Welcome, Katybug!

oh and MrsTee - I Can not WAIT to be cold this winter. I just moved to the Desert from the Pacific Northwest and I'm... melting. "but it's a dry heat." Not during Monsoon it's not. Today was actually overcast and my walking time was 10 minutes faster than usual. That sun is cooking me. I'm telling myself that it's burning extra calories, too. Certainly lugging around that 4L waterbottle for the first half of the walk (it shrinks quickly) is helping.

How do the rest of you ladies deal with the heat? Any secrets? So far, mine is water water water, iced green tea, and misters on the back patio. Mom is putting in a pool - the guy came out today - so hopefully by NEXT summer I'll be able to do that morning work out in cool water. Ahhhh.

Love the new thread name! Huzzah!

O.K. MrsTee here I am.

Hey all I'm Learn. Some of you know me from the POSITIVE thread, those who don't "HOWDY"!

Sandi- It's wonderful that you can connect with your son as your exercising. Your instilling a great habit of exercising too. I exercise in my pool for an hour everyday and my 14 yr old son usually joins me each time. He makes it so much more fun.

kiki- I'm in Fla., and along with the heat we have the humidity. I've hated it down here since my parents moved us here. August 11th. will be 39 years. As I told Sandi I exercise in the pool, otherwise I'd have to use the Wii in the A/C. My niece is in AZ with higher temps and I don't know how she handles it. Give me fall and winter any day.

Lovely- Hope you rested well.

OMWD- You Too! Hope you rested well also.

Katybug- It's a wonderful feeling leaving those 300's behind. Welcome to 3FC.

MrsTee- Your right we all might notice the cold weather more this winter and then we get to notice the summer heat a bit more tolerable.

zinke- I went on vaca several weeks ago and gained 3.5, but it came off real quick when I came back home and got back into my normal groove. Enjoy your vacation.

I hope I got everyone, if not .. me sorry!

I had a POP day eating wise yesterday, but took a day off from exercising. Only the 3rd. day I've rested all month. Even on vacation and on the road I walked whenever we stopped at rest stops and we stayed with relatives that had a pool, so I stayed busy.
I am a died hard POSITIVE thread fan, so I will be posting over there also. One can never have enough praise and positivity while on this journey.

I look forward to getting to know everyone here and joining you on this journey.

Have a POP day all

Mornin' folks!

Zinke - Keep strong for the rest of your vacation

MrsT - Heat is hot ;_; I'm a typical fat chick who hates the heat! But, I'm fickle about all temperatures! There's no pleasing me, it seems. The thought of smoked salmon has me drooling

OMWD - You bet! I love extra energy Hope you had a good rest last night.

Hey Learn! Definitely glad to have you join! I completely agree with you. Positivity is a necessity for this journey. Nothing but praise for all the good choices we make

Wyllow
- The AC... I don't know how I'd deal with it otherwise. I stay in doors on the hottest days with the AC on and just move inside the house. When I get my own house I'd LOVE to have a pool. Used to love swimming about when I was younger at my friend's houses who had pools.

I have a day of cleaning ahead of me, but ... I'm really feeling good about it. It's Friday, I've got things I can do, the husband might be home early, then maybe I can go out to the local produce store (which would be great!).

It's a day I'm looking forward to I hope you all are going to have great days, too!

I love the new name for your thread! I like joining the decade threads, but feel like you're making and leaving friends pretty quickly in them. You guys have each other's support all the way down! I know - we all have each other's support throughout the forum, but this thread is very special - I can see the relationships. You need to plan a big Onderland celebration. Start saving now, pick a spot, and meet for a huge party! Everyone from the states goes to Australia, or everyone chips in and pays for part of Tee's ticket to the states!

Great job, everyone. We all need the support of our friends, and I am always thankful for the support of my cyber friends in 3FC.

Another quick check in. Today has been an at home day with the family. The food tracker has been open all day and I still have enough calories left for a small piece of the *********FOOD PORN ALERT****** Mackinaw Island Fudge that we bought. Just a small piece though.

I'm also happy that we changed the name. I think I like sticking with a bigger group longer. At least I won't get left behind

Learn GREAT to see you !! Just like a dual passport holder - you can be a dual thread poster! But seriously it is great to have you on this thread - you bring such a terrific attitude and a can-do way of looking at our journey towards onderland.
Silent - you too are most welcome!
Katy - so nice to meet you, stay a while!
Lin I agree, we are collecting a fabulous gang here, I look forward every morning to checking in.
Saturday morning for me, just been and watched number 3 child (number 2 son) play soccer, they had a big win so that puts everyone is a good mood!

Everyone seems to be well on top of their daily challenges, and the heat- great work, keep up the postive attitude - its REALLY CAN BE DONE, this journey of ours - perserverence is the key, every meal, every day, they add up quickly. I am trying hard this time to not look to far into the future, but....
I am looking forward to pushing on for another half kilo and that takes my loss to 20 kilos ( 44 pounds) and about the first third of the weight knocked off!

I am so up for the party - I'll start saving for my ticket to the ONEDERLAND EXTRAVAGANZA now

Wonderland Extravaganza sounds fabulous!!! I am off for vacation tomorrow. Only a 4 day weekend but still going to try my hardest to stay OP. I know that one night is gonna be tough since we are going to a really nice steak house with friends but the rest should be manageable. ANYWAYS....Everyone have a nice weekend and keep your fingers crossed that I don't blow it.

Whew...I'm beat...Tomorrow is the big party and I am completely spent. I have my food planned out tomorrow, so it will be an on plan day. Then after that we are on vacation. I have never ever stuck to a plan while on vacation before and although I know exactly what to do, I am somewhat nervous the same. Please send me some good "stay on plan" vibes when you think of it this week.

Off to bed!

Today has been... challenging. It started with my mom saying "Hey I've lost 6 lbs since you've been here and I'm not even trying! I even ate CHEESECAKE last night." and then later "I've lost enough weight now so that I need a belt!"

It ended with me eating beef and three colored pepper kabobs that tasted delicious but have left me feeling *uncomfortable* and bloated and I keep burping in front of my partner Eric, who went through pregnancy with me - but really would probably prefer I didn't. He loves me despite my bloaty belly.

I walked my normal 2.5 miles this morning and shaved off 10 minutes from my time - that was good. I did Pilates. It kicked my marshmallow core. But, I feel if I keep doing Pilates, soon my core will be at the very least a chewy nougat. And I made my water goals and then some.

Then I spent the afternoon trying to make sense of net calories versus consumed calories and what carb/fat/protein percentages I'm supposed to have in a day. I KNOW I'm overthinking all of it, but for some reason, I just can't stop the brain monkeys from running amok. I'm consuming between 1500 - 2100 calories a day, and burning between 900 - 1200 calories so I'm netting below my suggested 1780. Sometimes I don't even net 1000. Does that mean I'm doing it "Wrong?!"

I think I'm a control freak. I've always thought I was SO laid back. I am *so*not* laid back.

OH... and I'm EMO as HECK. I either have PMS a wee titch on the early side, or all of this change is playing havoc with my hormones or my emotions.

It is the first frustrating day of many. I realize I had some great successes. I also came to terms with my mother's comment - with her heart condition and her diabetes 2, she sees me working hard and really wants to feel healthy about her choices too, even though they aren't. It's her way of "joining in." Though I wish she wouldn't.

She could possibly be benefiting from the fact that Partner Eric and I have been doing all of the dinner cooking for the past week and have kept our meals (until tonight) under 400 calories. - NAH!

OK. I'm done.

That was even more relieving than all of my burps. Sorry if that's TMI!

-Kiki

I think its natural to feel a bit put out by comments like your mums - agreed she is trying to be a part of your weight loss journey, but I don't blame you for not jumping for joy at her comments, its a funny feeling when people say stuff like that.....I feel a bit yeah buts its about ME not YOU...

Wyllow, you sound like you are really motivated at the moment, and if not overthinking cetainly spending a lot of time analyising!
In the end the way you are now has to become a way of life if we are to succeed- and that's what I try to focus on. I don't beleive there is a right and wrong? Just what works for you. Me? I could not spend that much energy counting and thinking, I am basically lazy!! If I overeat in one meal, I drastically cut down the next - NOOOOOOO I hear you all shout - but it works for me, I am prone to the guilt that leads to the "oh well, you are dumb/ stupid/ lazy and you have blown it now" type feelings that lead straight to a packet of chocolate biscuits...so this works for me, maybe a penance? maybe reaserting control? Don't know, all I know is I am able to keep moving forward like this.

So Wyllow do WHATEVER works, be happy, remind yourself of your success, and watch the ticker move down.

Rainy evening here, sun turning the sky pinks and reds, lights on and fires going, I can see people tucked up in the neighbouring houses, fresh smelling and chilly clean air, makes you glad to be alive!!!!!!

Happy day everyone!

I'm sure we'll have a big celebration when we all hit Onderland! ^_^

Silent - !!!

Zinke - Mmm... food porn

MrsT - You're doing fabulously! It sounds like you had a great Saturday out with the family And the evening picture you described... serene!

OMWD - Have a super time on vacay and you can definitely stick on plan while relaxing and having fun Tell us about it when you get back.

Sandi
- Many, many "stay on plan vibes" being sent your way and all around. You can do it! You can do it!

Kiki - Ahh mothers. I am also prone to overthinking... especially when I'm in bed trying to sleep. I (personally) never try to estimate the calories I've burned. The estimators can be off by a lot, even monitors can be off, so I just do it by intensity and time as best I can. I keep intake separate. Whatever I take in, I take in. Burning off a little bit through exercise is just icing... you know... anti-calorie icing >_> For now... are you feeling good with your level of activity? Eating enough without feeling stuffed? Losing weight and/or inches? Then you're doing it right.

My scale has been messing with my head all week. I'm not talking about a little bit, either. It's a difference of four pounds. That's a big chunk of pounds. I'm trying to take it in stride as best as possible, of course. I know I'm within my points, I know I've been getting in a TON of activity this week. I also know where there could be improvements. I had two days this week that were "coulda been betters". So... what to do? Keep the activity, keep my food within my points, and choose a little better

I've found that when I don't have a drawer full of fruits and vegetables that I tend to go for more of the processed foods, which while I'll never cut out completely I don't want them to be the only things I eat. I think I need to increase how often I go to the local produce market.

I'm a bit nervous about today. Not about the family visiting... but about the food! They're kind of picky eaters (my sister doesn't like seafood... how can someone not like any kind of seafood and live in New England?!), and her husband won't touch a vegetable unless it's corn or potatoes. I briefly thought that maybe we'd just order out...pizza or Indian or something. You can see where I'm starting to get nervous, right?

I don't mind ordering out, but with having two "coulda been better" days this past week already I want to make sure I choose the healthiest things possible and keep portions in line. So, of course, I'm pre-planning the planning. If we do pizza: I will make sure we order at least one Veggie covered pie, and I will stick to 2 slices. At the same time I will toss together a HUGE salad. So I can have a big salad, and two slices of veggie pizza and that will be satisfying. Although calories/points for pizza are always a crazy thing to figure out. After all, this is a tiny local place. They don't have nutritional info. So I need to find the closest type of pizza and estimate as best as possible. But, you know the type of pizza a local place has... it's fairly big, normal crust, and then SMOTHERED in gooey (delicious!) cheese. Most nutritional places I've found don't estimate for normal pizzas. They assume it's some sort of boxed pizza.

Ooookay. And now that I've rambled long enough Very sorry. Eating out is just one of those things. I don't want to underestimate what I'm eating. Overestimating a smidge is fine, but underestimating is not. I'm sure you can all understand.

I'm keeping breakfast and lunch very light so that I'll have the Points to play around with dinner. And, again, more activity to be done by organizing and making sure my house is suitable for guests. I swear I should have family over once a week to keep me from cluttering up the place.

Anywho. I will stop flapping my gums so that I can start getting things done. Thanks for listening And have awesome days everyone!

Good morning. The scale was kind to me again this morning. Some of the vacation pounds are coming back off. Less than one to go now I think.

Today here will be pretty low key. We have to make a trip up north to go check on our house and then the rest of the day will be spent at the MIL's. I'm not real pleased by that as she is notorious for not having anything decent to eat and then getting take out for dinner. She lives in a very small town and none of the restaurants have nutritional info so I'm going to have to wing it.

When I'm in weight loss mode I am also an over-thinker. But I do find that it helps me as it is always in the back of my mind. It is when I quit thinking that my bad habits start to slide in more and more. I get emails from the zenhabits.net blog. He recently had one about willpower-vs-habits that I found pretty appropriate to me. So, I am getting off the computer and going to find the kids some breakfast. Then I will take advantage of morning cartoons to occupy the kids and DH being in the shower to go downstairs and find something to BLESS MY BODY.

Have a great day everyone.
