Talking I'm Baaaack!

Ok, where the heck is everybody? I go off on vacation and you all start slacking off!

I was no where near perfect on my vacation, but I am proud to say that I went to the gym and did a workout every day while I was gone! I ate dessert and more carbs than I should have, but I didn't go nuts. I tried to keep the diet reasonable and on the healthy side, so I'm not kicking myself. What is a vacation without a little splurging!

Didn't get to work out this weekend or today because 1) I'm still recovering from my vacations 2) my daughter was sick and 3) I just didn't feel like it! I think I'll go for a walk later today though and keep the ol' blood flowing.

Message or email and let me know how it's going for everyone! Talk to you soon!

Hey!! Where did everyone go??

Well, I am quite frustrated. I have walked 32 1/2 miles with Leslie Sandsone's Walk Away The Pounds 2 mile walk since January 20, and have only lost .5-1 pound!! I am starting to notice a *little* difference in my body shape, but not much.

I think my problem might be my metabolism. I had bulimia for 10 years, been recovered for 2 1/2, but am not sure that my metabolism is working properly.

It's so hard for me because I have been so good with exercise and water, and food for the most part, and cannot lose any weight.

Smile Stick With It Holly!

I'm back but it looks like everyone is sliding away from the message board. I'm gonna keep messaging though 'cause I need any little help I can get.

Sure is frustrating when you don't see the scale move, huh?! I feel the same way as you. I have noticed a small difference in the way my pants are fitting, but the scale doesn't budge much at all. I just keep telling myself not to get discouraged and it'll happen. It's hard because I feel like I NEED some small immediate results to keep me going. Just hang in there!

Yesterday I had a binge on Hershey miniatures. I made myself stop, but it was hard. I felt terrible while I was eating them, but couldn't totally stop myself. Grrrr! I need to really focus and keep myself away from foods I'll binge on. It's a daily battle for me!

Going to the gym this morning. I've gotta burn off those miniatures!! Stay with your program and give me a kick in the butt so I'll stay on mine!

Smile Here I am...

Hey, everyone!

How is it going? Glad you had a good trip Johnnie!

My eating is fine, I have been doing better than even I expected, but, ( seems there is always a ,but ), I have not been getting hardly any exercise to speak of!!

I live in a small ( I mean small ), town so we don't have a gym or "Y", to join and the weather has been pretty cold for walking and I work ( at a desk ), all day and in the evenings, whew! So much to do; laundry, supper, two kids with homework, and bathes to take etc. And don't forget both kids want attention and then there is my husband!! So, I have not come up with a way to get ant exercise in!

Any suggestions?

Check back later...

Paula,

I understand the WAY TOO BUSY lifestyle!!! I have 3 children (6, 1 1/2 and 3). It is difficult to find time for exercise. I have started getting up 30 minutes earlier in the morning to get 30 minutes in each day (or at least 5 days a week). I have been using Leslie Sandsone's Walk Away the Pounds 2 Mile walk ( she has 1, 2 and 3 mile tapes).

Johnnie,

Looks like we are down to 3 people. I am trying to stay focused and motivated, but it is sooooo hard! Good news though!! Last month I went from 155 to 156-157, and this morning the scale read 153!! WOO HOO, it has taken me almost a month, but I have lost 3-4 pounds. It seems to take forever. I have walked 37 1/2 miles since January 20th, so I guess in order to lose 20 pounds, and not eat any differently, I would have to walk about 215 more miles (EEK ).

Default Another good day!

Yes, it saddens me so to see that we may have lost some ladies from our group. Maybe they're just too busy to get on line or maybe this just wasn't the right time for them to stick to their healthy plan. No matter what though, I'm in this for the long haul and will continue to post to anyone who needs the encouragement like I do!!

Holly - great job on those pounds! I've lost about 4 pounds in a month myself. I wish it was lots more, but I'm just going to focus on taking it sloooow and steady. Every day I DON'T binge eat is a success, so I'm not so worried about the numbers changing as I am trying to change my eating habits.

Paula, have you tried videos or dvds? They can get a little tedious, but if you find ones that you really enjoy, you can mix them up and work out whenever it's best for you. Maybe if you get up a little early, you can do one of those yoga or exercise shows on TV. Do you have a friend or family member who has a stationary bike or treadmill you can use? If not, make friends with someone who does!

Yesterday I had a good day with my food. Today I'm doing pretty well too. My biggest issue is I still think about food all of the time!! I have to talk myself out of eating stuff between meals and snacking at night. I want the food but I know I don't need it! I'm trying to stick to three meals and two snacks during the day. And by snacks I mean a piece of fruit or a protein bar, something that is ok to eat. It's just soooo hard!

Took the day off from working out, but I think maybe I'll go for a little walk later anyway. I don't want to get too lazy!

I'll check in tomorrow. Hope you ladies are having a good Friday!

Default Hey Diamonds!

Did you miss me? I have been pretty busy lately. I do good on eating during the week, but then the weekend comes and I blow it. I got real serious about watching everything I ate. I don't mean just eating low fat or healthy choices, I mean logging everything, and keeping up with portion sizes. And I started counting weight watcher points. I have the material from when I was on it last time. The first week I lost 4 pounds. Then the weekend came and I gained 3 pounds back. Then through the next week I lost 2 1/2 pounds. Then the weekend came and I gained like 4 pounds....... etc. etc. So basically It has been 3 weeks and I am only 1 pound lighter than when I started! And I lose pounds each week. IT is so hard on the weekend. The main thing is that we are usually running around on the weekend, and so we usually just grab something while we are out. And my husband bought some tequila and so we have been having Margaritas about once a week. ONe pitcher means he drinks 1 and I drink 2. I usually drink maybe once or twice a year! Just maybe if we got out to eat at a mexican restaraunt without any kids. And then my hubby bought some creme de mint and creme de cocoa and fixed us a drink using that mixed with vanilla ice-cream. IT was like eating mint ice-cream. (My fav. ice-cream is mint chocolate chip) Anyway......... with that and the eating out it has been hard. So here I am a new week. I will probably do pretty good this week but come the weekend........
I told my hubby we need to start watching what we eat on the weekends as well. OR rather I do. And eat at home before we go. But we are usually out nearly all day and the kids are crying out I'm hungry!! every 5 minutes or so. My youngest son saying MOmma....eat! And my hubby is hungry, I am "starving" and we have several other places to go. And my biggest prob is that it is hard for me to choose light stuff at restaraunts. I always look at the menu, and then decide if we are going to pay for it I am going to get what I like. I need to work on this. ANd I never get my water in. ANd it is hard for me to get motivated to go to the gym.
ok.....new subject. Chitababe......probably the reason the pounds are not dropping is because you are building muscle. And muscle weighs more than fat. So you would not notice a big difference in pounds. The important thing is that you are noticing a change in your body. The same thing for you Johnnie. One suggestion that might help you track your success is to not only weigh yourself, but also start taking your measurements once a week, or bi-weekly or maybe monthly. IT might help you stay motivated and not get discouraged if you see the inches dropping!! I am going to start weighing in with my mother and have her take my measurements about once a week, or maybe every other. Well...... bye for now. I have to go start studying for my TASP test. I am getting that much closer to starting College this Summer! NO more IF only's for me!! I am going to start doing all that I wished I had! 28 and I will finally go to College! Another aspect of the "new me" I am reaching for.

Good luck!

Angry Good Monday Morning, Ladies!!

Glad you're back Teri!

Johnnie and Holly thanks for the encouragement. You will be proud to hear I exercised this weekend! I have been eating 1200 calories or less each day, yesterday I goofed and ate about 1400, but Friday I was at only 995 so I guess it will all even out.

My sister has "Walk Away the Pounds", I was going to buy them last week but they had sold out at our little Walmart here in town. I am off work this Friday so I will go to a bigger town close to here to the Super Walmart and I am sure they will have them in stock there. Weather was nice here Saturday, so I as able to walk a mile, yesterday I walked 1/2 mile before the rain started.

I plan on sticking with my 1200 calories a day, and getting as much exercise as time permits this week! Maybe by next week I will have those videos to use when weather doesn't permit.

Default Happy Monday!

Paula - 1200 a day?? That's all?! Oh my gosh. . . I think I'd pass out if that was all I took in. haha I don't count my calories, I'm just making better choices about what I'm taking in. I think if I counted calories I'd obsess over how to 'spend them'.

I had a good weekend. Didn't really exercise ( I usually take weekends off from working out) but I still was careful about what I ate. Today is a play day at Chuck E. Cheese, so I'm going prepared with a chicken breast that I'll put on top of a salad I purchase there.

Teri, here's a suggestion for your weekend - you should try packing snacks and drinks for the car. When and if you do end up stopping at a restaurant, you won't be as tempted to order 'bad foods' because you'll only have a small appetite. In my car I always have water, protein bars, 1 piece of fruit, and sometimes a little bag of pretzles or beef jerky that I can enjoy without feeling guilty. When I'm out running my errands during the week, I can curb my appetite and not worry that I'm going to totally blow my eating plan. On the weekends when I know my hubby and daughter and I will be running around and doing things, I pack a little travel ice chest with the same stuff, plus juices boxes, extra fruit and maybe some granola bars or fruit rollup snacks too. For long trips we even pack bags of microwave popcorn that we can stop and pop at any gas station mini mart! Makenna knows she can get any of the stuff in the snack box when she wants it and I don't have to hear her constantly asking for burgers, ice cream, or whatever we happen to be near. This has saved us lots of arguements AND money!

Paula - way to go on the exercise! Keep it up you shiney little diamond! So I've gotta know, exactly how small is your town? Where do you live? I am blessed to live in sunny Fresno, California, so our winters here in the valley are pretty mild. Yesterday I wore jeans and a t-shirt around town!

I'll check in with you ladies tomorrow. I hope you all have a great start to your week!

Exclamation Really Small Town

Hello again everybody...

My small town is in south Georgia, we are about 50 miles from the Florida line. I work in the city limits of Camilla, population of about 5200, we live out in the country on my husband's great granddaddy's farm, the county population is about 23,000. Our winter's are mild also, this year has been the coldest in a while! Our temp today is in the 50's, and the sun is shining! We don't ever get snow here ( North Georgia does get some ), our summer's are almost unbareable!!! Hot, Hot, Hot!!!

About the calories, at first I wasn't going to count either but I decided I needed something to gauge myself by. I went on fitday.com, and did a profile and according to them I need to eat 1200 calories a day to get to my mini goal of 175 by my birthday of November 24, after that I will go for 140lbs! I didn't want to make 140 my initial goal, I want to be able to say I accomplished something!! It is moving off at a decent rate, I started in January at 230 and I am down to 218 now!

I try to keep breakfast at or under 200 calories, lunch at about 300, snack ( at 3PM ), below 100, and that leaves me with about 600 calories for supper. And I try to cut off food at 7:30PM, which usually works, I also drink about 100 ozs of water per day!!
So that lets you know I go to the restroom ALOT!!!!

Now I just have to get an exercise routine!!!

Best to all.......

Default Went to my Doctor

I had an appointment to talk to my doctor about my health plan and get the okay on my blood work and all. Everything came back great - good cholesterol level, good blood pressure, good heart rate, etc.. The basic conclusion is I'm healthy, just fat!!

Luckily for me, I have an awesome doctor. He did some checking into my insurance and said that I qualify for a weight loss center that my insurance will pay for! It's a full clinic of doctors, nurses, nutritionist, exercise instructors, and all that. I'm going to get an appointment for a full evaluation and they'll tailor make a diet and weight loss plan that is monitored once a week by a nurse and nutritionist. Isn't that awesome?? I'm really excited about it. It may not be the 'magic bullet' I'm looking for, but I have the feeling it will be a lot of help.

I am still considering, and they'll talk to me about, surgical weight loss. The good thing about this clinic is that ANY kind of surgery to lose weight is their last and final resort. This is not one of those "slash and dash" weight loss center that make their money on the procedures. I just want to keep my options open and try and do this on my own first.

The last few days have been hard to get the exercise in. And today, I pretty much blew my eating plan, but tomorrow is a new day and I'll just go right back to my eating schedule. I wanted to cry when I realized I'd eaten two big pieces of bread and butter at lunch without even REALIZING I'd done it! Then I started doing bible study and remembered that I'm NOT going to be perfect, I'm just going to try my best, so no sence in beating my self up about it. I just can't have too many slip ups like that!!

I hope you all are having a good week. I'll check in tomorrow!

Angry About there!!!

It's been awhile since I have posted on the board but I'm always reading and keeping updated on everyone.

The good news for me is I have almost met my first mini goal of ten pounds. I am at 9.75 pounds so I have to lose .25 before Valentines day. I'm sure I can do it. I want to know what everyone thinks a safe weight loss in a month is??? I'm not sure.

Paula- I can't believe you think 5600 population is a small town. I live in Fredonia Kansas population 2800. We don't even really have a big town near by. We have to drive at least a couple hours to get to a decent city.

I have been doing okay on my eating. I all the sudden got a craving for chocolate. So I have been drinking hot chocolate. That helps some. I have had a few pieces of chocolate but I have been able to control myself.

The exercising is hard for me to do. I walk with Leslie sometimes and sometimes I go out and jump on the trampoline. I try to involve my girls in my exercise. It will be nice when spring gets here and we can go out and do active things.

I have hard days just like you guys do. The important thing is not giving up. I am really proud of myself. Not really because of the 'diet' but because I can see my lifestyle changing and my eating habits changing.

I am so out of shape though. Here all of you are talking about walking 2 miles or more and exercising all the time. I am doing good to do 1 mile with Leslie twice a week. I'm not even close to starting the 2 mile. I'm proud of all of you. Everyone is doing so well. Do you think is will get easier with Summer coming? I hope so!!!!!

God Bless,

Amy

Angry Is it time for lunch yet??

Seriously I am getting hungry, I will eat lunch before noon today! I had the same breakfast that I always do, funny how sometimes it isn't enough.

Anyway good to hear from you Amy, I guess Camilla isn't that small after all! Also don't feel bad about the exercise, I am struggling with that myself!! I did get a 1/2 mile walk in before supper yesterday. But I need to be doing soooo much more!! I think it will get easier when the weather gets better! It was cool yesterday, but not unbareable!

Well, wish best to everyone!!
