Talking Wowza Wednesday!!

Ya know, it's 3:30 in the A.M. and I'm feeling a little delirious, so I totally understand if you all would like to make fun of the thread title.

I've been keeping pretty busy here on the ol' night shift, but it's a struggle to stay awake at about this time of day/night. Only 2 1/2 hours left for me. I like the work I'm doing and I don't mind nights, except for the struggle to stay awake and not end up sick--last year on nights I caught some nasty virus that made me barf all the time. Hopefully I don't get anything like that this outage.

So, I read through the posts from yesterday, what a fun day you guys all had!! Laura, how was your spa day?

I had WI tonight and by due to some sort of miracle, was down 1.4 lbs. I seriously don't understand it at all. I ate pretty much non-stop all weekend. But, I gotta be good this week or my weekend will catch up with me.

Becky, you asked about how people use their FlexPoints. I use all of mine in one day, usually Friday. I'll eat sensible breakfast and lunch and then just go to town at dinner, eating whatever I want for the entire evening. And I start brand new on Saturday. So far, it's worked really well for me. (Even this weekend, when I didn't start brand new on Saturday and just continued to pig out).

I am a little traumatized--I saw a lady hit a deer on the highway on my way home from work. It was just a young one, and it flew into the other lane on a busy highway, where it just kept getting run over and over. I stopped to see if the lady needed any help or anything, and so I saw people running over it repeatedly. Needless to say, I didn't sleep very well from seeing that just before bed.

Anyway, it's late and I'm out of work to do, so I'm going to work on emptying out the 5 lb bag of Tootsie Rolls in my desk and what's left of my lunch. (See, that's what's wrong with working nights--you get bored and tired and then you just eat!)

See ya!!

Well, i am up to exercise this morning, so I need to make this short, or I will not have time to do it. I get up early all the time and then don't exercise

Hey Jess. I didn't see you around yesterday. Working nights stinks because you don't know when to eat. So I tended to eat all the time. I hated it.

I may get time to post later. Hello to everyone!!

Morning Jess and Crystal!

I stayed OP last night and managed not to use flex points. This leaves me 17.5, should I choose to use them, for today and tommorrow. I am hoping that TOM weight will be gone by Friday so that when I WI I will get an accurate number. I have a scary week coming up. Dh's b-day is on Monday and we are having a bonfire Friday night, Birthday Dinner (just the two of us) on Monday night and then his parents want to take him out next week also. This means lots of yummy food so I will have to use those flex points wisely. I still haven't posted in the halloween challenge b/c I am waiting to see how my first week of WWer's goes. I plan too though.

Jess~ I can totally see how working nights would make you want to snack. The deer thing is pretty traumatic I hope you will be able to put that picture out of your head Thanks for the info on your flex points. It is cool to see how everyone uses them.

Crystal~ Enjoy your exercise this morning!

Laura~ Re: the bed wars...I am blessed that DH doesn't snore. His parents are the worst snorers in the world. I stayed one night before we were married in a hotel room with them and I got up and left to go home at about 4:30 am. I was so aggravated. They just thought I wanted to get an early start I feel your pain b/c I couldn't even handle it for a night.

Faith~ I hope you feel better today. I am glad I am not the only one who thought the flex thing seemed strange but you know what I LOVE IT! Usually in the past when I went over points I would quit and figure I'd blown it but now you just keep plugging along. Very ingenious plan if you ask me!

Lynnie~ Rina responded to your OP question. Don't be embarrassed I didn't know any of the lingo until I asked.

Hi Rina and Angie and everyone else about to post. BTW Where has lexxy been? Are you out there? Pop in and say Hi! And everyone else that hasn't popped in in a while!

Oh I was on the way to work jamming to the Carpenters, Yes those carpenters , and I thought of a good question of the day.

What music do you listen to that you may be a little embarrassed about or that your not embarrassed about but KNOW you should be? Come on ladies fess up!

BBL!

Hey all,

The fajitas were a hit (I made them, but the BF can cook too, he gets aggrevated since he'll cook for his roomate sometimes, but let's just say his roomate is just learning how to cook soup, so his roomie has never cooked for him). Also the BF and I had a LONG conversation and we actually discussed sharing an address so that was good.. Like he's dropped comments before, but this was our first discussion about it, so I was REALLY happy, plus he was the one who brought it up... I guess I was kind of freaked to talk about it initially since my ex-bf brought it up and we discussed it and the boom, he pulled away since the concept of us living together freaked him out afterwards (yes, men can be VERY strange). I guess I have to remember, my ex isn't who I am with now, and the guy who I am with is just amazing!!

Crystal: a very good friend of mine is working on her MSW and she gets aggrevated when people call themselves Social workers and don't have a degree as well, but to be fair, after getting my degree from a University (In Canada, although it's changing, you could only really get degrees from Universities, and diplomas from college), I went to a college where they were calling the students in teh Social work program social workers.

Becky: ABBA!!!! I adore ABBA!!!! Abba discos my world

Belle: Hugs, I hope you're able to see your doctor next week. Take care and hope your trip goes well!

Take care!

Ali

Morning all

Jess, glad to hear you're surviving nights! Won't it be done in about a month or so for you?

Crystal - I always mean to get up early and exercise too, but can never make it! Mattress magnets get me every time

Becky - whoa sounds like you've got a busy week. You'll do fine at all those parties & things, remember to totally enjoy yourself!

Ali - did you make the fajitas out of a mix? Does anyone know how to make them from scratch? I might have to try and find a recipe for them because I always want them but never know what spices to use when I'm making them! Sounds like you've got an awesome guy!

Jen - that's so cute, your little Emma dancing to disco!

Guilty music - Gotta tell you I love Rod Stewart ... And some country music like the really sappy ones I end up singing in the car by myself, which I wouldn't be caught dead listening to around anyone else!

My night wasn't all that exciting, headed out for an hour with a friend to catch a band at a bar, it was all right. fun to hear live music again and just hang out. Otherwise managed to make it to the gym & pilates as planned so that worked okay. Payday is tomorrow, I cannot wait cuz I need some new clothes and I am broke right now!

Well gotta get going, must leave for work soon

Angie: I admit, it was from a kit... I know I'd like to find a recipe as well, though I did add some pepper! I also used tons of veggies

Jess: I saw an aftermath of such an accident, it was horrible, I am sorry you had to see that!

Take care!

Rina: It's NEVER silly to use flex points on chocolate. Never, never, never.

Ali: Ooh, excitement about shacking up! I highly recommend it. DH and I lived together for almost two years before we got married. And if your BF cooks, all the better! Does he iron and clean too, bc that would be really ideal!

Jess: I'm sorry you had to see the deer. I hate stuff like that. I once hit two raccoons ... I swerved to hit the first one, hit it anyway, and didn't see the second one behind it. I cried for an hour and was upset for days. Heck, I'm getting upset just thinking about it now.

Music: DH thinks I have awful taste in music, but I don't care. Sure, I like the cool bands he does, like REM, Cracker, etc., but I adore Barry Manilow and DON'T EVER TAKE AWAY MY JOHN DENVER! I've been known to put the Sound of Music CD on and sing at the top of my lungs. Love ABBA, too. I got "Dancing Queen" and "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" in the wedding music, but DH vetoed a lot of the others.

Hmmm ... my editor snuck out at 10:30 without sending her customary email about where she was going. She took another 2 1/2 hour lunch last week. The norm is two hours now. Friday, when she took the long lunch, she also left at 4:30. Meanwhile, she's always checking up on us reporters. This place coddles editors so much, especially the ones with kids. It really ticks me off. We have two editors who are ALWAYS out the door at 5:30. That puts the burden on everyone else. Now, I want kids very badly, but when I have a kid I am not going to inconvenience my co-workers that way. Heck, I'd like to work a 6-7 hour day every day to be with my dogs, but you don't see me doing that, do you?

OK, off my soap box now.

On a brighter note, my home scale said 188 this morning! So now I'm determined to stay OP the rest of the week. Since I used up all my flex points, it's not going to be easy. I managed to do it yesterday, though. I wanted to go out with DH for dinner, but I cooked instead. Chicken with peppers, mushrooms and potatoes (yummy low-fat recipe, only 4 points a serving), steamed asparagus and sauteed squash. And I have leftovers for lunch today!

Well, I'm writing a book, better run. Hi to everyone!

Good morning everyone!

Kim ~ Glad you are getting all checked out. The beginning of August, on our family trip we rented a beach house in the Outer Banks for a week. We had a great time!

Ali ~ Living together? Holy cow! Actually I think all couples should live together, lots to learn!!

Jess ~ I couldn't work through the night, I can barely stay awake past 9 p.m.!!!!

A big "HI" to Jen, Crystal, Angie, Becky, Lynnie, Belle, and all that I forgot!!

I can't wait to start the flexpoints, it really sounds like it is working for many of you!!

Not much new with me. Working and studying. My kids just started back to school last week, and they are happy to be back. I am starting to think about buying some baby stuff. Since it has been 5 years since I last had a baby, I need everything all over again. I have been looking at car seats, talk about choices!!

My biggest pain right now is names. DH and I don't agree on much. I was hoping you all might be able to help. Our two going choices that we both sort of agree on are:

Elle (pronounced "L" we may call her "Ellie" when she is little)

Reagan

What do you all think? I can't even think of a middle name that goes with Elle. I don't have anyone to bounce these off of since I won't tell family or friends our choices because I want their honest, objective opinions, not....Well, I know a --- and she was a *itch and so on......

Thanks for the help ladies!!

Tonya: I like the name Elle! Can't think of a middle name, but I'll try to. It would need to be something long, to balance a short first name, like Elle Elizabeth ...

Default Good morning

Good morning all - here at work and sick as a dog - i'm sweating, but freezing, bad headache, achy all over, tired. . lucky for everyone I'm not a complainer

Still can't shake my cold, but at least I'm staying within my points. As soon as I got home had a healthy diner, chicken and green beans and went straight to bed.

Greetings Jess - I like how you work your plan, I usually try to be pretty good during the week and then on the weekends I'll splurge, but the problem I have is jumping back into my point system on Monday. I may have to try just one meal on the weekend like dinner on Saturday nite and that will keep me from straying away too many days in a row. Also, the incident with the deer sounds just awful! I think I would have that replaying in my mind for days.

Greetings Becky - okay your question had me laughing my head off - What a wonderful question! I would never ever admit this to any of my friends, but I have 3 Michael Bolton CDs, and I don't know why its embarrassing! I'm also a big fan of movie scores - if I see a movie I enjoy the music stays in my head for days. I especially enjoy celtic/scottish theme songs. My favorite movie songs right now are bonny portmore from the highlander movie/series; Breaking of the Fellowing song from Lord of the Rings; Now we are Free from Gladiator; and the theme songs from the Gattaca movie by Michael Nyman (this is my FAVORITE soundtrack very stirring). But as you can see not your typical songs for a famiy picnic. . .

Ali - Re: live in BFs, marriage and all that stuff - No one laugh - I have been living with my BF FOREVER - I am way too embarrassed to say the number of years - but yes it's forever - we are finally getting married in January - he proposed years and years ago when we first met, and we never got around to the marriage part. On my birthday this month he proposed again and we are finally going to tie the knot. So Ali don't even bother to worry or compare your current BF with your ex. Just be thankful u didn't move in with him P.S. men are the strangest creatures alive. . .

Anyway to everyone else I want to say "good morning/afternoon and evening" and I wish everyone a great day.

Faith
