I don’t think I ever made it far enough up the rope for the fall to be anything worrisome. I still don’t think I could make it too far. I have a friend back in LA who teaches aerial tissue a la Cirque du Soleil, that’s like rope climbing gone extreme! Very impressive.
Cindy – Your story about your gym teacher announcing your weight to the whole class just brought up a memory of a humiliating incident when I was in middle school (seems to be no shortage of those, huh?). I was at a restaurant with my family and they had some special where kids 12 and under “pay what they weigh”. Well lucky me, I was 12 and got to step on the scale, and the hostess actually wrote down my weight (150) and put in on a sticker on my shirt, I presume so the wait staff knew what to charge. Sure $1.50 is plenty cheap for a meal, but how humiliating! My siblings all had a great time making fun of me all evening (they each cost under a buck). Ugh, people really need to be more sensitive! Good work with the biking Rabbit! I’d love to get a bike when things warm up here. I probably can’t afford anything new right now, maybe I’ll hold out till I can. HR – Yay, another C25K person! It has really made running bearable for me, which is shocking because I always had the same reaction nelie did whenever running was required in gym class. :p I’m actually going to be running my first “official” 5k tomorrow at an American Cancer Society Run/Walk event. I signed up kind of last minute (this morning) but I’ve been bowled over with the support I was able to raise in such a short period of time. Hoping all goes well, it should be nice running weather tomorrow. Have a great weekend all! |
Good for you Shannon. When I did C25K the first time, I ran 3 5Ks that summer, and was able to run the whole way in the second and third ones. This time I'm having a lot of trouble esp with my knees, which is not a huge surprise to me, so I don't know if I'll ever be able to run that far again without walk breaks. I can walk a long time though. :) We have 3 hours of training for half-marathon tomorrow. It's amazing how much people will support you isn't it? I needed to raise $1,800 for the half, and with still 2 months to go, I have raised over $2,500!

Hey Shan:wave:
I just wanted to wish you good luck this morning in your first 5k! Let us know how much fun you had! |
Shahanagins, I hope you have a great 5k today!! That is awesome.
Happy weekend everyone. Looks like we are going to get some rain. Hopefully it will clear up for my long run tomorrow. |
Thanks for your well wishing everyone! I had a great time, what a fun event. That's me at the finish line, approximate time of 34 minutes. :)

Update: I just checked and they’ve posted official times. Mine was 32:31. Guess I started out a bit further back in the crowd than I thought, the ticker was a bit past 34 minutes when I passed the line. That averages to about at 10 ½ min mile, better than I thought :D

CONGRATS!!!!!! You look so awesome crossing the line!

:yay: Yeah Shan :yay: I am SOOOOO proud of you. And inspired, and excited, and, and, Great job. Thanks for the Sunday morning inspiration. Your photo looks awesome. You just look so happy. I think you could have immediately run another 5k after that right? Now, rest yourself today girl. ;) |
Shan ... Great job ! I cannot imagine myself doing a 5k, but you guys are positively inspiring!
Today "I cannot move up or down", as my sister says. I have been busy with house work: it was useasonabley warm this weekend ( 25 C !!!) and I had to work on my pool. I procrastinated much, cleaning out the shed, but finally got myself to start install the new UV unit that I bought. But to do one thing, you have to finish another first...sigh. I have cleaned out & rearranged 2 sheds, trimmed back shrubbery & put in some tiles for underfoor, changed the sand in the sand filter (gruesome job! These bags of sand weigh in at 45 lbs !!! and the filter thingy itself is very large and unwielding. I had to take out the old sand (used it under the tiles) and put in 3 new bags). And before I could do that, I had to put in the pump and the valve again. Fortunately, I had lots of help from DS and especially DD, and a friend who also uses the pool in summer came over and helped with the UV tube. I still have a couple of hours work to go, but I called it a day. I am tired, and I am sore everywhere, and I am very glad for all the muscle that I gained lifting. I have no idea how I would cope with the bags of sand, and hauling the pump out and all the other chores ! And I am proud of how far we have come, and how lucky I am to have so much help around. I'll finish up tomorrow or the day after. No biking tomorrow, i have to reteurn 1 bag of samd to the store & get some extra parts. Also not on tuesday because I'll go to the fysiotherapist..so that will be wednesday before I bike again! hi to hr, pat, lydia & all the other LWL, you are so inspiring me to keep on moving and to work out. have a great day all.
