Hi Girls

I went for the sonogram today. The guy was too cute. I hate when I get cute guys. We talked alot about different things. I wanted to distract myself. I felt sort of embarrassed. He had to go up to my groin then all the way down to a little below my calfs. He said there were no blood clots. I go next Wed. for the results.

Awwww Terri, what a Mom I buy David a choc.bunny & he's 33 yrs. old. I can't do that this year cause his cholesterol was a little high. I have to think of something else.

Linda, I love AOL. I hope you get the problem fixed soon. I'm glad you're able to post. You're one of us now. We're not letting you go.

Let me go. I'm a little tired today. Maybe I'll watch my soaps. I haven't watched them all week.

Have a nice evening.

Hugs,
Es

Hi Everyone,

I hope the worst is over for now. Greg has been expelled from his high school as they have a zero-tolerance policy for even being in the presence of someone using drugs on the premises. Greg admitted that he had been smoking and so they have excluded him from the school until next fall when he can be readmitted with an appeal and good behavior. The police were informed, but thank goodness we do not have to go to court. We had been researching everything possible to help him, including talking to his therapist, lawyers, and the state department of education. The school administration felt that they had to apply the policy and still expel him. Several of his teachers called the principal to try to get him to reconsider, but to no avail.

What they did do though is to admit him to an alternative program with night school and work study during the day. He will lose a lot of his class standing, and German and Physics credits for this year. But if he can handle this program he will still graduate next year with his class. I can only hope. He leaves me very uncertain because of the depression, but I think it is beginning to lift. He will at least be able to see the therapist more often now. I know Greg likes him, all I want to know is that we are doing the right things to get him back to the healthy kid I remember.

I just wanted to update you all, thanks for keeping us in your thoughts. I will get back into everyone else's business really soon. I am just trying to pull myself up by my bootstraps, and I think things are starting to look a little better.

Hugs to all,
Sandy

Sandy, it's so thoughtful of you to keep us up to date on what's happening with Greg. I've been very concerned about him. I can see he's trying which is a positive thing. He has 2 parents who love him very much. He will realize that when he gets older. I will keep him in my prayers. You take care of YOURSELF. I know this has stressful for you. I've experienced what stress can do. Please stop in once in a while. You know we are all here for you.

Terri, Brittany is a very sensible young lady. If she doesn't want to go to the prom I'm glad you're not trying to talk her into it. I can't blame her. I hate crowds too. She might change her mind. Like you said, whatever makes her happy.

Linda, I keep losing water. Since the last 2 weeks I've already lost 12 lbs. My primary physician, who has known me for 20 yrs., didn't tell me I had to lose weight. She knew it was water. The 2 specialists didn't know me from adam. They just met me for the first time so they thought this was my actual weight. They are going to be very surprised the next time they put me on their scale. I'm not saying I don't want to lose weight because I know for my height I am too heavy. I'm only 5'2". I enjoy exercising so once I can start doing that again, I'll start losing again. After I get the results on Wed. I'll find out if I can get back to my regular routine. I can't wait to back to Curves. Do you exercise?

What is everybody doing for Easter? It's supposed to rain.
We're going to church then back home. Maybe we'll rent some movies.

I'll be back tonight.

Have a nice day

Love,
Es

Talking Morning!!

Happy Friday!! I'd be even happier if I were home and not here! But what can you do???

Es - I "like" to exercise. Unfortunately I have arthritis in both hips. And I have very limited movement in the left and the right isn't as bad, but I have flare up's more often than I like to think of. So I try to do upper body stuff on the Total Gym and walk. So far I don't have problems walking. I can't walk and walk and walk like I use to do without stopping. My problems are different, but it's a long story. But thank God I can still get around very well. I'm suppose to have a replacement this August and I am not looking forward to that. People say "why August" and I tell them that in July "I'm going to Walt Disney World"

Terri - you're like me. I still get DS a chocolate bunny. He's 14 and while I think he's too old for a "basket" I'll hide little things around the house and he loves to find them. Sure...I hide a few $1 bills!! The kid is a shark!! At times he has more money than me!!

Sandy - I'm Linda. In your absence I found this great bunch of ladies. I read what's been happening in your life and my heart goes out to you and your family. I have a teen boy, he's 14 and it's so very hard today to raise children today. I'll keep you and the family in my prayers and hope that everything works out for you.

Well I'll be busy this weekend. I'm having Easter Dinner at my house and there's going to be 7 for dinner. I'm really looking forward to it. I enjoy cooking.

I should be able to pop in occasionally to say "Hi". But just incase I can't....
A Happy and Blessed Easter to all of my newly found buddies!!

Linda, you are going to be busy. It's just going to be Pete(hubby), David & me. I have a turkey breast so I'm going to make that with some yellow rice with little pieces of ham & salad. I'm baking a cake. I hate to do this to myself cause cake, cookies, & ice cream have always been my weakness but David loves home made cake. He's still my baby & he loves his Mom's food. I feel like I have so much to do & not enough time. I'm going to a bridal shower tomorrow. It starts at 12:00 PM. I hope it's not too many hours. I have to buy a nice blouse for Easter. I have a brand new skirt that I haven't had a chance to wear so I can wear it to church.

It's pretty quiet around here. I know everybody is busy. I'll be back tomorrow to let you all know how the shower went.

Hasta manana amigas

Sandy,
It sounds as though you, as parents, are doing everything possible to help Greg. I hope it all works out. Good luck and please let us know. You are in my prayers. Have a good Easter, and remember, we're here for you.

Es,
Not seeing any clots is a good thing. When it comes to bosses, and medical personnel, it seems to me, they're ALL younger You've lost alot of water! It would be so cool to consider that a loss, but you're smarter than that... and know you wouldn't be being fair to yourself Hope you enjoy your meal, and David his cake!

Linda,
It sounds as though you fit right in! It's so cool to have someone join and there's no awkward stage. Just to clue you in....I'm from Chicago originally, now in a burb. Married to Joe for 32 years, daughter is 30, son is 25, two grandsons ,Brandon, who is 8 and Matt, who is 3. I've been on and off WW for 15 years...but I'll never give up! Need to lose 75 lbs. and I'll be content with that. Just began a new job...customer service rep/cashier/switchboard for a town of 65,000 people, two weeks ago. I worked retail for 24 years, from part time clerk to management. I'm loving the new position.

We're going to church with Joey and Iliana on Sunday, then we'll return home to make dinner, and have Jess and Mike, with the boys over for dinner. Joey and Iliana will be going to her brothers'. I'm looking forward to seeing the boys.

have a good weekend!

Default Good Saturday Morning!!!!

What a beautiful morning here in "Da Bronx"

Es - I'm going to be a little busy but not too much. First we hit Arthur Avenue for some "goodies". I want to make a nice antipasto to begin. Then my MIL is bringing the aroz con gandules and I'll have baked glazed ham, macaroni and cheese (low fat of course) roasted potatoes for those who perfer spuds, veggies and dessert. The dessert is a homemade Dominician Cake. I absolutely love that cake!!
But it's really a simple meal and I like to cook. I hope you have a good time at the shower!!!

Jen - I absolutely love this place and everyone here! I do feel right at home and a big to everyone who made me feel so very welcomed!! Where in the "burbs" of Chicago? I had friends that lived in the Shomburg (spelling) area. Isn't it great when you like what you do for a living?? Too bad my boss is such a . I think Es and I have the bosses from ****!!

Well I need to get going. I want to hit the market before it get's late. An Italian neighborhood on the Saturday before Easter gets very, very, very busy. I'll check back in later on this afternoon. Hi to everyone!!!

Hi guys:

Sandy - You and your husband are doing everything possible to help Greg and I'm sure he appreciates it. I feel bad for him, because even though he shouldn't have been doing what he was doing, I don't think he should have gotten expelled for it - I would think a suspension would have been more appropriate. It just seems like the school went a bit overboard to me. Anyway, I hope things get better and we're always here for you.

Es - Glad to hear you didn't have any clots, that's really great. I can't wait until they find out what the heck it is though - I'd be going bonkers Enjoy your dinner with Pete and David

Linda - How funny - "Arthur Ave" was on tv last night - they named a certain place (can't remember) where you could get all kinds of great meats and breads, etc. Sounded yummy! Do you live near there? I know nothing about the bronx, except Yankee stadium

Es - Enjoy your dinner with your family.

Terri - You too!

We are going to church with Lisa and family, Darren and family, step-son willie and girlfriend, etc. Then we'll all go back to Lisa's for an early dinner. We are having pernil (roast pork), arroz con gandules, pasteles, my "famous" chicken cutlets (by overwhelming request ), lasagna, ham, potatoe salad, regular salad and all kinds of desserts. Everyone is making something and also bringing some soda, chip, dip, etc. It should be a lot of fun. There's so many grandchildren that Alana came up with the idea of me putting together one huge basket with bunnies, jelly beans, kisses, hersheys miniatures, etc. for all of them, instead of separate candies for each. It looks so pretty with all the colorful candies.

Well I walked yesterday and brought my mileage up to 5.2 miles and did another 5 miles today, so I'm getting there. It was such a beautiful day in the park and they had an easter egg hunt for the kids - so cool seeing the huge baseball field filled with colorful easter eggs. It was fun to watch the kids go crazy when they set them loose on the field

Okay, let me go to the butcher, last minute as usual to get the cutlets, etc.

I wish everyone a blessed Easter with their families and friends.

Ruthie, ZoeGirl and Janie - Happy Easter guys!

Hugs,
Dianne

HAPPY EASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sandy,
I am so glad that things are looking up. I think of you and Greg often. Things will work out. I see he is well liked because teachers won't do that if he wasn't a good kid. Probably just the wrong crowd.
He will be in my thoughts.

Es,
I am sooooo glad there are no clots. Great loss with all the water. Bet you feel better.
Hope you enjoyed the shower. That is so cool. David is a lucky son. Hope he enjoys his goodies.

Dianne,
Congrats on the walk. Great mileage. WoooHooo!
The basket sounds so cute. Enjoy your day.

Linda,
Sounds like a great time. Enjoy your dinner.
We hide the baskets. I don't know if I can quit the baskets. My youngest is 11. Britts still wants hers hidden. I hide the Easter baskets and didn't know that everyone didn't hide their baskets. I found out about 5 years ago that people normally don't hide the baskets. My grandma hid my mom's and my mom hid ours and we all thought it was normal. My mom and sister were shocked that noone else did this.

Jen,
Enjoy those boys tomorrow. We are going to church at 11:15 and then out to dinner. Probably to an Easter Buffet. I love those. I have a skirt that is so springy. It is about 6 yrs. old but I love it.

I lost 1 pound this week. We took a 3 mile walk today. It was
beautiful. I got a triple chocolate utopia sundae after the walk and gave
half to Tanner. I ate the chocolate part cause it's bad for him. The
whole thing is 8 points so I ate about 4 or 5 points. I had 12 left for the
day so I am good. Saturday is my day to have something I normally wouldn't
have.

Luv y'all,
Terri

Hi All, Happy Easter!

Thank you again for all your concern, it means a lot to me to be able to vent here and to know I have your support.

David, my older son came home from college for Easter yesterday. He took Greg out to a movie this afternoon. They saw Starsky and Hutch. Mike and I had a quiet afternoon together which was nice after all of the upheaval about Greg. Tomorrow we will be at church first thing, Mike is singing with the choir, then we have reservations for an Easter buffet brunch. After that we head over to Mike's Mother's house. He is one of seven kids, they will all be there with their spouses and children. The grandkids range in age from 22 yo (my David) down to 5 yo (Mike's brother's son who is Mike's godson).

Do you all remember that I was thinking of a treadmill? I finally bought one this week. It seemed like a good idea for stress relief and to continue with my WW and fitness efforts. It is really great to have one right downstairs. We have a TV and a stereo in the room, so unlike at the exercise club, I can listen to whatever I like.

Linda, welcome, I can see that you are a great addition to our group. I apologize for not welcoming you sooner, but as you can see I have been preoccupied lately. I am 51, married for 27 years and have 2 sons, Dave and the frequently mentioned, Greg.

Es, I hope they have eliminated all of the serious concerns about your health. I imagine that the discomfort with the swelling was awful until it was treated. I tend to get swelling in my feet and legs in the summer if I sit still for long spells. It is worse when my weight is up. I hope you are feeling better and that you have a great Easter.

Jen, The job sounds like it will really suit you. I hope it is going well and fits in with all of your other interests. Congrats on getting the pin out and graduating to gym shoes! Yay!

Dianne, Terri and Donna, thank you again for all your kindness I really appreciate everyone here.

Bless you all for being here,
Have a great Easter with your loved ones.

Sandy

Happy Easter!
to everyone......hope you all have a wonderful day with your families.

Terri,
I miss hiding the baskets yep, we have always done that. I remember talking about it here other years...you and I were the only ones, I think!
Sounds like both you and Tanner had a great treat. Good going on the loss!

Dianne,
That must be a huge basket! Sounds like it will be fun with all the family together. Up to 5 miles already...awesome!

Sandy,
It must be difficult for teachers to have to follow today's zero tolerance policies when it comes to kids like Greg, who may have a single instance of straying...I'm sure their support means alot to you. Enjoy your treadmill

Es,
Have a great day, keep your feet up!

Linda,
Schaumburg is about 15 minutes south of me. We're 20 miles NW of Chicago. What kind of cake is that? Do you have a recipe?

Have a great day

HAPPY EASTER TO EVERYONE!!

Terri & Jen - I remember talking about "hide the Easter basket" here too - you two were the only ones who did that, I believe, the rest of us hid the eggs

Just popping in to wish everyone a blessed and joyful day - enjoy!

A BLESSED AND HAPPY EASTER TO EVERYONE!

Just a quick hello to everybody this morning. Went to mass lastnight so I could sleep in a little today. Sure; I woke up at 6:30 instead of my normal 5:00 .

Sandy - please...no apologies needed. You have your hands full. Enjoy your Brunch!

Jen - Now I have a "general" idea where you live! That cake is traditionally made by people of Dominician heritage. I don't have a recipe, but I do know where I can find one. DS says "it's dry" and doesn't like it. I find the texture to be "unique" for lack of a better word and there's something in it I can't place. Ah heck; it just tastes good! I'll find the recipe and post.

Dianne - I hid eggs this morning. Nothing like in years past. But just a little something to keep the tradition going.

Es, Dianne, Teri, Donna (if you're within keyboards ears) I hope you all enjoy this Blessed Day!

Talk to you later.............

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL MY BUDDIES!
The bridal shower was nice. Everything was done in such good taste. I was home before 4:00. I had to run out & buy shoes & a blouse. I found both right away. I'm feeling pretty good today. I finally feel like I have my life back. I was so miserable while going thru this. I go back to WW Friday & if the dr. says it's okay to go back to exercising I will go to Curves right after work Thursday or if my appt. doesn't take too long Wed. maybe I'll go then. I can't wait to get into my regular routine.

Anyway, just a quick hello. David is here. We're going to watch a movie. Enjoy the rest of the day with your families.

Love you all,
Es
