Ok, I'm going to have to try the treadmill lunges again - I did it once, but they just seemed so awkward! Are you gals putting the treadmill on an incline to do them?
Dip - I got the incline curl idea from my "Body Sculpting Bible for Women". Lots of good exercise ideas in there. Sorry to hear about the mess you had to clean up today - not fun! Ilene - I checked out my MM, and I think that you're meant to eat 2 of the tuna patties as an entree serving, or just one as an appetizer. Just made a pan of turkey/spinach lasagna. Never subbed turkey in it before, so I'll have to see how it is. I did add some beef boullion powder to my turkey when I was browning it, in the hopes of adding some beefy flavor. I'll let you know how it is. Cindy |
You are all writing fiends! It's only been a day and it took me 20 minutes to read through everything...and that doesn't even count the fact that there are about 3 or 4 pages of last weeks posts I haven't read yet! Oh well, it gives me something to look forward to in work tomorrow :)
Dip - sorry to hear about the volcano in your bathroom...spraying toilet water in never nice. I did a major UBWO last night...I woke up this morning beyond sore...it felt great! Well, it felt great to know I did a great workout but physically...not so great :) BFL Cat - What is the recipe for the turkey spinach lasagna? Sounds great, my two favorite ingredients in one dish! Yum! Hello to everyone! I'll catch up on the reading and write more tomorrow. Have a great day! Melissa |
Okay I have to check in with the LWL!
Its been about a month since I went to the gym and did any heavy lifting, instead relying on Yoga and aerobics for my movement. My arm that I broke in October still bothers me. Today was a blessing, I call it devine encouragement , but you can just say I needed to heal. I went this morning and not only did I shake up my old routine, I was able to lift in my old range (10-20 lbs) I know for some of you this doesn't seem that exciting for me it was a miracle. The elbow never hinged tonight and I feel worked out :flow2: :strong:
So many new faces here! You ladies keep up the hard work. I love to lurk here and be inspired :D Miss Chris  |
Miss Chris! We love seeing you here, so you just poke that cute little nose in whenever you can. :D
:high: on the arm and the weights! I'm off to 'run' -- back later! |
Cindy -- I did put the tread on an incline of 12% yesterday, it was the highest it could go... My butimus maximus is sore this morning but not as sore as I thought it would be!! I did take a double dose of glutamine after the workout yesterday... Cindy I've been hungrier than usual too lately and having my 6th meal at 7:30PM after eating at 5PM! I guess it's spring and like flowers our muscles are bloomin'... Just a  thought this early Tuesday morning...
Dip -- We had a similar thing happen when S was little he dropped a tube of hand cream in the toilet upstairs... our water went down the heating duck though and in between the walls to the closet downstairs, right down to the basement! What a mess for sure... Everyone hates doin' their big business upstairs anymore for that reason.. Miss Chris ~~ :grouphug: Welcom back !! Any little bit of weight is a good weight to start... Come back again... And your face does show a weight loss there young lady! Just a thought to throw out at everyone....Has anyone thought of writting to Oprah or Dr. Phil about this wonderful LWL group of ours? This would be an exciting way of meeting don't you think? Anyways, not much on the agenda today, clean eats, workout shoulders and cardio of course :D, and MAYBE clean out the friggin' fridge!! A yucky job but someone has to do it! Later all! I don't work today so I can check in often YAY!! |
Good morning!
Well I'm all tickled pink this morning. I've been trying to interval (walk/run) my way back up to some sort of distance again, and slowly but surely I was getting there. I'd kind of stalled out at about a half mile, though - and last week was sluggish and slow. I thought maybe I was pushing it a little to hard (me? never) so I dropped it down a notch and then yesterday did the 1 minute run as fast as I can (not that fast), then one minute walk at a good clip, I did run a half mile with no walking, but the rest of it was the one minute intervals. And today I walked a half mile as my warm up, then started to run - the half mile was nearly effortless so I decided to go for the 3/4 mile. I was still going good, so I decided what the heck, go for the mile. I made it, I was tired, but I made it. And I walked the last half mile at a little over 4 mph. I was supposed to do UB this morning, but the lure of the treadmill was too strong. I'm supposed to take a riding lesson tonight, but the weather is being cranky again. I'm not sure if it will be cancelled or not. If I don't ride, I'll definitely lift. I'm really thinking that I just seem to really love that cardio in the morning, so I think I'll start lifting at night after work. That way I don't feel "cheated" out of my running. ;) Chris! - Well you're doing better than me on the weights. I started out again even lower than that, so :high: girl. Dip - I have a son who creates a disaster in the toilet nearly every day. And he's 11 years old. *sigh* At least he's getting old enough to clean it up himself, finally! :p All this talk about treadmill lunges... *gleep* I can barely do regular old lunges on a stable surface, I think I'll hold off on trying anything as adventurous as on a treadmill. Maybe .. later. Much later. Hope everyone's having a great day! |
Hi all,
Dip - Sorry to hear about the commode. My DD tossed Swimming Christy down ours to see if she could swim - she drowned. What a MESS! Chris - good job on the lifting. the best thing is that you did start. So many just give up, but you didn't. Last night I cooked my fav - lean turkey sausage with peppers and onions. I made the crews plates and then went to work abs. Came back and DD had eaten all of hers AND mines. :hungry: So I had tuna for dinner instead. I did hit the bike last night for 35 minutes to help the sore legs out. This AM my clock went off at 415AM. I hit snooze but after about 10 minutes I heard someone moving around my house. I grabbed my baseball bat and went to get my kids to hide them in my room. DD was up and dressed for school. She heard my clock and thought it was time to get up. I tucked her in my bed with the remote control and hit the gym. I ran for 45 minutes, various inclines at 5MPH. I got that runner high going on today! :dizzy: One more thing - Today - size 12 suit, 3 inch heels - hadn't been able to wear either in a LONG time. This feels real good, especially after the scale hurt my feelings Sunday. :cloud9: Have a good clean sweaty dirty day. Peace. Tiki. |
Good Morning Gals!
I decided to do some much needed housework before anything this morning. I am pleased. Need to take a shower and head on out to do errands and some shopping. Food is prepped and planned for the day, and I'll do cardio later this afternoon when I get back. Definitely feeling the effects of yesterday's lift, and that's a good thing. Took melatonin last night and slept 8 hours like a rock, only waking up twice. But I am groggy this morning. Ilene - yep, I've thought many times about writing Dr. Phil about LWL but it's a matter of taking the time. I was just thinking yesterday that a trip to LA woud be nice right about now. DH's employer has another plant out there, and every once in awhile, that plant manager who is also an old friend from here, calls him out to for a week or so to work on a project. When we can afford it, I go too. But because he's there to work, I've seen more of LA than DH has. I would love to go to Dr. Phil's Show. Raven- WTG on the running! I started this new interval training, and this week I'm up to 3-1@ 5.0MPH. This training says they'll have me running in 5 weeks - yeah, well we'll see. These short legs were just not made for running, but I try! Best part though, like Meg said, is the runner's high. Hi Chris! Glad to see you stop by and hope you will more often. Well, I better get off of here and into the shower. Check back later! Hi to all! dip |
Dip - I know what you mean about short legs. I am only 5'2 and when I am on the tread running next to taller people I SWEAR I am taking twice the amount of steps they are. But hey, in my opinion twice the steps = twice the workout = twice the "high".
Tiki |
Tik -- Twice the calories burned? I'm only 5'3...
Dip -- I've had problems falling asleep lately... my restless legs drive me crazy some nights... my feet and whole body are hot, not like a hot flash, but core hot? KWIM?? One night last week I got up to put a cold facecloth on my feet, I swear I thought they were going to sizzle when I put the cloth on, but of course didn't, then I put cream on my feet... I take Vit E, calcium & magnesium before bed this is suppose to help calm my legs...but sometimes it doesn't work...At night we keep the house at about 65F and I only sleep with a sheet, boxer shorts & tank top, and I'm not cold! I keep telling DH to back off, he likes it he says I'm like a furnace and he can spoon me NOT touch me, and he can feel the heat coming from me.... YEA I'm HOT stuff!! NOT!!! Anywhoo....Friggin' Fridge Cleanin' almost done!! I had to take a break from the rubber gloves my hands get soooo sweaty in them... Well, that's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it!! :s: So.... I be back later....... |
Hi y'all! takes a long time to catch up on all the posts.
i printed that tuna cake recipe, i'm gonna try it soon. when i did atkins, tuna was my staple food and after a couple months just the thought of it made me sick :p so i've still got several cans of tuna sitting in my pantry. Ilene and Mel- i'm interested in adding lunges to my leg routine, is there a web site you got your information from? for those treadmill lunges, what speed and incline do you set the treadmil on/ did upper body yesterday, great workout, i really pushed myself, not as sore today as i thought i'd be, wonder what i'll feel like tomarow :^: uh-oh, just cardio today baby very cranky today, not feeling good :( , gotta go -E |
Dip - Is that the "Couch Potato to 5K" on coolrunning? I am kind of sort of maybe a little bit following that.. I am logging my running there, though. I've found that to be a great resource for finding out what's going on with my body, like the anterior and posterior shin splints, etc. I'm short too, right about 5'3" I guess. I think I'm shrinking.

Hello ladies!
Raven - WTG on the running. I understand how hard it can be to get started and the rush you get when you finally feel like you are doing it and getting somewhere! Hi Miss Chris - I'm pretty new here so haven't met you...just saying hi! Good job getting back into the swing of things. Tiki - I got the funniest image of you creeping around your hallway with a baseball bat! Things are good here on the exercise front and ok on the eating one...could be better but couldn't it always be that way? :) The bad news is my wisdom teeth have started coming in really quickly and there is no room for them so tomorrow I have to go in and get them removed... :( ugghh oh well, guess it's just one of those things you have to do. Hello to everyone else and hope you all have a great day! Melissa |
Tiki: I am only 5'4" so I understand totally what you mean - when I first started running properly I couldn't work out why I wasn't getting faster until I realised that I was taking tiny steps. I figured out that to get up speed I had to *stride* out because my legs are so short!
Ilene: I am a total furnice at night as well and hubby freezes so he loves me. Typically it's me with the sheet and him with the doona most nights. I got the best surprise last night - my treadmill turned up! It wasn't due for another 2 weeks and they rang me at the last minute to see if I was home and if they could drop it off! I was so hanging to use it but by the time they dropped it off and then the 25 minutes for the installation and instruction - it was like 9pm before they left. Then I had to run it in for 30 minutes before I could use it - so I just walked on it for 10 minutes and then left it for today. I can't wait to go home and use it this afternoon! It looks much bigger in my house than in the sports store! JC |
HOT DOG JC - So are you gonna do lunges tonight or WHAT?
