50 or more week of Oct. 28
If you have 50 pounds or more to lose, this is the group for you. So jump on in and join; you'll be sure to get a warm welcome!
Happy Monday, everyone! Gotta run to my workshop. Let's hear from y'all! Jan |
Hey Janet, how are you doing?
My weekend was pretty uneventful. My husband and I took my 2 year old daughter to a Haloween party at her daycare. She had fun she looked so cute. I had a pretty good eating weekend. It wasn't perfect, but a lot better than normal. I did have about 6 Oreo cookies in the course of the day on Saturday. And the weird thing is I dont eat sweets, I gain weight from meat and fried foods, but I went to the grocery store and got the cookies for my step-sons and I had not had any in about 6 months and they were delicious. It is weird I am not craving fatty foods, but sweets. I worked out Saturday, Sunday and Today for 45 minutes and did 5 minutes of weights. I am so scaird to weigh myself on Wednesday, I want so bad to keep loosing. I have been OP except for Saturday I went over a bit. But I just want loose 25 pounds by Christmas. I have lost four right now I weigh 240. I would love to be in the 219 range by Christmas. Can anyone tell me how they charted their weight loss. Did you loose about 2 pounds a week. Did you ever loose more? Did you just follow your points and no exercise or how did you do it. Any help I get I definitely appreciate it. Have a good day. |
Hi Tonya! Doing fine, thanks!
The Halloween party sounds like fun; what was your daughter's costume? Sounds like you are staying on track with your exercise; you are so consistent with that! It will make a big difference, as your losses will be less muscle and more fat. Re: sweets, Halloween and the next two holidays are real challenges on that front, aren't they?! (Today at our workshop, they passed around huge bowls of Halloween candy. I had a mini tootsie roll, which was a real blast-from-the-past, but not too high point.) Re: charting, I always kept (still do) a paper graph, taped on the wall near the scale. I just make them on the computer. I also note special occasions, trips, etc. on the chart so I can look back and see how I handled that particular event. During the main part of my weight loss, I averaged about a pound a week. Some weeks I'd lose 3-5, some weeks none or a half pound. It all averages out, and what matters, I believe, is not how fast you reach goal, but how you are changing your lifestyle and habits in permanent ways. I found out it was dangerous to play mind games with myself, like "Oh, I stopped journalling and exercising and went way over points, but look, I lost weight! I'll keep it up and see what happens ..." Yeah, right! Well, had a pretty good day today. The workshop was interesting, and we got a copy of his book that I'll start tonight. For lunch, I had a plain turkey sandwich, and skipped the chips and dessert. I'm having veggies, hummus, lowfat crackers, and fruit for dinner tonight. Got in a half hour brisk walk this morning, around the parking lot. Hope everyone had a great Monday! Jan |
Jan, sounds like you are doing great! staying OP at the workshop had to be a real challenge, well, it would have been for me.
Tonya, our leader answered your question last week, while sometimes it is o.k. to lose more at a time, the average should be 1 pound a week. She said if it is consistently more than that , they would have to see what was going on. (She hinted at dis-memberment.) Hang in there. 25# would be too much to lose by Xmas using her WW guidelines, so don't be discouraged. Tomorrow is a little oral surgery. They didn't require sedation, but I chose it. :^: He is removing an extra spike of bone left from the bone graft. Kinda wimpy to go to sleep, Que sera`. Hi everybody! ttyl |
Omigosh, Jan - is this RAIN ever going to STOP!!!?? I am so sick of it. It's been about 10 days now since we have seen the sun - yuck. I feel like a duck. It just poured on me all the way home from work tonight - that plus the early darkness made for a terrific ride home - NOT! Guess you are home from your seminar by now. The weatherman promises this stuff will be over by tomorrow afternoon. It's about time. I don't know how people who live in rainy climates keep their spirits up - I guess that you just get used to it. Sounds like you did well staying OP while you were traveling - but I had no doubt that you would!
Tonya - You go, girl! You have got to keep going down that path and not lose sight that it took a long time to put on the weight and it will take a while to get it off. I was reading your posts and I wonder if you realize what a grand step forward it is that you know how many points you are comsuming daily. I would bet that before WW, you didn't have a clue. So even though you may go over your allotted 31 points, you are still much better off than when you weren't even counting points. Joyce - How are you feeling after your dental appointment - OK, I hope. I am with you - whenever someone offers to give me something to help with the pain, I raise my hand. Good going on getting your 5# star again. I am so pleased that you really stepped down this time. Many times in the past you have said you were going to let go of a lot of those functions, but you always stepped back in. I think you will be a little "lost" for a while but you will quickly find that you are enjoying your "time off" & able to spend time with your sister. Linda - You are so smart to go back to WW before the gain gets out of control. So I can see how your 5# loss is already evident in your clothes. How'd the remodeling going? It sounds like you are back on "both feet" again now. I told you that my cousin broke her ankle about the same time you did, but she is still experiencing a lot of swelling in that leg. Saw her last week and she still hobbles some. Glad you are getting some rain - want some of ours??? The yard people haven't come for over a week because of the rain - pretty soon they will have to bring a hay baler to get this stuff under control. Carol - I thought about you today as you started your new job. I hope it is everything you hope for & I know you are glad that the old one is behind you. Let us know how it is going. Janet - Wish you would check in. I worry about you. Lilithu - Where are you? Hope you are doing well and will come back to post again. Guess that I will go for now - I hear the rain just pouring down outside and the lightening is flashing. Don't want to lost my post if the power goes - |
Texaslady, I think I can speak for JOYce and tell you that we would love to have some of your rain! We were supposed to get some more this week, but so far all we have gotten is sort of a softly-falling drizzle which exited way too soon. I can understand why you are tired of sunless, wet days, though, that must get pretty old. But at least you are getting your lawn and garden watered gratis! :) Thanks for asking if I'm back on "both feet" now, yes I am, and feeling no pain! Initially my surgeon told me after the surgery was over that I probably wouldn't be walking unassisted until Christmastime, but I drop-kicked my walking boot as far away from myself as I could at the end of August (with the doctor's blessing, of course). It is such a joy to be able to just get up and start walking; I am so grateful for this speedy healing. My surgeon must have been one at the very top of his graduating class, I do believe. I am sorry to read that your cousin is still having so much swelling in her ankle, and I hope she will start feeling much better real soon. And our remodeling is coming just swimmingly--dh finished the ceiling last week (he took the flat cottage-cheese textured ceiling out and replaced it with slats of beadboard which meet in the middle of the room at a pitch) and the plastering, and tomorrow I get to help (!!!) when we begin painting the primer on the walls in anticipation of painting them the next day with regular paint. Today when we went to the paint store, we realized that we had never seen so many different shades of hunter green in our lives. Talk about being dazed and confused; we finally chose one, I just hope we don't both scream in unison upon seeing the first swipe of it on the wall. :yikes:
Jan, good for you, having only one Tootsie Roll and eating so sensibly while you were at the workshop. Girls, THIS is our example! Good for you, you are so consistent! Tonya, I agree with what JOYce said to you about not trying to lose too much too fast. When our leader told us that members can be "dis-membered" she was kidding about the literal meaning of the word, but WW does frown on people who start to consistently lose too much too fast; they won't let you stay on the program if you start losing too much. As JOYce said, an average of a pound a week is a safe and sane way to take it off. As you can probably guess, part of this way of eating is having patience with yourself, and with your rate of loss. ;) |
Thanks everyone, Linda and Joyce you are right. I just get so excited, I want this weight off so bad. I just need to focus on how much better I feel and how much better I look in my clothes. I have lost 4 pounds maybe I will try for a mini-goal of 15 pounds instead by Christmas. Maybe that is more realistic.
Janet you are so right about the points, I looked back one day on the times when I was not watching what I ate, I had about 80 points in one day. And it came from salad dressings, fried foods, and soda. I have come a long way and I just need to focus on that! Thanks for the encouragement ladies!! Have a great day! |
Well another 2 pounds gone I am down to 238. I am happy to be in the 30's again, now on to the twenties!
Tonya 244/238/160 |
CONGRATS!
Weigh to go Tonya!!:cb: here's a Happy Dance for the 30's!!
keep up the good work! Have a good day. |
Evening, girls. Well, my connection sure seems a bit "hinky" and unstable, but I wanted to jump in while I could and tell Tonya Congratulations on getting into another weight zone! Way to go! You should be very proud of yourself. I think striving for a mini-goal is a great idea. I did that a lot when I was actively losing weight - the overall goal was just too big to handle. I say "actively" because I still have quite a bit to lose but somehow lost my motivation after losing nearly 75 pounds. But one of these days I will get it all together again and get going back down the scales.
We finally got some sunshine - just the day after we had 8 inches on rain in just a few hours Monday night. Last 2 days have been gorgeous!!! But more rain is on its way for the week-end. But we will enjoy the sunshine while we can. Linda - how are the green walls? You know, the best thing about paint is if you don't like the color, you can PAINT OVER IT! Let me know how the color choice worked out. If you could see our local news and see all the flooding again from this past 10 days of rain, you would understand why I wouldn't at all mind sending some of it your way. Hi to Jan, Carol, Joyce & Janet. Gotta go before I lose this post. |
...and a very good shade of green it is!
I am clicking my heels together--after stressing over the shade of green dh and I had decided on, the walls were painted today and the green is just right. Texaslady, thanks for asking about it. Glad that you got your post on before you were cut off. And how nice that you have had a respite in all that rainfall!
Tonya, good for you, being in the 30's! A giant milestone. Keep up the good work. Isn't it exciting to have reached this mini goal, though! :) I lost 1.3 this past week -- slowly, but surely is my motto, I guess. I'm about 10 pounds from being back down to goal. I have noticed that it is easier to cross my legs since I've taken off about 6 pounds. |
Linda, congrats on your 1.3 loss! That's terrific, and not a slow rate at all, but just right. I'm glad the green color turned out so well; the room sounds just lovely, beadboard is so warm and elegant. Thanks for the encouragement re: being consistent. I just wish it would show up on the scale, though! After the Mon/Tues workshop, when I weighed Wed. morning, I was up a pound! That's over my ww limit, and I was hoping to do my Nov. WI this Saturday. And I thought I'd been so careful, walking each morning and staying within points. Sigh. Guess I'll have to get more strict with myself and try the lower end of points. Maybe I should walk twice a day. Dh and I are going walking this afternoon at a nearby walking trail, while this lovely weather lasts; that might help too.
Texaslady, isn't this weather gorgeous? Like you, the rain was getting me down. And y'all even had flooding; I watched it on the Houston news channels the two days I was in Huntsville, and was hoping you didn't have to drive through any of that. Whew. I don't know how people in rainy climates manage to stay cheerful. A day or so of rain can be relaxing, but this nonstop stuff gets on my nerves! Of course, we'll be in another drought sooner or later, so I shouldn't complain about it I guess. Tonya, congrats on your loss! You're doing so well! I think your revised goal for Christmas is a very sensible one; you go, girl! JOYce, I hope you are feeling better after your oral surgery? And is the cough improving too? Gotta run; kids incoming. Hope everyone has a great day! Regards, Jan |
Jan, that's the bunk that you were up a pound after your careful eating and regular exercise. I know you won't let it get you down, though; your positive attitude shines through all of your posts. Hang on and you'll get down to your personal goal, I know you can do it. The way you and Texaslady have been describing your weather makes me want to be in Texas, too! Have fun walking on the trail with dh.
Dh and I shared one of those Boboli-based pizzas last night, it was such a U-turn from how I usually eat. It had lots of pepperoni and cheese on it, yummy! So today I am back to being careful with my points. I think that I can do that periodically, as long as I get right back on my horse. It surely did taste good, what a treat! Happy Halloween to everyone -- watch out for ghosts and goblins tonight! |
A late WI this week. I lost 2 pounds! I have to keep an eye on my total losses, the weigher has made mistakes several times. this time they had shorted me a few pounds, so have it straight this time.
Lots of goblins last night! all sizes, some really cuties! about 100 all together. dgd flew in from OK yesterday to surprise her sister, and to party with her friends. She has about decided to join the USAF too. I guess living with her sis has showed her what a good life it provides. The last of the dgd's will join also, when she graduates in June! We're taking them to the teppan grill tonight with a friend each. I have already decided to have the shrimp or calamari since you get twice as much for the points. and white rice is better than fried. I'll do o.k. Is calamari a shellfish?? have to check that out. hmmmm 3 oz for 2 points! not bad at all! That is what I will have!! with lots of veggies of course yum!! I have to get busy on that wedding cake!! have a good weekend!! ttyl |
Woo, hoo, JOYce!
Your two pound loss today is just great, JOYce! I am so proud of you!!! That's the bunk that the weigher got it wrong before, and I'm glad that it is all straightened out now. Keep up the good work! Sounds as though your dinner plans are very well-planned; lots of veggies, white rice and calamari sound very points-friendly. Have fun tonight!
