In 2008, several of us ran in a 500 miles by Christmas challenge. Some of us got there (and then some---looking at you: Jo, Kitty, & Jenguin!) and some of us reached a different goal (300, thank you very much!).
Now we are starting a new year and have a new goal!
The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step....Are you IN???
This thread is open to everyone--if you are thinking of running 1000 miles by 12/31/2009...or 600....or walking 300...the idea is to move and track your mileage and have some fun along the way!
Kitty, I need to make a ticker.
Jo, a NYE run at midnight? That sounds fun (cold....but fun!). I have a run scheduled New Year's Day, so I'll be right behind you.
I was talking to DH last night about a good goal and we crunched some numbers. So, here's what some mileage might look like.
Joyful, if you go for 1500, you are looking at about 29 miles a week. That's quite doable (and impressive)!
1000 miles = about 19 miles per week
800 miles = about 15.5 miles per week
700 miles = about 13.5 miles per week
300 miles = just under 8 miles per week
I've been running about 10 (3-4 miles about 3 times) miles a week consistently. I would have to double that to reach 1000 miles, which I could do, but it would take more time than I currently have allocated to running. But this is supposed to be a challenge.
I'm in for 800 miles in 2009. I think I can achieve it but it will take some work.
