300+ "Always Movin' Never Foolin'" April Exercise Thread
to the April exercise thread! We're making exercise a habit, giving ourselves some accountability, and getting healthier in the process!
In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves (I personally will not exercise much without a goal). If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month!
In 2007 the 300+ club exercised 205,352 minutes. Let’s break that record!
To keep track, just add your minutes to the existing group’s minutes. If you’re new, look at what other people are doing – it’s pretty easy to figure out! To help everyone keep things straight, please note the OLD minutes and the number of NEW minutes you are adding, such as
Group total ~ 500 + 50 = 550 minutes
We've made a great start and I'd love to see us hit 20K minutes for April!!! What do you say chicks and roosters??
Minutes so far:
19,474 January
12,537 February
16,953 March
Well this is my first time, so I think I'm gonna set my goal around 360 minutes. That's an hour and a half a week, which is way less than I've been doing, but I don't want to set my first goal too high just in case.
I'll probably end up doing much more than that anyway.
Gotta wait until tomorrow though, too bad I can't count what I'm doing today. :P
Well I was able to do 696 minutes for March so for April I'm going to set a goal of 800 minutes. That will be an average of 36 minutes and 36 seconds 5 days a week. I'm pretty sure I can do that.
Last month was my FIRST MONTH EVER exercising on a consistent basis. EVER!! I exercised very inconsistently in high school and college then really nothing after, except for a brief gym membership in late 2004. Well, partways into March I set a goal of 1,000 minutes and I BLEW PAST IT at 1,395!!!! And I am the laziest person I know!!! I upped my goal to 1,100 this month and I'm hoping to blow past it again! Wish me luck!
I'm going to challenge myself to a low 400 minutes since this is my first month with an exercise focus. (20 minutes x 5 days per week x 4 weeks = 400, yes?)
Why does even this amount intimidate me?
We're talking cardio minutes, yes? Not strolling minutes?
