Good Mornin' LWL
Not much happening in this neck of the woods... Supposed to be a nice day today, and I'm working... The Friggin' Fridge DID get done yesterday took me 3 hours! But wow I can see the bottom of it now!! Ledom: Good mornin' girl! I'm so happy that you enjoy Yoga so much... Whatever words for you and your health is what is the best to you and you only! Kayak I'd love to try that... Dip: I've never been tested for restless leg syndrome but I'm 99% sure I have it... I'd have to go to a sleep clinic and I KNOW I would not sleep there at all... There are moments that drive me a bit nuts, but the last 4 days it's been perfect, the symptoms come and go... I think alot of it is hormonal too.... Ok gotta go D is out of the shower, and I have to go take mine cause I work... But I also have to talk to her because she and S and some friends are going to see Nickleback tonite in concert and it's their first concert and she needs a little speech and I have to do it now because later today her friends will be around.... Later! |
Ah, the joys of motherhood. But this is an exciting time as well Illene. It keeps you young, if for no other reason than the vicarious thrill of living through all those firsts again. Yesterday my DD told me her latest crush is an aviation major, it just sent chills through me. I do not fly! On the plus side, she has a new crush every couple of weeks or so, so maybe this is a passing fancy as well. My new tapes came and I previewed the first one last night, it looks just right for me. This is a set of 4 tapes and it has two beginner tapes and two more advanced. I'll try it out tonight when I get home. Rainbeux Mars, yes that's her name, explains how the positions massage your organs also how your skin gets a healthy glow when you do yoga (I am experiencing this). I am just eating this stuff up. Oh, and on this beginner tape, even though I can see that it is a beginning tape, I don't think I could have taken to it if not for having had some classes. I'm shooting for 30 min. of the treadmill and 30 min. of yoga each day. Because you do yoga on an empty stomach I am scheduling feeding a bit differently and it plays into eating less. Once again, this is something that I plan to do until mid-May. I hope by then I have dropped substansial lbs. and I plan to take up lifting again during the summer months.

Morning, all! Back from running — great way to start the day and clean out my addled brain. I’m just like you, Dip, if I don’t do it first thing in the AM, something always happens and it ends up not getting done. That’s why I made my new rule of not eating breakfast until I do cardio, because there's nothing that inspires me to move like my oatmeal and PP!
On height — apparently I’m a woman of great stature around this place at 5’4” (on a good day). One of my gym buddies likens my legs to those of his dachshund when he sees me running (he seems to think that’s hysterically funny), so I agree that we take two steps for every one of taller people. JC — I think it’s very possible on the low pulse. One of the benefits of being cardiovascularly fit. It’s a GOOD thing. I’m no help on herbs, though. My butt is sorer than it’s been for a long, long time after doing legs on Monday and I think it’s a combination of track lunges and treadmill lunges. I really couldn’t run yesterday morning — did a mile and had to walk a bit and then another half-mile and then it just hurt to much to keep going so I walked some more and gave up for the day. Took the day off from working out, so I’m rested and ready to hit arms hard today (bi’s and tri’s). I’ve been having fun doing drop sets of cable curls and am really able to increase the weight that way. Tank top weather is coming, ladies! :sunny: Have a good one today — it’s the start of taxes here. :( |
Ledom -- thanks for the encouragements! I'm excited for them really... She took my speech very well BTW... OMG Ledom your post reminded me that at one point I also dated a pilot! How my mom must have had nightmares! We were up flying all the time in his 2 seater Cessna! LOL... Your plan sounds great! Keep us posted even you aren't lifting at the moment, we aren't prejudice at all ...

Hey Meg!!
|
:yikes: TANK TOP WEATHER???? :yikes: :yikes:
JC- My resting heart rate hovers between 48-55. It's all that clean living. and cardio and weights. Back later, Hi everyone! |
Checking in on the fly ... not much to report. Eating OK -- having a little trouble with night eating. I think it's the stress, exacerbated by a blip in my exercise routine. Pulled a muscle or something in my back at pilates a week ago, and have been struggling ever since. But it's nothing I can't overcome. Managing to eat clean during the day, so all's not lost. Hope to get back on that treadmill tomorrow. Will try to catch up with everyone on the weekend. Hugs to all.

Hi all!
Ilene - glad your mom / daughter talk went well. i have a few years to go before mine can go out w/friends and no supervision. I think her dad is more worried about that than I am. JC - I am NO help on herbs. sorry. glad you are enjoying the treadmill. Dip - I checked out your pics on the site. That pea coat is TOO cool. and you were "workin it" in the photos. I never dated a pilot, but my first boyfriend had a Kawasaki motorcycle. I think I liked his bike more than I liked him. I would imagine he was Prince and I was Appolonia (from the Purple Rain movie) :joker: Did abs and some back exercises last night. Hit the tread again this morning for another 45 minutes at 5MPH. I was working on lengthening my stride and thought I was doing pretty good until a really tall, lean guy hopped on the treadmill next to me. I checked out his machine and he was running at 7.8MPH but was taking less steps than me. When we finished, I told him I was jealous of his longer legs. He pointed out that although his legs are longer, he is also carrying around 70 more pounds than me. Okay, I win - he loses. :goodvibes: Gave in to a natural peanut butter / pretzel urge last night, but luckily held it down to the one $.25 bag of pretzels instead of fighting that and then eating twinkies. :T: Peace. Tiki. |
OK, Mel, I’m willing to concede that it’s not quite tank top weather here either, though sunny today … but it’s coming! When I checked into the hospital a few months ago, my heart rate was 54 and they asked me — me! —if I was a runner! I got such a kick out of that. :D
Hi back, Ilene! How's your behind today? Robin’s — all’s not lost as long as you’re still trying; it’s only failure when you give up. In my opinion, we learn a lot more during the tough times than the easy times. Look at what Dip posted today: Originally Posted by : |

I chickened out on the treadmill lunges today because there were a bunch of new guys in the gym this morning, and I didn't really want to look too foolish in front of them. If it would have been the same old group, I wouldn't have minded. Maybe I'll practice at home first. My turkey lasagna is mighty tasty - I'll share the recipe once I make sure it's ok ;-) Catch up with you all later! Cindy |
Meg -- You're so right that Dip and Robin and many of the gals on here are smart chickies! You are the one who once said to me, "you are learning from your mistakes and not letting a one meal slip go into a full week of binging" that has really stuck with me...Thank goodness for this thread, I have learned many many things! :grouphug: to all! Butt is still very, very sore today!!
Tiki -- D thinks I talk TOO much about such things, and I do repeat myself all the time on purpose, but too bad for her really... But I pretend to have forgotten the last talk and ask her to listen to humour ME and make ME feel good, and she does :) ... So far this works... I'm off to the gym soon for :strong: and :tread: .... Polishing crown as I speak Tik!! :queen: |
Hi everyone, seems i only get to check what's goin on here every couple days, then i always have major catching up to do!
JC- congrats on the treadmil Mel- i think all of those calorie counter features on the cardio machines are innacurate. once my friend and i were on the eliptical trainers and we sped up and slowed down and the calorie counter kept clicking away at the same rate. I think to be accurate they would have to take many things into account, weight, muscle/ fat %, age, etc. i guess i'm the second tallest gal here- 5'6"! my sister is 5'7" and all legs and it frustrates me when we take walks together cause even though i'm more cardiovascularly fit than her i can never keep up with her- she's just so much faster with those long legs! Bflcat- know what you mean about not wanting to look foolish at the gym, i'm gonna try those treadmil lunges tomarow when i have my buddy with me so atleast i won't look stupid alone  Ilene and Dip- what is restless leg syndrome? Baby is a little better today but i feel like crap now! started middle of the night last night, runny nose, sore throat, stiff neck (in back, always happens when i get sick) i went to the chiropracter today, boy was i outta wack! i had gone to the gym, just did 45 minues of cardio and felt like i was really exerting myself although my heart rate only stayed in 130- 140's range. Chiropractor said mabey i was feverish and it was my body's way of making sure i don't get overheated, and that it was probably good to go and sweat out some of those toxins :p i swear she just makes this stuff up sometimes, but she's a good chiropractor so.......who knows, who cares. Well off to take a shower and drink a glass of OJ and take some Echinicea (? sp) -E |
Oh well I guess that my pulse is ok then - I don't know why I thought that it couldn't be that low? Maybe it's all the running I do with soccer and stuff? anyways....
I went for my first run on my treadmill last night and then finished it up with walking lunges. They are sooo much fun! But I had to hold on for balance at first. Besides that nothing else is happening - just plenty of water and clean eating. JC |
Spare moment or two here...
Thought it was a good time to drop a quick note!
JC - I certainly do know where Walnut Creek is - it's about 45 miles away from us here on the Peninsula...north on 101, over the Bay Bridge, up the 580 and through the Caldecott Tunnel  Actually Jim's brother lives nearby in Lafayette - it's still fairly rural around there, right next to Mt. Diablo State Park which is well worth a visit! Robin - night eating is the WORST thing for me too! I can easily undo an entire clean day after work...especially after a stressful day. Planning ahead is what works best for me. If I lived alone, I would probably not keep any food in the house - just buy what I need each day. But of course that's not very realistic, is it? ;) Brushing and flossing, along with getting in bed and journaling helps a bunch too - I just CAN'T eat in the bedroom. Tank Top Weather??? I only wish...it got pretty nice here last week but then we had a series of storms hit us over the past few days big time...I am SO ready for summer - I would like to lose a bit of weight though - maybe 5 or 10 pounds. I'm really enjoying my workouts these days now that I'm 100% back for the most part ('cept for abs - still getting used to that 'tight' feeling). I do need to get more cardio in though... Dip - we did our taxes last weekend - gotta LOVE TurboTax! This is my fourth year using it - LOVE IT! And we're actually getting a refund this year - not a BIG one but still I'll take it... So Meg...did I miss the instructions for treadmill lunges or what? Well, nothing much happening here - remember that last week, Jim and Shree played at our company's Black History Month Art & Music assembly? WELL...yesterday the BHM organizer called Jim and asked if they could play again this Friday! And of course they both said yes...I have Friday off but I'm planning on stopping by for the little concert at lunch! |
Elasky -- Restless Leg Syndrome for me can best be described that my legs never stop moving... either my toes move or something does... Then at night when I'm on the verge of falling asleep they get jumpy and I swear they must jump a foot off the bed, maybe not, but that's what it feels like... My feet get very HOT, in the summer I've started to put the fan on them directly. I rarely sleep with the sheets on my feet... It got really bad this summer with the humidity, this is when I searched it on the internet and found out I wasn't actually the only one that has this. I've always had it I think because as a kid my mom always said she could never sleep with me because my legs constantly moved and she couldn't fall asleep... I've read that it gets worse with age and hormones. You can take drugs but the drugs make you depressed, HELLLLLO, NOT for moi! So at that time I also read that you can take calcium, magnesium to calm the muscles in your legs, and vitamine E, my doctor told me does almost the same effect they have discovered as one drug they recommend... But I find it's also worse just before my periods, and guess what I just started them today... So last week it was really bad, light bulb moment!! (I wish they had an icon of a light bulb) ... I don't think your chiro was too far off with your body getting rid of toxins and your fever, because what I understand of a fever is that it's making your body sweat to get rid of the toxins...
My BUTT!!! is very very very sorry sore tonite... I did more lunges this afternoon on the :tread: ... It feels very round  I know sounds silly but it does! :D not a bad feeling by any means... Did back and bis today, it's a different combo than I usually do and I feel it already tonite... I can't wait for the kids to come back from the concert, I think I'm more nervous excited than they are! It'll be a late nite for them, D should be in a nice MOOD tomorrow... Anyways, not much else, was a pretty good day all around... Later all... |
