This thread is for anyone who wants to join in--Lifers, soon-to-be Lifers, those at goal, those struggling to get back to goal--feel free to join us.
  • Melissa, How was your Thanksgiving? I had a good time. Saw my brother and his wife who were visiting from Virginia. I just love his wife; we get along so well. Not sure you remember, but they just got married in June. We went shopping on Black Friday. That was fun. I'm done with my shopping, so there was no pressure, but I enjoyed helping her and my sister with their shopping.

I did pretty well food-wise, didn't overdo it. I'm going to WI today, so keep your fingers crossed. How was your Turkey Day?
  • Lisa, my Thanksgiving was nice. My brother, aunt & uncle, sister-in-law, Mom, DH and DS #2 had a nice dinner. I did the cooking and it was very relaxed. I did not go out on Black Friday--stayed as far away as I could from the stores. I have my Christmas list, just need to get out and do some shopping. I'm glad you and your sister-in-law had fun shopping.

I went for my WI yesterday and was up just a tiny bit (.2) and I'm okay with that. I did some extra snacking the days following Thanksgiving. I'm really working at staying on track.
  • Hey There
I am a lifetime member who has slipped a little. When I returned after a few years to find things have changed a little they set my goal a little lower. Now I have 9 lbs to the new goal. I found I needed the support to help keep me on the right tract.
I am glad to find your group. If this is not the right group for me ,please guide me..
    Joanne
  • Melissa, I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. Forgot to tell you about WI--I was up 1.2#, not too bad after T-day. Over the weekend, I walked a 5K, but it was rainy and messy. Yuck. We did get our tree and decorations up. Gifts are wrapped. I just need to bake--a little behind in that area.

I don't know what it is this year, but DH and I have so many Christmas party invitations. I like parties; DH is OK with them. They're usually a lot of fun.

Joanne, You are definitely welcome here. I'm sorry to hear your goal is so different. I wonder why it changed? We all struggle here to stay under our goal. For me, post-menopause has been a real challenge. Hang in there--you can do it.
  • Hey There
Hello- Thank you . Getting to goal is not always the struggle. Staying there is.. I am long past post menopause.I am 76 . That too can be be difficult for some people..
I will get to a goal I want to be.. I walk 5 miles every day. I do it in two sessions. My walking buddy is my pug Christie.. I do it for her weight as well as mine. Pugs get fat really easy. She is a little begger and my hubby gives in to her too often.
I haven't done any Christmas shopping yet. I hope to this week.. Pray for me. The stores here in Florida are as crowded as they are everywhere else..At the moment that is not a easy to do.
My weigh in is monday. ..Joanne
  • Joanne, Good for you for walking 5 miles a day--that's terrific. I'm lucky if I get 2 miles in a day, but I walk 6 days a week. I'm also active otherwise at work, etc. Aww, I like pugs. You're right, they can put on the weight pretty quickly. I'm rooting for you for a good WI and also for good shopping.
  • Joanne Welcome to our group! When you mentioned that "they changed your goal a little lower" is it because the range for your height/weight changed or is it that your center changed your goal? I know there are some places that are independently run and not part of Weight Watchers International. It's great that you get out and walk with your pug each day. We have a Jack Russell who loves to go outside and run. I haven't taken him on many walks. BTW, I'm 47, LT member since 1999 and work part-time for WW here. I also work full time at a local university and love it.

Lisa: Not bad for Thanksgiving...it's a tough time of year with all the holiday get togethers. We had ours here at work and the food wasn't anything I had to worry about...in fact most of it was stuff I don't like to suffice to say I had very little. This Friday is DH's party and that's always fun--they cook stuff up that they sell from their business in the test kitchens and it's fun. I have to watch because there are things that I could overeat on without any problem!

DH and I are going out tonight to do some shopping, I have my list and know what I need to get. Joanne, our shopping centers here are crazy because we don't have sales tax on clothing so we get a lot of people from New York, Ohio and Canada coming in to shop. I steer clear of the mall area, which we affectionately call, "Peach Jam" this time of year.

I haven't done that great with my eating lately--stress, emotions are really wreaking havoc with my good intentions. I'm working on focusing on what needs to be done rather than dwelling on things I can't change. Tomorrow is my meeting so we'll see how things go.
  • Hi! We're waiting for a snowstorm to hit us--right now the sun is shining...almost like the calm before the storm. I'm hoping the weather gets pushed to Buffalo and doesn't hit us like they're predicting. My GF is enroute from FL to here so she'll be in for a rude change in weather!

I really went back and forth as to whether or not to go to my meeting yesterday and WI...I went and stayed the same which is good for this time of year. This week is crazy with parties, etc. I'm going to try and stay focused and hopefully get a little more activity in.
  • Hey There
Melissa-It was good that you stayed for meeting. I think when we start skipping meetings is when we start to slip.. I hope to at least stay the same this next monday..
For the next two weeks there is a lot going on. Church luncheon, Hubby's birthday,Christmas party at daughters for G/children, Christmas, 56th wedding anniversary, and sisters Christmas gathering. If I survive those It will be good.Pray for me!We like to stay quiet homebodies, but, can't skip these.I will give a sigh of relief when the 29th gets here.
    Joanne
  • Joanne: Boy do I hear you on getting through the next couple of weeks! I don't usually skip meetings but the thought really crossed my mind. I'm glad I went. My DH's party for this evening was canceled due to the weather so I'm clear for tonight.

We don't have as much going on which is nice--Saturday my GF and I are going to a Victorian tea at the museum and it's decorated with the theme "Songs of the Season" so I'm sure they'll have some form of entertainment. Sunday I work at WW in the morning and then in the afternoon I need to do a little baking. Monday we have a cookie exchange/lunch, Tuesday spend time with GF before I take her to the airport.

Last night was terrible for driving--you couldn't see more than a half a block! This morning we had quite of bit of snow and they're calling for more. The only good thing is that I got some extra activity points in with snow shoveling
  • Hello
Mallissa- You are talking to a Florida girl who has seen snow only 3 times in her life.. And I am 76.. It is cool here tonight. 56% ..that is cold to me.The weather man said it will be 80 by Sunday. Then in a couple days it will get cold again..
I am afraid I am going to have a gain this next meeting. Although I have been good with my eating and exercise. I may be holding fluid. I have that problem from time to time.Oh well that is why I am back in WW. I am only ten pounds to the goal they set for me.. I think that these are the hardest times..
Like I said,I will be glad when December 30 gets here. I have commitments till then. The hubby and I will be in bed by 8pm on New Years Eve . I will probably have the T V on till midnight. He will say "wake me up at midnight".
    Hello Everybody...Joanne
  • Yes, ladies, parties are in full swing and I've been eating everything. Ugh. I do enjoy seeing people though and seeing all the pretty decorations.

Let's hope we all stay the same.

Melissa, Your weather sounds awful. Ours has been up and down--chilly, the hot. We had fog yesterday and you couldn't 2 feet in front of you. Weird stuff.

Joanne, I live in Florida, too, but I'm a transplant and I don't miss snow and winter weather at all.
  • This board is quiet. Ladies, I've pretty much finished up my baking. Now the parties start. Believe it or not, I have a party Thursday, Friday, Saturday (2), and Sunday! I will try very hard to eat the veggies, but I know that the cheese, crackers, and meatballs will be calling my name! I'm keeping up my exercising though, so that should help some.

    How are you doing?
  • Hey There
Domina- Where do you live in Florida. I am on the West Central Gulf coast..One mile from the Gulf..
I have decided to skip WW meetings for awhile.. I just plan to apply the eating plan as much as possible.. It has become to much for me with the holidays and taking care of my hubby ,dog and home..
I have been doing this for so many years that I should know something by now.
    Have a Merry Christmas..Joanne
