did W1D3 sunday. Went very well. Wasn't outa breath at all surprisingly. Def sweating like a pig tho lol. Trying to squeeze in the start of W2 tomorrow or Wed. I use an the c25k app on my phone and every time i finish i write a little in the journal section and rate how it went that day 1-10 difficulty. I think it will be pretty cool to look back and see how hard i thought it was the first couple weeks when im running 30min straight
Ok, I finished W3 tonight, and really, it wasn't that bad. My only problem are my calves. I wasn't really out of breath or anything, but my legs hurt so bad I almost stopped. Mind over matter.
I think doing C25k the day after my bootcamp is too much. For the duration of this bootcamp, I'm going to work out 5 times per week, with Mondays being an extra rest day. I took an espom salt soak tonight after my run, per my bootcamp instructor, and I do believe that it helped.
Week 5 is in the books! I did the 20 minute run last night and it was something else I dropped from 5.5 to 5.3 for the last 4 minutes because I wanted to quit, and decided that was a good compromise.
Im feeling pretty good about this, on W1D1 I thought there was NO way this was going to happen. But it is, it really is going to happen, and I am almost there!
Did Week 3, Day 1 yesterday -- getting ready to do it again tomorrow. If you would have told me 2 weeks ago that I would be able to run for 3 minutes straight I would have laughed at you.
Anyone mind if I ask a few questions about the program??? I am really curious yet nervous. I hate running. But as much as I hate running, I have always wanted to participate in local 5K's and my husband wants to as well and I really think it would be a good opportunity for us to do it together. But again, I have never been a runner, and it's always been a huge challenge to me, even when I was a healthier weight. So anyone in the same boat who has found reward in doing C25K?
Also, my main goal is to lose weight, has anyone lost anything while doing this program? I know obviously it's a workout and you will lose some but has it been good to lose more then just a little?
I'm doing W3D3 tonight -- W3D1 was easy and W3D2 kinda whooped me so I'm ready to enjoy tonight's run and then have a panic attack about doing W4D1 and my first 5 minute run on Sunday.
@AshleighAO: I hate running. Not only do I hate the exercise, but my father and grandfather who I hate -- love running and so I've just always hated it because it was something they enjoyed. Even when I was at a healthy weight in middle school, when we had to run the mile, I would only run three times around the track and then pass it off as four because I hated it so much. I'm not sure even in the midst of W3 that I enjoy running -- but for some reason the program keeps me accountable, and keeps me going to the gym every other day.
I lost 6 pounds in my first two weeks of C25K. My weight loss progress has stalled this week -- but I'm not sure if that's muscle mass gained from the longer runs OR stress over Graduation OR stress over finals OR stress over finding a job OR all of the above. I'm continuing to lose inches though because my pants fit MUCH better than just a 6 pound weight loss. It's a big workout, because even though I don't burn as many calories (according to the treadmill anyway) as my usual workouts -- I'm more sore, sweat more, and feel better after my workouts.
^very helpful, thank you InsidetheBeltway. I talked it over last night with my partner and explained the program to him and he was very excited about. It's something we have always wanted to to (more or less I want to participate in the charity runs my city holds) and he's always getting me to try jogging with him, but I hate it. Well he thinks the program sounds cool and wanted me to think about doing it with him... and I think I may have decided to give it a shot today...
I started to -- and I know a lot of people do, particularly those who want to lose weight on the program, but I've since stopped. For me, my body seriously benefits from those rest days. If I had supplemented the program with other exercise, I'm not sure I would have been able to keep going without repeating a week. So that's an entirely personal choice. There's a thread about it on 3FC.
Because I'm not above 25 posts it won't let me post it -- but the thread is called "Those doing C25K...do you supplement?" If you want to go search for it.
AshleighAO- When i was younger i did every sport you can think of but i always hated running long distance bcuz my chest would burn so bad. I remember in middle school i signed up for what i *thought* was short distance sprints bcuz i was very fast but was actually cross country...i wanted to die! I really enjoy the C25k. It makes the 1/2 hour go by so fast! I'm only on W2 but it really fun so far! you should def try it
Today was awful -- I ended up walking the last minute of my second 3 minute run because my legs were like "nah, that's okay we don't want to do this anymore." So I'm going to have to repeat a day or two to make sure I'm ready to move on to W4D1 because right now, I'm not ready at all.
I just finished week 4, I'm a little nervous to start week 5. I feel fine, but again, it's my calves. I'm not sure if it's because I ran last night and it was more humid than normal, or it was my first workout since Thursday (I hurt myself....had to get something in my back popped back into place), or because I ate like crap all weekend, but yesterdays run was difficult. It was probably a combination of all those factors, lol!
My boyfriend and I made it all the way to week 7 running on an indoor track. But when we moved it outside it has been so much harder. I find myself giving up to easily. I have only been able to make it about 23 min straight running(jogging really). I have gone back and done some intervals to see if that will condition me more but I find that they are hard as well! I have no idea what to do?
