Default Supplement Question

Does anyone have any experience with creatine? Pro/Con? Also, DH came home with "Muscle Milk." I'm not familiar with either of these. Generally, I'm pretty conservative by nature (a multivitamin and protein powder are cutting-edge for me), but it's been a long time since I lifted weights, so my knowledge is definitely not be current.

Thanks!

Muscle Milk is GREAT for gaining mass- but read the label- it's really high is everything, particularly carbs and fat. It's a real favorite of guys who are trying to bulk. Personally, I'd run from it. It does taste good, though!

I have never taken creatine, but know quite a few women who have. The results are mixed. It's a cell volumizer- basically it helps your muscles retain water. This helps with muscle growth and healing. In some women, it makes their entire bodies retain water and bloat. Your decision to try it again comes down to personal goals- if your goal is muscle hypertrophy and bodybuilding maybe you want to try it. If your goal is fitness, I think it's kind of a waste and could backfire.

The other use for creatine is in cases of muscle wasting. I have seen it used successfully to help the frail elderly put on a pound or two of precious muscle.

Thanks for the info, Mel. I really appreciate it!! I think I'll avoid both at the moment because packing it on (calories or water) doesn't sound attractive right now. BTW: I know it's on the other thread, but I hope your new job works out for you.

Kylie.
