Good Morning ladies! I promised Jana I would peek in so here I am. I am posting on 4 other threads so I will probably get all confused so bear with me!
My name is Donna, I am 49, been married 30 years, have a single son, 29 and a married daughter, 25 and a scrumptious grandson, Thomas who is 2 1/2. I am morbidly obese, have to lose 220 and have lost 60 since Jan 6 of this year. If you noticed the latest news at the top of the forum, the AHA and I seem to be in sync LOL as I am pretty much on that diet. My "awakening" so to speak came when I was faced just a few months ago with the prospect of possibly having to use a cane or a scooter to get around in and that I WILL NOT DO! I realized I had sunk to the bottom and had to get my life in order once and for all. I use a 1600 cal/ 25% fat cal diet, am walking for the time being 3/4 miles twice a day religiously, and drink those gallons of water like everyone else. My first big goal is to lose 100 lbs by Sept when my dh is taking me to Vegas for my birthday! woohoo, I can't wait.
I want to congratulate all of you on your losses and remind you not to depend on the numbers on the scale too much. They can be a real downer sometimes. Concetrate on how those clothes feel more loose or how your exercising seems to be getting easier, etc. The lbs will come off!
Well, ladies, I am off to do my morning session, get my chores done and get my upstairs cleaned this morning. I am an OCD person and have my cleaning on a SCHEDULE if you can believe it. I am not sure what I would do if I messed up my own schedule!
Welcome Donna!!!! And congrats on your loss so far. You are doing a great job. Do you walk outside, or is this on a treadmill? Wherever it is, I'm proud of you.
Where is everyone else today?
I had a good day OP today and feel great about that, after messing up yesterday. Thank goodness for 0 point veggies. On a different note - one of the twins has a tooth! Finally! They are 8 months old now, and I was beginning to wonder if one would ever break through.
Welcome Donna! Congrats on the 60 lb weight loss!! It is a difficult feat but we can all do it when we put our minds to it!!
I have finally kicked this flu but now my family has it so I am catering to them with fluids fluids fluids and meds!! I haven't been up to much for cardio or anything for that matter but hoping to start it all soon as everyone is on the mend!
Donna: (that's my daughter's name!) I have read your posts on at least one other thread. You are amazing and an inspiration to all of us. Please continue to post here.
Julie: Sorry to hear about your bout with the flu for yourself and your family. I well remember the days when my children were growing up. It was like a rock rolled in front of my door in November and could not be moved so that I could see daylight until the Spring!
Jana: It's always good to hear from you.
Ladies: Spring is less than a month away. YOU CAN'T STOP SPRING! It's the beginning of all of those bright, shiny, out-of-the house weekends.
We got where we are from making wrong choices. We can get to where we want to be by making right choices, one right choice at a time.
Carree - you are so right! Spring is right around the corner, and as I sit here all snowed in, that is such a welcoming thought. Thanks for sharing it.
Julie - Hope things are better at your house, and I am so glad you are taking time to post with us.
Donna - yoo-hoo, where are you? Probably getting the exercises in. You're doing great, girl.
Hi to Kat and Ruth , too.
Well, ladies, it's weigh-in day, and as I fearfully stepped on the Iron Monster, I said a little prayer that my Wednesday slip-up wouldn't cause a set-back, and my prayers were answered. I have a 1/2 pound loss, for a total of 12 pounds. YAY!
Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't posted, but our tax return was deposited Friday morning and we went power shopping, then had to lug it all in, put everything together and play with it!
It rained 4 inches here yesterday. It was so bad I had to go to the mall to walk. I just barreled my way through. It was packed probably because of the rain, but I just kept the speed up and away I went. I really like mall walking because it is temp controlled, solid walking service and you can really go. It is just not as convenient and getting the ole tennies on and out the door and down the street.
thanks to all of you for your welcome and encouragement. One of the biggest things that has pumped me up about losing weight and staying OP is I have encouraged my obese sister and overweight sister to lose weight. My older sister started WW and has lost 16 lbs and the younger one is struggling, but she has thyroid issues including the meds and it is part of the problem I think. Keep Neita in your thoughts, please!
Well, I still have to post a bunch of places and get downstairs and unload and reload the decrepid dishwasher. My new beautiful white one is being installed Tues. Yahoooo!
Donna, I will keep Neita in my prayers. Good for you - having all new toys! You will love the new dishwasher, too. The newer ones have so much more room in them and double sprayers. I sure do like mine.
Somewhere along the line, I goofed up on the math of my weight loss. When I went to write it down and total it up, it comes out to 11 3/4 pounds lost instead of 12. So now I have set the record straight!
Schools are closed here again today following 6 new inches of snow. Enough is enough already!!!!!!!!!!! I can barely wait for Spring! At least I did make it to church yesterday, although the rest of the family stayed home - they have no sense of adverture! There were some pretty scary drifts, but I made it.
My dgs has a cold so is not going to Mother's day out so he and dd are coming to my house for lunch today instead of scrapbooking and I get to keep him tomorrow while she works! I had a neat thing happen to me yesterday, guys. I was gettng ready for church and was going to wear a skirt, sweater, and turtleneck. I went and got the turtleneck out of the closet and put it on and it fit fine except it was snug across the boobs. I told Jack that was weird and had him look at the tag. IT WAS HIS TURTLENECK AND AN XL! Made my day! My daughter has been down in the dumps so I made homemade chicken and noodles for lunch with yeast rolls for today. I am looking forward to their visit especially T.
Well, gotta go. I have my am exercise session in, but haven't showered or eaten breakfast and they are supposed to be here about 10.
Way to go on the shirt. NSV like that are wonderful, aren't they?
School is still closed today. Maybe DD will spend some time cleaning her room. Homemade chix and noodles sound sooo good. I'm sitting here eating breakfast as I type, but it doesn't compare to something yummy like that. I have to bake a cake today for a birthday party we are having tomorrow night.
Not much else is new. Have a good day Jaded Ladies, wherever you are.
Good morning to everyone! It is snowing and icy here this morning and a real mess!
No dishwasher for me today. The guy can't get off his country road to come and install it so the ole Smithsonian issue is gonna have to work for one more day I guess.
Man, if I knew that they weren't coming, my dd is not bringing dgs over for me to sit for and I can't go out until Jack gets home and then have to go to the mall to walk today, I could have slept in! I had a horrible night too! Oh, well, I am up now!
I have been trying to get my vet for 2 days and no one is answering the phone. It is a small clinic so I hope they haven't closed their doors. Guess we will have to go over there this afternoon and see what is going on.
Well, gotta finish all the posts and get downstairs. I am hungry and cold this morning!
Good morning! I am here just dragging around cleaning and disinfecting EVERYTHING! We had a rough week-end, I was well but Dh and DS were soo ill. DS ran a temp of 101 to 104.5 from Sat eve until Sun afternoon! Poor kiddo, he was in so much pain. I am sure the Dr. office had enough of me I was on the phone with them so often to make sure everything was okay but they kept telling me that this is what is going around and he'll get over it in about 4 days. So today he is only running a low-grade temp, phew!
I have had too much coffee and need something to eat so soak it up, I am starting the shakes LOL! As for excersise, well I think I am getting enough in from walking around cleaning and laundry!!!!!! I haven't weighed myself in so long, scale doesn't work and I need to pick one up.
Donna - Sorry about the dw - I know how the guy feels being stuck in the country. But my main question is - why do you need a vet? What type pet do you have? You ought to see the pics of Carree's dogs. They are in the #1 thread, I think.
Julie - Glad everyone is better. I know it has been tough on you. Promise me you'll take good care of yourself, too, okay?
Not much news - school was cancelled again today, but are on schedule for tomorrow.
Jana, I think you really hit on something when you suggested that we change our name from "Featherweights". Others must have thought we were just tiny little things. LOL
Donna: Why did you have a bad night? Do you suffer from insominia? I have battled it for years; and it is the main reason I gained back most of the weight I lost. I am doing much better than in years past.
Julie: Hope everything is better at your house. That's so rough playing nursemaid to the sickies. And then there is no one to take care of us.
Carree: Since I have lost a lot of weight quickly, I have several things going on. One is I have large deep "dimples" for lack of better words on my upper thighs, my large tummy roll has lost fat and is sagging down and the rolls on my back are emptying out of fat and sagging down also. The result is a lot of lower back and hip pain which keeps me awake. I take Tylenol PM but don't like to make a habit of it and use Icy Hot which is not doing the trick! I got woke up last night because my husband had his office door open and he was giving the guy at Lowes what for because they were trying to go back on their agreed date for our dishwasher install. So, there you have it. Tack on the fact I have a bad knee and ankles and we got a freak snow/ice storm so they were aching last night too! To sum it all up, my fat ole body is SHOT!
Jane: We need boarding for our Yorkie when we go to Indiana as we are not staying at a pet friendly hotel this time. We did go to the vets today and they have GONE OUT OF BUSINESS! We can't get our pets records because no one is there anymore! We were lucky though, we went to another vets about 3 blocks from our condo and they were wonderful. We have a Yorkie that is very emotionally needy! He doesn't bark unless he wants something from you and then doesn't do continuous just a yip, and he is terrified of being boarded. Sometimes we just do not have a choice. Anyway, I explained about Fortune and this vet has a "nursery" for puppies and small dogs where they run free and are kept totally away from bigger dogs and noise. There is a big window where they can look out and see the vet techs etc too.
So, it worked out, but it makes me mad we weren't contacted about the closing as this is a small vet clinic and there are not 100's of clients.
Julie: Hope your family is on the mend and all is disinfected! Nothing is worse than having more than one sick at the same time! Gotta watch that coffee. That caffeine will get you!
Well, better go. I will try and post in the morning. Maybe while they are installing my dishwasher.
Carree - Do you ever wake up then are not able to go back to sleep? That's what happens to me! If I have to go to the bathroom, or something, then it is a real gamble whether or not I can go back to sleep.
Donna - I would watch your Yorkie for you while you are galivanting around my homestate, except my big dog Molly would think he's a snack! Molly came from the pound, and is a mix of golden retriever, collie and maybe greyhound, and she is very protective of me. It's funny what she does when DH hugs me.. she bites at his feet and paws at his legs til he moves away from me! We also have 2 sweet beagles.
Well, I am having a birthday dinner for a 4 y/o tonight, so who wants to come and help me clean.... aww come on! Actually, I will turn on some good, fast music and have at it. School is in session today, so I'll have the house to myself.
