  • I have asthma also. I take Singulair for it and have been for years. Keeps it controlled and I haven't had an ER visit since I've been on it~ I know attacks are so scary. Not being able to breathe is the worst feeling. Take care of it.
Well I've managed to not work out still! But I am really keeping to the ww plan, and its actually working! My next goal is to get my butt in gear and walk on that treadmill in my garage. But its too cold out there! No excuse, I could just do an exercise DVD!
Everyone in Houston is on a frenzy cause the weather is so cold here. We may have some sleet! OOOOH!
Course us southern folk have no idea how to act in such cold weather!
Well can't wait for Friday again! Funny, I never knew how exciting it would be to weigh myself. Course i feel my t.o.m is near and that might make for some water retention! sigh!

  • RF -- you might want to check out the form "Dieting with Obstacles" here at 3FC. You can probably find out lots of info. there and get your questions answered. Good luck!

Dusty, I didn't realize that there were walking dvds. I must live in a cave or something. I kept seeing WATP on different threads and just found out it stands for Walk Away the Pounds (I thought it meant Walk And Tone Program ). Anyway, I just use the treadmill and watch tv. We have a little 13" that belonged to my SIL (she passed away two years ago ) and we ended up w/the tv. I made my husband build a small shelf in the back (unfinished) part of the basement. The total gym, a very old nordic track (I can't use it, it bothers my lower back) and the treadmill are down there. Off limits to kids!! I just ordered an ipod nano and plan on having tons of music to walk to w/in the next few weeks. TV is ok but the TM is loud so I have to turn the volume up loud. Besides, there isn't much on tv to watch most of the time.

Anyone do any strength training? I notice that the day after I do any type of strength training (total gym, firm tapes, free weights) the scale seems to go up a lb. or two. Maybe just the muscles retaining water or something? As long as it goes back down, right?

I just got done a lovely 3 miles on the TM. When my shins aren't achey I have a much better workout. Have a cold and just want to veg out but made myself get on there b/4 my youngest had to leave for school. Now it's done and out of the way!!

    Hope everyone is doing well.

  • New Here
Hi, I'm new here and just thought that this was a good place to go for advice and support. I am working with Slimfast now and also trying to get in a good routine for exercise. Anybody have any advice and ideas to keep going? Thanks, Karen
  • Hi Karen and welcome! You'll find lots of good info and suggestions and lots of support here. Things seem to be a little slow the past few days, but postings will pick up I'm sure.

Well, I just got back from walking the dog and did 2.75 miles on the TM this a.m. (ran out of time ) Foodwise I've been doing pretty well. I did have one 2,000 calorie day on Wed but other than that I'm pretty much hitting the 1,500 calories a day mark. I have no energy this week. I have a cold; nothing bad but I guess it's just zapping my energy. Tomorrow is weigh-in day and I am hoping the scale is down. I don't feel like it is, but that could just be my sluggish, spud-like attitude this week. I woke up at 1a.m. last night cold and my stomach was growling loudly! My feet were freezing cold even though I had on socks and sleep under a mountain of blankets. I actually had to get up and ate 4 pretzels to shut my stomach up. Cripes, I can't even get away from it all even when I sleep!

Hope everyone has great losses tomorrow.

    Jo
  • Ooo, I'm excited that the scale went down 1 lb.! Didn't really feel like it did but I'll take it. I just got done 25 minutes on the total gym and am off for a dog walk shortly. Think I'll bag the treadmill today (this cold is making me wiped out) and will get stuff done around the house. Who knows, maybe I'll even watch some of "24" that I recorded last week! Looking forward to hearing how everyone is doing!

    Jo
  • Hi

    everyone did today
    Dusty
  • Dusty, 2 lbs. is GREAT!!! Congrats to you!!

Just a quickie to post that I had a great treadmill workout this a.m. 3 miles w/plenty of running. I did the 3 miles in 46 minutes -- that's 2 minutes off my normal time!! Very pleased with this little NSV. I think the cold I had that was dragging me down all week is finally on its way out. Now my husband has it. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

    Jo

I have all my veggies clean and cut up in bags and I have oranges and
apples plus some fat free yogurt ,sugar free jello and fat free chocolate
pudding I have some boneless skinless chicken breast and lean beef also so
I am all set for the week
we can do this I know we can

    Dusty
  • Hi all, hope everyone is well. trt! Glad to have you aboard!

I did take yesterday off from exercise. I hate exercising on Sundays; I just need to know that one day is just down time. I did ok eating over the weekend; nothing really off program but probably a little more calories than during the week. I can't seem to find the time or remember to track my food on fitday on the weekends. I keep track of it in my head but it's nice to actually see the numbers.

I did 25 minutes on the totaly gym and 3.25 miles on the treadmill. Not quite as quick as this past Saturday's workout but that was cause I was playing with my new (well, ok refurbished) ipod!! I LOVE THIS THING! I'm going to have to take a day and actually figure out which songs work best with which speed so I can create warmup, cooldown and cardio playlists. But it's sooooo much better than the cd player that we have or even a portable cd player. I've already got about 45 songs on it and that's just from some of our cds. I highly recomend mp3 players! I just hope technology doesn't make this completely obsolete in 5 years!

Didn't get the dog out today. We are both disappointed about that. Too much time w/the music and prepping for work tomorrow. I did reach my January walking goal of 50 miles today so I revised it for another 20 by the end of the month. Hope you all are having a great day!!

  • Hi everyone! I've been pretty busy and have been on the 'puter much. I was too scared to weigh in on Friday, cause t.o.m. was rearing her ugly head and I know I retain water, so I didn't weigh! But it got to me on Monday and I weighed and am down another 1 lb. (5 total). gotta change my stats. I will weigh again this Friday. I'm drinking my water, and counting my ww points. I'm just glad my husband eats what I cook without complaining much. Since most of the stuff I eat now is veggies and fish/chicken. I don't know how i'm losing without exercising but I'll take it. I guess just running around after my 2year old is plenty of exercise.
We have made reservations in a condo in Destin Fl. in June, so I want to be down to goal by then! I figure if I hit 5 pounds each month, I will make it to goal. Just in time for a swimsuit (ugh) 1 piece of course. My stomach looks like a shriveled raisin from my pregnancy. Yeah yeah, battle scars from the baby, i know - worth every stretch mark!
