Hehe, next time I'm doing front raises I'll just think of those suckers as 20 pound cans of beer!

Great mental image there Susan!

I'm off back to bed. I'm a sick frus. I have aching limbs - and not just DOMS! My joints hurt and I feel sick. Nice! No snuffles or cough or sore throat, just sore all over

Have a good weighty rest of week gals - you're making me feel like lifting! I think the only thing I will be lifting is my cup of water to my mouth!

BYEEEEE

Frus - keep warm and drink enough. Poor thing!

Ramble alert! Another slightly out-of-control day chez silverbirch has begun. I woke up about 5 or 6 times in the night (bet that was indigestion from poor eating yesterday). We bought a piano yesterday! It was in a sale. We just had to. It's coming this afternoon. But the floor isn't level in the only place it can go because of some old tiles on the floor and wall. They have to go so I'm ready with a cold chisel and mallet. I was going to do this job in due course but now I think I have to do it today before the piano comes. I really want to go to sleep. I don't want to eat as badly as yesterday and the day before. And it's the last day of term before the Easter holidays. Right, I've talked myself into having a sleep. Can't use sharp tools safely if you're almost a zombie. Ramble over. Thanks for listening.

Night, night, everyone.

I'm relieved to report that my shoulders are fine this morning. I can tell I did something but they don't hurt. Thanks for the tips and support all!

Silver -- Choosing not to play with sharp objects when one is tired is a very good idea... For now you could always put some wedges to make the piano level till you're ready for the construction/renovation..

2F -- Poor girl, you stay in bed too and heal well hun

I took measurments yesterday and I have gained 3/4 inches all over, chest, waist, hips, thighs...arghhh... NOT a happy camper her, the scale says 2# up so I dunno whassup with that... Anyways, I will be more cautious from now on...

Today it's chest and triceps... Tonight it's a run with the gals...

Sarah Ann!

Back from 2.5 hours sleep and I feel a bit better, though fragile. I'll have to be a bit careful today, I think!

Salmon and apple for dinner. Very nice.

Edit: Ilene! Wedges are the way to go. I'd just got there too in my muddled thinking. Thanks.

Good weather can't come soon enough for me, sick of the dry patches of skin on my sides and tops of my legs. Blah.

Gym was crowded today, especially for a Thursday, what is up with that??

My free Bally's membership is still working out - that 5 am opening is a sure draw for me, though they now want me to fill out a guest pass everytime I go, no problem, nothing is truly free.

Shoulders this morning, slow and steady as my left one goes wonky - due to years of carrying shoulder bags I assume. Did some chest work, waiting for that to catch up with me. MEL - visions of fear that your shoulder will fall off. I am getting into a smooth routine and can tell now I really really needed to shake things up from my previous routine (of course the other half of this is that now I am at the gym 4-5 days a week versus once every other week!!)

MEL - The gym has a couple of 2.5 increments, if you can find them, wondering if someone is hiding them. I can find them when I work out at 6 am but at noon, none to be seen anywhere. Or maybe someone is using them as doorstops.

Inspired about all the Oxygen mag talk and may treat myself to that. Really really trying to cut down on $ spent as we are spending a large bucket on our Scotland trip this summer.

SILVER - How wonderful to have a piano. wedges sound much safer.

If DH does not get over his cold soon, I am sending him to his mom's, I am not the nursing type and he is one of those patients who won't stay home and in bed, though can't think straight. I am so done with this after 2 days. I know I know I did have those vows sickness and health, but no one said how sick or for how long.

Liza - What is it with guys anyway?? Those of you with sons - are they the same way??

Gray, cloudy, dusting of SNOW - blech! plus I'm joining Frus in sick bay - have achy joints, a slight sore throat... Someday I'll take an airplane flight and not feel rotten when I get home.

Silverbirch - a piano! I'm sooo jealous. I have to make do with an electronic keyboard (full size though) as we really have nowhere in our tiny house for a piano. Good job avoiding sharp tools when tired.

Back to the accumulated mounds of work.....

Whenever I look after a miserable old man who has a long suffering wife who he expects to look after him always, I remind my husband of that vow and tell him ... I lied!

Calves and hams today. I'm out of order but I was taking it easy on the old upper bod.

ARGH! Worse, if that's possible. And since mine is in that charming 15 year old stage, in addition to being a whiney, wimpy patient, he's surly and grumpy as well. Can you tell he's been home sick for the last 2 days?

Good back workout today. This is my super heavy week in my periodization schedule, so it was fun to heave the big dumbbells around.

Silver- Enjoy the piano! Did you end up removing the tiles? I'm about to start a bathroom renovation and that's what's keeping me from plunging in...last one I renovated, I removed about 500 pounds of tile and inderlying concrete. This bathroom is 3 times the size. I keep telling DH that's what contractors are for, but his theory is if we CAN do it, we should. Sigh.

Ilene- I haven't been a happy camper for the last few months, but I sure am stronger. Are you swimming in cold water? I once heard that swimmers have a harder time losing fat because they need it for insulation in cold water...probably an old wives tale.

SusanB- Glad your shoulders are still intact. A 60 pound upright row is heavy for me.

Gotta go scrounge dinner,
Mel

You can hang onto mine too!

Mel, the last time that DH and tried a home renovation/repair project together (23 years ago), we bungled it so badly that we had to call in the pros to set it straight. To this day, he'll gladly pay to avoid that nightmare again. There's a lesson in there for you.
