Pat, yikes!... glad to here you are ok.

Welcome Amy!

Lydia that sounds like such fun and congrats on such amazing progress in a year!

So like Mel I am having a blah day. (big hug to you by the way) No asparatame to blame though. Just one of those days I suppose.

The one bright light was when I went for my run this morning this little old lady was out walking the hill in her walker and she said "you have really lost weight" I said thanks and she said "I see you every day running up this hill and walking with your daughter and I see how much weight you've lost and I think 'thats how she did it'" It was such a nice thing to say and really just what I needed to hear. I was kind of feeling like you couldn't really tell. Its nice to get outward recognition for my efforts.

So that perked me up momentarily. I have managed to get a half hearted workout in but I am kind of out of steam today. Maybe I am coming down with something.

Anyhow hi all!

Hey, y'all! Hope the week is starting out good for everyone (no accidents, positive PT, and faboo classes)!

I just wanted to share the fact that I have turned a heck of a corner! Over the weekend, I bought The Body Sculpting Bible for Women instead of chocolate bunnies. Frankly, I'm still stunned. How's that for commitment??? (grin)

Seriously, though, I felt like I was slipping in a rut and needed a change. So, this morning was the first day of the first 2 week phase. I haven't done anything like these combination sets before and it was mighty interesting.

I'm concerned that I'm not doing the squats right. I THINK I'm doing it like the picture shows, but I can't really tell. The only people who are around when I am working out are the PTs who are working with their clients. I just need to get up the courage to ask one of the gym people, knowing my luck I'd probably grab the kid who actually works at the juice bar!

silverose1209 04-09-2007 11:02 PM

Well the Body pump class has already been described..Though I have yet to take it. I am doing really bad with motivation the last few days...UGH...I work nights ar home so I sleep weird hours and its hard to get myself up to go to a class. I worked last night. I did not go to sleep til noon. Got up around 9 pm> I am going to go to teh gym in a little while and do some weights and cardio.
Then I will work for a few hours.
Thanks everyone for the welcomes...:) I will learn your names soon...
Oh I hvae the Body sculpting bible for women. Are you going to follow the plans in it?
So question...what are your favortite in the gym cardio routines? I am getting bored and want to make sure I do keep things switched up. Right now I mainly do 45 minutes on teh elliptical using the preprogrammed cardio routines....

Hi, Amy!
I thought I'd give the routines in the book a shot. I've heard others mention the different type of sets, so I wanted to give them a try. I'll let you know how it goes. As far as cardio, I have an exercise bike at home and I do intervals for 20 minutes. I'm intrigued by the spinning classes, but I'm still pretty intimidated, so I periodically lurk by the studio door and glanced in!

Good morning gals! I'm here, just struggling a bit from Easter - DF brought 1/2 price goodies into the house Sunday, and things got a bit out of control! I'm working to get everything cleared out...

The good news for me this week is that yesterday I DID LUNGES! This is exciting for me, because it's the first time I've been able to do them, pain free, since I injured my knee back in early March. And, boy am I sore today! Guess there is a reason to do that exercise! I've been trying to do glutes/quad using the elliptical on a very high incline while I was recovering, but I guess that just wasn't really working my legs very much.

Pat - I am so glad you didn't get hurt, but sorry about your car.

Hello to everyone else - need to run, but just wanted to pop in say Hi!
Cindy

nelie 04-10-2007 09:57 AM

Pat - Sorry to hear about your car but good thing you weren't hurt.

Cindy - I've been incorporating lunges into my workouts as well and the first time I did them recently, my butt hurt for 4 days. Ow! Tonight is a leg workout for me with lunges and other such :)

Not too much from me today other than I did an elliptical workout last night. I reached the 240s this morning which amazes me. I think I'm still in shock.

Nellie wow you have had a great couple of weeks. Way to go!

Glad your knee is feeling better Cindy. I have had knee problems in the past (knocking on wood that they wont come back) and it is no fun and its always a very good thing when they go away.

I am figuring out that sometimes just going through the motions is enough. I was so half hearted yesterday about exercise but I still did what needed to be done and i am sore today for it. Yay!

I found a way to do assisted chin ups tell me what you think. I have a small wooden kids stepstool. I put one leg on it and try to keep my weight off of that leg as much as possible.

It seems to work pretty well. Though I feel like a wimp when I do it. Still I see all those muscles bulging out and I know I am working hard so I kind of feel good about that.

BF monitor went to a low of 37.5% yippee... I suppose. I am a bit unnerved by the high BF% that it is giving me. It is underscoring the fact that I am fast approaching a healthy BMI.

Kind of hard to feel good about a healthy BMI when your little scale tells you that you are "obese" 75% of the time.

Oh well progress has been made "I think I can I think I can...."

BfL_Cat 04-10-2007 12:40 PM

Woo-hoo Nelie! :woohoo:

Mel 04-10-2007 03:23 PM

:bravo: nelie!!!!

WaterRat 04-10-2007 05:02 PM

Neli - 240's! That's great! You've had a good couple weeks.

Hiker, you're sounding a little more "up" today. Loved the comments from the little lady in the walker.

 to the rest of you.

I'm back on wheels, in a rented Ford Focus - way too small and low to the ground for this SUV driving gal! But it's transportation and not costing me anything. I'm hoping to know what the insurance co is going to do with my car later today.

I did get outdoors and do my cardio training in our neighborhood last night. A little muddy/puddlely in places, but I had my old trail runners on. :)

Hello from the frozen north! Snowing here, drove to work in near whiteout and winter advisory in effect till 7am tomorrow. :tantrum:

Got a run in last night before the wind kicked up and the flakes started falling, I’m up to 25 min jogging now. Hopefully in a couple weeks I’ll be back to where I was (30 min) before winter started. Need to do some upper body tonight, maybe I’ll get some pilates in there too.

nelie – Congrats on all your recent success. 140s, collarbones! :yay:

Pat – Too bad about your car, but glad you are not hurt!

Hope everyone is having a good day, and hopefully enjoying more spring-like weather.

Oops! I meant congrats on the 240's. That must have been my subliminal mind dreaming of my 140 goal. :dizzy:

nelie 04-11-2007 10:52 AM

Thanks everyone :) Shan, you'll get there :)

Last night, I did walking lunges through my apartment. They were fun and I did other various leg workouts. My legs are a bit sore today :) I also did my ellptical for 25 minutes.

Yesterday, I was actually having a munchie day. I really wanted to munch. I let myself have an extra snack but I was pretty much under control. I almost thought my current motivation was trying to leave me but then I figured an extra munchy day doesn't mean I've lost motivation.

Hi LWL,

Pat - a ford focus ? That is considered a decent family car around these parts!

Nelie - yay on the 240's !

Hikerchick - little old ladies tell the truth!

Not much news from here! Biked to work yesterday & today, no furthewr excercise but that still chalks up 2 x 1.5 hours. And I find that I really crave sugar when I get home. Something must be happening to the body. Also, I am sleepy when I get home, but it gets better after i have lied down for about half an hour.

yesterday I went to town with the kids, went to some shops 9books, maily), grabbed a bite to eat and a movie. it was fun. Tomorrow their holiday is over.

Have a great day all,
rabbit
