good morning!

Mel - sorry to hear about the pain...glad the physiotherapist could help. Did you get any info om what causes this? I googled the hang clean squat...loooks like a difficult move!

Birch - yeah, I'm early! DD has bought herself her own netbook with her own money, so i've got mine back & can check my stuff with my morning coffee before I get up. Glad to see you are recovered.

My plan for the day is bike to work & 1 hour cardio while DD is at dance class. Very busy scedule this week & next, and not feeling to well. I've had a headache for the past 3 days and I'm going for day 4. Food is less than stellar, I might be having some low level virus or something.

How are you all doing?

Sacha, do you read Cassandra Forsythe's blog (one of the co-authors of New Rules of Lifting for Women)? She is about 5 months into her pregnancy and is still working out hard as well as running bootcamps and KB workshops, etc. She even mentioned flipping tires as part of one of her recent workouts. I definitely don't think she is one of the under 12lb crowd. You might find it interesting.

Real Quick Post Nice to see you Sacha and glad to know you and baby are doing great.

Mel: Ouch! The foot?!

Just checked out Depalma's link. Saw the second video and though,. "No way is she doing Turkish Get Ups at five months. I just know that much of a flexion in the core area was impossible for me to perform. I do wonder though how my body would adapt to pregnancy at my current fitness level. Considering I'm six years older now, it would probably counteract any of the positive effects of improved fitness. And certainly not curious enough to find out just in case Mr. Lydia happens to be lurking.

'K back to the books.

Mel, everyone seems to enforce their own opinions during that time, don't they?

Depalma, I have checked out Cassandra in the past, haven't seen her pregnancy blog. That's what I like to see!

I have morning sickness this morning.... bluuuugh... I think I'll do my workout in the afternoon instead. I'm trying to force down breakfast right now, even though it is a yummy brekkie.

Whole wheat wrap, 2 whole eggs (microwaved), 3 slices turkey bacon, 1 tsp margarine, 1 glass whole milk.... still truckin' thru it

Mel, sorry to hear about the foot cramps. ouch! Hope you figure a way to help that...maybe you can track down what is causing it and figure out a routine for stretching or

Rabbit, I know all about the superfun absent parent routine. I've learned to just nod and smile, let my boy enjoy it. My ds sees his dad in a good light, and that certainly makes for happier childhood memories than the alternative.

Birch, my weight is up too. The last few days of work have been long days, and food has been crap, plus no gym. Too many late, late nights and being too exhausted to wake up on time. Finally dragged my sorry self out of bed on time this morning, and will make it to the gym. Back POP today with the food, too. Actually, it's good, because once the bloat from the sodium and carbs washes out, I should see a good whoosh on the scale. I'm pretty sure the workouts/soreness will be bad this week, though, and probably next week.

Anyway, I'm off to the gym. to everybody!

Good morning! I'm here! First I had no 3FC for three days, then I went on vacation... I'm now back from my three day anniversary trip to the mountains, where I did no formal exercise and drank lots of wine. Back to the real world today! I did exercise 18 of the 21 days prior to the trip, so felt okay taking a few days off. Got in a run at the park when I got home last night and feel pretty good.

Rabbit - I'm sorry about the holiday drama with XH, and I know how you feel about them doing all the fun family holiday activities. I'm on the other side, DH's ex has the birthday party, always has Christmas morning, etc.

Cheryl - good job getting back POP with the food! It is hard to get back in the swing after a break...

Sacha - everything I read says something different about weights while pregnant. Hard to decide which way to go I imagine. Hope the morning sickness passes soon.

Birch - glad you are feeling better!

Mel - ouch on the foot pain! Better today?

Pat - cold up there! Wow! Swimming sounds like fun.

Planning on some weight training after work. Don't know if I'll try the three day split again this week or if I'll try for a total body workout of some kind. Will figure it out. Lots going on this weekend and net week, so we'll see.

Good day everyone!

Hey ladies, I finally made it to the gym this morning!

Today was an easy one:
1 Rope Climb
20 AbMat Sit-ups
5 rounds

I decided to do ladders instead, even though I knew it would take me longer than rope climbs, because my shoes have styro and plastic on the insoles (read SUCK for trying to grip the rope!), plus I just learned to climb the ladder, and wanted to see if I could do that 5 times. My time was 9 something, just about the slowest time, but I was still happy, since I was able to do all the ladder climbs!

After the workout, I left my van there, and got my dog Gracie out for a scooter run. Today was the start of our personal challenge to run the Iditarod mileage in one year. Some folks in our scooter club have been doing this, and I thought it sounded like fun, plus a good motivator to get me past the "gee, I should run my dog...maybe tomorrow" stage. So, 4 miles down, only 1045 to go.

Food was almost on plan today. I cooked up 4 salmon fillets at lunch time, figured one for lunch, one for the boy, two left over to get me through dinner and lunch tomorrow. Didn't work out like that. My sister showed up just when they were finished cooking, and pulled out her sad "usual" of dried up overcooked meat (her dh likes to cook, but he cooks things to death then adds about 40 pounds of table salt...blech) and cheese, so I offered her one, then my boy asked for seconds, and it's so hard to get him to eat real food willingly, so there went my dinner. Ended up with dinner being a half turkey sandwich my other sister gave to me, while I was at her house picking up the truck. At least that is done!

Morning everyone!

Another busy day ahead today, and then it's the WEEKEND!!!

I did do my 1 hour cardio at the gym yesterday, non-stellar but done. Biking to work did not happen: I was feeling overwhelmed because I also had to run groceries, so I took the car & grocery shopped on my way home. Today is aother day of course, so sitting in a room all day & no WO. I'll have to make up tomorrow, and maybe I can throw in 30 mins elliptical in front of the TV tonight or run on the treadmill a bit.

Shannon- the holiday sounded fine!
Cheryl - Good for you to be back at the gym!
Pat- BRRRR!. It is about 14 C here today. Mucho mucho better than freezing..
Lydia, Sacha

I have got a real interesting book from amazon: Muscle medicine. I find it a fascinating read about how the bones, the joints & the muscle work together, and the good thing is the book also covers a lot of issues re sore joints etc and gives tips on stretching & exercise so that the pais of muscles stay in balance.

Have a great day all,
Rabbit

Grrr, less than 7 hours of daylight now. I've had the blahs for a week or so now, and been doing on the bare minimum on things at home/work. I've not been to the gym since last Sat. I've given myself til tomorrow to get over this. I have to go to a work meeting in the morning (yes, on Sat - boo, hiss) and when it's over I'm going to the gym! Plus I got a call yesterday about a series of 6 or 8 adult swimming lessons (more like coaching, as they take all levels) over the last 2 weeks of December, so I'm signing up for that for a change in cardio.

Thought you'd all like to see the large bull moose that was hanging around midtown Anchorage yesterday. Moose Photos This is an impressive moose even to those of us used to seeing moose on a regular basis!

Good job back to the gym Cheryl. Too bad about your salmon, but it went to a good cause, eh?

Hope you can get your exercise in Rabbit!

Pat - I did your Day 1 workout from your PN program last night. Wowza. You rock doing those workouts every week.

Cheryl - If my DSS would eat salmon I would cook it every day. Workout sounds great.

Rabbit - book sounds interesting. I might have to check it out.

I'm supposed to be doing a 5k tomorrow, that is if I can walk again. Pat's workout wore me out a little.

Good day everyone!

Oh yeah, day 1 (whole body) of this last session was a killer! We're on a week of choose your own, which as I noted in maintenance, I seem to have taken as don't do anything. I have to decide what to do tomorrow. I might do a NRLW workout for a change, or Day 2, which is a lower body workout and not such a killer as day 1.

Hope the 5K goes well Shannon.

That's quite a moose! I guess I should stop complaining about the herd of deer in my yard. I once stalked a moose in northern Quebec for some fabulous photographs of the moose feeding in a lake at sunset. After I told others about it, I was informed I was crazy and lucky to be alive. Apparently they have been known to charge locomotives.

Cheryl- glad you got back to the gym. We eat a LOT of salmon...probably not as much as Pat.

I just spent a few minutes on Amazon ordering some of the books you ladies have suggested. I bought a Cara Black novel, a Val McDermod book and another book recommended by a friend, called "Loving Frank" about Frank Lloyd Wright and his mistress.

Tonight's WOD was different. First of all, there were only 2 of us there: me and a guy slightly but not much younger, who is the girls lacrosse and field hockey coach and phys ed teacher at a local hs. I've known him for years. He used to regularly belittle me and my teams when I coached summer lax leagues for my dh. It was justified in that I didn't have a clue, but not very nice. He's a lot nicer now. It was fun having just the two of us, but the workout was YUCK! 75 reps of power snatch. 75 reps for time. A 10 minute workout can be amazingly brutal and I was slow. There was a guy's time posted from the morning: 3 minutes

This weekend will be a cooking and cleaning marathon!

Have a good one,
Mel

Good evening. Working off some frustration so did day 3 of Pat's PN workout. I know I'm not supposed to do two days in a row, I took it easy... I do however need a sub for cable push-pull, as I only have one machine with a cable now.

Now I'm going to go have a snack and probably fume some more.

Hi all,

Pat- I hear you on the darkness. I'm having trouble keeping myself out of the blue. it is far too easy to slip into a funk in this time of year. I used a lightbox before, but I think my recent flunk is just stress.

Lydia - are you lurking? Is the lightbox working out for you?

Mel - ouch on the workout. Glad to hear the wo partner turned nicer.

I find there are a lot of guys around that lord themselves over their surroundings. I try to avoid these as much as possible, but not always succesfully. They do not seem to have a clue how obnoxious they are. I had a run in with some of those 2 weeks back when I asked a father assisting his small daughter in the ladies dressingroom at the gym to leave. He did not want to go and told me jokingly that fathers were not considered men in that respect. I do not care for the joke, I truly do not want to use the dressingroom when I find several men there, and I do not care for their ideas why this is a good idea to them. They can wait for their daughters outside. I want to be able to shower and dress after a workout.

Cheryl,Shannon - good for you to be exercising again!
Shannon - what's with the frustration?

I'll have to do a lot this weekend: catch up with the WO yesterday and engavge in the ususal cooking-cleaning-laundry-grocery shopping marathon. I miight get in a yoga wo to get the kinks out of my body from sitting in class from 9 - 18 yesterday all day.

Have a great day all,
Rabbit
