year. So I'll just log this month, and set my goal next month.

Saturday's Exercise (Took an easy day, I was SORE!)
-20 mins Weight Training (upper body)
-15 mins Yoga
-15 mins Stair Stepper

GROUP TOTAL: 18 + 50 = 68 minutes.

Still super sore. Especially my biceps and my thighs. Took it a bit easier today again.

Today's Exercise:
-15 min. Yoga
-20 min. Weight Training (Lower Body)
-15 min. Wii EA Sports Active (Upper Body)
-30 min. Stair Stepper

Group Total: 68 + 80 = 148 mins.

Personal Total: 50 + 80 = 130 mins.

Okay ladies so I am hella sore today and was going to put off exercising. But then I told my self "oh no you get up off that couch and do it. It will help you feel better." So I did my day two on EA Sports Active and low and behold I feel not as sore now!!! My one question is I am STARVING today! Is this a side effect of me working out yesterday??? I can tell you I ate more than I should have today If this is an issue anyone else has please let me know any hints on dealing with it. Thanks!!!

Hi Everyone. Hope you all had a good new year. I am committed to walking/bike/elliptical/whatever one hour a day, plus lifting at least 3 times a week.... so my goal is 2500 minutes. lol... wish me luck.

Jan. 1 - 60 minutes walking, 7 minutes bike, 5 minutes elliptical, 45 minutes lifting (I also snow shoveled 2 hours, can somebody let me know if that counts?)

Jan. 2 - 60 minutes walking

Group Total: 173 + 177 =350
Personal Total: 177

I commit to 30 minutes cardio six days a week and 15 minutes weights 3 days a week. Mondays are just too hectic schedule wise to get to the gym, so that is my day off. We have been having a lot of smoke in the Orlando area from a fire on the coast to do much outside.

I did 60 minutes yesterday. Boy was I feeling the ab machine.

Group Total: 350 + 60 = 410
Personal Total: 60
Personal Goal: 1200

my goal is 3000 minutes for the month. i know that sounds like a lot, but i skate 6 hours a week, so ive broken it out to 2000 mins skating and 1000 mins doing other stuff.

so far ive got 60 mins skating in

410+60=470
