I know exactly what you mean, daydreamer. I've been overweight since I was a kid so I don't know what a good weight will be for my frame, either. I'm just winging it, haha. I first thought 150 was a decent goal, now I'm thinking more like 140, but I'll just see what I'm working with when I get there.

Treasa, that's awesome about your old clothes fitting. That has to feel good to know you're in the best shape ever. Way to go!

Beeffective, how are you?

Yes, that makes sense. It sounds like maybe also part of it is figuring out what physically feels good to you combined with what your doctor confirms is going on as you progress. But try to find some comfort in whatever point you are at even now. You've got to find positive things in yourself to focus on besides just the number on a scale as you move through this process. Hitting a certain number won't fill a void that you can and need to address irrelevant of the number. Not saying you are overweight because you have all these voids in your life. Please don't misunderstand that. It's just important to be able to recognize all that is right or that you can influence in a direction that you want that has nothing to do with the number on the scale.

LetsGetFit = I'm doing really good on many levels. I am holding at 160.5 and honestly reached it more through diet than exercise. Will pick up the exercise again as the weather improves. Up until about 4 years ago, I was never overweight. I stayed pretty much around 125 without any effort. I absolutely have hated being overweight. One of the things I am looking most forward to is being able to buy sexy bra's again. I mean what the **** are all these bra's for overweight women? No floral, lace, etc. They're just ugly. I so want to wear beautiful bra's again just for the way it makes me feel - not that anyone else will need to know what I'm wearing. I just miss them.

I'm not new to 3FC, but new to this thread. Can we just call it 170something, since I haven't weighed in several months and judging from my clothes, I can realistically say I'm in the 170s, which is really , really depressing!
I haven't had to use this site in quite a while because I was much smaller and working out alot with a personal trainer. Then, life got very busy & here I am--larger than I've ever been, and I can't wear much of anything in my closet!

Just pathetic!!

I am preparing for a career change (2 interviews down) and just awaiting the final judgement call. And hopefully, I can get on a normal day shift schedule and off nights for good.

Very nice to meet all of you. I look forward to our chats together!
for each of you!

K9Owner - welcome!

DayDreamer26 - You have a list of things in your mind that you want to do but aren't doing because of your perception that your weight won't allow you to do them. And true maybe there are some things holding you back specifically because of your size. I want to offer you a challenge to consider doing. Stop and write down a very specific list of "what living life means to me". Be very specific and not general in what you list. Break the big general item into very specific sub-items. There are truly things that you can engage/accomplish "in living life" right now every single day that have nothing to do with your weight. Things you can do on your list right now that can impact your confidence in a positive direction. You don't need to post the list on here or anything. I'm just encouraging you to challenge your premise that living life/gaining confidence can only come after or from losing weight. I suspect there are a lot of fantastic qualities about you as well as opportunities you can embrace right now even in small steps that you can't see because you've developed tunnel vision by focusing only on the number on a scale. Separate living life from losing weight. Wow, I'd like you to find confidence in yourself through accomplishing both of these separately and not by one being conditional upon the other.

Of course, feel free to blow off my suggestion if you don't like it! No offense taken.

Glad you're doing well, BeEffective! Plus size bras are mostly awful, I found one type that I love, and now I am too small for those. So now I have to find the right bra for me all over again. So frustrating! I have also lost most of my weight through diet, but now I'm down to 1200 calories a day and it's time to really up my exercise if I want to keep my loss at a steady rate. I am trying beginner yoga and trying to get more committed to my basic daily exercises.

Daydreamer, in some ways it does suck to have been overweight my whole life. But in other ways, it has allowed me to feel kind of amazing about my transformation so far. Doing something for myself that I always deemed impossible has been very empowering for me. I can honestly say I have never been more proud of myself, and everyday I am more surprised and amazed by what I see in the mirror. And seeing how my body has changed and wondering what I will look like at 150 or 140 pounds has been fun and exciting. As for your post, you can definitely be skinny if you want it and work for it, forget what other people say. But do not wait to be skinny to live your life. Your life is going on whether you want it to or not, and if you are just waiting on the future, you will miss everything. Try to be present in your life now and enjoy the change you are making. Be proud!

K9owner, Welcome! Good luck with the interviews and I hope you get the new schedule you want. It sucks to get off track but you have lost it before and you can do it again!

Thanks for the welcome LesGetFit & BeEffective.

Yesterday, I worked overnight and I managed to eat 1800 cals! This is a pretty big deal, since I usually average 2500-3000 cals/day! If I can even cut 200 cals out/day, I'd consider it a WIN!

Last night was crucial at work. The team ordered and despite me taking a delicious veggie salad and consuming the whole thing, I still ate a slice! I wasn't really just hungry either. It was the fact that it was there and I was there and so, why not. I didn't really feel bad afterwards about eating it either. That's the bad part. Any other time I was trying to be OP, I would hate myself for eating b/c I LOVE it, but it is so high in fat, sodium, and calories!
I must change the way I think. That is the only way this will work for me.

Popping in to hopefully join in as well

As for the plus size bras - I've gotten to the point where I wear sports bras everyday because they're way more comfortable around the "back fat". I went to Victoria's Secret yesterday with my friend and omg, the bras were so nice (and so expensive ). Even though they had 1 or 2 in my size, I knew that my back fat would pop it right off

Welcome AP!
*Love the avi!!!*

I managed to force myself out of bed at 4:30pm and took my labs for a 50 minute walk. My legs were itching the whole time! Makes for an unpleasant cold walk. It's not so bad in the heat.

Good job, k9owner! Sounds like you are doing well with food and exercise, way to go!

Welcome, ap14!

Today I finally got a whoosh, current weight: 172.6, thank god. I've been stuck at 175 for quite a while.
