Sherri -- Congratulations on the 1.4 pound loss! Well, done. 14.4 more in 10 weeks? Hmmm! I'd be willing to bet my weekly serving of chocolate that you can do it! Keep up the good work.
I've been using the leaders suggestion this week about using higher point foods (rather than no-/low-fat) so I could use at least my minimum points. Now I'm having to watch what I eat because I easily hit my max! I'm going to have to work on this to find some type of middle ground. I don't want to be eating my max every day. Any suggestions?
Joanne, it's things like that that make the journey interesting. Learning what types of foods work best for you, both weight loss wise and satisfaction wise. It's good to play around with the points and nice you have a leader that is helping you so much. As far as suggestions go, find a mix that you like. For example, I could care less if I use FF mayo or the real thing, so I use FF. However, for dressing I love making my own using a variety of oils. Some days I want to use Walnut oil, others extra virgin olive oil, etc. My balsamic vinegrette has 3 points and I love every bit. The same goes for chocolate, it must be French or it doesn't pass these lips. No light fake stuff for me on that front. But bread can be lite. So I guess just find your mix of "real" and "fake" foods.
Sheri, what a great goal to be going for. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed. I don't know what your weekly average is, but it seems to me you should be able to make it!! And so close to virgin fat territory - I'm still another 55.3 pounds away !
I got to buy a size smaller jean today - went from a 24W to a 22W. Can't wait to see how that affects my WI on Monday. I've always worn the same outfit each Monday so that I can't lie to myself about that part at least .
I remember some of you from when I used to post a couple of years ago. Cynthia, Setina and Max - glad to see you. Max, what do your numbers mean? Setina - how are you doing? Cynthia - love your site! You're very talented.
Well, I manged to put all my weight back on, plus. Don't ask me why, but I just went back to my old habits - stopped exercising, started eating. It's amazing how fast I put it on, though. In March of 1999, my low was 231. I started gaining and that summer, I joined WW again and reached a low of 241. We moved, I gained, and in October I joined a gym weighing 264 and that's when I really started to put it on! I did go to the gym for a several months, but continued to eat. I tried doing WW on my own last fall and I joined eDiets in January, but didn't get on the scale. I know I didn't lose any weight though. I think it helped me to become more aware that this was really a problem and I had to take definite action. WW meetings worked for me in the past, so I'm doing them again. That scale was a shocker last week, though! I stayed OP all week and lost 9.5 this week, so I'm happy. I know a lot of it is water, but I'm not carrying it around. It's great to be back!
Have a great week, everyone!
Kimmers
332/322.5/299 (10% goal)
Hey Kimmers - I remember you. Sorry you are struggling like the rest of us. I, too, gained back everything. Thanks for checking out the web site. And congrats on such a great loss, it certainly sounds like you are back on track.
I went to my meeting a day early this week because tomorrow is just too busy. My leader does Sunday mornings as well so that was nice. I lost another 4.4 lbs. for a total of 14 lbs.! More than halfway towards that darn keychain. I'm hoping to see the 250s next WI, but of course I realize I'm getting greedy. Just got to stay OP and take what comes my way.
The sun is out and it's a beautiful day. DH and I are gonna walk to the bookstore (takes about 30 minutes one way) and just hang out together. Hope no one plays too many April Fool's jokes on you guys .
Miss you guys. I fell at the mailboxes at my apartment and hurt my knee pretty bad...it hit right on the side of the concrete step so I have a line down the middle of my left knee..the right knee and my right palm hit the ground so I am not feeling so hot right now...then, I get up to get water last night and ran into the vaccuum cleaner...I think I need a padded cell
Hope to be back soon!!!!
WW Queen (I just love that handle ) -- Thanks for the encouragement. I really like our leader -- she is very helpful and not a bit "know-it-all" like some leader we've had in the past.
Kimmers -- I can totally empathize with you. I restarted WW at my all-time high of 271.2! Another 4.8 pounds and I won't be able to use my scale at home. Mantra of the day: "You can do it! You are worth it!"
Setina -- I'm so sorry to hear of your injury. How are you feeling today? Did you see a doctor? Not to scare you, but knee injuries can be very tricky. When my sister was 14 she fell while ice skating. Her knee barely swelled up so my parent's just used an ice pack and elevated it. Spring came early that year and she seemed fine. When winter set in again, she woke up to a balloon for a knee cap and screaming in pain. Turned out she had had a hair-line fracture on her knee cap and daily activitiies combined with the cold, damp weather cause the injury to flare up. She's had problems ever since -- it even kept her from her dream of joining the Marines. They are now talking about a plastic knee cap (she's only 35). I really hope you saw a doctor for your knee.
Jen and I weighed in on Saturday. One pound loss each! Feeling pumped!!
Joanne-Thanks for the info...I never could get into see my med doc but I do have a physical coming up and I think I am going to ask for an xray or something to make sure it's ok. Better safe than sorry right?
Hi Kimmers! I remember you girl! A lot of us are in the same boat..glad you are back on board.
Hi to Max, Mare
Sheri-My review is over and it was wonderful! It was worth all the hard work. I love racing too!
I had a pretty good day finally. My knee is still black/blue but I am hanging in there. I think the scales are moving and I am going to start water aerobics this week I hope. I wanted to do something fun. I got my nails and hair done and started back to the tanning bed and everynight has been a bubble bath night it has been wonderful...DONT FORGET TO TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELVES! YOU ARE WORTH IT!
Has been a very busy week with meetings and school functions. Won't be making it to weigh-in tonight because my children have a chorus concert at school. It's OK though, cuz TOM is visiting and I feel pretty bloated. Kept up the exercise this week, but the PMS monster has not helped my eating.
We have so much snow here, it is depressing. At least with daylight savings, it is staying light later and that helps. My kids are so bummed, because their softball/baseball season should be starting and they are still practicing indoors. The best part is that the kids can still ride the snowmobile!!
The regular exercise is finally paying off. The "hungries" and craving level has substantially subsided and I'm not going to bed dreaming about breakfast anymore . I've got a hockey game to go to tonight so I've got to get a little more exercise in than usual so I can have me some beers!!
Setina, oh you poor baby . Have you ever seen Broadcast News. I'm thinking of the part where that poor woman runs into the water fountain with her knee. Now I'll put your face on hers next time I watch it . I love your quote at the end of your post, and glad your review is finally over. So what is your new name going to be - Pampered Princess??
Joanne, you two are doing just AWESOME, tell Jen I said congrats and give her a high five for me. I had a friend who did WW when we were in 7th grade back in the early '70s. She had a tough time because the program was much more difficult then and it was obvious she was having to eat differently. I remember people used to call her Baby Elephant. However, she stuck with it and before I moved she had lost all the weight and had a great boyfriend to boot.
Sheri, guess I won't complain about our cloudy weather then. At least I could walk in the park this morning needing only a light coat. I did get to watch a guy stumble to a tree and proceed to pass out. I do live in a colorful part of town - the main lounge drag is about 3 blocks away. Yet 1/2 a block in the other direction are million dollar homes. I guess that's why I love living in the city - so darn diverse!!!
Good evening, Ladies & Max. Hope this note finds you all well and content.
Sherri -- I live in Rochester, NH, and know exactly what you mean about the late start to spring training. Jen was thinking about signing up for girls soccer but I don't know when they'll be able to practice (let alone play) outside. At least (most) of the sidewalks are clear enough to take the kids and the dog out for a walk after work.
"WW Queen" -- Jen said to tell you "Thank you." for the congratulations and praise. You made her day!
Can't stay and chat tonight folks. It's time for bed. Man! It seems like just yesterday that I was working a 45-50 hour a week job, a 15-20 hour a week job, and going to college two nights a week. Lately it seems if I stay up past 10:00 PM, I am worthless in the morning.
Hey, Gang! What's up? I posted on Thursday night and haven't heard a word from anyone else since then. I keep checking? Did you all go on vacation and forget to mention that? Did someone detonate "the big one" and it effected every where but Rochester, NH? Or are you all taking advantage of the spring weather and don't feel like logging on?
Jen & I weighed in on Saturday. I'm down another 1.2 (total 4.4 in 3 weeks ). Jen didn't do as well. She gained 2 pounds. But she was pretty realistic about it (not hissy fits). She admitted to not following program all week, avoiding activity, and eating way too many high-salt foods on Friday. She's recommitted to herself this week so next Saturday should be an improvement.
Gotta go. I'm at work and they frown upon personal use of the computer.
Wow, it is silent in there lately. Hope everyone is healthy and doing well.
I had a great WI - a loss of 4.8 lbs. and got my 15-lb. star today. That brings the total to 18.8 lbs. and into a new decade. I'm so excited and still going strong. I'm going to celebrate by breaking out one of my Spin tapes. DH finally hooked up the VCR to the attic room while I was in Alb. visiting some family. I stayed OP during the visit and it was more than worth it
Joanne- congrats on the loss again. Good for Jen not being too hard on herself and realizing what she's going to have to do.
I checked in this weekend, but there were not any new posts and I did not have much to say. Has been an OK weekend. Not the best, with Chinese on Friday night, but I have exercised. I am also trying to work on my tummy. I bought some pants one size down on Saturday and they fit good in the legs but are tight in the middle. I guess that is because I mainly only walk for exercise. Time to shrink the tummy!!
Cynthia - Congrats on your loss!!! You are doing super and even with being away.
Joanne - Congrats on your loss too and glad to hear Jen wasn't too hard on herself. My daughter is pretty frustrated right now, but wants to continue to go. I think it hit her this weekend, when we bought the same brand of jeans and mine were only one size larger (and a bit tight too) than hers. Of course, she wears the flare-legged things, so when we both shrink I won't be able to wear her old clothes. I just can't get used to those flair legs!!! I wear jeans to work, but still have to get my regular cut ones. My daughter definately has my genes. She is carrying her weight in the same places I do. The Butt and Thighs. Poor girl, her brother is skin and bones!!
Setina, Kimmers, Mare & Max - How are things going with you?
Well, hubby is out playing catch with the kids. Funny sight seeings how we still have several feet of snow surrounding our house. They are really itching for baseball/softball season to start.
Talk to you all soon. Keeping my fingers crossed for at least a maintain on Wedesday.
I had an unexpected project come up...worked over 20 hours on Saturday/Sunday and I am exhausted. I am hoping this is coming to an end soon. I told my boss after this project gets out if my workload did not decrease we had to talk. I already have almost 40 hours of overtime coming up on this weeks check.
I have lost a total of 12 pounds now I am going to measure this weekend.
Cyn-Congrats on the great loss! I don't think I saw Broadcase News but sounds like me LOL
Sheri-Snow still..wow we are 80's and running the air..bad thing though we are covered in pollen and everything is yellow!
Joanne-Congrats on the loss and tell Jen we are still proud of her and to hang in there.
My WW is closed next week because of the holiday. That is why I decided to measure then so I would still see the loss of something and stay motivated and I can tell I have lost some inches.
Well, as tired as I am, I did run by the tanning bed and had my nails and eyebrows done and now I am off for a bubble bath.
Sheri, It's so hard NOT to overdo with Chinese. Make sure to drink TONS of water and I'll have my fingers and toes crossed for you as well.
Setina, you are just melting away there woman. And as busy as you are, at least you are taking time for yourself. With the overtime maybe you can go on a trip some time soon.
And speaking of trips, DH and I plan to go to Hawaii over the Thanksgiving holidays. We have 6 nights free coming to us at a great Hilton resort (spa, private lagoon, etc) and we are finally going to do it. It makes me feel great because it shows what confidence he has in me that I am going to stay OP this time. And the pressure as well of course. But I've got to hit the weights since I only have 7 months to get this body somewhat toned looking.
