two weeks and my weight is down .5 and I have been OP, but I have been retaining... Ah well, what doesn't kill ya makes you stronger.
I gto a headache before the concert last night and unfortunately sat infront of this girl (she was my age) who screamed the whole entire concert. even my BF was annoyed. Sarah was awesome though, I just wished I had felt better.
Belle: if you work doesn't cover the costs of your certificate, you can claim them on your income tax. I will be doing lunch hoyur french classes this fall here.
Ali!! I am going to Sarah on Sept 8 (my very late b-day gift from February). Woo hoo! Can't wait. I am sorry your head hurt. Now I have to get tix for hillary duff for my neice! Yikes. 0.5 is still down, so no worries - you have the other non-scale victories....here is today's Skinny Daily Post, for inspiration:
Non-Scale Victories
You’ve heard many admonitions not to focus too hard on the scale when you’re working to lose weight. But how else can you monitor your progress? How do you know your hard work is paying off? How do you know if your diet is working?
Weight loss societies and programs of every ilk recommend attending to other measures of success. Diet warriors call these “non-scale victories” or NSVs for short. What is an NSV? Any event, ability, bit of data, or observance that shows your health and fitness are improving. Anything, that is, except your total weight.
What do NSVs look like for those of us who work at a massive weight loss? They include things like being able to wear our wedding rings again, comfortably picking a dropped pen off of the floor, being able to cross our legs, seeing our knuckles and wrist bones emerge, fitting comfortably in public seating, climbing stairs without getting dizzy, watching body measurements change, jeans sizes drop, dropping medications, recovering easily from colds, less arthritis pain, fewer asthma attacks, lowering blood pressure and resting heart rates, clearer skin, less hair loss, less unwanted hair growth, healthier feet, more comfortable walking, easier shopping, finding clothes that fit — the list goes on and on and looks different for everyone.
But NSVs are also behavioral. It’s a big victory when we comfortably and easily make choices to move more and eat less or eat a better quality of food. It’s a big NSV when we learn to say no to one more responsibility to make time for exercise and healthy eating. It’s a major NSV when you find ways to exercise with friends, family, community. It’s a great big hairy NSV and very good karma when you participate in changes in your community that help everybody eat better and move more.
Your personal NSVs are worth collecting on a list, on a page, in your body log or diet journal. By keeping a list of all the advantages and successes you’ve earned, you have an easy source of motivation for staying on track when doing that gets hard, boring, frustrating, or when the scale is not showing what you wish it would.
Your record of non-scale victories is the truest measure of your hard work and of the many advantages that a healthy diet and regular exercise will bring you. You’ll soon see that a mere scale reading pales considerably next to a normal cholesterol count, healthy blood pressure reading, or lowered heart rate. You may not know that now, but please trust me that 10, 50, 200 lbs. from now, your NSV list will be a great treasure.
Belle: It's funny, I mentally tell myself, it's fine, but part of me is like "I want this to be faster", although I know that weightloss should be slow to help entrench all those healthy habits and such. My Sarah tickets were from my 1 year anniversary which was also back in february. She is awesome though, and she looked like she was having fun too!
My non-scale victories are: currently looser clothes (yah) and being able to run faster.
My long-term victories have included: smaller clothes, running, more energy, more confidence, being able to bend over without feeling winded, feeling bones, seeing my collar bones, lower blood pressure, very good hip to waist ratio, low resting heart rate, doing a step class, doing a push-up, feeling confident not wearing much, clothes are cheaper, no x's in my clothing size.
Now I have 2 interviews tommorrow woohoo . . . wish it were on friday tho b/c they are in the district where this fab green market is but its only open MFS
DH and I are hitting the grocery tonight
and I want to rethink my list for some healthier options
usually I buy lots of veggies and stuff but I want some things that are easy and healthy So I'm not standing over a hot stove just to have a lunch that isnt PBJ like i just had
My NSVs have been rings and clothes fitting better and when I see my collarbones
Hi everyone! We are back from vacation in North Carolina-I actually did ok-exersized a lot-but i am getting to WI this week-probably tomorrow...
Can I just say, is anyone watching the Olympics? Women's gymnastics-the girls are looking healthier overall on the US team, anyhow, but my goodness, has anyone else seen Svetlana Khorkina from Russia? DH and I were watching last night and we couldn't even look at her she was so thin and obviously has some type of eating disorder-someone give that girl a Big Mac!!! I was afraid she'd pass out doing some of the stunts!!!
Kierie: yah on the interviews!!! Yah I need to get more produce too... after work I guess.
Lori: Yup, I have been watching. Also the divers looked really healthy! So did the swimmers. I did see Khorkina and she looked beyond skinny, though apparently tehre has been talk that she's lost some weight and some power. I looked at the height and weight of some of the Canadian gymnasts... They're like 5'2 125lbs depending... Really healthy weights. I knew a gymnast who went to the US on an athletic scholarship and she was like 5' and very muscular, but not anorexic at all. It was refreshing to see. I wish young girls would aspire to be like these athletes instead of people like Paris Hilton.
I am the produce Queen of the universe! ofcourse I also caved and got DH brats and some frozen junk luckily most of the stuff we got is healthy
I don't know if i'll get to post tommorrow
we're having the outlaws over for dinner

btw the cavatelli and broc is super easy to make just sautee the broc in EVO and garlic toss with the cavatelli and top with parm
mind you I'm going to steam the broc in MR Microwave and hopefuly just be able to flash it in the oil so its not too greasy
but its impressive looking
