Hi LWL,

Zoom by post.
Very busy day today, much work stress, BUT... the sun shone, the Kids have easter holiday, I am off for the easter weekend, AND I biked to and from work today (1.5 hour, must count for something) and..., most exciting, although my weight has not changed and is maybe even a bit up, I noticed when i stayed on the scale a bit longer today that my BF% appeared to have dropped!!! I was down from 31 % to 29 %, but today I was in the 23% !!! I hope it's not a measurement fluke.
Yay for magic bathroom tiles!

Have a great day all,
Rabbit

elisa822 04-05-2007 02:13 PM

Rabbit - yay for the magic tiles is right! Although for me sometimes they're magically evil! ;)

As I said in my previous post, I've had a bit too many family dinners this week and I was thinking I had put on a couple of pounds. I knew I could lose it but I was still feeling bad about it. But, since I can't stay away from the scale, I got on today and I was only up 1 lb. from last week. I'm pretty happy about that so I'm making sure to stay on track...even though it feels like winter out today and I can't even get to the gym. :( Time to grab those dumbells and get something done!

OT question...I had an interview today and I'm not sure what to do. I'm not really looking to change jobs but a headhunter called and the position sounded good and I figured going for an interview is always good to keep you up on what's out there. So I went and the job does sound really good but thinking about it more, I realized that for now at least, I'm happy where I am and that this probably isn't the right time to change jobs. Since I want to keep my options open with the headhunter and not burn bridges at the other company for the future(here comes my question) I am not sure how to handle it. I think it's best to say something like what I just said to the headhunter now, rather than going further in the process. Even if they wanted to bring me back for a second interview, and I don't know about that yet, I don't want to waste anyone's time. I think that it would be worse to continue on in the process and then drop out later. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks for listening.

:D

Mel 04-05-2007 05:18 PM

Elisa- Yes, that does sound like a better choice than going for a second interview, potentially getting an offer, and having your current employer get wind of the whole thing. BUT...you've been posting for the last few weeks about how stressed you are. Is this job related stress? Are you really happy or just too stressed to consider change?

If you really don't want to change jobs, I'd tell the headhunter that you are immensely flattered to be considered, but after reassessing you current position you realize that you are happy there and that there is still opportunity for career growth in your current position...blah blah blah. And thank them, then give them a timeframe for recontacting you. ;)

It's snowing here. :( Two days ago it was 75 and everything started blooming. This is sooooo depressing. Might as well be Michigan or Alaska

I did a long back workout then long cardio, and suddenly realized I had a dentist appointment in 15 minutes 10 minutes away. Did the world's fastest cleanup job, then spent the next 45 minutes getting my teeth cleaned. At least my hygenist is a martial arts instructor and workout fanatic also, so she wasn't horrified!

Hiker: Hahaha! Congrats on that momentary hang at the top of the pullup bar :D

Lydia: My calves hardly every get sore. The last time I remember was hiking downhill for 5 hours in boots that were too big. Oh- haha, I forgot the 1 mile sprint a few weeks ago. OK, my calves were sore from that, but so were my ankles, knees, hips, and lower back.

Elisa- For triceps, I like to do rope overhead cable extensions, skull crushers, pushups on a medicine ball, dips on 2 medicine balls, close-grip chest presses and more dips (hands on a bench, feet straight out on a stability ball).

Hi Shan, Pat, Rabbit, Melinda! Where are you for your vacation?

Mel

sportmom 04-05-2007 05:40 PM

Mel, I thought it was the blooms blowing off the cherry trees and when they just kept on blowing sideways for about 5 minutes, I realized it was indeed SNOW!

We lost our patio set last nite. DD's had extended the umbrella up during the warm weather the last few days when they were eating outside. Sometime in the middle of the nite last nite, a gust of wind carried the whole shebang away. We don't know where the umbrella even is, our tabletop is SHATTERED all over the back yard, and all that remains is the frame. Sigh - I don't even why we try around here any more. It's like living in a wind tunnel & I hate it.

Trying to stay sane while I deal with spring break kids & working. Can't take time off bc of it being project time, so I try the best I can to still give them some fun (trips to library, etc) while I still work. Thank goodness for the hotspots in the public library where I can work and they can play.

elisa822 04-05-2007 06:55 PM

Mel - thanks for the advice and basically confirming my gut instincts about the job. As for the stress I've been under, it comes and goes. Work is usually not too bad but I recently changed positions (to cover a maternity leave) and was doing two jobs. On top of that, I'm working towards an accounting designation and the amount of work can be unbelievable. Then there was some family obligations as well. So, recently it was sort of a one-two-three punch that was taking me over the edge! Things should be much better now. And to answer your question more succintly, I usually quite like my job. The people are nice, the work is okay, my boss is a decent guy, my hours are good and I get to go to the gym at lunch so all in all, why leave now?

Back on topic...I did a mini UBWO with my dumbells so that was good.

And thanks for the tricep exercises. I do some of those but could probably switch it up a bit (bought some tank tops yesterday ;) )

Fran - sorry about the patio set. Mine hasn't been set up yet...maybe a good thing considering the weather today. We had a tiny bit of snow in the morning but then it was just freezing and blowing all day. Nothing has stuck but it's not really the april weather that I hope for. How's the C25K going? Are you still on the program?

:D

Hah! It's 42 and sunny here at 3:30 pm. :) Okay, so I still have at least 2 ft of snow all over my yard... at least my deck is clear.

As a director of a public library with free wireless connection, let me say "you're welcome" for all of us. :D We see more and more folks with their laptops. They just come in and set up (often by an outlet!) so quietly that I often just come upon them in a quiet corner.

I've two employee evaluations to do this week. Did the first this afternoon, which was the harder one, so I'm feeling much less stressed. At least I have staff that takes these pretty well, even if they're not all positive. I've worked hard to get a good mix of personalities and skills over the last 5 years and I think it's finally paid off. At least until the next resignation.

shananigans 04-06-2007 10:00 AM

Fran, that’s too bad about your patio set. Spring appears to have left us for the time being in WI as well. It’s been windy and cold for the last few days, but at least the rain has stopped! There’s still standing water in lots of places, any more and I’m sure flooding would become a real issue.

Very quiet in the office today, lots of folks are taking Good Friday off. I think I shall use this opportunity to slip over to the Nike store at the outlet mall during lunch and get myself some badly needed running shoes and a new sports bra.

Heading up to the folks place tomorrow with df and the dog for Easter weekend. I think I’m going to make a seitan loaf tonight so I have some form of lean protein available and don’t just gorge myself on candy. Maybe I’ll try and bring some sort of healthy sugar-free dessert as well. My dad’s a diabetic so I’m sure he’d appreciate that too.

Kickboxing and UBWO on the exercise agenda for tonight, breaking in the new running shoes before we hit the road tomorrow. :D

Quick stop...

I have an announcement... I have collarbones :)

Last night was pretty good. I did an upper body (back, biceps, shoulders, abs) workout followed by dinner followed by 25 minutes on the elliptical. After my post elliptical workout, I took a shower and when I came out of the shower, I noticed I had visible collarbones.

DH chose Red Robin as his eating out choice for this weekend. That isn't too bad. I think I'm going to get a lettuce wrap garden burger without cheese/mayo and a salad instead of fries. Last time I had a garden burger and it was sooo good.

sportmom 04-07-2007 10:17 AM

Nelie, we usually go to Red Robin each Saturday after the kid's sports. They have good kid meal choices and I usually get the grilled/bbq'd chicken in a spinach tortilla wrap. The only disconcerting this is that RR has NO nutritional info on their website, so that always makes you wonder, but hey. They also have nothing to substitute for the fries, except for a sad side salad cup which comes with shredded tortilla chips on top - LOL!! But we love it just the same........

nelie 04-07-2007 10:22 AM

Fran,

I usually remove the tortilla strips and just eat the salad with salsa on top. I am also thinking eating out once a week will help zig zag my calories a little plus give DH his little eat out treat.

Lydia227 04-07-2007 12:12 PM

Hey everyone:wave:

Real quick, I've got bread rising so I can't stay. I just wanted to say :bravo: NELIE! Collarbones!;)

Okay. Got to go. DS2 is walking downstairs with a darthvader helmet on. We are all in trouble...

hikerchick 04-07-2007 01:23 PM

Go collarbones.

Just popping in to say hi. Had a nice slow mellow job today. Kind of just for fun. End of stressful week.

4rabbit 04-08-2007 04:23 AM

hi LWL,

HAPPY EASTER!!!
Bright & sunny day today. The scale is, unfortunately, up, but I am not going to get stressed over thet. Too much stress in the past week, good excercise but bad food choices. Yesterday & the day before my sister and BIL came & helped painting in my hall and my carport...it looks so nice now! This house is really in the total remake mode since XH moved out, and is much much roomier, sunnier & good for it.

Unfortunately I'll have to do some work for the office over the easter weekend, so I'll better get going. What are you all up too ?

Nelie - Collarbones ! Good for you!

Have a great easter all,
Rabbit

sportmom 04-08-2007 01:10 PM

Hi all you easterbunnies!! Wow, first time in like.........my whole life......that the easter candle has absolutely no appeal! Maybe I'm just too lazy to deal with all the little foil wrappers, but nope, real food is what I want now!! Bring on the nutrient dense variety.

You'll love this (and esp. Lydia) but I was actually craving the grilled chicken at Bob Evans yesterday, and so that's what we chose for our meal out! I was literally CRAVING the broccoli and potato that comes with the meal. Gosh, eating healthy is so easy once you start doing it.

Yeah. :dunno: I find them a little waxy myself. But here's a hint, don't eat the bunnies with the wicks! :lol3:

Craving broccoli and baked potatoes. Fran, you are right. I can so appreciate how that happens. I find that I crave it even more when I don't have to prepare it myself.;) Eating out is a lot easier for me these days too. In the past when I was "dieting" I would just get so frustrated trying to choose something from the menu and account for it in my plan. Its so much easier now because I just look for the simpliest thing, grilled chicken, nonstarchy veg and maybe a plain baked potato. The waitstaff always seem to act sad for me when I request it this way but I really just don't even want the "special cheese sauce" anymore. :) Deep fried and special sauce vs. my favorite jeans and a fitted sleeveless shirt. :chin: Not a tough choice. ;)

Hope everyone is having a great afternoon. I am looking forward to my workout tomorrow. It's my first session with a personal trainer in over a year. And boy, do I have a list. Look out...
