I'm still here feeling wobbly in the tummy - it's like my whole stomach is constantly vibrating, leaving me with no appetite, and constantly slightly nausous. If I try to any volume, it quickly progresses beyond nausea! I'm eating small meals of very bland food. It's almost like motion sickness, complete with the nagging headache. DH suggested I try a motion sickness medication, but boy they leave you so groggy that I've not tried it yet. I switched the time to take the medication to evening to hopefully move the worst symptoms to when I'm asleep, and I felt good this morning for a couple hours, but now I'm right back to having them. Grrrr.

Pat, hope you feel better, or get a diagnosis soon...that doesn't sound like fun. :(
The party at the lake was fun. We had a workout to celebrate, of course. It was for a team of 4. We started with a swimmer swimming about 300 meters or so to a buoy, then they had to hang out there and tread water, meanwhile, as soon as our swimmer tagged the buoy, a runner would run from the swim dock over to the boat dock, tagging off for 2 team members in the canoe to go. I was in the canoe. We had to row around the point to the other side, pick up our swimmer, and canoe back. Most teams dumped their canoe at some point, but our team had 2 in the canoe who had done it before, so we were the first (and maybe the only?) team that didn't dump the canoe. When we got back to the dock, we all had to do a lot of kettlebell swings, dumbbell snatches, some double-unders (which were ridiculous/hilarious because our trainer brought the 4 and 5 ft long kids' jumpropes, so you had to ball yourself up to avoid knocking yourself in the back of the head, lol), then over the 8 ft wall (I had to have help), then we played ball with 20 lb medballs over top of the wall (had to catch it for the rep to count), and that was it. It took our team about half an hour, and I think we were second to last, but it was fun. After the workout, there was a lot of eating, swimming, more canoeing, paddling a surfboard, and lots of socialising, drinking, lying, laughing. I ate a lot of good food and a little bad food, and spent most of my time either holding babies or playing with the little kids, when I wasn't canoeing or swimming. Closer to dark, we moved the party to the lake house and ordered pizza. We crushed about ten big pizzas, and called it a night about 10:30, since we all either have kids or are just getting too old to stay up late, lol. Tomorrow morning, my sister has her first On Ramp class at my CF gym. It's at 6 a.m., not my usual time, but I am going to attempt to make it, so I can point and laugh. My trainer says I can do strongman stuff tomorrow, so it should be a fun day. :) |
Cheryl: Your lake party sounds wonderful. As I read your post I began to think how awesome it is that the kids witnessed their parents enjoying themselves doing this kind of thing: rowing, swimming, running, competing. Just so refreshing from some of the kinds of weekend parties I recall from my childhood.
Pat: My goodness. Do feel better soon. Nothing is worse than nausea. Absolutely nothing in my opinion. Ick. Picked up DH from the airport last night around midnight. :faint: He flew in from San Diego from the Comic-Con. http://www.comic-con.org/cci/ He had a great time, saw a few famous folks, handed out ice cream and didn't sleep for three days. Today I have him out loading our Storage and Moving containers. I had hoped to be a little further along than we are at this point today but you can only do so much. Off to enjoy some time with friends. Maybe they'll let us nap in the corner. |
Cheryl , that party sounds great. I had a much more sedate time at a local lake, taking a kayak out for the first time to watch the sunset and the (full) moon rise. I managed to dump it once but got back on just fine. And, nature's display was spectacular.
Pat, I hope you medication issues are resolved soon. It sounds quite awful. And, Lydia, I agree with you about how wonderful it must be for kids to see parents and adults playing with such vigor. Good luck with your moving hassles. Today was aquafit day; tomorrow is spinning class and UB workout. In addition to buying "New Rules..." I bought a book on anatomy and weightlifting. It's interesting and motivating to see drawings of which muscles are used in the exercises. Rhonda |
Thanks guys. I'm about 70% better today, and am planning on - gasp - actually exercising tomorrow. Of course, I move to the final (higher) dose on Wed, so I expect a setback, but the fact that it's abated so much by today gives me hope that even if it gets worse at the higher dose, it won't last as long.
Lydia - when do you need to be out of your house? Glad that DH is there to help. I once moved - from one apt to another in the same building - when DH was out of town, and his flight was delayed. He got back just as we finished up. Thank goodness for other people's husbands. Cheryl - sounded like a good party. Rhonda - your kayak ride sounded nice too - and it was probably warm enough that a dip was only an inconvenience. Here, the rain continues, the temps are in the 50's. Sigh. Right now we'd settle for dry, we've given up on sun and warmth..... |
Pat- Hope the nausea doesn't get worse again :p I agree with Lydia- there is NOTHING worse! Hang in there
OK, fess up Lydia- do you and Mr. Lydia have matching Spidey costumes? Do you secretly dress up as Wonder Woman to escort Captain America around Columbus (I think I saw you two years ago on Halloween on High Street!) What was he doing at Comi-Con? :dizzy: Today's WOD was brutal and I'm going to be feeling it tomorrow! I managed 12 rounds rx'ed. W O D “McGhee” 5 Deadlifts (185, 275) 13 Push ups 9 Box Jumps (18, 24) AMRAP in 30 mins! I don't have a clue who McGhee was, but it's another hero workout. For Rhonda: Rx'ed = with the proscribed weights, as written. Hero Workout = a named workout that all Cross Fits do, named in honor of a soldier, policeman, firefighter, etc, killed in the line of duty. Often a CrossFitter. Rhonda- Kayaking sounds lovely! Haven't done that in years. Mel |
Oh am I SORE!!!!! Haven't been this sore in a long time :p I lifted 12950 pound of metal in that workout!
|
Mel, I haven't done that one yet, but it sounds brutal...low enough reps so you'd just never rest...ack! :faint:
Rhonda, the kayaking sounds lovely! I've never tried a kayak, because frankly, for too many years, I was convinced I couldn't fit into one (not true, I'm sure, but I didn't do a LOT of things because I felt like I was too fat or out of shape). I'd like to try it some time, though. Lydia, glad you have Mr. Lydia home at last. :) I totally agree about the kids seeing their parents having fun with exercise. It shows, too. When the little ones play at the gym, it's often playing "workout", since that's what they see the grown-ups doing for fun. Also, our trainers have always wanted the kids to be welcomed, included, part of the mix. Yesterday, for example, one of the babies fell asleep on a blanket in the middle of the gym. Instead of waking/moving her, one of the guys put orange cones around her blanket, so nobody would forget she was there, lol. Today I am going into the gym early. My sister has her second On-Ramp class, I missed the first, so I want to be there, plus my trainer asked me (ME?!) to cover the gym for 90 minutes or so this morning, I guess he has to leave early, so I'm covering till his wife can get there. The 7 a.m. crowd is usually experienced folks, so I'm only slightly nervous about having to be the one with the stopwatch and the "trainer" cap on. :brr: |
Between being sick, going camping and having homework to turn in, I hadn't been at Crossfit for 2 weeks (!!!). I went yesterday and we did squat cleans (supposedly for max weight but my squat cleans suck so I just practiced mine) then the WOD:
5 rounds of 5 muscle ups (I did my pull downs) 10 deadlifts 225/185 (I did 133 much to the surprise of the trainer) My time was 14:20 Then we did 15 clean/press with kettlebell. I've done clean/press with the kettlebell before but never where I tried to keep the kettlebell upright, it was difficult. Oh and on the deadlifts, it was funny because I had no clue how much weight to use. So I ask and I'm told to put 20 lbs on a 33 lb bar which I said would be too light, so I put 50 lbs which I realize is too light so then I put 70 lbs on it. I then carry the barbell across the room to make room for someone doing muscle ups. The trainer looks at me and says that by the fact that I carried it across the room means it is too light. So 100 lbs goes on my 33 lb bar. The first round of the WOD was challenging but good, the last 4 rounds were painful, especially the last round :) I am planning to go today but I'll have to see, one of our cars is going in to be looked at and would depend on us juggling our schedules and what happens with the car. Here is the WOD for today (looks painful) 800m Run 50 Burpees 40 Situps 30 Box Jumps 20 Pullups 10 Push Press (115/73) 400m Run 10 Push Press (115/73) 20 Pullups 30 Box Jumps 40 Situps 50 Burpees 800m Run |
Nelie - that does look painful. Wow.
Cheryl - enjoy being in charge! Welcome home Mr. Lydia! Comic-con sounds cool. Pat - glad you are feeling better! Mel - ow, I bet you are sore today! Rhonda - I have an anatomy of weight lifting book too, pretty neat. Decent strength workout on Monday, an hour on the elliptical today. Still hitting the yoga pretty much every day. Rolling right along. Good day everyone! |
Although I had planned to go to spinnning on Tuesday, my lower back was painful, probably from walking on very uneven stone beach when kayaking. So, I walked for an hour instead.
I did aquafit today, then LB workout. Tomorrow I will walk again and will have my second UB workout of the week. I looked up crossfit on the internet. You folks are officially crazy! Oh, how I wish I could do it. But, I can't run or jump--even jumping jacks hurt my neck, traveling right down to the fingers. However, it is clear to me that there are some exercises that I could do, and I'm going to see what I can add to my routines. I'll start that in a few weeks. I leave on Friday for a 10 day holiday and will doing only the basics, and maybe finding a spin class here and there. Mel, thanks for all the interpreting. Cheryl, give a kayak a try. It really was fun, especially on a smooth-as-glass lake. Neli, you did all that work after a 2 week break?! Wow. Rhonda |
Nice work, Nelie! Good luck with that wod today...looks bad, but hopefully means an easy day in your future for tomorrow.
My stint as fill-in stopwatch-holder went well, not too many peeps today, nobody new, so it was easy and I had a good time. (lucky, is what I was, lol!) Our wod was a quad burner: Run 400 meters 30 abmat sit-ups 50 squats 4 rounds My time was 20mins and something, I forgot to write it down. I started out well with the squats, then my reps dropped like a bomb, but by the end of it my back felt better, which was such a relief, I didn't care about my time! Still have a few pounds to lose to get back to my "normal" weight, but it's coming off, food is spot-on plan, and I hope I'll get some speed back as I get leaner. Going skating tonight, just 2 hours, but that will be good, since I haven't been skating often enough, so 2 hours will probably be my limit, anyway. |
For me, the WOD was cut in half. Good thing because it took me 30+ minutes to finish and I felt like crying afterwards. Could've been the fact that it was 100 degrees at the time.

Oh, and you are going to do just fine as Head Trainer tomorrow morning. Don't be nervous about this. They wouldn't give you the responsibility if they had any doubts that you weren't prepared enough to do this. Instead of being nervous....just plan to have a really great time.. What's the worst that could happen? And if it does, ya just dial 911. How hard is that. This is our last night at Camp Lydia. We are now sleeping on the floor. Tomorrow the last of our things will be in the storage containers and we will spend the remainder of the week with my parents. I'm oddly happy about this. I think it's the excitement of the upcoming nine hour drive with my husband and sons. (No really, I'm happy about the one on one time with them. We have a lot to catch up on) And the HOUSE. I bought a house that I've never seen except through pics online. (Really insane and no, I can't believe that's part of the story either) Mel: About Comi-con, it was work related. http://www.thinkgeek.com/blog/2010/0...-comiccon.html Mr. Lydia is the one wearing the 8bit tie. Doesn't he kind of look like Timmy? (The monkey) Rough job right? Actually, for me, it would be. I just don't have that kind of endless energy for interacting with people. Oh, and to clarify, Mr. Lydia and I are more like Batman and Cat Woman. (Well, he would say he's more like Iron Man...but I dig Batman more..."I'mmmm Batman!" K. Chairs are all packed and my backside is getting sore from sitting on the tile floor. Have a great night. Cheryl: Just reread your post. IT DID GO WELL! Great! I knew it would. See...didn't I tell you. :lol3: |
Yay Cheryl!!!!
Lydia- it must be all so bittersweet. You have such a great attitude. I can't imagine buying a house I'd never seen. Yesterday I cleaned 95 lbs during a WOD for the first time. I've done it before when working up to max cleans, but never for more than 5 reps. :) And every inch of me hurts :o |
