  • Morning Ladies!

    Today is Friday!! O.K. not quite, but tomorrow is a vacation day for me so I'm feeling very Fridayish. I'm taking tomorrow as a spa day. I have a 90 minute massage, followed by a manicure, a pedicure and then highlights and a haircut. Yeah!

    Went to WI last night and am down 2lbs. Yeah again!

    Finally got my rear in gear and worked out last night. I don't know what my deal has been the last month but working out wasn't it. I did 30 min. on the treadmill and then the arms section of Firm SBS.

    Come on out and tell me about your evenings.
  • Morning Laura! Hey to everyone else about to post!!!

    I am feeling so much better today. I made the stuffed peppers last night and they were very good. I didn't realize how long they would take to cook though so I got home from work and ate way too many points while I was waiting for dinner to cook
    The problem was that I ate very carefully all day so by the time I left work, went to the grocery store and got home I was famished. Soooo I ended up using 11.5 flex points IN ONE DAY. I had used 6 on Friday. Is that horrible. I still have 17.5 left and I have today, tommorow and Thurs. left in my WW week. I am nervous about using these flex points. So I have a Question????

    Those of you who lost on the flex program; Did you use your flex points and how many appx???

    I am just curious. I am going to try not to use anymore this week but is that good or should I use them. Sorry I am a bit confused. Thanks!!

  • Hey all... Emma and I have colds and we are all stuffy. Bluch, I feel yucky!!! It is so dry here, everything is crispy. I try to keep my plants watered, but it is really hard. The grass is a goner!

    Becky, Last week when I lost I ate all my flex points. But it was also my first week back on WW, so that is why I had such a large loss. Remember that flex points are part of the program. Before we had a range to eat from that was 5 points each day. Now we don't have those and it is a bulk 35 points that we can use through out the week. So they are there to use as you want. I think it depends also on you, some people need more points to lose, others don't. So play around with it a little. I use mine mainly on the weekends when it is harder for me to control my food.

    Laura, do you fall asleep with a 90 minute massage. I do with 60 minute ones. I guess that is a good sign of relaxation tho.

    I hope to workout today at lunch again. Tomorrow I take Kate in for her 4 month appt. so I can't and thursday the high tech area is down for maintenance. Bummer.

    I only ended up going to the weight training class last night, since I realized I had to go and buy groceries. S is coming over for dinner tonight and I bought a Fajita kit so we'll have that to dinner tonight (there should be oodles left over so I can keep enjoying it).

    I ended up asleep before 10, but then people kept callinga nd my cat kept waking me up... I really want 8 hours of continous sleep, it's hard to get that, I haven't done that in a while.

    So I plan to go for a jog after work. My exercise has been really good as of late so I am happy! I am sore from my class yesterday which I guess is a good thing.

    Laura: that sounds like tons of fun, enjoy the day off tomorrow and congrats for the exercise and the pounds down. You're at my ideal weight now and it must feel good to be in a new decade.

    Becky: I used all my flex last week and lost, flex points are there to help us stay OP even on bad days kind of deal.

  • Becky - You are doing fine. By my calculations, you have 5.8333 flex points left for each of the next 3 days. You can do that. To answer your question, the first week I did not eat any of them and lost 2.4. This past week I ate 15 of them and lost 2.

    JenL - I've never had a massage before from a professional. I have no idea what to expect.

    Ali - turn the phone off!!!! Hope you get more sleep tonight.

    So I have an embarassing question to ask regarding the massage......how undressed does one get prior to the start of the massage?
  • Laura, I get totally nekked except undies. Tho some ask you to be totally nekked. When I was PG and had one, I wore my undies, but make sure they are bikinis. They work your low back but I have never had anyone lower the towel below my bum. It is very discreet. The first massage I had was from a man, and he was wonderful. After that I have had no worries. They usually tell you to do what is comfortable, but definately no bra because they work your back. You have a blanket/towel over you, and they let you flip over without looking.
  • Jen~ Thanks so much for the info. I am finally doing well and I guess I just felt like I blew it last night b/c I used the Flex points. Wow you seven pound loss is amazing. Congrats Again! I am hoping mine will be substantial this week just b/c I haven't stuck to points in a blue moon and I pretty much quit journaling forever ago UNTIL this week.

    Ali~ I am with you on the sleep thing. 8 hours would be lovely. I am still adjusting to sleeping with DH. There are wonderful things about it but there are also times that I want to boot his arse out of bed, especially during a covers war

    Laura~ I had the same experience as Jen. Just undies on and you are under a sheet. When you turn over they cover you so that you don't feel exposed. I actually had my bootie massaged last time. I had just done aerobics the day before and was extremely sore so she massaged the muscles on the sides of my butt. I was weirded out at first but then I was like mmmmm bootie massages are good.

    Ok just thought I would thank all of you for your responses regarding flex points! BBL!

    Thank God monday is over, right? Did fine on eating yesterday, and went to the gym for 41 minutes on the elliptical, so that went okay. I'm going to try and hit the gym again tonight for cardio then my 20 minute pilates video for toning. Nothing too special going on with me otherwise...

  • Thanks for the massage info ladies! I am very much relieved! Although, I've decided that the occasion warrants new under lovelies so I'm going shopping!

    Becky - I had to laugh at the adjusting to sleeping with DH. I have those midnight wars too. Although usually, it is because he snores so loud I can't sleep. It proved a good thing though today - his snoring woke me up - an hour after the alarm he forgot to set!

    Greetings everyone - I am in Los Angeles - so even though it may be the afternoon for some of you its still early morning for me

    I have not posted since Friday, but wanted to say "Good Morning" and will post again once I read though the weekend threads.

    Sorry I did not post over the weekend, caught a cold and have been feeling like crap all weekend. Did not go to work on Monday, woke up with an awful sore throat and could not move from the bed, and decided my bosses could survive one day without me. And you know what? No matter how guilty they make you feel - the company real does survive when you miss a day . .

    Anyway hope everyone had a good weekend. I did okay over the weekend being sick, but did not count points and did not work out. Today my goal is just to stick within my points and to try to survive work and then go back home to sleep! aacccckk - its going to be a looooonnng day. . .lol

    Laura wishing you a wonderful vacation day. Have fun - have a WONDERFUL day at the spa. I just love the spa! My friends and I try to go at least 3 to 4 times a year, and we just spend the day being pampered. So have a wonderful time!

    Re clothing - the first time I went to the spa I did not want to get undressed and I left my bra and panties on, and I could not understand how so many woman could walk around naked! But after my massage I was so relaxed that clothing did not matter! I go to Burke Williams here and they have the massage rooms, but they also have steam rooms and heated pools and even though a few ladies wear bathing suits pretty much 99% don't wear anything but the robes Burke Williams give you while you walk around the spa. When you have the massage the masseuse pretty much keeps you covered with a towel or sheet except for the one area he or she is msassaging. (I only use female masseuses - my girlfriends all laugh at me though - they always request men )

    Also congrats on the 2 lb loss - I have not lost one pound yet - this is my second week - but it would help if I stuck with my points and journaled, journaled, journaled

    Greetings Becky - I don't know that much about flex points yet. I just started them last week, and I also find them weird b/c when the system went to flex points. I lost 3 points a day which totals 21 pts for the week, but I was given 35 points! Very strange, but we'll see if it works.

    Laura: Congrats on your 2 lb loss. Enjoy your Spa day.It sounds simply marvelous.The only massage I have ever had is from my hubby.

    Becky: I try not to use my flexpoints also.But for the past week I use about 6-7 like every other day.But there are days I stay right on key. Can I ask a silly question and I know I have been coming here for a bit now? But what OP stand for? *blushes*

    My day is very slow. I haven't been feeling quite like myself.Don't know why; maybe boredom??? But as far as eating I am doing well on some days. *blushes*

  • Ok you girls are funny! As a professional Massage Therapist let me tell you it doesn't matter what you wear. Its all about what you're comfortable with. The only areas undraped are the ones that are being treated. We can work with anything. I've done treatments where my patients are fully clothed or totally buck. It really doesn't matter. Its just important to adapt to the patient's level of comfort. If you aren't comfortable there is no way that we'll get a positive response from the tissue. Glute massagea are routine. No big deal. Your glutes are some of the biggest muscles in the body that are constantly being used so of course they need work. A lot of times if a person gets a lot of headaches they need their glutes works & then voila ~no headache! As for the male vs female therapist thing there really is no difference. If you're afraid that guys think sexual tings or are checking out your body believe this is far from the case. The men I've encountered in my profession are very special individuals who care deeply about helping people-not your typical guys. It really hurts the guys I work with when a woman comes to the treatment & then refuses treatment just because they are a guy but of course once again its all about your comfort. Also please don't use the term "masseuse". The correct term is Massage Therapist. A masseuse refers to a person who does sexual acts as part of thei work. In Canada those types were starting to use the term massage therapist so the association had to trademark it so that they can't. Us professional do not want to be mistaken for what they do. Anyway I'll get off my little soliloque!

    I didn't do very good all weekend but I'm back on track now. Lots of stress right now. I went & applied for some part-time jobs this morning so we can get our debt paid down faster. Not too much else is new. I have to go to work right away. Of course now that I had my big long paragraph up there I don't have time to respond to you all!!
