Default ~night Owls #32~

It was time.

Don't forget to check out #31 so u don't miss anything.

Here's something a friend emailed me today. AMAZING HOW THESE PEOPLE GET ALONG IN THIS WORLD. I'm sure many of you will print this one out and take it to work.

THESE FOLKS ARE AMONG US !!!!!

HOW DO THESE PEOPLE SURVIVE?

Recently, when I went to McDonald's I saw on the menu that you could have an order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets. I asked for a half dozen nuggets.
"We don't have half dozen nuggets," said the teenager at the counter.
"You don't?" I replied.
"We only have six, nine, or twelve," was the reply.
"So I can't order a half-dozen nuggets, but I can order six?"
"That's right."
So I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The paragraph above doesn't amaze me because of what happened a couple of months ago. I was checking out at the local Foodland with just a few items and the lady behind me put her things on the belt close to mine. I picked up one of those "Dividers" that they keep by the cash register and placed
it between our things so they wouldn't get mixed. After the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the "Divider" looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it. Not finding
the bar code she said to me "Do you know how much this is?" and I said to her "I've changed my mind, I don't think I'll buy that today." She said "OK" and I paid her for the things and left. She had no clue to what had just happened.....
MAKES YOU WONDER HOW THESE PEOPLE CAN SURVIVE!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A lady at work was seen putting a credit card into her floppy drive and pulling it out very quickly. When inquired as to what she was doing, she said she was shopping on the Internet and they kept asking for a credit card number, so she was using the ATM "thingy".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I recently saw a distraught young lady weeping beside her car. Do you need some help?" I asked.
She replied, "I knew I should have replaced the battery
to this remote door unlocker. Now I can't get into my car.
Do you think they (pointing to a distant convenient store)
would have a battery to fit this?" "Hmmm, I dunno.
Do you have an alarm too?" I asked. "No, just this remote thingy," she answered, handing it and the car keys to me.
As I took the key and manually unlocked the door, I replied, "Why don't you drive over there and check about the batteries. It's a long walk."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Several years ago, we had an Intern who was none too swift. One day she was typing and turned to a secretary and said, "I'm almost out of typing paper. What do I do?"
"Just use copier machine paper," the secretary told her. With that, the intern took her last remaining blank piece of paper, put it on the photocopier and proceeded to make five "blank" copies.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was in a car dealership a while ago, when a large motor home was towed into the garage. The front of the veh! icle was in dire need of repair and the whole thing generally looked like an extra in Twister." I asked the manager what had happened. He told me that the driver had set the "cruise control" and then went in the back to make a sandwich.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IDIOTS AT WORK...
Sign in a gas station: Coke -- 49 cents. Two for a dollar.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
IDIOTS & COMPUTERS... My neighbor works in the operations department in the central office of a large bank. Employees in the field call him when they have problems with their computers. One night he got a call from a woman in one of the branch banks who had this question: "I've got smoke coming from the back of my terminal. Do you guys have a fire downtown?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IDIOTS ARE EASY TO PLEASE: I was sitting in my science class, when the teacher commented that the next day would be the shortest day of the year.
My lab partner became visibly excited, cheering and clapping. I
explained to her that the amount of daylight changes, not the actual amount of time.
Needless to say, she was very disappointed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Police in Radnor, Pennsylvania, interrogated a suspect by placing a metal colander on his head and connecting it with wires to a photocopy machine.
The message "He's lying" was placed in the copier, and police pressed the copy button each time they thought the suspect wasn't telling the truth.
Believing the "lie detector" was working, the suspect confessed.
Hey Owls!!
I am beat tonight...worked from 7am- 9:30 pm.....not a good day. Part of the reason I was at work so late was that my Uncle lives in the Convalescent Center where I work and he has been declining lately. He has end stage of Alzheimers. Todaywas really bad as he could not swallow or eat. I am not sure but I think he may have pneumonia. They did a portable x-ray tonight so we should know something early in the am...the nurses tonight will already know...I may call them when I get off here. I just had to stay with hm for awhile and his wife came and I hated to leave her...she is still not fully recovered from a broken hip she sustained the day before Thanksgiving. They are both loving Christian people and I hate to see any of them suffer.
I also ended up doing some stuff to get ready for tomorrow's inspection......they paln to leave tomorrow!! YEAH!!! I hate to confess but I have done alot of emotional eating today...But I did realize that I was doing it ...I just didn't care... today. I will dust off and start anew tomorrow....
I got the Cinnamon Bran Muffins off the recipe site here......I have tried to "quote " it so here goes:
1/4 - 1/3 c. applebutter
2 egg whites or 1/4 c egg substitute
1/4 c. golden raisens or 1/3 c. dried cranberries
Heat oven 350 degrees Spray 12 muffin cups with veg. spray
Combine cereal and milk. Soak for 15 minutes
Combine flour, sugar, b. powder, raisens, cinnamon in a large bowl. Mix well
Add 2 egg whites to a measuring cup. Add enough applebutter to make 1/2 cup. whisk together and add to cereal after it has soaked 15 min
Add cereal mixture to flour and stir just until dry mixture is moistened. Divide in 12 muffin cups and bake 20 - 25 min.
Cool 5 min before removing from pan.
Notes: I store the muffins in a zip lock bag and warm two for breakfast in microwave on medium (50%) power for 1 minute. They freeze well. You can use Splenda in place of the sugar successfully. I still count the muffins under the 123 Success plan as 1 1/2 pts each. This is my morning breakfast everyday.
They are quite good....I didn't have applebutter so I used aplesauce with just a little extra granulated sugar substitute...couldn't tell....
Gonna head off to bed....Sorry not to reply to everyone but I am just too tired and unable to think clearly...
Good Morning - It's finally drying up here in Fla. Been getting heavy showers....then nothing....then drizzles and now the sun is out and shining and it's going to be in the 70's today. I've already been to the barn so that's done and now I'm going to take all of the window treatments down in the house. I'll need them for the new house and this house has vertical blinds throughout. If they don't see the house WITH the treatments.....they wont want them.
Michele - Way to go on those SEVEN POUNDS !!!!!! You have GOT to be feeling like you're on cloud nine right now. Nice going.
Candice - Who's the cutie-pa-tootie ???!!! You look great by the way.
The kids have the next 5 days off starting today! AAAHHHHH!!!!!! I'll let you know if I survive or not.
Have a great day !
Good monring everyone!
Sorry I haven't been posting much. Andrew has been so sick and I have been fighting it still! We ended up taking him back to the doctors wednesday night. He now has a double ear infection. He is on antibiotics now and doing much better!
We went to dinner last night with John's dad. I didn't too bad! Except for the bread...that is my weakness! I had a broth based soup and I ordered the broiled flounder with veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. I also sampled some of John's fried calamari! This morning I am trying to curb my points! I had coffee with creamer (1pt), water (o pts) and I just ate my 4 point lunch because I was so hungry. I will have tea and water for the rest of the day till dinner.
I have to do some grocery shopping tonight because John's dad is with us and I hear we are suppose to have 6-8 inches of snow tomorrow. That means the stores will be crazy!
Well I better get back to work. We are moving downstairs and I still have to pack up my desk and stuff. I will be moved down on Monday morning! I'll catch up to you all later! Have a great day! Michelle
Anyone know..it is the regular Swiss Miss from my before WW days! Jeeze..louieez that was a 5 pt snack..but i was down 1.5 today after a 1lb gain last week so I am fine and have the points to spare.
Thank you for letting me know that a new thread has started Guess I havn't been following this in the right way.
Candice- I will be 44 soon but I think why I can eat those points is because I'm very active. Not only with exercise but also just plain busy. It took me a long time to see how many points I could take in to maintain my weight.
I don't have my notes with me right now, but when I come back I will post some of those myths that we talked about in the WW meeting this week. Some of them were common sense but some of them the members were shocked about.
PJ- nice picture of your son, very handsome
Hope you all have a great day. I'm off to work at my friends flower shop, I love working there.
Hi and happy Sunday to everyone.
Hope that you are all enjoying the weekend. Mine has been busy but I sure have gotten alot done.
Here are some of the myths that we talked about this past week in the meeting room.
1. No matter how hard I try, I can't lose weight. I must have a sluggish metabloism. TRUTH: Some people do have metabloic abnormalities which can be confirmed by a physician. However, for all but a few, a faulty metabloism is not the cause of being overweight. consuming too many calories and not spending enough of them on physical activity are the main causes of overweight.
2. If I stay on my diet, I'll lose weight every week. TRUTH: Almost everyone hits a plateau now and again. If you think you must lose weight every week, you'll occasionally have to deal with frustration and discouragement and those negative feelings could cause you to give up. Diet is not the only influence on weight loss or gain. Activity, lifestyle, age, heredity and medication can affect weight too. Hitting a plateau is a common occurrence. Being aware that it may happen can reduce the disappointment and frustration.
Ok, that is only two of the myths/truths I will add more tomorrow.
Have a great day, I'm hoping that the Packers win today because the Bears lost yesterday.
Thanks for posting those Julie and I knew about them both, I also heard that old story abut getting older and your metabloism slowing down and they say it is loss of muscle (cause that burns more caloires) that is the culprit!
I know my meds cause me to gain, that is why I cut them back! Don't know what I will do if I a have to up them again!
Hello and Happy Monday!
I hope you all had a great weekend. Now we start the begining of the work week. I will be working at my friends flower shop this morning and then heading out to see if I can start a new WW meeting in Oconto Falls tonight.
Here is another myth/truth: Starchy foods are fattening, so it's good to avoid them.
truth: It's not the starchy foods that make you overweight but overall calories. Eating more calories than you expend is what makes you gain weight.
What are your thoughts on yo-yo dieting? It is really dangerous to your health than remaining overweight?
I should get some exercise in before I leave for work.....have a good one.
Julie..I have always been told that yo yoing is bad for your heart, but then again so is being very overweight so If you are at a healthy weight don't sweat the small stuff! I had some health issues and wanted to feel better but I have been up and down with crash diets before when I thought I was fat but I wasn't really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't the starches increase the fat around your middle like the stress harmones or is that an old myth too??????????
I have been having terrible cravings, usally I want healthy stuff so it is not a problem but lately I want anything and everything, I have never deprived myself while on WW and still eating within my points but just what yould happen if I would go way over one day...I am 4 under goal...so would it be such a bad thing?????????I see that Pizza Hut is running special..the second pizza for .99 That means I can eat two!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, hello and happy Hump Day (you know the middle of the week
Well most of our snow is gone, what a winter we are having! How about the rest of you, got any snow?
Candice: I'm not sure about the starchy foods increasing the fat in the belly area but to much of a good thing could cause that. Are you a big carbo eater? I'm addicted to it and really have to watch my point intake with that stuff. Now going over in points in one day won't hurt you but if done to often.....well we know that the weight will come on. Actually, now that I'm a lifetimer (I have been doing this since 1993 and it hasn't hurt me at all) I don't journal on Thurs. That is the day we all go out to eat after the noon meeting. I know that I go over in points on Thurs. but get right back watching my points on Friday. I actually think that if a person can do this and not get back into any bad habits it is perfectly ok. Keeps us from craving I think.
Now as for Pizza hut having a special eat only one!
Hope you all have a wonderful day, keep you all in my thoughts. I'm off to do 2 WW meetings, I just love this job!
Hi ladies!
I am still around - been fighting that darn sinus infection - and I finished my meds on Friday. I still didn't feel 100% - but figured I would with time. Well as of last nite my bad headache is BACK!! I am thinking this infection is not totally gone and need to call my doctor back. These headaches are killers - YUCK!!! <sigh>
I have to run - I just wanted to say HI. I am very busy today here at work and need to call the doctor.
I will be back soon!!
