Good morning,

Well, got my exercise in yesterday and my water, but still managed to go over points. On the bright side, it was not by snacking on candy, even though the candy jars were all replaced with Easter candy yesterday day. Am I good or what?

Here's a topic for today: how do you gals handle stress eating? I am seeing a pattern here: lately my office hasn't been the happiest place to work, and I think I'm eating more because I'm worried what the future will bring. I am writing my Bar admission course in the Fall, and I am stressed over that as well. I have caught myself (horror of horrors) EATING WHEN FULL. My primary strategy has been to think about smoking cigarettes. Let me explain: I used to smoke when I was stressed, but I quit a couple of years ago. Now I KNOW that no matter how stressed I am I will not go back to smoking. So I am trying to relate this to food i.e. I will not go back to being fat no matter how stressed I am. But I need some other ideas.

Ladies?

Default me again!

hello,
i didn't have any maltesers last night - yeah me!
lolly - good to hear from you! well done on your running and good luck avoiding the cakes! league of gentlemen was fantastic at the theatre last night! they had edward and tubbs as angels rising out of the local shop and trying to redeem themselves so they could get to heaven (swansea)....you must try and catch the tour at some point when you get back. the new bridget jones book was done for comic relief, if you check out the bbc website http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/ent...00/1215742.stm
you can see info about her new book and also the ones that jk rowling did for comic relief.
becky - i have no idea what chicken tetrazini is so i'm of no help i'm afraid!!
emily - try changing your routine a bit, even just eating different foods can help. are you eating enough? doing some exercise might help, but it could just be that your body likes to take things slow and you just have to be patient. keep yourself motivated by looking for other changes (not just the numbers on the scale). def measuring yourself in terms of size or fitness helps...
stacey - go home and stay in bed - you sound really ill. go get a sick note from your doctor and go tuck yourself up in bed and watch tv till you feel better.
jen - well done on meeting the deadline. and very well done on the treadmill, i haven't been on one for ages. must start running program again...but today i'm going to do body conditioning!
tonya - sorry to hear about the land thing not working out. hopefully you'll find somewhere even better.
belle - getting your own space is worth the extra cash. hope the moving out goes well!
ali - you bad girl not having had a smear test - but good on you finally getting an appointment!! how embarassing your prob was there, just be glad he won't be in the room at the time though! i'm never going to be a tiny person either, i've got CBH (child-bearing hips).
suzanne - i hate it when blokes comment on a girl's appearance! esp if it something that girl can't easily change (nose shape, hairy arms, moles, big legs etcetc) and double esp if the bloke saying it is short, fat and balding! men really think so much more of themselves and reckon they should be with model types. perhaps we should start acting like that! luckily BF is under the illusion that i am lacking in physical flaws. bless. if only he knew!!
julie - glad to hear you had a fab time at the wedding. fingers crossed on your man making an honest woman of you! i must remember that just cos the wine is free, doesn't mean i should attempt to drink my own body weight of it!
emily - did you hear about all the horror stories of uk hospitals removing babies' organs without informing the parents? and then there was a boat disaster where not only did they remove the victims' hands (for identification allegedly) but they did post-mortems (even though they knew they had all drowned) and took their organs too. yuck! sorry for that nasty bit of info there.
kay - how did WI go?
brenda - are you talking about cadbury's creme eggs or cadbury's mini eggs? if it is the mini eggs, ooh, i love 'em! 3 for a point. yum yum yum.
lori - i adore bread as well. i'm carbohydrate queen!! if you are eating out a lot, then try making zero-point soup for lunches or zero-point veggie curry, chillli and other things. stock up on veggies so you don't feel hungry and exercise to bank some points. and avoid booze cos that piles on the points... good luck! ooh, and decide if you want a starter or a sweet before your order. then stick to it. go for fruit rather than ice-cream/cake....
belle - i def get more cravings now!! but you can eat anything you want - you just have to be honest and write it down!!

hokey, i feel like i've written a novel. time for work before i hit the gym.

can't wait to hear everyone's news,
kirsty

hello lola!
best thing to do when you want to snack but you know you are not hungry is to do something active that keeps your mind off food. get up and go for a walk or brush your teeth, or if you must snack, have a low/zero point one. and don't start smoking - it's international no-smoking day today!!

Default argh - can't get to gym!

ok, why when i tell my boss first thing that i want to go to an exercise class at 12, does she then give me all this urgent work (at 11:45) that must be done by 2, knowing that i'll have to miss the gym in order to do it on time! and there are 3 other people she could ask to do that stuff and give me other stuff to do that's not so urgent. but no. so i have to miss the class i wanted to try (body conditioning) and just go to the gym proper and do some treadmill, weights etc. i suppose it doesn't really matter, but i just felt like having a little rant about it! i've done all the work now (it's 1pm) so once she gives me it back and i get the all clear to escape, i'm taking extra long at the gym! ha!

Default Good morning girls!

Hi everyone,

Well I sort of joined in your little group yesterday, and I'm trying to keep this up. I could really use any support I can get.

I started going to the gym again and am actually enjoying it this time around. I started going to this hip-hop dance class on Mondays and I must say I feel like a real moron because I'm not getting all the steps - btu I'm gonan keep it up because it's fun.

Lately I'm addicted to Subway sandwiches. At 5-7 points for a 6 inch (no cheese, no mayo) I can't go wrong.

I really want to loose 30 pounds by the end of July and I hope that's not too unrealistic. I'm in a wedding in August and want to look good.

Also, if anyone lives near a Trader Joe's (it's a gormet food market - but cheep), let me know. They have the most amazing low point foods there.

Again, I hope to get to know you all better.

Have a nice Wednesday.

Morning All!!!

It is snowing here I want it to be spring. Cool, there are a huge amount of new smilies That is neat! So Survivor is on tonight right? Hmmmm, I'll see if I can watch it tonight. My mom called me this morning to see if we have power since apparently there is a huge powerout near me, but alas I did indeed have power. It's funny how much mom's still worry about their adult children.

Lola: I have started applying Mental rehearsing in other places of my life, so perhaps visualize a stressful situation that you may encounter and then perhaps see how you will deal with it. Perhaps go for a run, writing a rant in a journal, calling a friend all these things can help. I used to be a stess and social smoker as well, but honestly, I find exercise much better (not quite as immediate, but overall it helps me feel better). Good Luck!

Kirsty: yes I know I was a bad girl (I like playing with smilies). Have fun at the gym!

Casey: Sorry, I forgot to write to you yesterday! You're doing well, so good luck to getting to your goal, I am still shocked by how much weight I have lost, it's almost a person. When are you going to Disney? I have never been

Take Care!

Lisa: a little known fact is that they calculate the points of a Steak and Cheese sub with the cheese, so they're only 7 points and they taste yummy I am a subway addict too

Take Care

Hello all! I decided not to go out last night and so saved myself and my points from temptation! Whoo hoo! But I don't want to be a hermit....

Thanks for the advice Kirsti-hope you got to go to the gym...and that you were able to use all of that aggravation at your boss!!!

How is everyone getting those cool smiles??

Lisa-I'm a subway addict too...especially when I am on long driving trips and need to stop for fast food...I'm also being motivated by being in a wedding, but mine's in May and everyone in it is tall and thin...I don't want everyone looking at the pictures afterwards and saying"oh, Lori, yeah, she was the fat bridesmaid!"

Lola: Being a doctor I have to beg you not to start smoking again and congratulate you for quitting!!! Kirsti's advice is exactly what I tell my patients...

Well, I'm off to work-bye everyone-wish me luck at WI tonight!

Default I Hit 20 # loss last night!

Good morning all! So WI was good and bad... I hit my 20#, but I only lost 0.4#. I did weigh in a day early because we start our company flag football league tonight.

Lola ~ Congrats on quitting smoking!!!! I have been a smoker since I was 15 (growing up around the theatre it was everywhere). I soooo want to quit, but I have failed at it many times. This WW thing gives me hope that if I can succeed at controlling the food, I can succeed at quitting. What did you do? I'm seeing my doc this Friday for my annual girlie check up and I want to get a prescription for the Zyban pill. I hope she can write the prescription for it (she's an OB/GYN). I want to be smoke free for a couple of years before me and DH have babies. Wish me luck!

Lisa ~ The Hip Hop class sounds like so much fun! I used to dance, but in the past few years I've been too embarassed to put on the leotard and leggings. I think I'm going to try to find a class in my area. I want to learn to dance like Brittney (j/k)! I wish there was a Traser Joes down here. We only have Whole Foods and it is way expensive. I've heard that some of the low point items from 'Joes can be ordered online. I'll look into it for you.

Kirsty ~ good going on passing the malteasers (not sure what they are, but I'm assuming some sort of malt ball candy). Hope you can make it to the gym. I finally made the committment to let my boss know that my health comes first and the job comes second. She has been helpful in scheduling since that.

I just recently re-discovered Subway. They have really improved their product. I still love Quiznos, though. I would open up a Quiznos store if I had the cash!

Brenda ~ I am also a carbo queen ~ French Fries are by BIGGEST weakness. Chocolate ranks up there too! Heck anything deep fried is good

Ali ~ In Texas its been nothing but rain! I am ready for spring also. The lake and the rivers are starting to call my name. I can't wait to go boating now that I look a little better in a swimsuit. You have done so well at losing weight! WOW a whole person!

Casey ~ Where in Arkansas are you located? I went to spring break up there a long time ago and stayed in the mountains. I think it was called fairfield. Very beautiful! You are also doing super on WW!

For all I haven't talked to today ~ Ya'll (I use that word a lot too) are such a great support. Everyone is really motivating me to jump through this plateau and succeed. Just wanted to say thanks!

Well I am off! I'll check in later. Did anyone else notice the # of views we have? We are getting famous!

Kay
164 (first time on WW)/162.4 (second time on WW) /142.4 (now)/135 (WW goal)/130 (my goal)

Default Happy Hump Day....

Well, I am going to WI at noon today instead of Saturday because I will be out of town. And I will miss next weeks WI. I am a little scared because I hate gaining and just weighed in last Saturday. If I don't go today, I won't be able to WI for 3 weeks and I couldn't let that happen! SO I am a little scared. If I am up, it will be understandable and maybe keep me on track while I am gone!

Speaking of being gone... I am bring some Breakfast Cookies with me as a tummy filler!! Hubby and Emma are going with me, so I know I won't be able to just sit around and snack! That is good! I still have a lot to get ready for my trip. I spent so much time meeting my deadline, I haven't started getting my other things ready. Oh, while I am gone, I will be doing a training session on our company's computer software.

Last night I didn't get in any exercise. We were on church cleaning duty, so we had to clean the bathrooms and dust and vaccum. I suppose I burned a little off with that. But I was also watching Emma, so I only half worked!

Ali... no cheese makes it 7 points??? AWESOME!!!!! Oh, and on Monday we were whopped with 6 inches of snow AGAIN! I am tired of the white stuff! They are predicted snow off and on all week for us! Blahhhhh...

Tilley... no TJ by us, but I have heard wonderful things about that store! I wish we had one! Even if one of the larger cities had one I would go! But no luck on that yet!!

Kirsty... sorryyou missed your workout! Sometimes bosses have no clue!!

Lola... Stress eating. I do it all the time... although I noticed I do it less than I used to. Well, actually, I eat less. Lately I have been trying to exercise instead of eating when I am stressed. When I am done with my workout, I really feel much better!! The hardest part is convincing yourself to not eat and to exercise instead!

Today I am wearing one of the notorius dresses that the nasty sales lady sold me! I look GREAT in it too. It is a size bigger than my pre-pregnancy weight, but I think it fits better today than it did 2 weeks ago when I bought it!! Yahhhhh...

Have a great day all!

Thanks for all the suggestions... nice to know people can relate!

Just to clarify: I will definitely NOT start smoking again, no worries in that department. I use the fact that I have quit as a reminder of the strength and focus that I have. I figure, if I can conquer smoking, then I can conquer eating too!

As for how I did it, I used a combination of Zyban and the patch. The most important thing I had going for me was that I was truly ready to stop smoking. The same goes with the weightloss. I was committed to losing.

Thanks again and more input always welcome!

Default Brunette's Unite!!

Good Morning! I was only 2 points over yesterday. No exercise yet, so to stay on the self challenge I need to get my butt moving for the next 3 days! I’m just proud of myself for doing a better job OP! I AM going to a meeting tonight and face the scale. I really want to get my leather jacket so I’m going to set a goal of losing 10 pounds by weigh in on April 17. That would be 2 pounds a week. I’m feeling the motivation this morning, I hope I can make it last. I did have a moment of weakness b/c some saboteur left Girl Scout Lemon Drops in the kitchen. I wrote them down! I have great salad fixings for my lunch today so that will help.

Lori: Maybe pick one time a week you can have what you want (within reason of course) and bank points or do the extreme meal thing. Then the other days you go out get a salad or grilled chicken or something you can do OP easily. Then you always know you have that one day to ‘splurge’. I’m a bread fanatic too. I could live on bread. I have grilled cheese for dinner last night and Orowheat potato bread. 2 points per slice *ouch* Boy was it good though.

Belle: What I wouldn’t give to lose certain cravings!!!

Kim: Your Florida trip sounds wonderful. Sorry your b/f can’t go. I have a feeling my job wouldn’t let me take time off even unpaid either. Aren’t employers a pain? Make sure you do get lots of R & R when you are there.

Lola: Carrots really help me when I need to munch and am not particularly hungry. Just a ½ cup or a cup works. I’m a bad WW and don’t count them even though a cup is a point now. I know, shame on me, but I wasn’t abusing the carrots and eating a huge bag every day. You could also do celery or pickles. I love pickles and the are 0 points and also satisfy the salt craving all in one shot. The other thing you can do is have low point snacks around and take your time eating them. Savor every bite.

Lisa: I think 30 pounds by July is a great goal! I’ve never seen a Trader Jo’s in Colorado, but now I’m really wishing we had one b/c I could use some low point snacks!

Ali: Thank you for mentioning Mental Rehearsing. I just realized I haven’t been using any of the Tools For Living to help me. I’m going to go back through them today and get re-focused. It’s ironic that they give us all these wonderful tools and we forget we have them.

Kay!!! 20#!! That’s wonderful Don’t knock that fact that you only lost .4. Any loss at all is reason to do cartwheels! I really wish we had some type of organized sport in my office. There’s this whole little political situation with the other half of the floor though. We are all part of the same big company, but there’s very much a separation. My little group isn’t real into participating in things anyway. Kind of gets frustrating. Enjoy the flag football! There’s a little bar/restaurant across the street from where I live that has the BEST food! Every so often I had to be bad and get their deep fried mushrooms and load them with ranch *cringe* I normally hate myself later b/c all that grease tears up my stomach. The instant gratification is worth it though

Jen: Glad the dress is such a smash on you! I think it’s great that your DH and DD get to go with you. Just make yourself a To Do list and check things off as you get them done. You’ll be ready! Good luck at WI and don’t sweat it no matter what the results.

I still don't know what a malteaser is! I also want to know where you are all finding the smilies now.

TxAggie,

Hi - I do love the hip-hop class although it was my second class and I still don't have the moves down so I look like somewhat of a dweeb.

We do have Trader Joe's up here.... I was just going to give anyone with a TJ's around them some food suggestions.

They have these No Pudge brownies and all you add is non-fat vanilla yogurt. They are only 2 points and taste SO GOOD.

Also they have these Cafe Crisps that taste like really fattening pastries and they are only 1 point a piece.

And my most favorite are their low fat bean and rice burritoes that are only 4 points and really filling. I couple with with 2 points worth of WOW's tostitos and salsa and have a really filling 6 point meal.

So that was for anyone in MA, CT, CA or any other place with a Trader Joe's.

Lola - I know stress eating. It's just getting up and walking to the vending machine that clams me down sometime... or just the break and slowing down work to eat. So now I still take that walk to the vending machine - but am justing getting a soda. Or walk to a friend's cube to chat for a few minutes. And if you still feel the need to eat... maybe pop some smart-pop popcorn or something tasty and filling but light. Good luck... I know what you'er going through all too well.

LoriD - I do that to sometimes. I want to meet people out more often, but these days I'm picking and chosing. I know if I go out - it's just added temptation and less sleep. But then it's also not hanging with friends and less chances to meet new people. So I don't turn down all invitations, but I definately think about whether or not it's worth it.

And to ALL:

Thanks for welcoming me in - and happy Wednesday!

and

I get the Buffalo Chicken Sub from Subway and I don't know how many points to count it. Should I count it the same as the roasted chicken? It seems as though the sandwich is just the roasted chicken cut up and they add buffalo sauce. The sauce doesn't seem heavy at all. But I don't know how to count it.

Thanks!
Lisa
