I do circut training. I've been reading some of these posts about mixing cardio with weights. Is it a good idea or should I do cardio one day weights the next? Those Firm videos mix cardio with weights, are they any good?
mixing up weight training and cardio is good.....for me I usually try to keep my heart rate up when lifting weights. It is something my trainer has drilled into me and it kind of helps keep the carido going while also improving the strengh....sometimes we will do things that are anerobic activity and then something to get the heart rate up...usually we do things in sets of 3 but also do it in group of 3's like we will do dips, crunches and squats like a curcuit with a quick break after each group of one set and we do 3 sets....jeez i hope that made sense....
I am on Body For Life and I alternate cardio days with weight lifting days. On the weight lifting days, I alternate upper and lower body workouts. I do this 6 days a week and take one day off.
I whatever I can, some times iI do both, some days I do only cardio, other days it's just weights, some days I bike, blade, and run after weights... Just depends on my mood, but I try to do something at least 5-7 days/week...
I am following Fit for Life, the exercise not so much the food, too many carbs for me. Anyway, I like the Fit for Life, I do an intense warm up, then upper body or lower body workout and if I have time at the gym, I do some stretching as well as a quick 10 minutes on the treadmill (how do 10 minutes get any quicker??) or my new item the real step machine. I do two days of all aerobics and take the one day off though I often find something to do even if it is just kicking the soccer ball with my daughter.
I believe the key is to do what you are going to do and not some plan which is too complicated or boring for you to keep up.
