  • Hey all,

just starting a thread for this day to remember BBIAB
  • Morning Ali! It is a sobering thought to think of the events two years ago. I cannot believe that 2 years have past. I hope that the media tones down their reports this year. I heard a lady on the radio yesterday who lost her husband in the Sept 11th attacks and she was talking about how difficult it is at the anniversaries b/c not only are there the "normal" issues that come with loss but you are watching the tragedy over and over again on the news. Very sad thought! Oh well I am thankful for the freedom that we have in this country despite the attacks 2 years ago.

Well on the WWer's end of things I am still going strong. I worked out this a.m. and tommorrow is the big WI of week one. I guess we will see how these flex points are working for me . I have 9 left for today but my goals is to stick to my target. Someone asked me whether or not the point values have changed with the new program and I realized I don't know. Did they. I have been using the old book? Fill me in please????

There were a ton of posts yesterday which is always fun but I have got to get to work so I cannot respond. Sorry! I will talk to all of you throughout the day today though and I look forward to it!!
  • Becky: yeah today is a very thought provoking day, I couldn't imagine what the families of the victims are going through.

On the WW front my weight was down 2 lbs!!! So this means I am at my WW goal which was my bday goal (my birthday is October 2nd). So I am wondering if I can lose 7lbs for Halloween, I'll try!!

I also applied to become a leader/receptionist last night!!

    Take care!

    Ali
  • So I must be the world's biggest witch. I'm pretty much over the 9/11 media coverage. I didn't lose anyone that day. I am not mourning the loss of someone I love. If I was, I certainly wouldn't want it to be a media event. I sort of view it as I do Pearl Harbor. A terrible tragedy in our country's history. I take a moment to reflect and then I do the only thing I can to honor those who lost their lives and those who grieve....I live mine.

I speed read through the posts from yesterday and late Tuesday.

Rina - hope we didn't offend you with our misuse of the term massuese vs. massage therapist.

Tonya - Elle is a pretty name. What about making it a middle name but calling her by it. For example, Katherine Elle but call her Elle and she signs her name K. Elle rather than Katherine E.

Ali - CB backed out the first time we discussed living together. I was crushed. He told me though that he was backing out of living together because he wasn't ready but that he wasn't backing out of the relationship. He spent every day proving that to me and a few months later he was the one persuing a new address with me.

Becky - I think there were only minor changes in the point values but I don't have the new book either so I'm not positive.

I'm such a dork. Our new address labels arrived. With both our names on them. I keep going to look at them and then giggle a lot.

I have a question for all of you. What food isn't worth it to you? For example, I will use FF cream cheese in recipes but not on my bagels. Not worth it. I'd rather just have less of the real stuff. I feel the sameway about FF cheese. LF is O.K. But I do not eat the FF stuff.
  • Ali - congratulations on making your WW goal! I knew you could do it. WW would be crazy not to want you to work for them!
  • Ali~ YOU DID IT!! You rock girl! I agree with Laura WWer's would greatly benefit from you being on their team. Your stats and pics inspire me. I bet so many woman will benefit from that too!!!

Laura~ The address label thing is SO cute. I am glad I am not the only dork. I almost fall over laughing when my husband's students call me Mrs. It is sooooo weird. I always look around for Dh's mom

Oh and my food that is not worth accepting a low fat or FF version is sour cream. I only eat it once in a great while b/c I just eat it on tacos or baked potatoes so when I do Iwant the real stuff. Ranch dressing too although Light done right by Kraft is really good.

I am so excited to shop for dh's b-day gift tonight. I am going to pick up a little something sexy for myself too but ultimately it will be for him Well I will bbiab. I have had 3 no shows already today and it is 11am. So assuming it stays this way I may be around a lot today.
  • Does anyone know the points for California Rolls Sushi??? I am contemplating that for lunch.

Laura, I totally agree with the FF stuff. Being from Wisconsin, I can not stomach fat free cheese. Yuck. same with Cream cheese, I prefer lite. Tho sometimes I don't mind the FF flavored cream cheese.
  • Hey Jen we were posting at the same time. I cannot help you on the California Rolls Sushi Sorry.

Spryng I wanted to welcome you. I forgot to do that in my earlier posts. I am glad that you like wwer's. Come on over and visit todays thread!!! We have mommies on the boards or mommies to be so I am sure you will find you have lots in common with some if not all of us.
  • Oh Yah, Welcome Spryng, My second child is 4 months old now. Sounds like you have your hands full! I have an almost 3 year old and a 4 months old, both girls.
  • Good Morning
Greetings - hope everyone is having a good day. I also cannot believe it has been two years, I can't believe that much time has passed - to me it still seems like just the other day. I will always feel for the families and relatives involved, and I am glad that we have not forgotten them.

On a WW note- Ali BIGTIME congrats on reaching your goal! My WI is this Saturday and I hope that I have lost at least a pound. This is my second week, and during my first week I did not stick to my points, but this week I have stuck to my everyday goal of just sticking within my range.

Also Tonya - I like Elle

Anyway I need to read through the thread from yesterday and will send another reply. I just had to tell everyone good morning and thanks for being here.

    Faith.
  • Laura,

I think alot of the dairy items are not worth it. Mayo has to be real, no low fat or FF, also cream cheese (on bagels), but like you will use the lf in receipes. I will only use real sour cream too, the lf and ff are TERRIBLE!!!!

Other items I can simply live without....candy, chocolate, most meat (except chicken and the occasional steak).

    Good morning to everyone!!

Laura I also agree with you on 9/11. I feel terrible for the families but the media so overdoes it. I just went to a benefit on Sunday for a family I know that her husband was electrocuted at work and died, and left behind a wife and three small children. I feel terrible for her, but their isn't any wide spread media coverage for her and she is feeling the same pain as the 9/11 famillies. I guess everyone has their feelings on this.

Well, need to get working on my homework. I may take tomorrow off of work to go shopping and baby registering with DH (he has the day off tomorrow).

    BBIAB!!!
  • Laura: Thanks, I hope so too.. I think my main disadvantage is my age (and the fact I look young). A lot of people assume that I hardly lost any weight since I am young and just signed on to lose 10lbs and are shocked to find out, I am a huge loser Although I have never had any pregnancy weight gains, I have got to goal from a large weight AND I have slipped after being at goal and managed to get back to it. I was so ready to have the lving together discussion, but I was scared to bring it up over past issues. I admit during our conversations, I tried to sway him a bit towards the topic, BUT he kept giving me little signals that that was what he wanted to discuss (he wants to build a house and he joked that he would have to make some high ledges for my cat to climb on, so I kind of knew he wanted to discuss it).

Becky: I hope so, I would love to become a leader... It would be a lot of fun, and a good way to earn some extra money!

Jen/Becky: I LOVE real cookies, not the low-fat ones!

    Take care!

    Ali
  • me again
okay everyone - sorry i write "sagas" I promise to make this short. Just read through yesterday's thread.

Welcome Spryng - I am also new to this thread, but I can tell you - you will never meet a more motivating and positive group of people. Did you post your info on the bio thread? I also agree that WW is just wonderful! I am starting over again 2 and I just have to quit beating myself up that I let myself gain my weight back after losing most of it on WW last year. "crying over spilt milk - complete waste of time - I know "

Angie - your "mattress magnets" comment made me laugh

Kim - Isn't it wonderful to work your butt off while watching those around you "flake?" I have been at my new job over a year now (I work in a law firm and we are supposed to work 7.5 days) - Most of the people here take two hour lunches; come in an hour late; leave an hour early. I personally can't believe it. My desk is so extremely busy I miss half my lunches; work late (and no they do not pay OT). It's quite amazing people's worth ethics. . .

Also "shout out" to Rina Crystal Lynnie Becky Ali Jen and all those I forgot. P.S. Crystal I love rap music too - and I'm the oldest on the thread - I am way too "old" to listen to rap

Anyway bug all of you later. . Faith

P.S. someone PLEASE motivate me to workout. And if I wait too long to workout can my body become a mass of jello and disintegrate?

I'm being weird - good morning all
    Faith

P.S. Ali your guy sounds absolutely WONDERFUL - he wants to build a house??? Talk about a fantasy of mine. .
  • Speaking as a member of the media, THE MEDIA COMPLETELY OVERDOES IT! Drives me crazy. I'm not one for melodrama, and TV coverage today is going to be full of it. Little kids reading all the names ... jeez. People die every day of awful things, and the media doesn't pay much attention. The papers I've worked for are just as guilty of it. Since 9/11, and then with the Jayson Blair/NY Times thing, I've been seriously considering getting out of journalism. My one consulation is that newspapers aren't like TV. There's a reason I didn't want to be a TV journalist.

    Anyway, enough of that.

Congrats on the loss, Ali! I think you'd make a great WW leader. Can you come to Virginia and be mine? See, I think all the WW leaders I've ever had are too old. I want someone I can relate to, you know? Someone who can address the issue of not being able to go out for drinks every Friday night, for example. I don't think WW caters to the 20- and 30-somethings at all, and maybe that's something you can stress in your interview.

Jayne! Where are you? We miss you now that you're back at school! Come say hi!

On FOOD: I won't use fat-free cheese. Yuck. Same for salad dressing. It's just horrible, the fat-free and the low-fat. So I'm just careful about how much I eat. I don't eat cream cheese much, but the low-fat neufatel is good for cooking. I tend not to eat bagels because there are no good bagel places around here and bagels are so many points!

Jen: I think California rolls are 6 points for 6 pieces. I think the rule is generally 1 point a piece. I'm contemplating sushi myself for lunch.

Welcoem Spryng! I love your name!

Note to lurkers ... HEY! If you're going to post your bio, that means you gotta come say hello to us! You can't just post your bio and leave! No fair!

Becky: I asked my leader about whether points values changed and she said they're pretty much the same. Since I'm using books that are about 3 years old, that's just fine with me. Every now and then I just check points in the fast-food book ... that's what's always changing, it seems.

    Hi Tonya, Faith and Laura!
  • I read that carrots changed. They are now 1 cup RAW is zero points, but 1 cup cooked is 1 point. Same with onions. It has to do with the sugars once the veggie is cooked. I think that is all I heard for changes.

Kim, I searched Dottis site and found a sushi restaurant listed. It said 9 pieces for 6 points. I wonder if it has to do with how they are made. I don't have my WW books with me so I couldn't check in there. I think 1 point a piece is a good measure. The place we go to (only one in town) makes them smaller than other restaurants I have been at.
