Hello everyone... I am new to this particular area of the WW section. I have been with WW for about 1.5 years and have lost almost 50 lbs. I lost almost all of it in the first 6 months and for the last year or so have been pretty much stuck in the same area... lose a few pounds, gain a few pounds, etc... - This wouldn't be so bad if I were close to or at goal, but I still have 50 lbs to lose, so it's getting beyond frustrating.

The only reason I can figure out for why I haven't been doing so well lately is that I must not be ready. Sounds kind of hokey, I know, because I've had this goal in my head for what seems like forever, but I just can't seem to get there. In fact, I seem to have this little mental roadblock set up around the 50 lbs lost mark... I did actually reach it one week in May with a total of 50.2 lost, but haven't been back since!!! Once I got near it I seemed to end up on some sort of permanent detour - meaning I'm sure I'll reach my goal eventually, but it's going to take me one **** of a long time if I keep going at this speed. When you're stuck in neutral, you don't get very far very fast.

I'm not quite sure what I need to do to get myself out of this rut, but I know that somewhere along the way I stopped being so careful and precise with measuring and recording, and now it's quite hard to get back to being so 'strict'. I know WW is a great program, but it's only as good as the person using it, and right now I am not using it to it's full potential.

Is there anyone else out there who's lost a lot but still has a lot to lose and is experiencing - or has experienced and has gotten past it to greater and slimmer things - the same thing???

Welcome Little engine! Congratulations on your wonderful loss, nearly fifty pounds, wow! You should be very proud of yourself. Re: being in a rut, maybe you're not; could be your body is just telling you that you need to pause for a while on your journey while it adjusts to the slimmer "you". I don't think you should be discouraged at all; this happens to many people when they lose a great deal of weight. In my case, the first fifty pounds or so came off pretty steadily, but it took me much longer to lose the last fifty. (I'm 101 pounds down from my highest wt, and have maintained it for 15 months now. I'm around my ww goal, but want to go a bit lower.) My advice would be to stay as close to program as you can and try not to think too much about the numbers on the scale. They will go down when you stay on program! And if you want to speed things up, try a little exercise, like a 30-minute walk every day, to boost your metabolism.

JOYce, kudos on the two more pounds off! You are such an inspiration!

Linda, thanks so much for the encouragement! I'm trying to stay away from the scale for a few days, stay op, and hope that the pound was water weight gain or something ...

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Ours was rainy again, but maybe it will clear up later this week.
Regards,
Jan

Little Engine, welcome to the 50+ group! I beleive that the advice Jan gave you was very valuable and sound. After you've been around for awhile, you'll appreciate her for being one of our "encouragers" and "cheerleaders," with lots of good ideas. Like the commercial, when Jan speaks, I listen!

Hello to Janet, Tonya, Carol and texaslady -- Lilithu, are you still with us? I hope you'll post again soon.

Make it a great Monday.
