I'm still here as well, still plugging away with diet and exercise despite the scale going the wrong direction due to that monthly water gain. Ick. Yesterday was the first day of school at the universities I caption for -- kind of a wash out as far as the students go as they were having connection problems, plus one school is in the hurricane zone and all classes are cancelled today and tomorrow.

I'm in a bit of an emotional funk -- yesterday one of the agencies I work for offered me an assignment that would have lasted until mid-December that would basically amt. to full-time work and would pay $30 an hour more than the work I already accepted at the above-mentioned schools. Unfortunately the work at the Florida schools conflicts, time-wise, with the new work so I had to turn most of it down. OUCH! The woman who gave me the assignment with the Florida schools is a friend of mine so I really can't screw her over and leave her in the lurch -- she had a lot of trouble finding enough people to cover the schedule as it was -- not to mention it would be EXTREMELY unprofessional. No matter how tempting it might be. :sigh: Oh well, I do believe in Divine Justice so somewhere along the way it will balance out ...

Exercised two days in a row today. August has been my best month ever as far as exercising -- making a REAL personal committment made a huge difference. Thanks to everyone for being here!

Personal exercise goal for August: 675/500

Default Anyone else with this problem?

I've got my eating under control (for now). When I eat cookies, I make sure it's a 100 cal pack or that it amounts to 100 calories. The problem is my exercise. I was going for daily walks (those 6 milers) with my mom but since it's been incredibly rainy and humid, I haven't gone out in the past two days. We have a treadmill at home (gym's closed) but I haven't had the inclination to work out. Blah. Anyone else feel blah about exercise when it's not nice out? I know I have to give myself a .

Ladyinredd, I'm the type that would have expected my friend to understand an opportunity at alot of extra income. The almighty $$ speaks volumes to me in the corporate world. For me it should never be personal, we all gotta do what we gotta do.

Stevi - I'm teaching and I gots a class to take that involves writing (HATE.To.Write.) plus don't forget my rats. Mm hmm. Not gonna be fun. I'll still log in for you guys though. You'll be high on my list of priorities!

Desi girl - I didn't want to discourage you but count me in on the "that's a lot of weight in a very short time" bandwagon. Remember to take it slow and steady and be healthy...that makes you look years younger!

I think I'll give myself a kick in the butt. Achieving that should count as my workout for the day.

Hi ladies,

I am having just the opposite problem. Exercise is still very consistent. Still working out 5 days a week. For me its my eating. I feel so hungry lately and I worried that I am getting out of control. I just feel like those bad habits are creeping up on me again. So I need a swift kick as it relates to the eating part.

Donna- What a situation to be in. I do agree with Stevi though, that sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. Good Luck, sounds like you're gonna be really busy.

Sunni-Sounds like you're gonna be crazy busy too. Good luck with you're classes and we will be here for you when you get a chance to chat.

Fatdesichick-Welcome!

Stevi-Sounds like you're on a roll again. 6lbs in two weeks is awesome. Congrats again on the 50lbs lost. Had to laugh about the losing the boobs. I didn't have much to start with and since losing 30lbs there's hardly anything there. I told my husband the other day that pretty soon they would be indented.
Can't wait to see photos of the beach. Sounds like you guys had a great time.

Talk to you all later.

Sunni, I *never* like to exercise, no matter what the weather's like. The only way I can get myself to do it is to do it first thing in the morning. If I allow myself to eat breakfast, go on the computer, start reading a book, ANYTHING, it never gets done. Joining the August exercise challenge helped me a lot, though -- I was more consistent that I imagined I could be! I just (gulp) posted a goal for September that is almost twice as many minutes! We'll see if I make it!

Lady - if you need ways to cheat, call me! The way I see it, you're over your august mins already so use the bonus to add to your sept. goal and um... no problem! Hehe...I know that cheating gets us nowhere...I was just kidding around.

Angel - indented!!! I've lost some boobage as well. I'm still the same cup size but at least my cup doesn't runneth over like it did a few months ago, if you know what I mean... I'd like to keep it too but I think by the end of my journey, it's going to go down one. SIGH.

I was just reading the thread about men losing faster than women and not working [too hard] at it...SERIOUSLY what's up with that? Grrr... One more reason to hate 'em. Haha...

Today was my first day without diet pills and it feels good. All i had today was a piece of pizza(my husband was eating right in front of me i could not control myself) and 4 crackers with RF PB. Oh yeah and lots of water.

I am starting the SLIMFAST DIET tommorow but just the shakes.

Today was a lousy day as far as weather is concerned all rain and no shine and so drepressing and it makes you want to EAT . I tried and i think it was not bad today.

Cracking up over the "boobage" Seriously I would love to lose some of mine but that never seems to happen! And I know even if I did lose part of it, the firmness of my 20's and 30's is gone forever :sniff: Ah well, be grateful for the fact my knees aren't hurting any more and looking better -- at least while my clothes are on!

And I got up and exercised today! And I cannot tell you how much I did not want to -- I'm a little sore from yesterday -- guess I did something right!

You know Meg's post (somewhere around here - too lazy to search) said that soreness is not a good measure of exercise, meaning you don't have to get sore to have an effect. I have such trouble wrapping my head around that idea...if you're not sore, how are you doing *anything* to your muscles? Soreness means they were worked and now they're repairing themselves and using stored fat in the process. I also judge the quality of my workouts with the soreness I get. If it's a lot, I think "YES! Those pounds are going to come off!" If there's nothing, I think "Crap, now I have to supplement today's workout with a jog or something." Hate doing extra. Mmph. Just my rant.

Another pity rant: It's official. Everyone in my workplace except me is engaged or married. I don't even have a bf. I feel like an old biddy.

Good Morning Ladies,

Sunni-It's funny you bring up the feeling about exercise. I'm kinda torn. Sometimes I feel like I get a really good workout and am sore the next day and other times when doing the exact same workout I'm not that sore. I just figure as long as I continue to keep moving, sore or not, I have to see results.
Also I think if I was so sore all the time that I would just land up throwing in the towel and saying forget it.

Also don't let the fact that everyone around you is engaged or married get you down. Just think of it like this. You just haven't found the perfect one yet. He's out there. Good things happen to those who wait.

Fatdesichick-good luck with the slimfast diet. that's awesome that you are trying this without the diet pills.

Donna-WTG on the exercising. You have really exceeded your goal for the month. Keep up the good work.

Gotta run for now.
Talk to you all later.

[B]Sunni:/B] I think it makes a difference whether we're talking about generic exercise or weight lifting. I am definitely NOT a member of the "no pain, no gain" school of thought. But the instructor does tell us in weight class lifting class that the idea is to exercise the muscle to the point of fatigue, to where you just don't think you can do another rep. And since the instructor was talking about, "oh, that's burning, can you feel it?" and *I* wasn't feeling a thing, I figured either I wasn't doing the exercise right, or I needed to up the weights a little bit. So I went from 3 lb. weights to 5 lb. weights for the chest exercises and, sure enough, woke up a little sore this morning. Not so much I'm not willing to do the weight class tomorrow, just enough so I know I've done something.

True. When I'm doing my walk, unless I'm speedwalking (not often), I don't feel sore in my legs. I'm trying to do tricep exercises but it's so hard for me to stick to weight training. For some reason, I just can't keep a 3 day a week rhythm. I have to do my exercise everyday otherwise I take "breaks". Bah. This is why I stick to walking/jogging. At least that I CAN do everyday, adjust my speed so that I'm not tiring myself out and feel like I've done something.
